S26.E02: Week 2

Recommended Posts

Sensei Cassidy is very disappointed in Shanaenae for her amateurish attempts at manipulation, she has no clue how to be a proper reality show villain. Cassidy came in super hot, basically declaring herself to be the seasons new bitch, and while her manipulations are pretty obvious, just straight up mounting Clayton whenever she can, it seems to be working. Cassidy knows how to be the seasons bad girl. Shanaenae is just embarrassing, I would say that no way would Clayton ever buy into her obvious desperate bullshit, but Clayton didn't come off as the brightest this week. I felt bad for people making fun of him for being this dumb jock during his Bachelorette season and going into this one, but now it seems like, while he's book smart, he's ridiculously easy to manipulate. If one of the girls told him she needed money to help her cousin, a Nigeran prince, get to America, he would probably be handing over cash in about five seconds. Shanaenae reminded me a bit of a slightly less ridiculous version of Queen Victoria from Matt's season, someone trying to play at mean girl alpha bitch but just coming off as pathetic and delusional. Granted, no one is as much of an embarrassing SNL character as Victoria, but I definitely got those vibes.

Hillary Duff is actually a celebrity guest that the girls didn't have to fake being excited about, I would much rather hang out with Hillary then Clayton. I love that Hillary had Cassidy's number instantly, she's been in the entertainment industry for her whole life, survived being a child star, she can probably smell a fake a mile away. She was clearly not impressed, even as Cassidy was gushing about getting to meet her.

I have mostly liked Clayton alright, he struck me as boring but pleasant, but he really lost points with me giving Cassidy the rose. If he was as nice and family centric as the show wants him to be, he would be massively put out by Cassidy making one of the other girls (Genevieve?) build the house alone that they were supposed to build together, be clearly totally uninterested in the kids and more interested in making out by the pool, and then dropping the cake, laughing about it, then running off to make out with him more. Its shitty disrespectful behavior in a date that was clearly supposed to be about seeing how the women interact with kids, but he got to stick his tongue down Cassidy's throat so I guess she's the winner. Says a lot about what he really values in a person.

I think Jessie was better this week, he seemed nervous last week but he seems to be doing better now that he's getting more used to the gig. He's always so funny and charming when he hosts baking shows, maybe because he can banter more with the contestants and judges, so hopefully he is getting his rhythm.

The girl who's upset that she left her "family, her friends, and her cat" to be here is now the most relatable person on the show.

Silly Shanae, Elizabeth has only one face. Her 45-year-old one. At least with all the drama this episode I can tell three of the bleached blondes apart now. Speaking of bleached blondes, Hilary Duff's dye job looks terrible and really ages her. Considering she's been in the entertainment industry for decades, she should have a much better hairstylist.

Oh, man.  If I had a buck for every time I said that about some celeb...

While watching the date with Susie I was thinking she is a) sweet but b) not the sharpest knife in the drawer. But, as the episode progressed and I watched Clayton play tonsil hockey with Cassidy and ignore the kids birthday party; and then later become so easily impressed by brainless Shane’s-neh, I realized Clayton isn’t much brighter.

He may be cute and rugged, but Michelle totally dodged a bullet with this guy. He acts like he is trying out for the part of Moose - of Archie Comics fame.

There should be a spin-off show called "FU Bachelor" starring the B'ettes who leave voluntarily, and the no-rosers who leave dry-eyed and cheerful. They could stay in a comfortable house nearby and wear flannel jammies and no makeup, and have cats and dogs, and eat cookies, and provide snark narrative as the show airs.

Did anyone else notice during the Susie-Clayton date, nearly every 5th work out of Susie's mouth was "like" ??? WTF?

Somewhat bored with this season.

You must be Here for the Right Reasons. There’s been more drama packed into these first two episodes than we’ve seen in years—possibly in Bachelor History. Two women (plus a third that the producers had mercy not to broadcast) rejected Clayton on the first night! In episode 2, we’ve had two of the more melodramatic “villains” emerge that we’ve ever met—one teetering on the brink because she really doesn’t know how to be a villain and she’s just trying too hard to emulate her mean girl friend, and going so overboard even the genuine bitch is like, you’re kind of acting like a jerk. This is prime Wrong Reasons entertainment right here.

Agreed.  Though I agree with others that there is plenty of drama, it is the type of drama I am bored with.  I don't mind the ruthless women, but what I do mind is stupid Bachelors that feed into it like such an idiot.  Oh, you clearly are a b****, but I love your confidence and how you don't participate in the activities I have asked you to, and took the time to spend time with me.  Ugh!  It drives me bonkers when they say they are there for love and then attach themselves to the worst women.

Agree re:  how boring this season is.

It's so "Unreal" (the show).

I envision the producers with their whiteboards, moving each character around.  Cassidy will be our Villain!  Shenae will be the next attempted villain, but she'll go home crying!  Elizabeth will be our Poor Victim!  Susie will be our Fan Favorite!  Girl with lots of curly hair (can't remember her name, super cute) will be our Shining Star!

Girl who refused the pre-show rose will return in....dramatic fashion!!!

It's so.....produced.

Yeah, I think it's Clayton that's boring. It's hard to watch him stare unnervingly at a woman while she's talking, with that most unfortunate forelock of curls also seeming to be staring at her, with no palpable interest coming through. It's probably just that he's nervous and uncomfortable with the cameras and all, but it looks soooo awkward.

Also, his complete acceptance of Shenae's words about Elizabeth was weird. What did she actually accuse her of? She was her friend, but then not her friend? What? That is hardly an accusation worthy of investigation.

I don't know why Clayton is so particularly dull to me, this show has had more than its share of dolts, dullards, and doofuses. But I'm struggling to see anything in this guy that anyone would fight over. His wardrobe is particularly atrocious, I hope he watches the show and burns every Henley tee he owns, his sloping shoulders on top of giant arms are such a strange look. And a hoodie under a suit jacket? Okay then...

Were Cassidy and Shenae friends before this? They come across like they've known each other for years, there's an ease to their conversations that doesn't usually happen in a few days.

Clayton is devoid of any personality. Do we know anything about him other than he wants to be married and start a family? That last outtake with him dressed as a clown was very telling. He had no idea what to do. The women had to tell him what to do - tell a joke, juggle, do a goofy dance. I thought he was chosen because of how he interacted with kids. But he happily trotted off with Cassidy to the pool to make out rather than to have fun with them.

Agree that Clayton is dull as dishwater.

But he actually has an impressive resume, working for several years in a very difficult, stressful job in Medical device, for the notoriously most demanding company, calling on orthopedic surgeons.  But that company is known for hiring 2 types:  super pretty girls and ex-college athletes.

His blank stare and loud sloppy kissing (ick) makes me literally mute the sound every time he goes in for one.

I think that Clayton bores me because he isn't a witty or insightful guy.  The girls completely outshine him and have to work to keep the conversations going while he just gives short, repetitive phrases in response like he's a press the button to hear me talk toy.

To be fair, who wants to go on first dates and have first-time conversations with a person and listen to sob stories and drama? No one cares and there's only so many responses you can say. I see a lot of stuff about Clayton not being bright but the bachelor and ettes are directed to have these forced conversations. It happens every season. You think the leads actually want to have these conversations? I'm sure they just want to go to sleep!

This is exactly why I prefer the Bachelorette to the Bachelor.  Too many of these guys have not able to see through the competitive, catty BS.  And personally, I've experienced too many times that an MBA does not impart emotional intelligence!

Within a week or two, Shanaenae will be booted and some other wacko will emerge from the shadows as the latest villain, and we’ll forget all about this other Shananae ruining your good name.

Yes, it stood out to me that in every shot of him interacting with the kids, it came across a bit forced, like he knows the kids angle is his "thing" for the season, but can't hold it up.

He stood out on that one date on Michelle's season because the other guys didn't have much interest in the kids, but he's just too bland to carry a whole season.

Hopefully, the silver lining to another dud season is that the casting folks might start to look past the bland white dudes, the Coltons and the Claytons in the future and cast a more dynamic personality next time.

The dynamic personality is the key here, not the ethnicity. Matt James was as bland as they come.

Hahaha I work for an MBA program, so I can say Amen to that! Some of our students astonish me...😂

It's definitely a trend that the men have a tougher time seeing through the mean girls and the silly drama. I too prefer the Bachelorette, the guys generally get along and have fun and the women are much better at sending home the troublemakers (like Michelle did).

Clayton is actually somewhat witty and self-deprecating on his Twitter (if I knew how to post his Tweets here, I would). The bar for "witty" on this show is low, but he at least shows a bit of life and snarkiness on there. He was making fun of himself a lot during the episode, joking that the girls were 1000x more excited to see Hilary Duff than to see him, making fun of his own outfits, etc.

But that guy is nowhere to be found on the show so far. I wish they'd let these people have some personality rather than force them to listen to tragic stories on every date.

I would win that season.  My tinder profile has no photos of me in makeup, and I pretty much am like, "My cat has more personality than you, so, pass" (Granted, my cat has a LOT of personality). And my mom bought me new flannel pjs for Christmas.  LET'S GO!!!!

Yes, the way the show is edited, it looks like he has a 60 second conversation with a woman, then they start making out.   I assume the conversations are longer, and the producers are under the impression we want  to see 2 things - make-out sessions, and the women fighting and crying.

Shanaenae doesn’t even know how to do a Wrong Reasons accusation! It has to be about how the person isn’t here to fall in love with the lead! You can’t say Elizabeth was nice to me on the first day but she didn’t talk to me the next day. (Maybe it’s because she saw you chasing after the evil Cassidy?) But Clayton is so stupid that he takes this as a legitimate complaint and lodges a formal Wrong Reasons investigation.

Love the concept of a "formal Wrong Reasons investigation"!   They can have notable Bachelor Nation lawyers Andi Dorfman (Bachelor season 18 with Juan Pablo and B'ette season 10) and Riley Christian (B'ette season 16) as counsel.

Really, sincerely wanted Clayton to look at Shenae and say, "You are crying because a girl wasn't looking at you when you were trying to talk to her?  And you want me to do something about that?"  And then start walking with her like he was going to confront Elizabeth, but instead walk right past Elizabeh and then walk Shenae out.

It's funny, though, that the women are in a sense superior at being a sane individual lead, but are so much worse as a group.

So Cassidy is the producer's choice for a few weeks, right? She's not even an interesting "villain."

I think it goes further than that.  I think that the producers already knew about the FWB guy, and they worked on the timing with the girl who is going to rat out Cassidy to Clayton.  So although they didn't tell Clayton about the FWB directly, they told him to go ahead and give Cassidy the rose at that group date, for stirring-up-drama purposes, but also told him that something is going to happen where you will be able to get the rose back and get rid of her if you want.

That’s definitely what I’m thinking, like they were doing damage control to make him more likeable since he wasn’t a popular choice, but it sure doesn’t carry over      into the show. Maybe that’s why there is so much kissing so he doesn’t have to open his mouth…to talk, that is.

Wouldn't surprise me, but most of the past leads have not been quite as self-deprecating there either, rather more politically correct/marketing type posts. If the show got him help to look funny on Twitter, they could/should have helped him appear to have more personality on the show too!  😂

This will not be popular but he’s giving me Bob Guiney vibes & based on the previews I could be right. Two episodes in & the endless face-devouring & smacky noises are annoying me greatly. For a guy who is supposedly smart he seems pretty dumb. Maybe as we go on I’ll change my mind.

He's giving me a bad vibe, like the popular guy in HS who was a little too smooth. I hope he chills the hell out cuz right now he looks douchey. And the last thing I'd want to do is make out with a guy thirty seconds after someone else had their tongue down his throat. Maybe that's just me.

And to just take someone's word that another contestant is "two faced" just seems incredibly naive.  Mimbo?
