As Malcolm distances himself from Martin, Jessica does the opposite, diving head-first into the past for the sake of her tell-all book. Meanwhile, Martin is desperate to get in touch with his son ahead of his imminent plans, as Dr. Vivian Capshaw grows increasingly suspicious. Meanwhile, the NYPD investigates a crime of passion.

I know this might sound weird but I would have been really disappointed if Martin’s need to call Malcolm got him caught.

I really love that when told to find a weapon Jessica grabbed her heels and knew how to use them.

Say what you want about the Capshaw storyline but I liked a couple of the scenes including the one with her and  Friar Pete where she kicked the crap out of him and the scene where Jessica walked in on Capshaw and Martin flirting.  Talk about awkward.  But yeah Martin was never going to chose her over his family and freedom and she got a tough lesson in that.

I miss Ainsley.  I want to see her reaction to dad escaping considering she might be the only one who might not be too upset he is out.  She might have...questions now  that she has killed someone that only he can answer and having them talk without having use code words would be interesting.

That was great. I loved how happy Malcolm's cleanse made Jessica and Gil. It's interesting that it was presented as actually being a good thing for him. So much for that now. I also thought Malcolm and Dani's disagreement on agoraphobia was presented well. I liked that it wasn't used to dampen their romantic interest. It was just a disagreement in sympathies.

I was screaming when Capshaw followed Friar Pete. Why close the door?! I did like watching her kick his ass though. She should have called his bluff. Martin was right- no one would believe him. I felt bad for her when Martin left. I bought in too, but she was always just a means to an end. Even if she was more to him than that, he was never going to give up his chance to escape for her. Now she's screwed.

Given that he's escaping for family, it's interesting that Martin still called Jessica his wife. I doubt it ever occurred to him that she wouldn't make it out. I hope not anyway. I know the show is still pushing the Martin/Malcolm relationship but Martin is more entertaining with Jessica. Plus his we're the same stuff is bullshit- Ainsley is obviously his true mini-me. Funny how she wasn't even mentioned. I hope this storyline doesn't become all about Malcolm rather than the whole family.

I shared Jessica's cringes about the rats. Ewwww! That sequence was truly intense. I wasn't worried about Malcolm- he always does this- but I was really worried that man was going to hurt Jessica. I loved that she used her shoes as weapons though. She used them well! Plus she called Gil- obviously the only sane reaction. When his car ran over Felix, I was so disappointed until Dani got out. I thought for a minute he'd deserted Jessica and I was pissed.

So Martin says he's not a killer anymore. It's been how many eps since he tried to kill his roommate? Obviously this change is recent. Even if it was true- which I don't believe for a minute- there's no telling the mayhem his crazy cohorts will unleash.

Does she though, she had one more shoe and he had one more ear hole, unless Jessica was saving that other shoe for his friend Willie.

Yeah. I’m not sure why he’s so hung up on Malcolm when it’s clear that Ainsley who is an actual killer is the same as him. She shares the same ruthless streak. If anything Malcolm is Jessica’s kid, he’ll do what he has to but it wears on him and you can see it. I also hope they make the escape story a whole family thing. The Whitley family dynamics are the best part of the show (Gil/Jessica being second).

Loved Jessica defending herself, but I was so annoyed at the situation. There is zero chance that Jessica would've been wandering the halls by herself. Mr. David took Martin to the infirmary and someone else would've escorted Jessica out, particularly because there's an emergency. Have hated all the stuff with Dr. Capshaw, and she was dumb for following Christian Borle into that room with the rats--but good on her for her defense, too.

It was nice to see Malcolm proactively trying to distance himself from his father.

Capshaw is stupid backwards and forwards. I fast-forwarded through most of her scenes. If she was just here as a means for Martin to escape, I think the writers could've come up with something better.

Good for Jessica using her stilleto heels as a weapon.  I don't think I could ever keep my balance walking on heels that thin.

You have to love a show that actually has the murderer of the week be an actual evil twin. This show does always love its dysfunctional families with a big side of murder.

That was a really good one, a whole lot of tension and drama with that quirkiness that makes this show special. I love that Malcolm tried a serial killer cleanse and how much Gil and Jessica approved, it really did seem like it was good for him. I know that Martin is a big part of the show and it doesn't really work as well without Malcolm and the family dealing with Martin, but it really does seem like him cutting his dad off is the best thing for him. I also liked his connection to the agoraphobic chess player and his talk with Dani about it. Agoraphobia is a lot more complicated then just wanting to stay inside and creep on neighbors, it usually takes a lot of work to get past that kind of anxiety, especially when you don't have to choose between leaving the house and being murdered.

They are definitely going hard on the Dani/Malcolm ship now, I can get behind that. I think that this is a bad time for it, as Malcom is not only hiding his cover up with Ainsley and Jessica, but isn't in the best place mentally. Well, he was doing better but now Martin is on the loose, so that progress has been shattered.

I did feel a bit bad for Capshaw when she realized Martin was using her, although I do think that Martin did like her and appreciate her giving him a chance to practice medicine again. I was really worried for Jessica when she was wandering around during the breakout (although how did she not have an escort?) not because Martin would hurt he, he wants the whole family back together, but if one of the others men hurt her. Loved her taking the guy out with a shoe, she knows how to work a statement piece!

Sorry Gil, you and your landline are officially old.

Martin really needs to get that Malcolm isn't his real serial killer protégée, Ainsley is. Of course not even he knows how ruthless she is, like her "I didn't really kill a guy I just wanted to teach you a lesson funny right?" prank on Malcolm. Malcolm is a lot more like Jessica, snarky, a bit high strung, highly empathetic with strong desire to do good coupled with a ruthless streak when it comes to doing the right thing, while Ainsley is much like Martin. Also snarky, but in a much colder dethatched sort of way, manipulative, obsessed with "protecting" the family through any means necessary, plus, you know, the murdering. I can totally see Martin eventually changing gears and focusing on Ainsley if he sees more of her in his escape, and the two of them teaming up to kill anyone who could stand in the way of their happy family, maybe with Ainsley secretly working with him in secret because they decides that Malcom and Jessica just cant do "what needs to be done" to protect them all.

I do wonder where the show will go from here. Presumably Martin will wind up back in jail; him just calling Malcolm every week while he's on the run doesn't really work. But I can't imagine Martin in jail being allowed anywhere near the privileges he currently has. It seems early in the show's run to go this route.

The place Martin has been is a hospital for the criminally insane, right?  They sent him to prison for a while and he didn't like it.  They could put him in prison again and make him work his way back toward the privileges he had.

If we are being honest I don’t think this show has 12 seasons in it and it is bordering on a bubble show anyway.  If the showrunners are smart they are bargaining maybe four or five season which means the trajectory fits.   This is just me playing but I am guessing Ainsley was in on the escape and is giving Martin a place to hide.    He will definitely be out through the rest of this season and if I my way most of season three which will deal with Ainsley and her possibly being a killer.  Martin will get caught again and confess to a new string of murders but Malcolm will realize Ainsley did the killings.   Season 4 a loophole to the old murders might let Martin out but thank god the new murders keep him in..,,what is Malcolm to do?   Does he give dad a get out of jail free card or let his sister get away with murder?     That’s about as far as I got.
