Heh, that she wasn't there didn't even occur to me until I read this.

Thinking about it I’m calling producer shenanigans on the gold column dress being in the top three. Basic af, no innovation or interest. It was top three to promote the drama.

Aaron was robbed.

Just noticed Bones' surname: Jones. Bones Jones.

The right person went home but damn why didn't the girl who made the outfit that looked like a clowns costume be on the bottom?  They couldn't come up with one reason for the bows?

Which look was the clown costume? Was it  by any chance Kristina's sea glass blue garment with ruffles that tied at the wrists and neck?  That one was my fav of the cool team's. lol

Frankly, I'm surprised to see anyone that age smoking actual cigarettes.

I'm always surprised when I meet someone in my generation (I'm an older millennial) who smokes cigarettes too, because we know better. My grandmother used to smoke cigarettes because everyone smoked everywhere all the time then, because no one knew how harmful it was.

I had no idea this show was coming back until I saw that it had recorded. It was a great surprise!

I hate Bones' blonde wavy wig he had on in a brief talking head clip. It clashes with his skin (which is beautiful).

Looks I liked: Nina's sequin dress, "Darren's" gold sequin gown (IMO he should have gone home for not making anything), the bottom of the coral dress (loved the movement and POCKETS!), Aaron's maroon suit (maroon/burgundy is one of my favorite colors, especially to wear, and I loved the movement of the pants), the red parachute pants look (wouldn't wear it for many reasons but it was a cool streetwear kind of look).

Looks I didn't like: the red puff sleeves with the cutout bodice, both green looks, the light blue look that reminded me of Frozen, the purple and black design (that was WAY worse than the lavender plus-size design and IMO should have been in the bottom over Chastity). I disliked most of the cool team's looks.

I was surprised that Meg is 35. I would have guessed maybe 10 years older.

I don’t know who made it, but there was a look on the winning team that was a red top and bottom connected in the middle by a yellow strappy thing. As it walked the runway the designer said something about being able to make a look from one color. Someone remind me when yellow became a part of red? I was surprised no one called him out on that, because IMO it was the pop of yellow that made his look stand out.

I wasn't able to find a recap that had photos.  I guess Tom and Lorenzo aren't doing them anymore?  Except that if you google Tom and Lorenzo season 19 episode 1 looks, and then look on Google images, you can see the outfits, and click on them, and the link to the T&L site...but you can't find them on the T&L site otherwise.

There is a Critique thread on reddit in their Project Runway forum that has pictures posted, but you have to scroll through the thread to find each picture.

Why isn't Bravo posting the runway pictures?  WTF?

I love Christian for the simple fact that he really does design for women of ALL sizes. I follow him on Instagram and while I don't like every single thing he comes up with, I love his inclusivity.

Bones was a total ass insulting Christian especially on their first outing.

In my opinion both Bones and the other guy should have been excluded from winning. It was like having someone write your term paper. Both should be given a failing grade.

So happy the show.is back but I think the first challenge should not have been a team challenge be and maybe no eliminations on the first challenge is a good idea for the future.

But why should  Bones have been excluded? They've had people helping their competitors in several other seasons? I thought that was encouraged. Agreed that the one he helped should have been out though.

Agreed about the first challenge not being a team challenge. I think they would all have benefited by having at least a look at their competitors' skills and attitudes.

I liked Chastity's look and couldn't figure out why it was in the bottom.  Megan's look seemed less flattering than Caycee's and looked liked there were construction issues where the seams were gathered. Darren is not long for the competition and I really feel the judges should have made an exception and sent him home despite his team winning.  For someone else to put together his entire look is a new first.

Good grief, call me old if you want, but I had to close my eyes when Octavio was on my screen.  You might be "known" (his word not mine since I've never heard of him), but dyeing your Hitler moustache bright red doesn't make it attractive.  And paired with a leather crown?

Bones needs to stop raiding my dad's handkerchief drawer for things to put on his head.

Nice attempt at an explanation/excuse (sorry, can't remember who said it), but a group of women going out together doesn't dress cohesively because they're not on a competitive reality TV show when they've been told to make a collection.

I think it was Megan’s look someone mentioned upthread that looked like it was a dress you can buy off the rack today at Nordstrom’s—IIRC it was the plain black skirt with a blue/green billowy top that made the model appear to have boobs cascading down her sides? It read very Lane Bryant to me (which is fine in real life but just not anything groundbreaking for PR). For someone who crowed about dressing all body types it was a disappointing design.

All in on Aaron, partly because he got sick of Bones’ endless harrumphing about being or not being a leader and called him out on it. Pleeeease don’t let him be a doodyhead.

I thought Prajje's was dreadful - dated, poorly sewn, awful colours, ill-fitting (despite Prajje telling us otherwise), tacky and cheap looking.

I never found outside zips attractive and I thought (hoped) they had finally left the scene. If you're trying for a sleek look, why would you add an element that never lies flat and just draws attention to that fact?

That long yellow dress did the model no favours - one padded, supported boob pushed off to the side and one unsupported droopy jiggly one.

Chastity is a horrible name to encumber your child with.

Brandon said he looks for “color, fabric, construction , a point of view”. This was said during the deliberation part of the show when the designers are not present. It came up in the context of Casey’s dress/coat/robe.

Bones was a bit much, but then he pulled it out. Silver Fox’s garment was top 3, but they needed drama. A couple of those models were terrible walkers.

I don’t miss Tim at all. He stopped giving valuable criticism somewhere in season 8 and just became a nice voice with stock phrases. I do miss Heidi. Never thought I’d say that.

I loved Bones pulling that cigarette out of Darren’s mouth and dragging him back into the workroom. Chasity is so nervous it’s killing her creativity.

I don't know, because I'm still in the camp that thinks clothes look better on beanpoles.  But I find the inclusion of just a couple of big models to border on tokenism at best, and unfair to the designers at worst.

I agree completely, it is tokenism. It’s been going on long enough that a pattern has emerged that the designers with the plus sized models are in the bottom more often than not. I wish the show would rectify this somehow because it’s getting offensive how obvious it is. The reality is that clothes look better on women built like clothes hangers. I say this as a woman who wears a 38C bra and fluctuates between a size 10-12. I don’t watch this show for realism - how many times are they making clothes out of vegetables or car parts or some other “unconventional material “, or working with the idea that the gal is heading to the opera or movie premiere or some other ridiculous activity? I don’t know about everyone here, but I’ve never been to the opera. Why do the models have to reflect real people when more often than not the clothes do not? They should just stop this nonsense and either make everyone use a plus size model at the same time or no one uses a plus size model because it’s apparent two sets of criteria are used when judging them. Ok, rant over……

Cannot believe Aaron’s look was not top 3, if not outright winner. But the show decided to award drama over good fashion. I certainly would have put it over Mustache Man’s look - he made a freaking tube top! Ironic, since that is the same item of clothing Christian told Darren was too basic! Speaking of….
Bones marching outside and ripping that cigarette out of Darren’s mouth and hauling him back indoors was an instant classic moment on this show. Hilarious! And Darren should have been a surprise second auffing because he made nothing. Oh well, he is not going to last long……

You really need to listen to Tom and Lorenzo’s podcast this week. They pretty much dragged the show while claiming they weren’t. It was a lot of “We cut our teeth on this show and Nina was always wonderful to us, so we’re not dragging it… but it’s been 18 years and they’ve only had one real success… unlike ANTM or American Idol who have produced people who have gone on to genuine careers and awards… and don’t you dare say Michael Costello to me…” - And there I was sitting listening and thinking “…but what about Michael Coste… oh “.

This can't be said enough. Coming on to Christian was eye-rollingly inappropriate in itself. But cracking under pressure and presenting someone else's work? GTFOH!

I know Bones' time/effort was limited, but I wish his official look had boob support. I'm going to go ahead and blame that on Darren, too.

As for Team Cool . . . I question some of their taste issues. I actually liked Chasity's design best and preferred that to the teal getup with the polka-dot poncho top, which was just as bad as the lavender bathrobe. And the judges are full of shit. If Chasity had trusted her gut, they would have dinged her on Not Being a Team Player. Whatever happened to the flower idea?

I have a feeling that Meg is going to be doing some Wendy Pepper (RIP) style shit stirring. I mean, yes, its terrible to lose a parent.  But after two years one would think she'd have developed some coping strategies for when she's among strangers. Why spread photos all over her pillow and gaze at them? She was dying for someone to ask her why she was sniffling and gulping and sighing. And didn't mind one bit intruding on the others' meditation time. I'm sorry she lost her mother, clearly it was traumatic for her. But if she's that fragile, what is she doing there? I think our Meg is going to prove to be a crier who uses her tears to manipulate. But I suck at predictions.

Bones is hilarious to me. He's going to provide lots of entertainment, for good or ill. I was also impressed by Aaron, who seems down to earth and a person who sees through bullshit very well. Darren? Hot mess drama queen. I liked Sabrina also. Everyone else is just a blur.

Exactly. The male couturiers though of them simply as nameless mannequins who were one step above a dress form. No big breasts, hips or behinds.

This was a smart first challenge because it quickly gave the viewers  glam designs whose colors photographed beautifully. I hope PR will steer away from the rapid craft-style challenges, because the results look like high school home ec projects. That's not what I watch for.

Christian handled Bones' arrogance well. I continue to love Christian's snappy remarks.

The guy who didn't make his own dress should have been sent home.

I loved Aaron's cranberry outfit - stunning. Should have been the winner, but I think production wanted to feature the Bones drama. I thought Bones' designs were too simple, and his own gold outfit was hideous.

I think I'm gonna enjoy Zayden.

The pale pink pantsuit was so awful I was surprised to see it.

So Jason Wu isn't affiliated with a conglomerate? Has it always been that way?

I enjoyed watching the show, and will keep watching, but will likely get angry at judging every week.

Bones and Meg are both waaaaaayyyyy too much, so will likely be on for quite a while regardless of what they design.

I am definitely on Team Christian. As much as I loved Tim, by the later seasons, his advice to the contestants as a mentor were no longer helpful, and often clashed with what the judges wanted to see. Bones was beyond disrespectful. Fine, trust your own opinion, but Christian is incredibly successful for a reason.

There are still too many designers to make predictions, but I would definitely like to see more from Aaron, red mustache, and some of the cool palate designers (though definitely not the one that freaked out about the sewing machine.

It’s interesting to read the comments about people feeling that designers that get plus size models are never at the top, because I did a rewatch of the previous season and sound the opposite. It was like wow- you did that cheap looking, awful design but you are celebrating your models body! I’m of two minds- yes, of course the designers should be able to design for all shapes and sizes, but the majority of established, famous designers cannot so who should these new designers be able to do so?

We should expect more from designers, both professionals and the ones trying to make it.  At a minimum, they should be able to design for women's bodies if they want to be designers of women's clothes.  That should be a given!!!  Clothes should fit and enhance a woman's figure, otherwise what is the point?  Art?  Become an artist, then, not a designer of women's clothing.

I was sure that was going to be the eliminated design for that very reason.  It's not just a plus-size style, that dress has been on the racks since the 80s.  There's nothing new about it.

The show was half over before I realized “Oh! There’s no host!” Just proves how much we needed one. As in, not at all.

I want to know how many production assistants were needed to pool Elaine’s dress around her ankles in such precise waves.

Bones: “I am not the leader. Don’t you dare call me the leader. I will not take responsibility for this team.”
Judges: “Who is the leader of this winning team?”
Bones: “MeMeMeMeMe. I am the leader! I take full responsibility for all wins!” Douche.

No matter what you may think of Christian, Bones rejecting his advice was just stupid. If you are so great that “outside opinions” don’t matter, then why are you on this show? And why have I never heard of you? I just don’t understand the rationale behind deeming irrelevant someone who a) knows what it takes to reach a level of success that you are still only dreaming of, and b) knows how to win this competition. Bones may be talented. But Bones is also an arrogant idiot.

Christian, on the other hand, is awesome. So glad to see him back.

Count me joyous this show has returned! Altho'  I do prefer the prior form in places - particularly wish they'd kept calling the winning and losing looks onto the runway all at once. Calling them from the back one by one ( O! who will it be ?!😲) feels like a lame attempt at a bit of low drama/ time-stretch. Hope this stops.

Count me among the folks who were stunned that Aaron's gorgeous red outfit wasn't even mentioned by the judges. When it walked out my first reaction was "Wow! Now that's gotta be in the top 3 and will probably be the winner!". I could appreciate Bones' creation(s) but Aarons' design, fit, and sewing skills certainly eclipsed Bones with this outfit.

I was reminded of the season way back where the young woman (from somewhere like Trinidad?)who had only learned basic sewing a few weeks prior to the show & wound  making pretty much the same long, flowy dress for every single challenge. The judges loved her. Her talent lay in making every model look utterly gorgeous and in her ability to make the observers feel the  "wearing this makes you beautiful" thing and she won the season. Hope this episode isn't hinting at something similar for this season...

Meg has beautiful bright coloring and seems just a teensy bit unstable.😕😯

Her dress looked to me like a middle school Home Ec project ( dating myself no doubt-- do Home Economics classes even still exist these days? ). It looked poorly sewn and ill-fitting. A belt or sash would've helped. At least covered up the thin puckery  seam  joining top & skirt. The fabrics also seemed flimsy--as tho' a wide stride or a fast drop onto a couch might cause a rip.

Bones seems  a very young 30 and maturity hasn't caught up to talent / intellect. I predict a major misstep or two down the road.

Darren is quite the mess so far. Does he actually design? Have talent? Understand where he is or what is expected of him?  I think he'll be leaving fairly soon.

I'm so happy there's actually a show on Bravo that doesn't feature criminals,  sloppy drunks, emotional cripples, delusional elderly women who are emotionally crippled sloppy drunks, or nasty insincere back-biting bitchy has-beens/ never-weres, wannabe famous harridans, shouting and cackling at ear-splitting  volume on every episode of every other show on this network.

Fingers crossed PR -- please be an awesome (even just normal) season! I need it!
