Class has shown up in some interesting ways in the show. Lucien, for instance, betrays Jerome to be a different - presumably wealthier man. And similarly, Ling Yi ended up killing Mei Mei in order to take her place and improve her circumstances. Both Lucien and Ling Yi get more than they bargained for and both have concluded that they're being punished for their choices.

Then there's the class conflict that comes through in the mutiny. The folks from steerage - led by Tove and Franz - are the ones who initiate the mutiny. And once Iben starts hunting for The Boy, the mutineers just barge into the rooms in first class, which is a big turning of the tables.

I thought Ling Yi was just trying to put Mei Mei to sleep so she wouldn't leave to be a prostitute or whatever.
