I liked Harry's sweater! I realize I'm a throwback, but it looked comfy and warm and I liked the colors. If only he and Mel had a lot of cats, the setting would be complete.

I find D so much less annoying this season. Ever since she found out her mother's secret, she's seemed way more reasonable and less bratty.

I was worried that Robyn investigating would get Vi in trouble, and get the verdict thrown out. But I liked the way they used the trial to show Dante working through what he wanted to do with his life. And I always love Aunt Vi, so having her showcased was also enjoyable.

The hold out juror changing her mind at the last second seemed very unearned and unexplained, but I'll take the happy ending because life is hard enough; let this show give justice a win. And the win was all legal and non-violent this week. Once in a while, it's nice to see that actually work.

If Tim didn’t have his phone, how did he call a cab? Or did Sarah call one for him?

I was thinking about Mel's boots for hanging around the bat cave were ridiculous. I hope Harry appreciates it

I did like this epi but I did also wonder about the calling of the cab when the guy supposedly didn't have it with him.  But I guess expecting complete logic and continuity in fiction shows is asking a lot.  But I liked Aunt Vi getting the jury to take a deeper look at the evidence and not make a rush to a verdict.  And I did wonder at times whether McCall's investigation would some how come back and mess up the trial before all ducks were in a row.

I thought Harry's sweater was very Harry-like even though I gave it the side-eye and then Mel's chain mail looking tunic also made me shake my head but I know that's just her style as well.  And yes, a cat would love batting those dangling bits around.

I liked that by the end they not only had another suspect but that Dante was back on the job.  I hope he can keep working things out.

Delilah was fine this epi and I liked that she and her mom talked and seemed to have an understanding about Robyn's job and her dad's concerns.

I am usually pretty good at spotting inconsistencies, I am slightly disappointed in myself for not catching the cellphone thing. I was thinking that if he fell down he would be more likely to scrape/skin his hand, rather than cut it.

It's New York - cabs are always cruising around and you flag one down.  You don't have to call them. Unless he says he called a cab, then it's an inconsistency.

Delilah should just tell her dad not to ask questions about Robyn and their homelife.  He really puts her on the spot when he does that.

I'm not liking Tim's odds for getting a cab to stop for him late at night. 😈

Or, he was running after one with its light on (the old-school way of hailing cabs in NYC) and fell down. But yeah, they tend not to stop for Black men. And I called that the killer was the downstairs neighbor as soon as he was so friendly and forthcoming with Robyn.

The point of the play and film of "12 Angry Men" and "12 Angry Jurors" is that one person who insists on following the law can clear an innocent person. In the film, Henry Fonda just Henry Fondas all over the place, as the Great American CItizen. In this version, Aunt Vi became their voice of reason, and I think it's interesting that the Angry White Guy admitted that there was reasonable doubt BEFORE the bitchy woman. (Also, in the film, it was a Puerto Rican kid charged, and he was also racially profiled.) Lorraine Toussaint > Henry Fonda.

And I'm glad Dante's back on the job, instead of mooning around thinking about law school or turning PI. The DA won't know to be grateful to Robyn, but it'll be a huge load off HER back when they arrest and try the actual rapist/killer.

I am very glad they didn't just have him read one law book and instantly transmute into a lawyer. I was worried they would do that rather than showing the years-long process that it would take to get into law school, pass the bar and then become a lawyer.

I think he has already done everything and became a lawyer, then instead switched to being a cop.

I don’t think his education went that far, but it may be the reason he’s such a good detective. He sifts through the available evidence and sees it realistically, in terms of logic, probability, legality, truthfulness. However, I think his main take-away was “Who will be willing to investigate to get to the truth?”, as opposed to simply going through the motions and calling the job “done”. (Stated differently, “Do I leave these slackers to it, or do I stay and show them how it’s done?)

I was appalled with the dialogue between Robyn and the blonde DA (her sort-of newfound “friend”). The woman basically said that Tim was guilty until proven innocent! I’m surprised the “presumed innocent until proven guilty” didn’t get more play during deliberations. Guess they thought they had it covered by using the phrase, “reasonable doubt” so many times.

Excellent sweater porn this week.  Robin's apricot angora was gorgeous & the black cut-out over the yellow mock turtle was fab.  But Harry's crochet Granny square was a work of art.

Jest all you want, the 70's crochet granny Square revival is HUGE right now in the handmade community and among some very hot & high profile designers.  I'm glad they put it on Harry & not Robyn.  It would have NOT been flattering.  That sweater would retail for probably $800 at a boutique.  I'm not even joking.

My lone criticism is that Olivia giving Sarah a single anti-anxiety pill to combat her jitters at a busy bar is unlikely.  Those meds don't always work that way and 1 pill, even mixed with alcohol, wouldn't necessarily have done enough to incapacitate or even make Sarah groggy.  She would have to have been EXTREMELY sensitive.  And if a busy bar was gonna freak her out, she would have know it and had her own scrip.  Not a good storyline.

It is the Equalizer New York where she was the Manhattan DA when Detective Dante was missing but Aunt Vi was on a Brooklyn jury.

He fell while running for a cab, which implies he was trying to flag one down.  You don’t have to run if you’ve called one and it’s waiting for you.

Good episode!  I liked that Robyn didn’t save the day, instead it was examining the evidence and how biases play into perception that led to the correct outcome.  If only it worked that way in real life.

You might run for a waiting cab if it was cold and still raining. You might fall down if there was trash on the ground and it was too dark or rainy to see well and your eyes were focused on the cab.

I went through the TV transcript and in every single instance they say that he ran and hailed a cab, not that he called for one.

OK. I thought he had said he was in the vestibule waiting for his cab, which would imply to me that one was coming for him.

...where all of New York is "Manhattan," including Brooklyn, Queens, The Bronx & Staten Island. ;-) (IRL, all boroughs have their own DA. My DA in Queens actually IS a blonde woman...)

Great episode.  This was a particularly strong episode for Lorraine Toussaint.  I really like when she gets more to do than just pop in at the beginning and show up at the end.  This episode and the episode where she was accused of shoplifting really have used her very well.

I am still wondering what happened to Beecher from Oz.  Did Dante actually kill him?  I wish there had been some kind of throwaway line about how given the circumstances, no charges would be pressed against Dante for the battery/killing of Beecher.

I liked that Dante is back to being a detective.  He told Robyn that he wanted her name if he was going to help her.  Does he now have her name?  I still want to know what he calls her other than "hey...... you".

She's a prosecutor, in her mind the cops did their job and gathered all of the evidence.  She asked Robyn to provide her with some evidence that would contradict the evidence that was already gathered.  I am curious if Robyn had had more time, if she would have gone to the DA to point out the inconsistencies with the neighbour's story and the garbage blocking his view.

Also... ew.  I know that in New York it is common for trash to just get piled on the sidewalk and garbage trucks collect it from there, but I suppose it is just a way of life that if you are on the ground floor that you will have trash piled up blocking your window?  Hope the rent for that unit is less than others.

Yes, that is what I thought too.  He went to law school and decided in the end that he wanted to be a detective instead of a lawyer.

Really good episode - I enjoyed Robyn's detective work and the lack of shoot 'em outs and chase scenes.   I also enjoyed their take on "12 Angry Men" but also how they had most of the jurors originally closed minded about the case and with the attitude of "we just want to go the hell home".   Makes you wonder how many innocent people get locked up and guilty ones are still out on the street because somebody else got convicted, although most of the time, I still believe that the police get it right in who they arrest.

This show still has a great hair/makeup & wardrobe crew.  Loved Mel's boots and Robyn's sweaters but that Granny Square thing - no, just plain no.   Talk about an Ugly (actually Fugly is more the term) sweater.   And some hipster fashionista type would pay $800 for that thing?  Those Granny Squares need to stay back in the 70s where they belong (and if I only had my Granny Square midi-skirt from 1971.... not that I could fit into it but. it was  a helluva lot more attractive than that sweater).  Sigh.

Great episode and a nice change of pace! I liked that it showcased Aunt Vi/Toussaint and wasn't the usual action episode.

Cool, Dante is back to being a NYPD detective. I'm glad they didn't drag that out too much.

It was; and I'm kinda glad they had him in that ridiculous thing, because it brought some comedy to this heavy episode.

The show seems to imply that Dante did kill him; but it is weird that they haven't directly addressed that. Maybe they're waiting to make that a story later?

I liked seeing Aunt Vi do more. It was great seeing her trying convince the rest of the jury the guy was innocent. I am surprised the defense lawyer never questioned the TV show coming on later. Or really anyone else. No one in Brooklyn that night was annoyed at the game going late and their show being delayed?

I was happy he was found not guilty. I did worry that the real murderer was going to get away with it. I assumed Robyn would take care of that. I didn't expect it to be Dante! I loved seeing him back as a detective.

Just goes to show that the quality of your lawyer makes all the difference. And the more money you can pay, the more time the lawyer will spend looking at things like that, which could be the key to exoneration.

Trash goes out on the sidewalk once or maybe twice a week. Otherwise it's in an alley, trash room, basement, etc. And yes basement or garden level apartments are usually a little cheaper than higher floors.
