BlackberryJam March 27 Share March 27 (edited) Some new threads for the new threads! Thanks Mods! It’s nice to be able to curate our royals experience. Maxima. Lovely dress color that does not go with that coat at all. What was she thinking? Hair is looking slightly better. Love the earrings. Letizia in a designer version of the dress my sister wore to homecoming in 1983. Okay, my sister’s was shorter and had a ruffled hem and no slit, but that exact same color. Sister wore DTM satin shoes. Her earrings are fantastic. Philippe, unbutton the second button of your jacket and in fact, take it off if you’re going to play a little footie. Well to be fair, based on her age and the presumption the twins play soccer -- she is a middle-aged soccer mom. So ya' know. She is casually dressed and I like it. It's clean, its neat, its comfortable. Kate wears the same outfit all the time. 12 Link to comment
MissLucas March 27 Share March 27 I love Maxima's unusual color combo. Letizia's dress brings along a lot of 80s vibes but since I've never hated 80s fashion I quite like it. It's also a beautiful color for spring. And I covet the cute purse. 11 Link to comment
CountryGirl March 27 Share March 27 I love Maxima's dress and earrings but agree that the coat is all wrong. I love the color of Letizia's dress and the earrings are gorgeous. 4 Link to comment
Dani March 27 Share March 27 Love the color of Letitia’s dress. The slit and neckline remind me of a shirt dress. Which probably should have been a better look in a more crisp fabric with clean lines. I’d love to see Maxima’s dress without the coat. Great color. 5 Link to comment
deaja March 27 Share March 27 Letizia used to be my favorite royal fashion wise, but lately, she's a miss for me as often as she hits the mark. 4 Link to comment
CountryGirl March 27 Share March 27 Carl and Sil today and I love the green on Sil. He seems a little formal wedding to me, but I'll allow it. Zenouska Mowatt at Annabel's last week. If you're saying, who??? She's the granddaughter of QEII's cousin, Princess Alexandra of Kent. Philippe and Mathilde, looking sharp in Cape Town. 3 Link to comment
RunningMarket March 27 Share March 27 I've never noticed the resemblance between Letizia and Courtenay Cox before. It's the eyes for me. I personally love Charlene's casual outfit. 2 Link to comment
BlackberryJam March 27 Share March 27 (edited) Charlene's outfit isn't bad. She just has the stature and ability to make so many things look chic, just not that. Her hair is amazing. To end their state visit, Mathilde threw on a big ol' caftan. That's an "I'm going to eat tonight" dress. Mary is showing us proper royal posture. Note that her papers are in a spiral notebook Or in an artfully arranged stack of folders. Maria-Teresa put on a GIANT coat to go see baby François at the hospital. She looks thrilled. Letizia in a much more interesting dress....fringe sleeves. I think she's making it work. Being gorgeous helps. Love his tie. Okay. Definitely making it work. So Maxima was on a set that was lavender, which was throwing off the color of the dress. I think this is the best I could find. Edited March 27 by BlackberryJam 13 Link to comment
Good Queen Jane March 27 Share March 27 I would find those fringe sleeves to be as annoying as hell to wear. But then I'm not Royal. I want Maxima's earrings. 4 Link to comment

I like the tan/brown coat with the royal purple dress, probably because it reminds me of an antique jewelry box with tan or croc leather exterior and royal purple velvet/silk interior. I have a few, so the color combo makes sense to me! What I don't get is, you're a royal and you're wearing beaded earrings. Just, no. I want to see the real jewels these ladies have access to, to me that's what it's all about! Those earrings are nice for any one of us perhaps, but I want to see the real deal on her. 7 Link to comment

While I'm not a huge fan of that particular print, it reminds me of a Rorschach test, I absolutely adore the yellow on her and the cut of that dress is perfection. For color, it is Maxima's purple all the way. She does jewel tones well. I think that because her personality is so vibrant, the vibrant colors really look great on her. Letizia's dress fits like a glove, but that particular color screams bridesmaid to me, but of course, like pretty much everything, it looks great on her. I could do without the puffy sleeves though. Between that and the color I really get bridesmaid in the 80s vibes. 5 Link to comment

He! When I first saw that pic I was convinced the print was an homage to the famous Art Nouveau poster by T. Steiner - I was really disappointed when I realized it was flowers. Still a great dress though. 3 1 Link to comment

BlackberryJam March 28 Share March 28 Haakon and Mette-Marit out. He's the Hot Dad at the elementary school program. I love her boots and that she's not wearing neutrals. Here's Beatrice Borromeo the other day. She's the granddaughter in law of Grace and Rainier. Anyway. The headpiece. I like the idea, but it's coming off a little "look what I made in art class!" 4 4 Link to comment
MissLucas March 28 Share March 28 @BlackberryJam Thanks for the close-up of La Borromeo's headpiece. It was driving me nuts that I couldn't find any good pics. Reminds me a bit of Daisy's Nasuut tiara though it's probably a costume piece. The earrings on the other hand look deliciously pricey. The Bal de Rose had Bollywood as theme and from the looks of the rest of the clan she seems to be the only one who at least made an effort. I understand folks struggling with the often cryptic themes for the Met Gala but Bollywood seems pretty straightforward in comparison 🤷♀️ 3 Link to comment

BlackberryJam March 28 Share March 28 (edited) Rania is stunning and I want to know what skin cream she uses. Beatrice was at the Rose Ball. It's an annual charity event, and as @MissLucas noted, the theme this year was Bollywood. And the royals were terrible at it. Come on Caroline. And Albert went with his standard tux and oversized pants. In a situation where clothes don't matter, and neither does his disturbing lack of beard, Guillaume of Luxembourg gave an interview about the birth of Prince Francois. When you're glowing with happiness like that, it makes everything okay. Edited March 28 by BlackberryJam 8 Link to comment

MissLucas March 28 Share March 28 Maxima managed just fine when visiting India. As did Kate and William in Pakistan. Any excuse to repost those pics. The theme for the Bal de Rose is decided by Caroline, go with something different if you don't trust your guests. Maybe that's the reason Anna Wintour choses cryptic themes - so no one can blame her for any fashion faux pas happening at the event. So for the next Bal de Rose I suggest: 'Beige in the Age of Technicolor' or 'The Realness of Neo-Punk' - or 'Renaissance of the Dainty'. Clearly I'm good at this. 10 2 Link to comment

BlackberryJam March 28 Share March 28 (edited) @MissLucas I adore your themes and would subscribe to your Theme theme-ed newsletter. That fabric on Maxima is gorgeous. Wills just dweebs out on the reg. Camz may be wearing a tiara tomorrow in Germany.... Edit: Mary in full executive drag coupled with a fat gold chain in the most royal way. Oh, it can absolutely be done. I’m just not sure it can be done at an event where Indians are the entertainment rather than guests or hosts. Although the Monegasque royals fly far enough under the radar they can get away with things the other royals could never. Could you imagine the reaction if Will and Kate ever release a photo like this one. 3 2 Link to comment

ancslove March 29 Share March 29 I think long formal gloves are always going to be "classic" for certain occasions. There were several people wearing opera gloves for the Oscars and other awards shows this past season. 6 Link to comment
BlackberryJam March 29 Share March 29 (edited) Opera gloves are a "thing". And I don't think Anne is comfortable with bare arms. Camz with an interesting color combo. I like colors, but her dress is her standard Camz Comfort Wear for Royals. I am 100% done with her slouchy boots. They do NOT go with everything. Maxima is also in blues today. I'm torn about that applique. It saves the dress from being dull, yet it's just ugly. Sil was out doing her Queen thing dressed like an elementary school principal. That look works for her. From a couple weeks ago, here are Sonja, Harald and Ingrid-Alexandra proving again that Nordies like winter sports. These two always look like they are sharing secrets. Anne out in a dress she purchased in 1986. Nice brooch. "A picture frame can be used as a handy weapon in a pinch. You just smash the corner against the stonework behind us, freeing the glass..." So the big question: Is he wearing a beaded friendship bracelet? (If this is in the wrong spot, I'm happy to move it. Still learning.) I like it! He looks like himself, only not trying so hard. He's definitely wearing a bracelet but it looks a little gold heavy for a typical friendship bracelet. And by "typical" I mean the kind with stretchy string and beads bought at a JoAnn Fabrics like God intended. 😃 11 1 Link to comment
