Not looking forward to two days of Eboni K. Williams.  She's another one who loves to throw her degrees around and tell everyone how smart she is.  I wonder how many times Sunny will remind Eboni, also an attorney, that she is a former federal prosecutor.  LOL

Looking forward to seeing Eve on Thursday.  I came to enjoy her as a co-host on The Talk.

Here's some great news - I just saw a pic of Eve - she's pregnant!!  So happy for her.  She's wanted a baby for such a long time.  Can't wait to see her on Thursday.

OMG, Eboni - just shut the fuck up already!!!  THIS is the reason that you were not well received on RHONY - your voice is no more important than anyone else's, but apparently, you still think that everyone prefers to hear your voice more than anyone elses.

She continues to preach and lecture at everyone, just as she did on almost every episode of RHONY.  I, for one, view Real Housewives as escapism television - just watching all these supposedly mature women of means making total jackasses of themselves week after week is sort of ridiculous, but if you watch these shows (or any other "reality" TV), you do get invested in them, much like soap operas.

I was rolling my eyes as the guest and Sunny tried to pretend reality TV breaks down stereotypes for Black people. So I LOLed when Joy interrupted it with, "Aren't all the housewives considered argumentative?" That's exactly right. The show is nothing but a bunch of misogynist stereotypes on steroids. A bunch of women who only care about their looks, money, who do nothing but gossip and create drama over everything, who hate and snipe at one another because none of them can have a friendship with another woman to save their lives, etc. etc.

Admittedly I do not watch reality TV but from clips I have seen of various reality shows they make everyone look bad.  White, black, brown doesn't matter.

This. For those who didn't watch, Whoopi brought up the reality show her daughter had and talked about how the ratings were bad because nobody was interested in a reality show where people acted normal.

People gripe about the View Your Deal segment, but I've caught some deals via that segment. Last week, I was about to shell out $65 for this face mask I use. Caught it on the View for $29.95 with free shipping.

Eboni K. Williams does not know how to speak/reply in concise, short sentences.  She only knows how to speak in paragraphs, thereby, any message she may be trying to make becomes lost in the word salad.  At least she sounds intelligent, unlike a former co-host who also liked to drone on.

I wonder if she was the same way when she was a contributor on Fox News?  I had never even heard of her until RHONY.

I don't think I will be watching tomorrow.

This was not funny to me. Joy derailed Sunny's point to ask obtuse questions and force a joke. Joy often does this and it's peak privileged white woman behavior, in my opinion.

Or maybe they didn't want to watch a show about someone they had never heard of.  Alex is not famous. Her mother is.

RE: Real Housewives shows - Sunny herself read a comment that most people watch them for "the drama". That's why the editors pick the clips that highlight arguments and disagreements by all the housewives, not just the black cast members. So how does that square with the complaint that black women are portrayed as argumentative? If the point is to highlight drama, what kind of portrayal do you expect to have? If someone signs up for a RH franchise, they have plenty of examples to view to see how you are likely going to be shown as. If you want to appear "normal", maybe you should sign up for a cooking or house flipping show, not one where the women are encouraged to do outrageous things.

Sara wanted to know if there was a sperm shortage lol.
Funny Whoopi Goldberg did not mention she was in with Ted Danson about a sperm donor.
I don’t really like Ebony but she does have a fantastic wardrobe.

Sunny did come with statistics to support her argument.   But she didn't get to finish her point after Joy interrupted.

I did like Eboni's point about people complaining about her bringing racial issues to the show.   These shows are lightweight fluff.   But they do also bring in serious issues about what's going in their lives like legal issues, divorce, illness, death of family members etc.   So it bugs me that people complain about Eboni or Garcelle who bring up racial issues that affect them and their lives.    To be dismissive of that but not the other housewives causes or issues because you (societal you/not specific "you") want escapism... doesn't sit right.

This is the second or third time she's recently brought it up. What was the name of it?  Did it play and get canceled?  If its been roughly 5-10 yrs since, they may want to give another go.  Reality shows go in different ways and there's so many new streaming chans, or tv like MEtv.  Many more options

This reminds me when people say they are tired of hearing about racism. Just think how tired people are of living with racism.

YES! And folk that bring up these kind of unpleasant, real life issues DO get labelled as argumentative or problematic. Both in real life and on reality shows. And this happens particularly to Black and Brown women.

It's true that the worst kinds of behavior are highlighted on these Housewife reality shows, but, there is a difference when folk are highlighting actual issues, and they should not be lumped in with the rest. At least not in those moments.

It did play and it was rightfully canceled.  They should not give it another go.  It was awful.  One episode's big drama was Whoopi's daughter looking for her purse.

I was just going to ask if anyone here ever saw the show and what exactly was Alex doing in it that was so worth watching.  I mean, we know the cameras didn't follow her to work, so ... ?  Looking for a purse.  Riveting.

Whoopi was probably hoping Alex would support herself instead of sponging off mom.

Other than that, Whoopi was in good humour most of the show, which I haven't seen in a long time. Maybe she should take a week off to act more often.

I agree…how many times do we hear about the effect of bad childhood from Ramona or bad marriages or loss,of spouses…but suddenly racism as experienced by POC in the cast aren’t important enough to talk about?  And sunny was right as well…because if you watch these shows, yes everyone argues, but the white womens reaction to  a POC arguing back is often quite different.

They didn't realize they were back on the air because of stupid Brian--who was yapping, and then suddenly, it's 10 seconds before the noon news (in my area) is about to start, and Whoopi only has time to do a confused have a good day.

I blame Brian.

And good lord Howdy. Eboni had to repeat every single comment/question when she spoke, as if the audience and the co-hosts didn't know what the question or comment was that Whoopi, Sara, or Sunny asked or said. I found that very condescending.

I don't watch any of these real housewives shows; have no desire or interest. So pardon my ignorance in asking this: if you're on these shows, shouldn't you be a...wife? And from what Eboni said today, she isn't? She's looking for her Mr. Perfect? Or was she married when she was on the show?

I won't lie. I laughed my ass off at Whoopi's story of scaring Alex during Halloween when she was six or seven.

I always wonder this too.  And I could be wrong but isn't a woman usually described as a housewife because she is not working outside the home?  I think most, if not all of the "housewives" work in some capacity or another - actress, business owner etc.   I guess the name just sounds catchy?

I caught that too.  I don't like her.  She wants to be the alpha at the table and I don't see Whoopi or Joy or Sunny standing for that. Guest hosting she might get away with it but if she was hired full time I think there would be friction.

I wish they had asked Eboni, during the sperm donor discussion, if she would have felt the same way if her father had been a sperm donor.  It’s one thing to want to know who the MAN who impregnated your mother is; it’s a little different if she went to a sperm bank.  Because I agree with Whoopi and Sunny; sperm donors aren’t trying to start families and deserve privacy.  Medical information - yes; personal interaction - no.

Dear Sunny,

As someone who is the product of a sperm donor, shut up. You have no idea what it feels likes to not know where you come from, not know who you look like and not know if you have siblings out there in the world. Would you say the same thing about kids who are adopted, that they should just know their medical history? Maybe some men would stop donating but plenty donate saying they would be okay getting contacted when the child turns 18. Let’s just say not knowing where you come from really messes you up.

Regarding housewives, no they don't have to be actual housewives or even wives. Most of the women work outside of the show. Most of them have been wives at some point and have children though. It's basically just rich women in various cities. The drama is part of the appeal for many. I'll admit the drama surrounding Meghan's favorite housewife Erika this season has been quite compelling to me. That's a huge scandal and was mentioned on The View recently. But a big part of the appeal of these shows is also the lifestyle. The women are very glamorous and live in these big, beautiful homes, drive hot cars, have a bunch of designer clothes, go on lavish trips, etc. It's what initially drew me to the Beverly Hills one, I think they probably bring the lifestyle porn better than all the cities.

I don't watch the NY housewives, but I do watch Beverly Hills and watched Dallas. I don't care for how some of the women treat Garcelle Beauvais, who's the nicest person in the whole cast. Crystal Minkoff isn't my favorite, but she's done nothing to deserve the hateful racist messages she receives. Dr. Tiffany Moon off Dallas was also targeted not just by another housewife, but different members of her family. There was a housewife on Dallas I found super entertaining, but she made a lot of ugly comments about a Mexican housewife. She was fired after that season because she was so offensive.

100% Even though these shows are supposed to be light, they never have been 100% of the time. Season 2 of RHOBH was probably most heavy of all. One of the women being physically abused and her abusive husband committing suicide were issues included in the show. There's no reason they can't discuss race.

Maybe I am wrong but I thought when you donate sperm you are required to provide medical history and some other information such as educational level and any special talents.    Women don't just blindly choose someone's sperm.  They look at what's available and choose the one they think would provide them with a healthy happy baby. Some women want the donor to look a certain way. Some want a donor who is very intelligent.  Some want a donor who is athletic.   And as far as children being able to find their donor fathers I think sperm donors should be able to opt in for any children they have fathered to be given their contact information.

Joy, it’s not forgetting to have a baby. It’s waiting and learning too late that you can’t without a whole lot of time, expense, and heartache. It’s not a joke.  Whoopi did have a good point though that this class should not imply that being pregnant is right for everyone.

I agree with Sunny that public figures, including the President, should be mindful of how they appear with and without masks. If you are urging people to wear masks, get vaccinated, etc. then you really should make a major effort to be the best example and not make excuses later.
