The Crazed Spruce December 7, 2022 Share December 7, 2022 Quote When Lyle's niece is accused of committing a crime on her college campus, Lyle enlists Margaret and Todd to vindicate her. Link to comment
AnimeMania December 9, 2022 Share December 9, 2022 They even managed to make a murder case light and fluffy. Rob Labelle (D.A Lars Boatman) Marlee Walchuk (Judge Edith Mendelsohn) Regan Ross (Bailiff) Jasmin Dring (Agnes) Djouliet Amara (Angie Brooks) Russell Dennis Lewis (Carrington Reed) Matthew Dennis Lewis (Colby Reed) Diego Stredel (Rafe Castillo) Alea O’Shea (Saffron Green) Melanie Rose Wilson (Bethany Danderson) Tavis Quan (Nicholas Armstrong) 1 Link to comment
Brian Cronin December 9, 2022 Share December 9, 2022 You really have to wake up early in the morning to write a scene as shitty as Todd and Lyle racing away from dinner to...prove their theory first?!? Fuck the heck?! Link to comment
KayVeeTeeVee December 9, 2022 Share December 9, 2022 This show is just cheesy enough to love! Twins named Colby and Carrington! Come on, that's genius! I laughed out loud. 1 9 Link to comment
shapeshifter December 9, 2022 Share December 9, 2022 This show is right in my dramedy wheelhouse. But, like other great shows that started out a little rough, I don't think it's going to garner the necessary audience to continue. 1 4 Link to comment
Trey December 9, 2022 Share December 9, 2022 Did Saffron ever go to the police? It didn't seem like it or they wouldn't have arrested Angie. The Saffron/Rafe red herring just sort of fizzled out. But I still enjoyed the show. It was good seeing Lyle in a different context. He seems to be a good person, if a little uptight. Quite the right hook on him. 2 2 Link to comment

I'm watching for the most superficial of reasons: I'm enjoying all the references to Portland which were conspicuously absent from this episode. The only college in Oregon City is Clackamas Community College. They could have at least said something about the traffic on McLoughlin Blvd. I'm still waiting for a mention of Reed or Lewis & Clark. I would think Todd's brilliant sister would have gone to one of them instead of University of Oregon. Link to comment

Also, they were apparently played by real-life twins, so that's cool. Quote I don't think it's going to garner the necessary audience to continue. Ratings are decent, although it's hard to say in context. It's averaging about 4.3 million viewers. It's on against Grey's Anatomy which gets around 3.5 million viewers so it seems like it's doing pretty good. It also got a full season pickup. 3 Link to comment
UsernameFatigue December 10, 2022 Share December 10, 2022 I love this show, and love that they had Voodoo donuts in this episode. My niece and her hubby were married at the original Voodoo donuts in Portland in 2010. They had watched a show on odd/interesting restaurants that featured Voodoo donuts, and the fact that they perform weddings. They weren't even engaged at that time, but decided that should they even get married, they should get married there. There were a dozen or so of us that made the trek from B.C. to Portland for the wedding. 😄 3 1 Link to comment

This week it pulled a 0.36 in the target demo, which is very definitely middle-of-the-pack. It beat the CMA Awards, but L&O SVU won the timeslot at 0.59. A decent chance the show sticks around, but the Demo numbers are trending down.https://tvseriesfinale.com/tv-show/so-help-me-todd-season-one-ratings/ 1 Link to comment
seacliffsal December 13, 2022 Share December 13, 2022 Somehow I missed how the fake paperwork led to the arrest of the guilty twin. Can someone explain it to me? Thanks. Link to comment

It wasn’t super clear, and I am not sure I even really got it correct. Link to comment

It only worked because good twin had no idea his brother was a murderer. When they told him, showed him proof, he agreed to the con they pulled to trap him. They got both in the office, then acted as if they didn’t know the boys true identities (that’s why they were practically screaming their misidentified names). The good twin was in the room supposedly signing the confession AS the bad twin. But if you were the murderer, wouldn’t you just leave and let the mistake stand instead of confessing? Link to comment
seacliffsal December 14, 2022 Share December 14, 2022 Thanks so much for filling in what I missed. It's a weak plot 'twist' and I guess it required more attention than I was giving it. I think I was thrown off by the huge stacks of paper they were supposed to sign. Am still enjoying the show but I would like the stories to make more sense. Link to comment

I missed the particulars of that plot point too, but will probably catch them if I rewatch some time in the future. The Closer and/or Major Crimes had similar schemes to get the known killer to confess. One time they showed the killer his accomplice(?) sitting in an interrogation room across from Lieutenant Provenza, who was verbally offering the accomplice a variety of gourmet food options for dinner while the accomplice was told to write down the ones he wanted. Cherry Styles October 26, 2023 Share October 26, 2023 (edited) This show reminds me of a modern version of Murder She Wrote. Murder she Wright. 😄 Definitely cheesy at times, but I enjoy it. Edited October 26, 2023 by Cherry Styles Link to comment
