I still can't get over that Pam and Tommy basically had no rights when it came to their STOLEN PRIVATE tape .  The Seattle internet guy had more rights than they did.  Ridiculous!!!  I understand Pam wanted to move on from it, but I thought it was stupid they didn't agree to some sort of compensation for the tape.  She even mentioned that people thought they were getting paid, so why not?

They were about 30 minutes from Lake Mead and needed to rest for the night but I didn't understand why they didn't pick a small motel instead of a super busy, super public hotel on the Las Vegas Strip. They are definitely not the brightest people.

Regardless of the tape, Pam was never going to be taken seriously as an actress, IMO.  She has always been and always will be cast in roles that are about her body/looks/sex kitten appeal.

I thought the ending was abrupt.  I think the series should have been one or two more episodes just to show their marriage after the sex tape frenzy died down and Tommy's anger escalating.  I'm also disappointed they didn't show Tommy having more of drinking problem.  Supposedly, that was a huge factor (besides the DV incident) of why they got divorced.

Definitely not the brightest. For sure! Well, successful actresses usually know how to act so that leaves Pam out😆

I watched the series just a few days ago and I couldn't find this stinkin forum anywhere and was dying to read what everyone thought about it. I was completely fascinated. I was born in 82, and this brought so much nostalgia. I remember this happening and hearing about it, but I was way too conservative to know any details. It was cool to see this juxtaposed with he rise of the internet (dang how far that has come!)....I remember when we first got AOL...good times. Also Third Eye Blind was absolutely my jam, I still don't know any Motley Crue songs (except maybe the chorus of Girls, Girls, Girls), I will still rock out to some Third Eye Blind if it comes on the radio.

I am completely shocked at some of the reactions towards Pam in this thread. I felt so much sympathy for her watching this. Tommy gets high-fived while Pam gets put thro the ringer. Regardless of what she did before, this was a video of an intimate moment in her and Tommy's life, they never meant for it to be shared, it was kept somewhere they considered to be safe. And this was pre internet time so I doubt they ever expected that even if it did end up in the wrong hands it could get circulated the way it did, as Tommy said "who the hell is still using Hi-8 in those days."

Rand gets zero sympathy.  Also, Seth Rogan seems to be a bit obsessed with filming himself doing porn or being involved in porn.

So disheartening to see the outcome and the fact that the Seattle guy could get the rights to the video, actually pay someone off for the original and take ownership of it and then profit from selling it. It is beyond disgusting. The internet has in so many ways enriched our lives but at a huge cost to our privacy.

I enjoyed seeing how the internet in its relative infancy became an important part of the story, and the beginning of porn on the internet moving from video tape. I was very surprised that the Seattle sex-cam guy won the rights to show the stolen tape for free without consent, even if it was out in the public because people paid for it. i'm curious if they appealed that ruling, i guess not, since Pam got Tommy to agree to give away the rights (so she would never be accused of being paid for sex).

i read some comments about how the show made Tommy appear sympathetic. i didn't get that. Pam, absolutely. she really did nothing wrong and she sustained the brunt of the fall out, of course, because she is a woman, and she posed in Playboy. but if tommy wasn't an asshole to begin with, none of this would have happened. sure, no one deserves to be burgled (in general), but if tommy hadn't at least let Rand take his tools, Rand never would have planned his heist.

and while tommy was for sure upset that a private tape was in public, it seemed to me that he was more upset with how upset Pam was about it, that she kept saying how big a deal it was to her, and it changed her demeanor towards him and their marriage (because he never understood how much it affected her more than him - even if he didn't consent either). and Pam was 100% correct that they never should have sued Penthouse. Streisand effect in effect.

all that said, apparently Barb Wire was still a bad movie and its unclear that Pam would have done all that much better in her acting career even without the sex tape. I never saw that movie and when i looked it up, i had to chuckle at the plot line: California is the last hold out of a former US that is now in control of facists. Wow, how prescient that was. it was mentioned in the show that Pam was up for the Elizabeth Hurley role in Austin Powers and i have to say, I think Pam would have done pretty well in that role. its possible she did lose that role because of the tape.

I just saw it. Tommy Lee could be likeable and then just hateful. I've seen Pam interviews, and she seems sweet. I was never into Tommy Lee's muisc. I read his book. The penis talks more in there. The book is wacky, but Tommy Lee doesn't really talk about his failings.

That's always been my impression of Tommy. It's strange to see a nice person like Pam with Tommy, Kid Rock, Scott Baio, etc. I get that lots of women are attracted to bad boys/rockers/edge, but still.

It's associating the dark triad/toxic masculinity with strength. Pam seems nice enough but she's always had terrible taste in men.

I'm late to the party here in this thread but I watched this show a few weeks ago and enjoyed it quite a bit. I thought the actors did a great job representing Pam and Tommy.
I must say I was quite surprised at the talking penis scene. After years of rumors about the size of Tommy's penis I figured we would get some full male frontal nudity but I never would have guessed that we'd see one holding a conversation!🤣

I lived through this story when it happened in the 1990s and have  specific memories related to it. First of all, like another poster said I was not aware at the time the tape had been stolen nor of the elaborate story behind how it was obtained. I also did not know that Pam tried to prevent the photos from appearing in Penthouse. It's amazing that she lost that case. The video was stolen from her and yet the courts allowed Guccione to print stills from the stolen tape!

I never saw the video but I did see the photos in Penthouse when they were published. I feel bad now knowing that Pam was very upset over their publication but we did not know this at the time. I guess we thought they had released the tape themselves.

I sort of stumbled upon the the opportunity to see the magazine...it was not something I planned! One of the technicians at the nail salon I went to at that time got ahold of a copy and shared it with a few of us.
We had heard Tommy Lee had a huge penis and we all wanted to see it for ourselves! So for us it was all about checking out his package! I remember looking at the magazine while getting my nails done and I recall the photos being VERY explicit - close up shots of the action. They would have been more explicit than what her photos in Playboy must have been like.

I think the series expressed well the violation Pamela felt with the dialog between the video thief and his ex wife. He had called the tape "porn" and she yelled at him explaining that it was a private act of LOVE and NOT porn.

Despite everything that happened Tommy Lee doesn't seem to have a problem showing off his giant member. He just very recently posted a pic of it on his Instagram!
