When Sheldon refuses to ride in a car after getting into an accident with Meemaw, Missy uses their trauma to her advantage at school; Meemaw is forced to take the church shuttle while her car is in the shop.

Airdate: 8 April 2021

Please, no discussing spoilers from The Big Bang Theory that have not “happened” yet.

Wow, I always think Georgie looks young but that flashback! He was a baby and it was only a couple seasons ago!

"...they gave him special milk to put him to sleep."
"NO!"
"Aww."

Dr. Sturgis on the phone with Meemaw gave me the biggest laugh I've had in a while. "Bye!"

Sheldon doing zoom school before it was cool.

Marla Gibbs! Diane Ladd! And Dharma's dad!

Of course Sheldon came up with the concept of zoom school and grocery delivering. Should’ve known that the show wouldn’t be able to resist doing a pandemic in-joke.

Loved Connie cheering up the geezer bus!

I loved that Sheldon took a cue from Missy and used "storytelling" to get a remote lecture and grocery delivery. He almost never acknowledges her good ideas, so this was special.

It was funny that the seniors left the salon looking much more glamorous than before but Meemaw looked the way she always does because glamorous is her default state.

Geezer Bus - The Series ... Mee Maw and June become Geezer Bus activity directors and proceed to lead countless east Texas seniors astray. I'd watch. Better yet, be on the bus myself!

We know that Meemaw's activities include bowling, salsa dancing, water aerobics and karaoke with June. Let's just hope she doesn't lead any of those poor, unsuspecting seniors to the casino!! @MollyMelrose, save the seat next to you because I want to go, too!! 😉😎😂

My love for Annie Potts knows no bounds😂.

And while "geezer bus" was hysterical, my favorite scene (surprisingly) was her and Dale having coffee in the morning. I know, Dale is NOT a favorite around here, I not crazy about him either but the two of them chatting/sniping at each other was wonderful. Dale, "I like it when you're yelling and it's not at me", I think that was the best line of the night😂😂. And maybe a little insight into Dale😂😂😂😂

Emmy for sure.

As did my mom. That's the point of going weekly to get your hair done. I crunched the numbers, and my mom could've bought me a house with the $100K she spent at salons from her 30s to her 90s.
But Mom would never have ridden the "Geezer Bus."
I loved MeeMaw being so generous and friendly with the other seniors. And yes, please, dear writers, have MeeMaw take them to Karaoke. And I want to go too!

Young Sheldon is the only sitcom I watch. There is rarely a dull show because the writers are excellent and the cast is wonderful. This episode was so good, featuring MeeMaw and her bus mates, Marla Gibbs, Diane Ladd, and the guy form L.A. Law (I'm old too). This is just a delightful show.

THANK YOU! I knew I recognized him, but I couldn't place him. I would totally watch Geezer Bus-The Series. Mee Maw and June take the seniors on different trips, plus we sometimes see their home life before they get on the bus or what happens back at home when they get off the bus. You would need more than the three people we saw this episode, but it's a great start.

I think Young Sheldon may end in after season 7, but we continue to follow the adventures of Connie in the new series, Geezer Bus-The Series

I had to use IMDb. I knew Marla Gibbs. And I knew I recognized the guy. And Diane Ladd! She looks different with a blowout.

I refer to the guy as the guy from that Hart to Hart movie and Dharma’s dad.

Missy and Georgie could make occasional appearances, too - maybe getting in their community service hours. 🤣

Well that's one way to feel young - hang around people even older than you. I got Marla Gibbs right away but I could not get the others until I saw the credits.

I loved the phone call where Mary got to zing her mom for a change.

I thought I heard Sheldon's voice drop a couple of times.

Loved this episode! I didn't recognize Diane Ladd, but spotted 89yo Marla Gibbs and the very versatile Alan Rachins immediately...his character 'Larry Finklestien' opposite Mimi Kennedy's 'Abby O'Brien' (Dharma's parents) was priceless...and of course Sheldon came up with distance learning...grocery delivery, however has been around for the better part of two centuries, but count on Sheldon to make it work for him.

I missed that, but I did notice how they posed Missy seated and slouching; I wonder how tall she was when they filmed that episode and how much taller she was in the next one and how tall she was yesterday?
Combined with “Sheldon’s” voice changing, they’re going to need to do a 2+ year time jump to age 14 next season, because there’s no way those young actors are going to pass for 12.

i think this is the first time we've seen Missy in school.

I loved Sturgis giving Meemaw the rundown of what the end looked like.  they pull the plug.  And then you miraculously survive.  I don't know why we needed that extra step but it was hilarious.

I'm not sure if we've seen Missy standing this whole season😂. Girl must have hit a serious growth spurt.

What year is it in "young Sheldon world", 1993? You know, WNBA was founded in 1996, maybe a girl's basketball team could be started and everyone wants Missy because she's tall😂

The punchline to Sturgis' stream of end-of-life events was that after they pull the plug and you miraculously survive: You cannot afford to live because of the medical bills.

Wallace Shawn does a wonderful job as Sturgis, but I think the writers should have stuck to the comedy Rule of Three for that bit, because it did go on so long.
Is that what you were thinking too, @Katy M?

Actually since it's Sturgis and he's so upbeat, I think they should have ended it with miraculous recovery.  Because you just know he'd want a happy ending.

That was Diane Ladd?!?

Georgie never had an “awkward” stage!

There was not enough Georgie or Missy again.

It’s great that Mary thinks it’s important to be able to ride in a car. She should also consider the importance of raising a child who is not obnoxious.

I also want more Missy!!  There have been several comments about it appearing that Missy has had a growth spurt and seems quite a bit taller than Sheldon now.  But I would hope that they could give Missy some story lines that possibly do not involve Sheldon thereby avoiding the height comparison - if that is the problem.

I also feel that Sheldon had gotten very self centered and obnoxious in this episode.  He has no qualms ever about calling someone's superior to complain if he does not immediately get his way.  When his mother tried to talk some sense into him, he just seemed to be so self involved that he didn't even consider what she was trying to teach him.  It really is his way or the highway.  Some self confidence is a good thing, but his attitude and behavior are beyond what should be tolerated.

Mary talks about wanting Sheldon to be able to live in the world as an adult, but takes few steps to help him accomplish that. When George tries to help Sheldon fit into the world, Mary often takes a negative view of it and disparages Geroge's idea/course of action.

I totally agree!!! I think she contributes so much to each episode!! Even the briefest scenes. And I would not mind at all if she were towering over Sheldon. I am 1.5 years younger than my brother. I was 3 inches taller than he was until he was about 16 years old.

I agree 100% with your second paragraph, too!

Honestly! I don’t understand why Mary is still coddling Sheldon. And at this point, why must he still constantly remind everyone how intellectually superior he is?

Meemaw and her geezer squad clearly need a spin-off. We still need to hear them sing Blue Sued Shoes!

I love that George was pretty down for Missy's "lets drug Sheldon with milk to get him in the car" plan. Sheldon even listened to her plan about using his recent trauma to invent Zoom learning and having groceries delivered.

Dr. Sturgis was just so happy about growing older. Then they pull the plug!

they will only be 13 at the beginning of next season, so I don't know if 12 will be that great of a stretch of the imagination.

And in reality ,she's only about 6 months older than him, so if she's taller than him, she's taller than him. the only reason it's kind of weird is because Jim Parsons is tall.

I wonder how tall JP was at 12.... One of my college roommates is 6 feet tall, but she once said she wasn't significantly taller than her peers when she was younger, and started getting taller around middle school. And girls usually hit their growth spurt earlier (says the girl who was the shortest kid in her class for most of elementary school, and "shot up" a whole two inches between 12 and 16 to hit an adult height that can best be described as "decidedly average"). So Missy being taller than Sheldon at this point would not be unexpected.

This was one of my favorite episodes of the series. Loved the Geezer Bus with its celebrity riders. When you add in Ed Begley Jr., Craig T. Nelson and Wendie Malick, this was really a Who's Who of great tv actors and tv shows.

Sheldon using distance learning!

I laughed out loud several times. So pleased that Wallace Shawn continues to be a part of the show.

In this episode I don't recall George making any kind of suggestion other than agreeing with Missie about drugging Sheldon.  In the end it was Mary who got Sheldon back in a car.

Yes, they need to let Mary be sassy more often. Her exchange with Connie was one of the few times I've laughed at a scene she's in.

Why is it such a big deal if Missy is taller than Sheldon? They're not identical twins.

I'm surprised at how well Ed Begley Jr. is fitting in, especially since he was so obnoxious in other appearances.

Every time I see Wendie Malick with blonde hair, I keep thinking it's Christine Baranski. They should play sisters in something. I do wonder how realistic it is for a college in the early 1990s to have a female president.

Not by any means unheard of. I found this on Wikipedia. One of the names it cites is Diane Natalicio, who was President of the University of Texas at El Paso from 1988 to 2019.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_women_presidents_or_chancellors_of_co-ed_colleges_and_universities

But of course the list gets dramatically longer once you hit the 21st century.

On the other hand, I find it highly unlikely that a professor would have his arm twisted to deliver remote lectures by phone to a single student, no matter how "special."  Provide faxed or mailed notes and phone coaching, maybe. Call me naive.

I think this is a way of demonstrating just how brilliant Sheldon actually is.  They can't go too far with the "sciency" stuff on the show without it getting incredibly boring but I think it's safe to assume that Sheldon really does have the kind of brain that comes along very rarely and that a university would move heaven and earth to be sure they get to have his name connected with them.

I have twin siblings. A brother and a sister. When they lined the class up from tallest to shortest, my sister was the tallest and my brother was the shortest. Even in their 70s, she still gives him crap for being shorter.

For a brief shining moment in time I was actually the tallest in my family and I have the pictures to prove it!  Sadly it didn't last long before my sisters and brother caught up and surpassed me.  It's normal and if the show is waiting for Iain to catch up with Regan that's just silly!
