Also Blake has beautiful lips.  Sorry but I think that's also part of it.

Shockingly, it kind of seems like Blake is telling the truth.  However, it really feels that Katie is lying (about being super happy and in love with him.)  Sorry.  That's what I see.  I could be totally wrong.

I genuinely do really like Tayshia as host.  I'm not kidding.  I would like Kaitlyn too if I wasn't constantly freaked out by her new robot face.

This entire season was about a woman playing with garbage in the desert.  The set designers need to be FIRED.

And so should the Location Scout (probably one poor person).  I know it was COVID.  I know the lobby and entrance were beautiful.  Still...no one needs to set up fireworks and some silly fire god when the U.S. has more fires than ever before.  Is the Bachelor Franchise so financially desparate they chose the desert?

Don't like Kaitlyn in this job.  I didn't know her previous face, but I don't think she has what it takes to "co-host."  It's insulting to think TPTB assume it requires TWO WOMEN to replace Chris Harrison.  Let Tayshia fly!

I thought about this overnight and my conclusion is that Blake was scripted to be "not sure" and "insecure" so viewers would get all in a bundle that he would not propose and Poor Katie would be left standing alone at the end. What guy would get all breathless and shaky and scared just looking at rings. (Scripted.) Then Tay pipes up from HER script that Blake could just walk away if he's not sure. So he gets up and walks away. Scripted.

We see Katie getting all duded up in her Proposal Dress and then we see Blake walking around outside in his capri pants, wondering if he can really get engaged. Like he doesn't know that people on this franchise get engaged and unengaged every season since the beginning of time. Getting engaged means pretty much nothing on this show.

Then Katy arrives at the Death Stage of No Proposal out in the dead sticks of the desert. Nothing about the setting said Happy Ending or even Have A Nice Day. Although now we see Blake magically dressed in some formal wear and he shows up on the Wooden Deck of Death in the Desert. But he just stands there and says nothing. Scripted.

And Katie, who's been clued into the Big Reveal and knows she's getting that Neil Lane, never looks down or scared or sad or ready to cry because now she thinks Blake is leaving. Because she knows he's not. So she starts in with the blah blah blah whatever ramble about their tru lurv. Blake, as instructed, looks down and uncomfortable and viewers JUST KNOW he's going to bail. Katie, however, knows he's not so she just waits with bright eyes for the proposal that she already knows is coming. Bad acting, Katie.

After that part of the script is over, the show continues with its budget cuts by putting them on two common bay horses equipped with old saddles pulled from some old barn somewhere. Geesh. If you're going to ride them off into the sunset, what happened to the palomino or white or pinto horses? The trail guide out front was on a pinto, yet the two newly engaged lovers get boring every-day-bay horses. There's also such a thing as fancy tack, silver saddles and breastplates and silver brides with silver inlaid reins, and horse manes and tails can be braided up with ribbons and flowers ... yes, even roses!

This was just one cheap-ass season from start to finish, and COVID had nothing to do with how bad it was. IMO Blake was put into the show just so Katie would get a Neil Lane at the end, which is the whole premise of this franchise. Scripted, start to finish. Only Greg got burned by it, and I hope he does just fine from here out.

Great summary!  And that dust kicking up all over her shoes and dress when she walked in….I mean they couldn’t do this somewhere with paved pathways and plants that were alive?  And why no carriage or some other thing to ride on other than her having to ride a horse barefoot and in a long dress?  Unbelievably stupid all around.  A hotel conference room would have been more romantic.  Lol

I will sit marooned on an island in my deep love for this season's setting. I have family in Albuquerque, and I find it stunning (well, most parts). I loved how gorgeous the desert looked in the background on dates and B-roll. It's not as glitzy as previous seasons, and maybe it didn't quite fit Katie's personality (although I thought her casual daywear looked good against the backdrop), but I never thought anything looked cheap, except for those Hometown dates. Yikes.

Also, call me a sheep taken in by advertising, but I totally want to stay at that resort.

I get that the mom and especially the aunt were intending to come off as no bullshit, let’s get to the facts, we aren’t impressed that we are all on television. Instead IMO they, especially Lindsay, came off as utterly repellent. While I think it was smart to pose questions about Blake’s employment and how the couple would make a home while being on different continents, it was berserk to say “you’re nothing” and “ you’re only here if WE want you.” No, he’s there if Katie wants him.

I think we can see this “cut them down and discard them” mentality in how brutally Katie attacked Greg. You’re in love, you’re blissfully happy, why such venom then?

I agree with @saber5055 that the uncertainty about Blake proposing was all scripted. I’m a hate watcher and always laughed at the fakery on this show. It seemed evident to me that he would propose and that he was pretending to have doubts.

I did not enjoy Tayshia and Kaitlyn as hosts. I’ve said from the start that IMO they detracted from Katie. They were better dressed and inserted a lot of feminine energy into the show that I believe subtracted from Katie’s allure.

I feel for Justin, because someone as low in the pecking order as he was would never have made it to the top two if so many men had not bailed.

Someone asked upthread where I found Katie's net worth to be between $1-5 million. Here is a link:

to a Life and Style article.

Several other sites say the same thing, plus the yearly salary for a bank marketing manager in Washington state is more than $100,000/year. Add in her SM earnings and yeah, she's pretty set financially.

Blake's net worth is estimated to be around $200,000 to $500,000 according to the same source. Of course, both are now set to make even more thanks to SM.

I think we saw shades of this bitter, kind of cruel Katie when she sent Thomas (I think it was him) home.  Instead of just not giving him a rose and escorting him out, she called him up, chewed him out in front of everyone and demanded he "Get out" while pointing the way out.  It was over the top and unnecessary, just like her actions toward Greg last night.  She's not over him and she's not "in love" with Blake.

If I were Blake, I would be concerned that my fiance is so determined to get her #girlboss moment by spending that much energy on her ex and indirectly embarrassing me in the process.

ETA: oh and I will also be concerned that he/she will do the same to me if we were to break up and end on bad terms. Those are red flags.

Exactly on both fronts. What was nice about Chris is he never took allure away from the Bachelorettes. Although he's handsome, his age helped as far as not taking shine away from the Bachelors.

I was the one who asked, and this article is not providing any credible information. She makes low six figures at her job and probably earned low six figures from being Bachelorette, minus taxes and living expenses, so that's much less than the reported $1-5M. And she has less than 1M Instagram followers, so she can't be making that much money from it either. I remember when Amanda Stanton's ex-husband petitioned the court to reduce the spousal support payments, the public documents stated that she was making $30k/month from Instagram. That's a much more realistic number.

Also, no way is unemployed exterminator Blake worth $200-500k unless he has a trust fund or has won a lottery or something.

The people who write these articles don't seem to understand basic arithmetic, much less finance, so those numbers are a complete fabrication.

Reading the comments above…. Yeah, after meeting her aunt, it is easy to see why she is the way she is.   Men aren’t partners, they are disposable underlings.   They serve their purpose and woman, and if they don’t follow the script, the y are gone because they aren’t needed.  Yikes.   Maybe, to make things work, Katie has to move far away from the family,,,,if I was Blake, that would be one of my conditions.

Of course, with Covid, he isn’t going to Africa any time soon.  And Africa is a big place compromised of dozens of countries.   The fact that he was so vague makes me certain he has nothing lined up.

A few thoughts...

1. Kaitlyn pre-plastic surgery was a lot more cute and unique. She did herself no favors. She didn't need a stitch of work.

2. How about Justin for The Bachelor? His facial expression montage was adorable.

3. I am a big believer in "if you can't have a certain guy, find one you can have, and want him" That goes for the Greg/Blake situation. Life goes on; men are like buses, all the cliches.

4. Katie's green gown was blah. The obvious nude fabric inserts aren't supposed to be that noticeable.

5. Has there ever been a season (besides maybe Juan Pablo) that it seemed more taken for granted that the breakup will be announced pretty soon?

I agree about their speculated earnings not being accurate- there is no way that Katie and Blake; two completely inarticulate and dumb people are making that much money.  I'm convinced that most of the jobs listed on TV underneath peoples names on this show are about as realistic as a kindergartener dressing up for Halloween as an astronaut or a president.

I feel like she’s trying way too hard to be the “ independent strong woman boss lady .” Like no one sees you that way Katie .

I just think there are some people in the franchise who are meant to be leads and others that aren’t . Yes , (almost) everyone deserves love , but not everyone is suited to be the bachelor/ette . I have to believe that 30 guys or girls are gonna be interested and attracted to the lead and with Katie I just can’t see it . I don’t even think she’d do well on paradise . She’s cute I guess , but facially, kinda homely .
I know I sound terrible and I know attraction varies so I apologize but I just am not buying all these guys want her or would even pick her up at a bar .

Katie's propsal dress was awful.   She looked like a child playing dress up.      Also, the nudie inserts reminded me of a figure skating costume.    It was just bad.     But maybe that is how they make gowns for horseback riding.  🙅‍♀️

I live in ABQ, and was disappointed with the setting for the final rose too.  They could've easily gone closer to the mountains where the green stuff is and had a beautiful setting.  Show did an "ok" job in showing the mountains, but they could've/should've been featured more, especially since it was winter/early spring when they wrapped shooting and everything out near where the resort is was dead.

You're right, but Katie was very angry with Greg for a supposedly happily engaged woman. When Tayshia was engaged to Zac, she seemed super happy and not at all bitter IRC. (I also think she was a better Bachelorette in every sense.) I didn't watch Rachel's season, so not sure there.

I think on some level, Kaite is pissed that she didn't get her full "Bachelorette" experience.  The men aren't supposed to leave until she sends them packing.  If she really thought Greg was acting, she could have called his bluff and told him she loved him and would stop the process at that point.  She was too stuck on taking the "journey" to the usual conclusion. If she wasn't sure if it was him or Blake, she should understand exactly why that upset him and let him leave gracefully.  By attacking him after choosing Blake, she just made herself look petty and silly.  She wasn't as verbally aggressive with Michael on TMTA, but she was very cold to him and seemed angry when he had a perfectly valid reason for wanting to leave.  Again, if she really saw herself with him at the end, she had the opportunity to stop things at that point.

I think she and Blake both got what they wanted from the process -- He was finally the "chosen" one and she got her illusion of a "fairytale" ending.  I don't think this relationship will go any further than that.

I'm not 100% sure on the timing, but I think it's likely she had just recently seen that episode.  Now she has some distance and saw how he treated her, I can understand it being raw and feeling like she needed to address an insult. She may have also been thinking about a hundred other little microaggressions we didn't see. Who knows?

I don't think her feelings for Blake have to enter into it.

She, like everyone else, are free to feel her feelings. In her shoes, I wouldn't have done the same, but so what?

Brendan is a different story. He was kind and respectful to Tayshia the entire way, and had a reason for leaving that had nothing to do with her behavior. It would have been weird if she was angry with him, based on what we saw.

In Rachel's season, Peter was presented as the frontrunner the whole time.  When he left the night before the final rose, it definitely looked like she was settling for Brian. Rachel has since said the edit was nothing like the reality.

My only point is we can't trust what we see is accurate.  We'll see where Katie & Blake (and Tayshia & Zac) go.

FWIW I thought Tayshia was a better lead too :)

I think Katie has been gunning for a 'hell yeah!' strong Bachelorette moment this whole season, and she keeps overdoing it. I think her 'your Bachelor audition ends tonight!' speech to that one guy (Thomas?) was too much, and now her righteous closure with Greg was too much.  I also think she was genuinely in love with Greg - it's only the people that you love that can hurt you that badly. It's a good thing that Blake is such a confident guy - if the shoe was on the other foot, and Katie went on that whole speech about Blake (or one of the other guys) while Greg was her fiance, I think he would not have handled it well. And FWIW, I don't think either Katie or Greg are horrible - I think they were both two hurt people who had an emotionally bruising break-up, and that sucks. I think that it might be human nature to sort of lick your wounds and turn the other person into a villain in an attempt not to miss them any more - I've done that in the past, although luckily not on national tv. I hope they can all move on and heal.

Strongly agree! and her "strong woman" persona was very much in evidence there--it's clearly an "arc" for her but it backfired strongly when the Greg drama happened. Now that I've read through all the comments I can see I'm not alone in this assessment.

Completely agree with this, especially about Thomas too. As I recall, there were many comments on twitter after that episode too of people saying that yeah, they thought Thomas was angling to be the Bachelor but Katie's reaction was still a bit much and she was doing the most.

I noticed that she was wearing a wedding set, but since she emphasized multiple times how hard marriage is, hers is probably miserable (most likely because she belittles everything her husband says as "cute" and regularly reminds him that he's only there because she wants him, not because she needs him).

BTW, the term "toxic masculinity" is used frequently in modern discourse, but "toxic femininity" is not. I do think it really applies to Katie and her family though.

Katie had way too much work done on her teeth.  And perhaps she had it done too close to the time of filming and she hadn't adjusted to them yet or they simply just don't fit in her mouth correctly.  Weird.
