Totally hadn't realized the show was moving back to Sundays!

What a great premier. A car wash with strippers and wings was the trifecta I didn't know I needed. And very ingenious. Although I personally would want my wings at the beginning.

Every time I saw Mercedes' mama's face, I wanted to punch her!

I don't like that they're diving right back into this casino business especially with Ruffin gone. But I guess since almost all the money is gone thanks to costs of the pandemic, they need something to create more tension between Hailey, Uncle Clifford, and the ladies.

I’m so glad this show is back! The premiere was okay setting up the continuations of tensions that existed in the first season but I found myself a little underwhelmed. I hate saying that, I really do.

1. I loved the scene between Keyshawn and Diamond. I honestly don’t know where Keyshawn’s head is. Diamond went to the mat for her. I don’t blame him for being angry.

2. I liked Mercedes and Hailey as reluctant allies way better than I like them as fighting siblings. It isn’t like there aren’t enough problems they need to solve, preferably together, that they have the luxury of sniping at each other.

3. I hope that Lil’ Murder and Keyshawn go on tour and do well. I hope that this is enough to get things to the breaking point with ridiculous, jealous, controlling baby daddy. That man is just a waste of space.

4. I don’t like that they made Andre’s wife borderline crazy. Andre’s ambition and sleaziness always shines through but this felt a little bit like giving him an excuse. Hailey and Andre always sell the sexual tension beneath the surface, along with their anger and dislike. The scene with Hailey and Andre in the rain had noir vibes and I liked that homage to American cinema.

5. I hope that Gidget comes back soon.

6. Shallow note, I loved Uncle Clifford’s pay his respects and pick up some chitlins combo funeral outfit. The costume designer must have had a wonderful time with that. Seeing Andre conservatively dressed for the funeral in a way that was all wrong was some fabulous show it don’t tell it storytelling. It conveyed that he was a son, not a son especially with him giving the eulogy. I liked the kindness of the woman giving him a pocket handkerchief.

7. The casino storyline continuing to be a problem feels organic to me. There are outside powers and principalities that want that casino. They might have to regroup with the loss of the mayor as their inside man, but those casinos bring a lot of money for anyone who can keep the $ rolling their way with construction and operation. Those casinos ruin small towns so the conflict of this could be interesting if written right.

I said I was underwhelmed and ended up writing everything I liked, lol. Bottom line fear? I want PValley to continue to be the poetic glimpse into a real world, not turn into a night time soap with the quirks of the characters emphasized just because they’re quirks. I feel like we’re on the knife’s edge because the execs have taken notice of the success of what was supposed to be a throw away show.

She’s been so battered and abused by that POS for so long she’s psychologically damaged. She can’t imagine life without him. It’s only a matter of time before he starts beating her up again.

Diamond was so into her and was just trying to protect her- he’s heartbroken. Keyshawn and what’s his name are in a “honeymoon phase” because she’s stuck in the house and he can control her, while making money off of her. Ugh I hate his face. The guy beats you up, but you won’t believe he would call you a slur??

Derek- that’s his name. Do we think he will let her go on the tour?

I didn’t see his wife as borderline crazy- I saw her as a physician who’s incredibly stressed out and over worked in the thick of caring for patients with COVID. Her husband is also unemployed and she’s a relatively young Dr- this is something she’s read about in history books but probably something she never thought she’d experience.

She didn’t stop him from going, to the wake, but she had concerns. She probably just needs a break- which given that this timeline is Late Summer 2020 she will get soon.

Andre is still scummy though, he was ready to hop into Hailey’s vagina away from his wife two days in Season 1. I kinda want her to catch him in the act if she has a few days off from work and all hell to break loose.

Me too. She said Dusty killed her Mom- who’s Dusty? I don’t remember. Edited to add- I think Dusty is her boyfriend, the one we saw running pills last season.

Shallow Bus- it looks like Brandee Evans got her breasts done on hiatus- I noticed the pocket under her cleavage in the last scene when she and Autumn were watching “What’s Love Got To Do With It”.

@Scarlett45 - That’s a good point about Andre’s wife. It just felt like they were portraying his wife in a way to make excuses for Andre and since I think Andre is kind of a sleaze bag I didn’t like it. And but just a sleaze in terms of Autumn, a sleaze in terms of the business he’s involved in.

I like Diamond and felt for him so much in the grocery store parking lot but had to laugh when he took out his emotional frustration on the next hapless person without a mask.

I like Diamond too. It’s clear he has genuine feelings for Keyshawn, and he’s such a good hearted guy. But his time in the military gave him PTSD and he’s not the most stable of men.

What’s his name…damn what’s that guy’s name? Derek (I had to read up thread to find it, see I hate him I can’t remember his name) and Diamond will come to blows again I’m sure SURE.
