Tiffany Moon: The Sun Never Sets on this Tiger Mom

So, yeah, Sam Moon stores.  They are like Claire's I guess, but they are HUGE.  They also have luggage and weird stuff like that.

Also, was her mention of being a figure skater new info?  I don't remember that from before with her Doogie Howser resume rundown.

I do like that she calmly responds in arguments instead of just screaming her head off while making clipping motions with her hand (love you Dorinda!).

Her husbands family owns Sam Moon, maybe his brother? He is their General Counsel and VP.  They have stores all over Texas and also do wholesale business so I’m sure it’s quite lucrative.  I knew there had to be something more than her salary contributing to their lifestyle.

OMG, I had no idea!  Sam Moon is huge.  And he's not only Sam Moon family, he's an attorney.

Dr. Tiffany Moon is also an Associate Professor at Southwestern Medical School.

Wow, power couple indeed.

I don't know what to think about a person that can eat while standing over a cadaver.  It's something I can't quite comprehend..

I'm in dental, and dentists will tell you that once they got over the heebie-jeebies of the blood & guts, they'd bring their lunch in when they worked on cadavers.  At least those patients don't complain about hating the dentist.  😂

I was once doing a convention where the dentists were taking a class to work on cadaver heads.  Each dentist was to get 1/2 of one head, sliced vertically.  But the shipment of heads got lost in the building.  That was fun to try and locate.

Back on topic....I have more respect than ever for Dr. Tiffany Moon after seeing her on WWHL and hearing her vulnerability surrounding growing up with such a stern, strict, "Tiger Mom".  It may very well be that her mom loves her very much, but viewed playtime as a waste of time, hence her father keeping her up till 1:00 am re-doing her math homework.  She is now caught in this difficult place of feeling like she owes her parents, but feeling like she owes her children & husband even more, while also simply loving what she does for a living.  I loved seeing her open up like this.  She's a rock star, Valley Girl Vocal Fry & all.

I want to like her but I'm having a hard time getting past that Kardashian whine/growl voice 😞 She seems harmless so maybe I'll get used to it.   I went into a Sam Moon store up in Dallas when visiting my daughter.  Women were going crazy in there grabbing purses, wallets, luggage, etc! I felt like I was running with the pack trying to get something for me but then realized it was just a large sized Claire's for 20 Somethings. (my daughter had purses on each arm and a wallet😅 She was having a blast! That family must be making a killing.

I think it's really cool there's such a truly high achiever Real Housewife. I never had aspirations to be a doctor personally, and no shade to all the women who were born into or married money across the franchise. They all make for good TV, but I am just really impressed by Tiffany's achievements.

She also brings fabulous lifestyle porn. That closet is a girly girl's dream.

I really appreciated that exchange between Tiffany and her husband about her work-life balance. He was so understanding and helpful - and imo she truly struggles with both mom guilt and parent guilt.

Reminded me of a fascinating radio show I heard about straight-A, ultra high-achieving, female college students who couldn’t choose a major. They were experiencing depression and identity issues because, throughout their lives, they tried to please their parents and had done every class and activity as perfectly as possible. Now, in their second year of college, they had no idea what their true interests or gifts even were, and choosing a major had led to an emotional crisis.

Tiffany shows both gratitude and resentment toward her mom - imo she needs to do what feels right for herself and her family, and let go of the need for parental approval. In spite of her vocal fry, Tiffany has grown on me - I’m interested in seeing her work it all out.

From the article:

As Tiffany has mentioned before, due to her extremely busy schedule as an anesthesiologist, she’s not sure if she’ll return for another season. But it seems the way she’s been treated by some of her castmates is also factoring into her decision.

“I just feel like I tried and tried and tried with the women,” she declared. “The amount of negativity and just being picked on and, you know, one person can do this but then if I say it, it’s like, all claws out for Tiffany. And it just felt like, why would I find myself to participate in something that was so toxic to me?”

Can’t blame Tiffany if she decides this isn’t for her - all these shitshows are toxic.

Indeed!! I’d miss Tiffany and have *really* enjoyed her as a necessary addition to RHoD, but I can completely understand her ongoing frustration over having deal with such pointless bullshit. At some point most rational, educated folks would just be OVER IT a’la Tiffany, especially since she’s so heavily invested in her medical career/family and obviously doesn’t need the paycheck or residual fame otherwise. And she has a professional reputation to uphold too.

Before I became such an avid RH viewer, I used to wonder why more professional women didn’t appear on these shows. But after having finally seen a few more grounded/professional types appear on these shows over recent years, it quickly became apparent that these women just don’t have the time/energy/insanity to fight about the typical ‘she said/she said’ hersay and stupid antics that make up these usual RH storylines, unlike the usual bored and/or otherwise unemployed rich women employed on these shows.

These shows are honestly meant for failed and/or washed-up actors/models for good reason: “reality show” life is all just performative friendship and random bickering amongst paid costars at the end of the day.

Yep. I know Tiffany has a lot of stress and feels pressure, but she really does have one of the best lives of the housewives. A husband who respects her, those adorable girls, and an amazing career. She doesn't need this show.

I love Tiffany, but i understand why she wouldn't come back.  She needs to think of her professional reputation, and needs to get out before the others rub off on her and she starts to talk about butt lube etc.  Take you class and RUN Tiffany!

On wwhl last night Tiffany said she and her mom have started a new chapter in their relationship - yay! Also, her mom doesn’t watch rhod.

She said her husband is the best husband in the world and does what she asks re filming, but he is very shy and doesn’t like to be on camera. He really does a good job with it imo.

Her FIL and BIL are being sued as they are allegations of sexual harassment by them and also that one of their venues does nit hire black people. If you google, you can find the filings. Her husband isn’t being sued directly but he is alleged to have been present and he is also Counsel to the company which would mean he would or should have been aware of corporate policies.

Yikes! I wonder if Tiffany will address this.

I've read that there is a lot of racism towards black people throughout Asia.  Much worse than in the US in some places.

Google it and you'll find many stories. Here is just one.

I get a weird feeling from Tiffany.  Why in the world would someone like her want to be on the show unless she really desires a career in entertainment?  It would be a paycut and her family life would suffer.

Also, I feel she must have done something really offensive to the others for them to be so stand-offish - something more than what we've seen on tv. This group of women has its issues but the women seem to give newbies a chance.  They did with Kari. I think they gave Tiffany a chance and for some reason, it didn't work out - and in sort of a big way that we just haven't seen.

I think there are a few things brewing just below the surface with Tiffany we aren't privy to.

Folks,

Discussing racism is okay.  It is a hot topic issue that is allowed under the site's politics rule.  With that said, we do want to be careful to not make broad statements about any group. We are getting too far into people we know and their thoughts on different races that are too easy to extrapolate to entire groups.  Posts have been removed.

I think it might be that she's a little too much of a 'lady' for them - she grew up in a formal household, didn't have many girlfriends growing up, and she doesn't get drunk/bawdy/vulgar -which Kary is great at and the rest of them love!  Kam sort of had the same problem fitting in at first, but she gave better parties and from what they say being a "Wescott" is a bigger deal so I think she got some grace there too.

This is an excellent point. Tiffany did not grow up in a household where there was raunchy humor. I think this is part of why she and Brandi didn't click. Tiffany and Kam are the only two that behave in a more traditional ladylike manner. The rest love getting wasted, potty humor, chasing people with dildos, anal sex jokes, comparing crotches, etc. I'm amused by this bunch on TV, but I wouldn't fit in myself.
