Trials and Tribulations of Juicy and Tre...

Probably the most profoundly moving moment came when Teresa quoted Sophia Loren, "You can't have beautiful eyes unless you cry a lot" or something.  Whut?

These two do not like each other. At all.

Not excusing Joe's actions, but Teresa never takes ownership for anything (negative) she does in her life. The queen of hypocrisy and deflection.

LOL Caroline.

Tre admits that she felt nothing when she visited Juicy in jail. That says more than her paying lip service to save Juicy from deportation.

She probably saw it on some insipid FB post on her timeline and thought "Wow, that applies to me!"

I do love Juicy Joe, but this is so true.  I feel like he was operating under the assumption that if he wasn't a US citizen he couldn't/wouldn't be prosecuted under US laws, or that he could just flee to Italy, but  then reality hit (in more ways than one).  My husband is a naturalized citizen and as such, we have close ties to his immigrant culture in our city.  There are many, many cases of individuals who's green cards have lapsed or have not been renewed for far less than what Juicy has under his belt.  These are people with American kids and wives too.  Its awful to see families torn apart but Joe had a long time to secure his  status and his family.

That sounds like total "Joe reasoning".

He figured he'd "outsmart" the system.  Aww.

Or, somewhere in that renewing-the-green-card timeline, he was already knee deep in criminal activity and worried there'd be some sort of assessment as to the his suitability for citizenship, knew he'd never pass that test and so avoided it completely.

Andy had to keep reminding Joe that he broke the law. The Joe would say, tv-contritely, "Yeah, I broke the law". And then the thought bubble over his head would say, "I didn't break no law".

And all these years of hearing about how very Italian he is, and he gets to Italy and discovers that nope (culturally) he's actually American. Irony.

They learned it by watching you!

This is what’s so maddening...the allegations are not false, you plead guilty because they had the goods on you.  Realistically, they could have gotten a worse deal.

I didn’t watch the show but read the reviews. So Joe was blaming Tree for not getting his passport renewed?  Say what?  How did that fit into this puzzle?  And Joe thinks he put Andy on the map?  Wow!  Just WOW!

Joe and Tre really hate each other now. I enjoyed how much Joe couldn't even look at the camera when talking because he was trying to keep it together.  The looooooong pause when Joe was asked if he was attracted to Tre when she did the body building was priceless.  That answer is a big no. Then again, Joe seems generally disgusted by Tre overall now.

Tre and Joe are blaming each other for their legal issues.  Tre is saying she knew nothing; it was all Joe.  Joe agrees with that then says it's because she wanted material things and to be on TV.  At the same time, he misses his lifestyle in the US.  I'm sure grandma's house in Salerno is smaller and much more modest.

I get Andy pointing out that Joe and Tre's issues aren't what made his entire career.  However, Tre did give them the table flip that became a sensation and really changed the focus and increased the audience of these shows.

I mentioned approaching Trump because Tre said she was going to do it in the past. Of course, she denies it now. As for voting, wouldn't the government purge her from the voter rolls once she was in jail?

Enywho, here's another take on last night's proceedings.

Andy's career has at least 3 phases. The first phase was as a solid behind the scenes television producer largely at CBS news. The second phase is as a network executive and executive producer who brought us Queer Eye, My Life on the D List, Top Chef, Project Runway, the Rachel Zoe Project, Flipping Out, Millionaire Matchmaker, and the Real Housewives. While the Real Housewives is most directly responsible for the third phase of his career, Andy was enormously successful during phase two. Even excluding the Housewives, we're talking about programs that massively influenced popular culture.

The third phase of his career is as a media personality.  That is an outgrowth of his Real Housewives reunion hosting, which lead to WWHL and then his other hosting jobs and his Sirius radio channel. And yeah, the table flip brought some attention to the Real Housewives franchises and subsequently to the reunions Andy hosted, but it's fundamentally untrue to credit these dopes with his success. Furthermore, the concept would have gone nowhere if they relied solely on New Jersey. RHoNJ gave us the table flip, but it quickly devolved into the family obsessed slog that it's been for years. Frankly the Housewives concept owes more of its continued longevity to Atlanta, New York, Beverly Hills bringing actual lifestyle porn, and the leveling up that Tamra and Gretchen brought to OC.

I think the marriage probably ended when Teresa's mother died while she was in prison. That was time with her mother Teresa could never get back.

Teresa’s mother died several months after she got out of prison she got out December 2015 and her mother died March 2017); but for sure Teresa is bitter about the time lost while she was in prison.

The first thing Teresa did when she saw Joe on Skype was to snark about what he’s wearing.  No wonder he’s checked out of the marriage.

Yes - and so is brother Joe. Brother Joe said as much last season.

And being a brother he is hurt by Teresa having to raise the girls alone. Poppa Gorga enjoyed Juicy, too .I get the feeling brother Joe never really cared for Juicy - just tolerated him.

Sorry - I've always been a little hard on recent generations dropping out of HS. It's really just to easy to go, and too many alternative educational paths (online, night school,  etc) now. I know there can be family support (emotional and/or financial) reasons, but it really is just best to finish - even it means the GPA is 2.0, rounded up from 1.995 - assuming one needs a 2.0 to graduate. I don't think you can even go into the army anymore without a HS diploma.

I think Andy has a pretty bright line between people who make him money, people he likes, and people he's friends with. Teresa and Joe make him money, but I don't think he cares at all for them. Teresa isn't included in his list of dream cast for a potential all star season. The cast is Bethenny, Nene, Shannon, Margaret, Leeanne, and Denise Richards. He talked about housewives he relates to in another interview; he said Nene, Bethenny, LVP, and Margaret. Two opportunities to mention Teresa and yet he didn't. Teresa is really fucking dim. She's so dumb that you find yourself yelling things to her very slowly in hopes she'll understand only to remember that she's not deaf so why are you yelling. It's the blinks. They are pretty good at conveying that. Teresa. Has. No. Idea. What. The. Words. Coming. Out. Of. Your. Mouth. Mean. Blink blink blink blink blink.

In one of his books, he mentioned that Teresa and Joe took the longest time to sign their contracts and had a ton of questions about law enforcement in relation to what was filmed and what Teresa and Joe told their producers. I think he correctly grokked that Teresa and Joe were dumb trouble and it was better to keep them at a distance. He seemed to have been closer to Vicki than he was to Teresa, but I think the stupidity from both of them motivated him to keep all of these women at arm's length. I think when Bravo was forced to run that disclaimer on Kill All Cancer that Andy realized he had no interest in letting most of these teratomas of silicone, hair, botox and hyaluronic acid fillers get close to him. And now he has the kid. I think the bright line became a fucking wall with gun turrets.

I agree with this assessment.

Years ago, I started watching the OC, NY, then BHills.  Loved them!  I had a good friend, originally from NJ, well educated and wealthy, and she told me that NY was a snooze...that the fireworks were on RHNJ!  She said NY was “boring” (her opinion, not mine) Knowing her, you would think she would prefer a more highbrow show, she’s a country club girl inside/out, but she loved the craziness of NJ.  I think it’s fair to say that NJ, the table flip and the clown show it was/is, maybe because of the familial ties, seemed to put the Real housewives franchises on the map.  I’m not saying that I understand that, as it was never my favorite, not even in my top 3, but it did put real housewives on the map IMO.

Now, fast forward to present day, I don’t believe it’s as popular now as it used to be, but NJ and Atlanta, with their zaniness and over the top emotions, are what most people think of when they hear the phrase, Bravo’s real housewives.  Not necessarily my cup of tea.  I do think Margaret added a whole new dimension and it’s much better with her than with the clink clink twins and the other one, Amber, with the douche husband.  Kathy’s husband Rich was gross too.

I only watched part of the interview, but it’s clear these two are done, and doing exactly what two equally guilty felons do when their crimes catch up with them...blame each other. While I don’t think Joe would have gone as far into the game as they did without Teresa’s nudging, I’m not sure what else he would be doing to earn money. There was no way some low wage off the books job was going to be enough for Teresa. They’ll be fine without each other. Teresa will ride this Bravo wave until the wheels come off because she’ll be able to continue to feed her narcissism and her wallet and she can keep her marble mausoleum. She’ll let them film her taking a shit as long as they write he a check for it. Joe will be fine in Italy and has it a hell of a lot better than most of the people stuck in ICE custody and/or are being deported. He has family there, speaks Italian, had a house and a comfortable set up for him upon arrival. His girls will visit him a few times a year, and if Tre is still rocking with Bravo he might get a little check from them if he lets them film it. The conclusion of their whole situation honestly infuriates me, but it’s not at all surprising.

And LOL at Tre blaming Caroline for their downfall. Like mentioned above, the Guidices are the only ones to blame for their downfall. There are lots of people here in NJ grifting and living like they did (I’ve seen it in action) but the ones I’ve seen are not public and not flaughting their crimes on a national platform, because they don’t want to get caught out there. The fact that they were so hesitant to sign their contracts (from Andy’s book) implies that they knew the risk of going public. Also, what Tre is too dim to understand is that her even blaming Caroline so publicly proves that they KNEW what they were doing was wrong, and that her whole plea defense of “I had no idea!” was and is bullshit. Caroline kind of responded from her Instagram, saying she tried to find the word “beautifulist” in the dictionary but didn’t have any luck 😂 I’m sure her Bravo funded response will be coming soon.

Celebrities, in my opinion, tend to grow a higher standard when they have children.  (I’m talking about the ones who seemed to never have any boundaries) You are right, you can see this happening with Cohen.  I remember snickering, I believe when Madonna said (scoffed) she didn’t let her children watch television and limited music.  They inflict their filth on the greater public, than bubble wrap and shelter their kids from the dirty, unwashed masses.  On the one hand, I give them credit for rising up to the job of being a good parent.  That’s better for our society.  On the other hand, at the same time, I side eye them for making coin off their X rated influence on everyone else’s kids out there.
My kids were pretty sheltered until college, (housewives and similar shows were only viewed when the kids were in bed) and I certainly don’t make a living off inflicting the public with filth on my end...I just feel their behavior is super hypocritical.  Sure, influence culture, push boundaries, but not when it comes to your children.

While Andy was very successful before, I agree, it’s the housewives viewers that were his original audience for WWHL and they made him a household name.

I found the whole interview to be unpleasant.  I got the feeling that Tre and Joe have already sorted this out and agreed to split.  I think the pretense of needing to wait and see what happens when they are together in Italy is just for the cameras and they are playing along because the family needs the Bravo checks.  I couldn't care less about them because they put themselves on this path, but I feel for their kids who will someday be looking back and viewing the show and media coverage through mature eyes.

Andy was doing what Andy does....

New Jersey used to be a ratings power house for quite awhile. However, the endless rancor between the cast had taken its toll. The ratings really started to slide in season 5. By season 6, the ratings started to freefall. The ratings were terrible in seasons 8 and 9 and considering Teresa's and Melissa's salaries were substantial, the show should have been on the chopping block. I suspect the show was just profitable enough to justify its continued existence and Bravo was waiting to film Juicy's deportation season. Whatever. Bravo has decided to double down on these trash people who want to boohoo about the blows they've been dealt. It's bullshit and they're awful. I've decided to avoid the show because I'm not a fan of Teresa.

I haven't watched this franchise (nor Atlanta) in years.  Too screechy.

Just watched the Joe and Tre WWHL show and I don't care about either of them.  Don't care about their kids either.  Sorry, I don't.  As adults they may come to realize their folks are terrible parents and they can make adjustments in their adult lives.

When Teresa was crying and saying, "I'm just happy he's free," Andy was being kind of a jerk saying, "Those don't seem like happy tears."

I thought it was pretty clear that no matter how Teresa feels about Joe or her marriage, she was happy he was out of a pretty terrible sounding ICE county jail environment. I don't think Teresa is mean-spirited or vengeful that she wanted to see Joe keep suffering. It's a pretty sad/bad situation (that they brought completely on themselves), but I don't think it's that out there that you could be angry, resentful, bitter toward your spouse - but still happy that he's out of those conditions. And that your kids can call him/face time, get access to their father back in some way, etc.

Andy just seemed like he wanted to provoke. But, then again, watching Teresa and her attitude and the whole thing, I can't blame Andy for thinking these two are ridiculous and not having much sympathy for them. I can't even imagine the headaches behind the scenes.

I think Teresa is over it. I think Joe wants her & his family back, but it too proud to really act like he cares, even though he clearly does, you can tell by what he says about wanting to move to another nearby country have them fly around “a few times a week” and make it work. Yeah, like it’s that easy, Joe! LOL.

I’m not surprised at all. Idk why, but I’m not. They were born in the early 70’s, 1972, according to wikipedia, which would mean they woulda been set to graduate in like, 1990, when the dropout rate was considerably higher than it is now. Things were a little different back then and dropping out, in that generation, wasn’t uncommon. So long as he had a side hustle or job working for his family, etc. dropping out wouldn’t have been that big of a deal back then.

Joe came here as an infant. So he picked up the language naturally, the way we all did if born here.

IDK, I personally feel bad for them. Yes, Joe committed a crime, but it wasn’t a violent crime. I think, if he were allowed to stay here on the condition that he start earning money legally and became a productive citizen, he’d do it without any problems.

As near as we can figure out, no one narc'd on Apollo. And certainly no one spilled about where he was hiding some of his property. The feds found it all the same. When asked by Cynthia and Peter how they knew where to look, the feds said "we saw that the items were in your house on the show." Nuff said. No matter how Teresa and Joe feel about Caroline, Jacqueline, Kathy and Rich, or whoever, in all likelihood Teresa and Joe got themselves into this mess and it was likely their own stupidity that got them caught. You did this to yourself you fucking morons and every time you try to shift the blame you make yourself less likeable.

Luckily for their girls, the 2 brain cells in Teresa's noggin and the 2 in Joe's that the girls inherited have decided to work collectively and maybe multiply like rabbits so none of the girls is as fucking stupid as their dumb fucking parents.

No, Apollo was definitely narc’d on. In September 2013, a girl he was doing his illegal white collar stuff with went into the back to cash a fraudulent check or open a fraudulent account or something of that nature. She was arrested and they asked her who she was working for, she gave them Apollo’s name and became an informant on him, so they started tracking him and his dealings and that’s how they figured it out.

No way. If he was fine with it, he wouldn’t have stayed in an ICE detention center for 7 months after serving his sentence if he was ok with it. No politics here, but we’ve all heard about the conditions in these ICE detention centers and they’re rough. Real rough, much worse than a minimum security federal prison. I think the conditions got to him and he couldn’t take it anymore, especially given that his family was encouraging him to go wait it out in Italy.

I should have been more clear. I meant no one from the show narc'd on Apollo.

I think, if he were allowed to stay here on the condition that he start earning money legally and became a productive citizen, he’d do it without any problems.

I can't see him doing that at all. In the sense that I can't see him getting a legal job (besides the reality TV paychecks) that would keep him and his family living at the level of lifestyle they are accustomed to.

If Teresa had any type of sense, she would know the clock is ticking on her reality show career and she should be saving and/or investing whatever she can now for the future.

Joe trying to say he & another another inmate  was trying to set  up some  kind of game betting  business  had me rolling- like aren't  you in federal prison  now, fool ?

Joe should check with his attorney regarding that business venture. I think there are laws that prohibit Joe from associating with other felons and ex felons for a certain amount of time after he is released.

Well exactly, reality TV (and the platform it provides) is his golden ticket.

I hope Teresa has saved and invested, too.

I didn't know there was a forum for discussing this, or I would have listened harder, but...wow.  These are people, made up of the same DNA as us?  I find that startling.  They don't even act like people.  They have nothing to say.

Andy was doing the most with the least.  Teresa's lawyer was on set, and Andy knows she's not afraid to get up and walk away from an interview, so he kind of treaded lightly, with some passive-aggression for good measure.

Just off the top of my head, Teresa said multiple times she hasn't seen Joe in four years...yet she alluded to prison visits.  My English-to-Teresa dictionary says Teresa hasn't seen Joe free in four years, but that's not the same thing.  You need to say that stuff.  That's how we communicate in English.

I love how Teresa fluffed off Audrianna's part in making the "family decision" for Joe to go to Italy by calling her "the baby."  Um, Teresa, you gave birth to Audrianna in season 2, which aired summer 2010, and there was cold weather in the footage, which makes her nine or 10.  The baby, right...

I have defended Teresa before--and who knows what this season will bring--I may do it again, if I sense someone is being even worse than Teresa, but I think this interview was a really bad look for all three of them.  I despise Andy Cohen.  He is so transparent.  "Teresa, are you going to visit Joe in Italy?"  Teresa:  "yes, in a few weeks, when there's a teacher's convention."  Andy:  "Aren't we bringing cameras along to film it?"  Like, oh my God, asshole, why don't you just say, "Teresa, we're bringing cameras to film you and the girls visiting Joe next month.  How do you feel about that?"  Why all the pomp and circumstance?

Joe is very hard to read.  I think he is trying very hard to come off nonchalant.  I'm not sure how much of it is bravado.

My question is, if Joe's "wife" (notice how he almost never said "Teresa") didn't do anything wrong, why didn't Joe just say he forged her signature?  And the part when Joe said there was a violation of the plea agreement when his "wife" was sentenced to do time, I said get the fuck out of here.  What happened was that the judge was not going to send Teresa to prison, and when Teresa submitted a final round of financial discloure documents, they were still so filled with omissions that the judge was quoted as saying she had to send Teresa to prison, because she had learned nothing.

This has been a sticking point for me from the beginning:  it really sticks in my craw that they're able to stay in that house, and I really want them to lose it.  Teresa and Joe made their money off of criminal activity, and they should have to live in a second-story walkup in Paterson.  Teresa even admitted that the maintenance is really expensive.  Instead of robbing Peter to pay Paul, just fucking downsize like all other Americans who fall on hard times.

I am ashamed that I know more about the order of the franchises more than Andy:  Atlanta also came before New Jersey.  I did think Joe had a point that he helped put them on the map.  There was even a mini-season devoted to Teresa checking in.  I really think Teresa, Joe and Andy are horrible people.

I don't have any faith this season will be good from the previews.  Which would mean, by some random stroke of insanity from the universe, OC is now my fave??? Call me unimpressed with RHNYC until they exterminate the vermon that is Bethenny.
