Even if the result winds up with Miss Amos having been a kook and the younger Mr. Amos having been a saint, IMO, it would be better to investigate to clear the air than to chance something going askance via going the 'nothing to see here, folks' route. 2 Link to comment

There's nothing for authorities to investigate in cases of family drama (abuse, on the other hand, is a criminal matter so those allegations were investigated [and determined unfounded]). 10 5 Link to comment

It appears that Mr Amos had a support team including attorneys handling things. I would presume that means he had a will. If the daughter and other family members are in the will, the executor, probably an attorney, will notify them when the will is filed in Probate Court. There is no obligation for anyone to notify heirs immediately upon the death, nor should anyone be rushing to grab up assets before the body is cold. 1 8 Link to comment

I disagree with all the above . If the authorities DO decide that things weren't entirely hunky dory with Mr. Amos's death and how it was handled by his son , I'll make no objections to having them investigate it because I believe a questionable death would be morally and fiscally worth investigating I won't argue this any further though- unless there is further news updating things in Mr. Amos's case. 1 Link to comment

Blergh October 6 Share October 6 (edited) Because this is the first time I've seen it in print: in the most recent People magazine, Riley Keogh (daughter of the late Lisa Marie Presley and granddaughter of Priscilla and the late Elvis) has announced that the name of her daughter by her husband Ben Smith-Petersen (born in 2022) is. ..Tupelo. I know she wanted to honor the child's maternal-maternal great- grandfather's birthplace but I have to wonder how long before someone shortens it to 'Tupi') and will the child like or dislike either her formal name or any nicknames? Well, having that name would make it a bit tougher for the girl to avoid being linked the Presleys since who else but the most die-hard Elvis fans would name their offspring of either gender after that Mississippi town named for a tree that means 'swamp tree' in the Native American Creek language? Blergh October 7 Share October 7 As per the BBC, Cleo Sylvestre [born Cleopatra Mary Sylvestre] died on September 20,2024. She was 79. She had the distinction of having release single 'To Know Him is to Love Him' in 1964- backed by the then-unknown Rolling Stones . Mick Jagger has released a statement saying that he is 'so sad' at the news of her death. Thereafter she would concentrate on a performing career which included being a regular from 1970 to 1972 the British soap Crossroads. More recently she was a semi-regular on the current production of All Creatures Great and Small playing Annie Chapman- a biracial farmer and matriarch to a multi-generational family in rural Yorkshire in the late 1930's and early 1940's which, apart from the farming aspect, was similar to how her own life wound up. She had been married to an Ian Palmer from 1979 to his death in 1995 and was the mother of three children. 6 Link to comment

Palimelon October 8 Share October 8 Nell Smith, singer who recorded an album of Nick Cave covers with the Flaming Lips, dies at 17. Smith was a major fan of The Flaming Lips and first met the band's frontman Wayne Coyne after her parents took her to their 2018 show in Calgary, according to Consequence of Sound. Coyne stayed in touch with the budding musician and her family as she learned guitar and started writing songs, which eventually culminated in them collaborating on the Cave covers album, Where the Viaduct Looms, in November 2021, when she was just 14. Simon Raymonde of the Cocteau Twins also shared his condolences on Monday, revealing that Smith had been working on her debut solo album via his Bella Union record label, set for release sometime next year. 9 Link to comment

Blergh October 12 Share October 12 I guess this may be as good a time as any to mention this but even though Ethel Skakel Kennedy was widowed when she was forty and in the family way with her 11th and last child, there were indications that she did at least . ..enjoy the company of two well-known performers and entertainers over the next few years. She evidently had been a close friend (alongside her late husband Robert, Sr. ) with the singer Andy Williams (1927-2012) who even had his newborn son by his then-wife Claudine Longet named Bobby in Senator Kennedy's honor in 1969 and would escort Mrs. Kennedy to events in the early 1970s. However, whatever the nature of the bond Mr. Wiliams may have had with Mrs. Kennedy, he would stay wed to Miss Longet until 1975 but there would be no marriage between himself and Mrs. Kennedy after his divorce. It was also known that Mrs. Kennedy became at least platonic friends with the football player turned sportscaster Frank Gifford (1930-2015) sometime in the mid 1970's. Yet, when Mr. Gifford became legally single, this did not result in marriage between the two. Whether Mrs. Kennedy didn't believe that her faith would allow her to wed a divorced man or whether she didn't want to give up whatever extra clout she may have had being Mrs. Robert F. Kennedy, Sr. or he wasn't interested in marrying her is conjecture. However their dealings with each other may have gone, Mr. Gifford and Mrs. Kennedy would be bonded together for the rest of his life via the marriage of his daughter Victoria with her son Michael. Yes, even though that union was in the process of being dissolved at the time of the younger Mr. Kennedy's sudden 1997 death, the two of them DID provide Mr. Gifford and Mrs. Kennedy with three mutual grandchildren. 1 10 Link to comment

That should be their choice. Sometimes there are religious issues with traditional treatments, trauma from perhaps another loved one's treatment. Dirk Benedict sought homeopathic treatment for his cancer and beat it - in the 1980s. I'm sure there are others. All I'm saying is we should respect another's decision and not shame them (not that anyone was) for the way they choose to treat their illnesses. Point of information: Although Dirk Benedict claimed to have beaten prostate cancer; he never actually had it biopsied and the diagnosis confirmed. I saw an interview in which he said he had a rectal exam at the doctor's office and the doctor felt a lump in his prostate. The doctor told him it could be cancer or it could be something else and referred him to a specialist for a biopsy. Benedict chose not to have the biopsy, so he never had confirmed prostate cancer. He was also quite young, in his 20's I think, which makes it far more likely that he had some other condition and not cancer in the first place. I was his choice to not have the biopsy just as it was Ms Lewis' choice to avoid mammograms and traditional therapies. I am glad that she has, however, stepped forward and is telling her story and suggesting that, knowing what she knows now, she would've made a different choice.
