There was NOTHING about Camille's story that she wouldn't have told an actual female best friend, so her hiding the truth from Victoire serves only to produce plot complications. It's too bad they couldn't come up with another way to develop a rift between them if that had to be done, but this made so little sense that it makes the entire plot weaker.
