jewel21 January 16, 2022 Share January 16, 2022 Quote While setting up protective detail on Trey, Captain James is shot and left in critical condition. Walker takes on the role of interim Captain and turns to an unlikely source for help. Airdate: 01/20/2022 Link to comment
thuganomics85 January 23, 2022 Share January 23, 2022 So, James really was the target last week and the shooter was some guy who he arrested during his trooper days and wanted to settle the score. But it sounded like something fishy happened and even James himself didn't feel like he deserved the sentencing, which is why he actually wanted to end things without bloodless. Also, it sounded like he wasn't initially connected to Soriano, but he did know about him in prison? Kind of confused by all of that. Either way, it seemed like this was mainly the show's way to address the flaws in the system and how it can fail some prisoners and make them come out even worse, but it didn't really land the way the show was probably hoping it would. I was wondering if Stan was going to come back into play. He's certainly got a unique look he's going for in the pen. I wonder if Jeffrey Nordling is/was filming another role at this time and needed to keep that look, or if they're just trying something new with him. Either way, it looks like he is being helpful to both Walker and Liam for now, but I suspect he'll has his own agenda here. Trey might be moving to the ranch? Would be a good way to let him interact with the rest of the main cast some more. And also the show can get rid of the set they use for Micki's house! Cool seeing DJ again and also meeting James' ex for the first time. 2 Link to comment

rr2911 January 23, 2022 Share January 23, 2022 I still think Walker needs to toughen up and stop with his stuttering and fumbling of words. When he was addressing everyone at the office, I just wanted to get up or change the channel. I think it was a bad move for the show in adding a comic flavor to it. 1 Link to comment
Katy M January 23, 2022 Share January 23, 2022 That seemed like a goodbye. Is that it for Trey? I thought the Walker's not a leader stuff was pointless. Are we supposed to believe that someone who couldn't fake good leadership skills for one meeting was really successfully undercover for a whole year? He could have still realized he didn't want to be a leader/wasn't cut out for it without that painfully awkward speech. I actually have to say that I liked (for lack of a better word) the shooting scene. I really thought that Walker had gone ahead and shot him until he turned around to look. That was well done. And I kind of liked the scene with the kids talking about poker nights. But, other than those 2 small moments this epi was kind of a bust as far as I'm concerned. 1 Link to comment
Bobcatkitten January 23, 2022 Share January 23, 2022 The fumbling Walker isn't a good look and he does it all the time. I think it makes the character look weak. I was kinda confused by the arc on the captain. He is clearly pretty young and would be a long way from retiring. And generally a captain is in less danger than an everyday ranger. I guess he could step back down to being Walker's partner and maybe they could bring in a strong female captain? That might be nice. 1 Link to comment

This is the reason I checked out on this show several episodes ago. Just nosing around to see what others are thinking. I also don't like JPs delivery of his lines and the forced gravelization of his voice. It's annoying 1 Link to comment
tennisgurl January 24, 2022 Share January 24, 2022 I was pretty confused as to what the guys deal was who shot James, it sounds like something sketchy went down and James feels bad about it, but I wanted to know the actual story. Why are they being so vague about it? Will it come back later? I guess the show wanted to explore how unfair the system can be to criminals and that giving out harsh sentences can make people worse? A perfectly good message, but they really needed to explain things more. The scene between the kids was nice, I hope that we can see James's son again and his ex wife, who I liked. I did find the apparent nature of their breakup a bit confusing, if her fear of him being hurt on the job was what broke them up, shouldn't she have been happy he became a captain who isn't in the field as much? Of course on this show, everyone is in constant danger all the time, but still. 1 Link to comment
