All Stars 2: Casting Speculation & Spoilers

Recommended Posts

As S37 is filming (or has wrapped up; I don’t keep up), it looks like there will be a second season of All Stars. Paramount has to provide fans a fix at the cost of a service they’ll barely use, right? That’s the case for me. I never make the time, even though the first season of Enterprise was interesting for me.

Just in case you’re new to these speculation threads, DO NOT POST RESULTS SPOILERS. I’m too lazy to through through Vevmo, so I usually look in on Stop Being Polite, where the list is usually updated.

Right now, there are only two “Likely” cast members: Eric Nies and Tina Barta. If you know me, you’ll be correct in me not being thrilled by either of those two. Eric is more or less a man-bimbo that’s gone all spiritual, and he was one of the bigger reasons Battle of the Sexes 2 sucked. Tina was a mouthy Coral knockoff who could barely land a hit on Beth in The Duel. Apparently, she was considered for the first season of All Stars, but she’s rumored to have gotten a positive COVID test result.

This is the “Posdibilities” list:

Yeah, this is probably the first draft, because there are lots of names I can’t see returning. I had to read the list a few times to make sure I wasn’t there.

Here’s the “Unlikely” list:

Quote

Alton Williams (The Real World: Las Vegas 2)

Amaya Brecher (The Real World: Hawaii)

Camila Nakawaga (The Challenge: Spring Break)

Cara Zavaleta (Road Rules: South Pacific)

Frank Roessler (The Real World: Las Vegas)

Jordan Wiseley (The Real World: Portland)

Jisela Delgado (Road Rules: The Quest)- Injured knee on All Stars 1

Rachel Robinson (Road Rules l: Campus Crawl)

Robin Hibbard (The Real World: San Diego)

Zach Nichols (Real World: San Diego 2)

I bet nor many people are shedding a tear over Jisela not returning. Camila being excluded is logical and correct, but with Nia being on the “Maybe” list, one has to wonder if there’s hopes for the canceled. On the other hand, Camila was ten types of “cray” back in the day, and who wants her to snap back to that?

What do you think of the speculation so far?

Same. I'll watch whatever they give me, but there are some people on the list that I really hope to see.

I'm basically hoping that they try to get the people who've been away for awhile. That means no Wes, Jemmye, Darrell, Bananas, etc.  Would love to see a 100% entirely new cast for S2.

Also would like to see separate male/female prizewinners and better pacing on the eliminations.

My dream cast from the possibilities, using the same 11 men/11 women as season 1.

Men: Blair Herter, Chadwick Pelletier, Dan Renzi, Danny Roberts, David Burns, James Orlando, Jamie Murray, Kefla Hare, Landon Lueck, Norman Korpi, Timmy Beggy

Women: Anne Wharton, Ayiiia Elizarras, Casey Cooper, Coral Smith, Elka Walker, Gladys Sanabria, Jodi Weatherton, Melissa Howard, Piggy Thomas, Roni Martin, Svetlana Shusterman

But come on, where's Emily Bailey??

That possibilities list seems really far-fetched for some of them...I also can't see many of them wanting to do it. Seattle Stephen? Svetlana? Piggy??  I thought she was completely done with all of this after her last appearance. But hey, I guess people can change their minds. Still, I can't imagine it. And it'd be really weird (and evil) if Adam Larson and New Orleans Danny got cast, considering...their history.

I really need Johnny to stay away. He may technically be an "older school" player, but jeez he's practically the spokesman for the main challenge after being on 700 seasons and I don't want him taking over this show, as well. This goes for Wes, too, as much as I like Wes. I wanna see people who have not been seen on MTV in forever.

All that said, if dreamy Seattle David agrees to do it, I will be ALL in. I mean, I'll be all in anyway, but still.

Mostly agree with these choices! If I had to choose and 11/11 team from the list above, I'd pick:

Fellas: Blair, Chadwick, Miami Dan, Seattle David, New Orleans Jamie, Kefla, Landon, MJ, Norm, Timmy, and Teck or Theo

Ladies: Elka, Gladys (would love to see her, but so doubtful), Jodi, Katie, Leah, Piggy (same as Gladys), Roni, Anne, Veronica, Ayanna, and Coral.

I'm surprised Mark Long isn't on the list of possibilities, since this is basically his baby. I'd have thought he'd want to do every season he can.

I guess many of these people if they have jobs and families will only want to do short seasons.  That might be appealing, because Yes won $500k for maybe half the regular Challenge season.

Most streaming shows are 10 episodes, not 20 or more.  I guess with the subscription, they don't need as much ad revenues as cable TV.  So if it continues to be 10 episodes for All-Stars and around 19 or 20 episodes for the regular Challenge, some of these competitors may try to get on All-Stars or both.

Of course this first season was all old vets, mainly people who haven't been on for a long time.  But it's "All-Stars" not "Seniors Tour" so there's nothing preventing Paramount and B-M from inserting popular players on both shows.  IF they did that, it would ruin the vibe of this first season All Stars because then some more cutthroat players may do All Stars.

Several of these All Stars were willing to go into elimination, maybe even not minding if they were sent home.  So that may be the attitude or the 40-somethings whereas someone like Cara Maria and Paulie would do everything they can to send everyone else to elimination.

I'd be curious about the demographics of Paramount + compared to MTV.  Probably skews older since it has a lot of CBS shows?  So that might be a reason All Stars remains only for older players.  Or Paramount and B-M might think they need to get on more young and pretty cast into All-Stars as well, regardless of whether the audience is older or not.

There’s also speculation about people who showed up to the finale party . . . including Sarah Greyson. Is it messed up that I’d worry about her all over again, even if the intensity of Gauntlet isn’t there?

I would love to see her again, because she’s the original elimination queen. Hopefully she wouldn’t get bullied again.

I want to see Timmy again!  Screw the rest, give me Timmy!

I'll be really disappointed if they ask Nia back. I think the term "cancelled" gets thrown around way too often when what it really means is "someone got very lucky to get an amazing opportunity most of us never get a chance at and blew it."  If she wanted to stay being cast on this show, she shouldn't have sexually assaulted a coworker.  That's not cancelled - that's consequences.

Given the sheer amount of names thrown around, I'm thinking the format will be Battle of the Seasons. It'll probably air in 2022 . . . ten years after the last time they did that, and twenty years after the first time.

From SBS: the cast has been determined (at least barring quarantine fuckups). I was probably wrong about the Seasons format. There are a few returns from the first season, some pleasant surprises, and my hope than Eric Fucking Nies outgrew jump ropes.

Heavy on Real World Cancun. And I don't care what anyone says, Fresh Meat does not an All Star make.

I'm pleasantly surprised that Katie's coming back. Good to see Teck again, too, and I hope he sticks around longer. I like that Eric's participating. I really enjoyed Real World Homecoming: New York and it was too bad that he had tested positive for Covid and couldn't be in the house, so I think it will be fun to see him in this setting; especially since he's a different man than he was back in the day.

I'm happy to see Eric too! You could tell just how much he wanted to be there with everyone during the Homecoming season, especially when he realized they were all in the original loft. I'm interested in seeing what he's like actually mixing back in with the RW/RR crew again.

This looks like a solid cast, even the repeats from the first All-Stars are people I generally liked. I'm excited to see Sophia and Steve after so long. It's nice that half the cast has only done 4 or less challenges, I like the vibe they bring more than a lot of the folks who do every single challenge.

I wonder if they'll use the same house as AS1? I really loved it with the old quotes, the helmets, etc!

I think the Camila talk is based off my original post, where I saw Nia on the “maybe” list.

Was Leah on the list before? Man, haven’t thought of her in forever. And the one season she did, it was a grind for her.

If Laterrian had decided to come back or would have been invited back, I like him but I'm conflicted because I don't really want people who play the game "admirably." I want the shit starters and the grimy people. I don't think we've been getting enough of that on the main Challenge. There was some decent drama but there wasn't much griminess last season and the most grimy thing to happen in the main Challenge over the last two season is Johnny asking Rogan for permission to throw in Dee.

I wonder what the views were like for the first season.  Or whether they have a way to track if the show got people to subscribe.

By Challenge standards, maybe the place they stayed in wasn't as swanky as in the regular Challenge?

They need a big enough place for the big cast and the crew, places where they can rig up lighting and security cams all over.

It will be interesting to see if they let the cast go out.  BD filmed in Croatia and BD Sailing Yacht had them stay on the boat for the parties but then eventually let them go out to restaurants and clubs.  BD Mediterranean, they are definitely going out to dine but then come back to have parties on the hot tub rather than go to a club.

That might be prudent, since night clubs are associated with super spreader events.

I'm really curious the format after some of these additions. Not enough Road Rulers to make it a true old-school RR/RW Challenge. There's a lot of seasons with 2-4 people from the season on, but not enough to convince me its a Battle of the Seasons format. So maybe people were just excited about reuniting with former castmates? I'll be curious to see if there's any more changes to the list and how teams/pairs might shake out!

Fresh Meat - Casey
Fresh Meat - Ryan
Fresh Meat 2 - Brandon
RR Campus Crawl - Darrell
RR Campus Crawl - Kendal
RR MVT - Laterrian
RR The Quest - Katie
RR The Quest - Sophia
RR The Quest - Steve
RR X-treme - Derrick
RR X-treme - Jodie

Rumors on instagram that while Mark Long wanted to be involved with casting season two, he was excluded from the process.  If true, that saddens me.  We wouldn't have All Stars where it not for him.

No Eric? Awesome! The mild surprise addition is Ayanna. I reckon she's a good person but her previous three stints didn't go well. Also, I know social media wasn't huge in 2004, but she probably got roasted enough times over "I SLEPT IN MY UNIFORM LAST NIGHT BECAUSE I WANTED TO WIN TODAY!" Shit, I took a parting shot as well.

Just to confirm: all five alternates from the first season are coming? I'm okay with that, even if that includes Casey's return.

Wasn’t Emilee an alternate last time? I dunno if BMP hates her for keeping her on the sidelines, or if they love her enough to fly her out and not put her through the Challenge soul grinder.

I could do without Jemmye. Put her on the regular Challenge show, because that's how she wants to play - stir the pot, and cause drama. The fun of Challenge All Stars is that it's lighter and nostalgic and more fun. I hope that spirit doesn't change.

The list continues to get mixed around

No Eric?

"I just needed 8 of y'all to have my back!" a classic moment.

Bummed if no Eric. I want more oldies!

Ayanna Mackins

Road Rules Campus Crawl | Challenge Seasons: 3 | Last Seen: Battle of the Sexes 2 (2004)

Ayanna was on Semester at Sea, not Campus Crawl...but regardless, it'd be fun to see her again. Moar true old-schoolers!

Vevmo has the final cast as well as who won.

Spoiler

Jonna (Cancun) and MJ (RW Philadelphia) are the winners.

Janelle (Key West) and Darrell (RR Campus Crawl) are the runner ups

Nehemiah and Melinda (Austin) 3rd

Ayanna (RR Semester at Sea) and Teck (RW Hawaii) made it to the finals but quit.

When did they finish filming?

Maybe they'll start streaming towards the end of the current Challenge season, so that it overlaps a bit like the last season of the Challenge overlapped with the All Stars season.

I'm so excited for Ayanna. I SLEPT IN MY UNIFORM LAST NIGHT BECAUSE I WANTED TO WIN is such a classic quote.

That is one of the all-time great quotes, but Ayanna always made me a little uncomfortable. Her emotions were so raw and on the surface and you could sense that she didn't really click with anyone, even the nice people who really tried to befriend everyone.

Not super excited about the list, there are definitely some true old-schoolers but not ones that I was dying to see again. Give me Emily Bailey,Veronica, Chadwick N' Holly, Belou, Antoine. A reunion of Emily and Veronica after all these years would make my heart happy. Maybe Emily, Veronica, AND Julie Stoffer sharing a room, lol.

Yeah she made me uncomfortable too, but I did some google searching on her to see what she has been up too and she has a son and is a special ed teacher of some sort so maybe she has chilled out a bit? I always felt bad for her because of her mom dying at a young age.

I would love Emily/Veronica/Julie sharing a room. There is a room that Julie was suppose to be on the first season but they can insure her which makes no sense due to the Veronica incident.

The person I’ll be fretting over is Sophia. Her parents came from Haiti, she might have family there, and that country has had a bad year. Earthquake, hurricane, and assassination of the president. I like her, and I don’t want to see her get broke in a different manner. Last time, it was emotional Elimination Hill speeches. I believe Arissa and Coral felt bad enough for her to make it a factor in voting out Tina.

Sophia is in the SF Pam category for me. Seems like a lovely person, probably great to know, but not scintillating TV. I'd rather see Ellen or Adam Larsen from her season (definitely NOT Jisela, she can go back into retirement any time) for pure entertainment purposes.

Also would like to see separate male/female prizewinners and better pacing on the eliminations.

Yes, I'd like to see some changes to the structure vs last season. Way too many people making it all the way to the end without seeing an elimination battle and the single, winner take all finish seemed a little anti-climactic given how close so many people got.

I liked certain elements, like when they'd introduce a new twist at the last minute so the usual clique-y, alliance-based process could occasionally be disrupted. And I'm always up for different types of challenges that don't automatically favor the strongest, most athletic. Mental challenges, puzzles, etc and less "run straight up this mountain for 5 hours" kind of thing.
