Professionals is a 10 episode Action TV Series airing on October 11 at 9 p.m. on The CW. Professionals is a loose remake of the 2012 action movie "Soldiers of Fortune" starring Christian Slater. Professionals aired in 2020, made for the Scandinavian SVOD service Viaplay by a Republic of Ireland and South Africa co-production team and shot in both locations.

Professionals follows a hardened former counterintelligence officer Captain Vincent Corbo (Tom Welling), a top-tier security operative, who is paid to protect the interests of rich and powerful clients by any means necessary - legal or not. After a next-gen medical satellite explodes on launch, from corporate sabotage in the 21st century’s privately-funded space race, Corbo is hired by the rocket's designer – billionaire futurist Peter Swann (Brendan Fraser) – who suspects foul play.  

Complicating matters, Corbo's former paramour, medical visionary Dr. Grace Davila (Elena Anaya), who is racing to help stave off a global catastrophe, is now Swann's fiancée. As Corbo and his team of veteran security professionals investigate the rocket disaster, they expose a lethal conspiracy of Swann's corporate rivals, corrupt government officials, and a shadowy crime syndicate – all working to destroy Swann to take control of his tech empire. Worse, Corbo must also contend with a rogue Europol agent (Ken Duken) seeking to thwart his security team’s efforts.

S01.E01: Snipe Hunt

SERIES PREMIERE - Multi-billionaire and philanthropist Peter Swann (Brendan Fraser) wants to set new standards in modern medicine. The satellite-supported “Panacea” project is intended to identify at an early stage in which regions of the world viral diseases break out and to guarantee the rapid supply of vaccines to people. At the Dublin headquarters of the Swann corporate empire, Peter and his fiancée, the physician Dr. Grace Davila (Elena Anaya), follow the transmission of the rocket launch but the highly sophisticated satellite cannot make it into orbit. Peter thinks it was sabotaged, but he has no proof. Grace convinces him to bring in security expert Vincent Corbo (Tom Welling) to investigate. The Private Military Contractor (PMC) and Grace had a relationship seven years ago, after Vincent saved the doctor’s life during an operation in the Syrian-Iraqi border area. Vincent, Peter and Grace travel to French Guyana. They quickly find the first clues of a conspiracy, not only against the “Panacea” project, but against Peter’s entire company.

Watched this because Tuesday’s are a slow tv night for me.  This was all kinds of awful.   I mean an Elon Musk wannabe hires the A Team  to prove his rocket’s explosion was sabotage and not mechanical failure.    Ok sounds interest but no……it was all kinds of boring.    But then again Tuesday is a slow night …..

S01.E02: Entanglements

HIGH STAKES - Peter (Brendan Fraser) hires Vincent (Tom Welling) and his team as bodyguards to watch over Grace (Elena Anaya) until it is clear who is behind the latest attacks. The group settles into a villa in Cape Town, which is also occupied by Peter’s father, the eccentric multi-billionaire Reginald Swann (Andre Jacobs), and Peter’s power-hungry half-sister Zora (Lisa Loven Kongsli), who condemns her brother’s plans to launch another rocket. When Peter’s teenage daughter goes missing, Vincent, Peter and Grace come up with a plan and Vincent has to put his life in danger once again.

I like this show. I think it's cut together rather like a Guy Ritchie film, and can be kind of confusing with all the time switches, but I'm interested enough to keep watching. Tom Welling and Brendan Fraser's rapport is good. Is it cliched? Possibly, but well filmed. Production values are pretty good.  I'm sticking with it.

S01.E03: The Knives of Friends

TURN YOUR BACK - Zora (Lisa Loven Kongsli) sneaks around and makes plans behind her brother’s back, leaving Peter (Brendan Fraser) and Grace (Elena Anaya) in the dark. Vincent’s (Tom Welling) team undergoes a tough aptitude test to meet the strict requirements of Swann’s head of security. An injury draws Europol’s attention to Vincent, leading to Kurt (Ken Duken) and Sophia (guest star, Danielle Ryan) to come interrogate him.

S01.E04: Vectors

WATCH YOUR BACK – While preparing a fundraiser for the “Panacea” project with Grace, Peter attempts to sort everything out with Zora. Meanwhile Kurt Neumann’s presence at the fundraiser leaves Vincent under pressure. Grace gets a troubling phone call that kickstarts an unfortunate turn of events.

IN HOT WATER - Vincent and Peter make it to the Congo and arrive to find that Grace’s good nature has put her in serious trouble. Kurt Neumann’s arrival further stirs the pot meanwhile Vincent’s team faces familiar enemies along the way on their rescue mission.

S01.E08: The Alamo

COMPLICATIONS - Zora seizes the opportunity to use Peter’s absence as an opening to move forward with her plans. Peter and Vincent slowly recover from their fights only to learn that Grace has fallen seriously ill with Marburg virus. Their journey back to the camp gets complicated after realizing that another attack from Luther’s troops is imminent. Back home, Peter’s daughter begins a dangerous love affair with a member of Tariq’s crew.

Not sure what is going on with Episode 9, since it is not currently listed on the schedule. It says that next week will be a repeat, but I think it will be Episode 9.

S01.E09: Deep Fake

Zora is scheming again, and Tariq's and Neumann's feud continues. Peter is arrested. Neumann tries to keep his head above water.

I'm sad that the next episode is the series ender.  I liked this show.  I saw that Tom Welling was a cast member in 'The Winchesters', but I didn't know how much he was going to be involved in the series.

S01.E10: Swan Song

(Season Finale)

ALL HANDS ON DECK – Vincent’s (Tom Welling) team gains a surprising new member that proves incredibly helpful.  Zora (Lisa Loven Kongsli) attempts to sway her father’s interests to bring him on her side and against Peter (Brendan Fraser).  Vincent fights to get all his allies to safety before they all have to race to beat the ticking clock of Zora’s plans.  Luther (August Wittgenstein) finds himself trying to give advice, but it is not well received.
