I agree with another poster that Vegas was open for biz most likely.

I'm trying to remember last summer, but I think Vegas was only partially open. I don't think every casino was open on the strip and the ones that were open had limited capacity. It will be interesting to see what it looks like next week. They could have sent them to a resort in Mexico - I know people who have gone there during the pandemic. That would have not looked so cheap and would have had better scenery as well as providing an appropriate honeymoon destination.......

Virginia & Erik

I wonder if Virginia doesn't have some hidden deep sorrow of some sort. It seems people who are perpetually laughing (and drinking) have some deep pain. She may have concerns about her appearance she doesn't have the greatest skin but she does have a pretty face. Both are average in the looks dept. Not sure they have what it takes to stay married. For Virginia this seems more like a lark than a reality.

Paige & Chris

Paige is a very pretty woman...she is sexy to. The problem is Chris believes he's entitled to at least a 10. I know this word gets used to often...

nar·cis·sist

a person who has an excessive interest in or admiration of themselves"
"narcissists who think the world revolves around them"

From what I have observed he never considers others. He has no sympathy or empathy for anyone except for himself. I don't know how anyone can say I had sex with a person to see if it would create attraction. Notice it has nothing to do with her happiness or feelings.

Henry last season handled the not attracted problem about as best as he could. He never flat out said I don't find you attractive. He didn't have sex with her either. I'm sure he knew having sex would not make her more attractive.

He might have a point about not discussing the matter with his parents. That was probably ill-advised. She should have confronted him by herself. She also didn't have to give in either.

Clara & Ryan

They might be a good couple if they can keep the in-laws at bay.

Briana & Vincent

They really do seem so right for each other. I'm glad they didn't put her with Chris but if they had he wasn't getting any. Not with his attitude. That was wonderful to see her reach out to her husband and just silently support him.

Hailey & Jacob

Talk about a one note Johnny. Doesn't even remember he already shared his house with the in-laws. He must think its the accomplishment a of lifetime what he did. Hailey seems to be the kind of person who said I'm committed to letting someone else choose for me so I'm going to go through with it and make the most of 8 weeks and then decide. I would say she isn't very attracted to Jake but unlike some people she knows you tell someone that its devastating. I do believe in honesty; you don't have to reveal something you know will hurt someone.   Who knows maybe she can bring something out of Jake.

I’m wondering if Virginia is less of a party girl and more dependent on alcohol.

Oh, yes.  I worked with many, many, many alcoholics doing defense work in the criminal justice system for years (DUIs among other criminal behaviors, including domestic violence) and can say with some authority that every "alcoholic" red flag known in the literature and in real life went up the flagpole when watching Virginia's behavior toward and around alcohol.

When her mother-in-law broached the subject of "grandchildren" with her and she demurred, I breathed a sign of relief as the probability of someone with Virginia's level of alcohol dependence abstaining for 9 months (or, hopefully, more) during a pregnancy seems problematic.

Erik may think she's entertaining and "cute"; however, the thought of her constantly fighting the urge to drink alcohol would be a significant game-changer if I were him.  As is known:  "You can't fix what you don't acknowledge."  If Virginia doesn't admit that she has a drinking problem and seek out long-term effective treatment, I see little to no chance of their marriage succeeding.

Calling all Armchair Psychologists: I had a coworker who was going through a divorce, they had tried couples therapy but the therapist wouldn’t counsel them because she diagnosed her husband is a narcissist. The therapist didn’t treat narcissists because she thought them incurable and unwilling to change.  My co worker had been married five years and the husband “worked” from home, but come to find out he never really even had a real job! Just invested in MLM and lost money. He was always trying to start up businesses, because had to be the boss. Even when they built their house, he fired the contractor so we could be “head contractor”. Zero experience btw. The therapist said this was a hallmark of a narcissist.

In your guy’s opinion, do you think Chris is a narcissist? Because it seems like he hasn’t held a steady job as an employee, he just keeps opening and starting businesses trying to upstart his “empire”. I bet he will never hold a steady job in his life or accumulate any wealth. He just reminded me so much of my coworkers ex-husband! Always having to be the boss, never actually starting at the bottom and working his way up because it was beneath them.

And total cringe in that scene where he’s taking his shirt off, bragging about his big chest, I noticed he didn’t take his eyes off the mirror staring at himself, to even look at Paige. And the poor girl is just drooling all over him. I shudder to watch it. Narcissist?

He definitely has a degree in narcissism, not quite sure if he has obtained a black belt.

I'm cutting a little slack since its a holiday and honeymoon. She maybe drinking more than usual as a result. I haven't seen her act really drunk at any point. Even at 26 I didn't party and drink everyday. Weekends for sure.

She said that she will always have alcohol in her life and she hopes he can handle that, because she is not giving it up. She may be able to try to just enjoy her drinks when he is away 4 days a week, but I don't see her giving it up long enough to get or stay pregnant at this point.

Okay Chris & Paige (My Spin) what were the psychologist and Pastor Cal ( I hate calling him a Pastor) he truly needs a definition of Pastor and what that really means. When they match the two of these guys up together, I feel they threw numbers in a hat and said here we go.

Chris 🤔 my humble opinion of him may not matter,  I would define him as a whoremonger, self absorbed little man with huge parental and lust issues. He appears to be color struck and stuck on his former Finacee with no sense of self. "AlERT this man does not represent Black Men In America" though the Producers and Directors would have you believe he does. Please stop saying you are a God Fearing Man, don't insult the nature and character of God!

Paige, all the education, money, friends etc can't help with your poor self image you allowed the world to see, there were numerous reasons to PAUSE when it came to Chris the mention of his Finacee right after he married you Pause 1, Chris letting you know he is not in to you (I like pretty women and lighter) Pause 2, Disappearing for a large space of time after he had sex with you Big Pause 3, there will be more reasons to Pause but because of how you see yourself and devalue who you are, you will ignore those pauses also. Please Paige stop saying God is in this, your flesh and $$$$ are running this mess not God. Shamon the Producers and Directors

Clara & Ryan

They might be a good couple if they can keep the in-laws at bay.

I was kind of stunned when Clara said she was a "sleep talker and sleep walker" and kind of dismissed it as if it was some type of "detail" in their relationship.  I thought I detected a look of "attention" on Ryan's part.  What she's describing is not a JOKE or a detail.  It's involving one of the most essential parts of life:  SLEEPING!  Am I reading too much into this?  Was Clara merely "joshing" about a random occurrence or is this possibly a real deal breaker in their young marriage.

It's certainly true that after couples get older and circumstances occur that make sleeping in separate bedrooms necessary, after many years together it might be welcome; however, in the infancy of a marriage to have the overarching concern that his wife is constantly interrupting his sleep with a sleep disorder would be concerning to me if I were Ryan.

Also, Clara's "nervous" and continual "chatter" might be annoying to Ryan after a while.

I guess we'll see how that couple works out.

Briana and Vincent are a real palate cleanser. I don't see any big red flags for them yet. Vincent hasn't shown any evidence of anger issues, and Briana hasn't acted bossy. They both seem mature and able to deal with things in a calm manner. They are my favorite couple so far. They are so chill.

Jacob is sooo boring. He just kept droning on and on about his diet/his workout/his house/his yard. Ugh, dude, give it a rest. You could see everyone's eyes glazing over. That being said, I did see a few sparks of humor and personality start to appear. He and Haley don't have an easy rapport, and their conversation is stilted. I'm still waiting to find out what they have in common. At least they kissed a couple times this episode.

Clara and Ryan seem very comfortable with each other. The religion issue may be a problem; maybe not. I hope it isn't, otherwise the experts screwed up big time with them. I like them, they are my second favorite after Bri and Vince.

Erik and Virginia have a superficial attraction and lust going on right now. I don't know if the editing is playing up her drinking. If she is a big drinker, that could get old very quickly. It irritated me that Erik's mom was pushing for grandbabies right away. It's not her business, and she shouldn't be putting pressure on someone she just met. The honeymoon will be interesting. I like Erik more than I initially did, I might be developing a little crush. He seems fairly low-key and easygoing, but is Virginia going to be too much for him?

I just can't with Chris and Paige.

Do we have any couples name mashups yet?

Brincent? Viana?

Jaley? Hacob? Hayjay?

Clara and Ryan are hard...Clary? Ryra?

Erinia? Virik? (Gin Rickey? LOL)

Paige and Chris can just be Piss.

Am I the only one who thinks Las Vegas would be torture? I hate the heat, and I don't drink or gamble. Plus the dolphin shows...grrr.

Pro tip for military guy: The more cringing and pausing you do before announcing what you refer to as “serious” news, the worse it will sound, even if it isn’t.  You were just previously married, you don’t have a dead body in your basement.  We hope.

I thought he did a good job - left it alone on the wedding night but then told her the next day = good timing.  The cringing and pausing is what I have noticed everyone on this show is apparently forced to do whenever they say anything important - a big pause and "ummm" in case they want to take it to commercial on a cliffhanger!  Wait until decision day - they all do it.  It just seems awkward and annoying when they don't actually get taken to commercial.  Meanwhile he was allowed to say it straight out to the parents, because they knew they wanted to go into commercial with the look on her "scary" dad's face 😄

I found it weird that they arrived in Vegas and then all went straight to bed - I'm no Virginia but it's two hours earlier there and I'd want to go out a little bit and check things out.  Did production tell them they all had to go to their rooms for filming instead?  Weird.

Chris’ family and friends blow so much smoke up his butt that he believes he is wildly successful.

He has had hits, like getting investors to front money for his Subway and the crowd goes wild...but when his biz fails there are crickets, like that same Subway shop closing.

Of course, Chris will not open his books to Paige and let her see his wealth...”supposed wealth” which at this point looks like a closet of trendy suits, sparkly shoes and standing appointments at his barber shop and a house purchase pending....

I feel strange about the honeymoons being in Vegas. We have a mask mandate here, but it looks like it's being ignored. 😒 They'll never film a season here, so it's weird they're here. I also lived in Atlanta years ago. I'm weirded out. 😅 Kinda funny Virginia won't get to party in a party town. Maybe that's why they chose it. They won't get the "Vegas Experience." Bummer. Didn't look like honeymoon suites, no rose pedals or anything. How about that MAFS champagne? & Erik FINALLY tryna check Virginia's drinking as she tries to raid the minibar? 😅

Virginia always looks like she needs a shower.  The drinking is very concerning.  The first thing she does when she enters a room is look for the alcohol.  I wonder when we will get an interview with Erik saying he is worried about her drinking.  Also concerning is that she needs her alone time?  Why get married, then?  Glad to see he'll be gone for a few days and then they can spend time together.  Bad match.

I actually think there are a lot of things to do there besides drink and gamble (during non-Covid times that is). We have even taken our kids there. Lots of shows, events and experiences that were fun for the kids in addition to the close proximity of Hoover Dam, although it was awkward walking down the strip with my 9 yo looking at half naked show girls and those nudie flyers on the ground, to say nothing of the pervasive stench of pot from all the people wandering the strip smoking it. 😜

I think there were many places they could have taken the honeymooners that would be better than Vegas, but I am wondering if the crew balked at leaving the country due to the pandemic? Although if you're already in an airport and on a plane who cares where it's going? You're already at increased risk of contracting Covid. Better to go somewhere cool at that point I say!

Yep. He's also a misogynist. A lovely combination. I read someplace that Chris was recruited for the show (I am sure based on his resume and being a "successful" entrepreneur). If that is true, did he still have to go through panels and interviews or do they just pass "go" and go directly to the matching?

I actually found my mind wandering during the show to whether there might actually be some criminal statutes that could be used to hold the show accountable for offering Paige up to that useless piece of protoplasm to be sexually abused.  Probably not - and I'm sure the participants all signed away their rights to pursue civil damages - but really, what a POS!  If it turned out that he wasn't vetted, I wonder what that would do to any criminal or civil cases?

I'm not religious but isn't free will a basic tenet?   Run, Paige, run!!!

Why would Paige see a problem in talking to his parents about sex when her new father-in-law told her to give it up every day to her new husband at their wedding reception? He had no sense of shame “counseling” her like that in front of numerous other people, including the MAFS cameras. Chris and his father and friends all stood around and judged her body and laughed and hi-fived but now Chris is super private? Get the entire fuck out of here.

Yeah- exactly what I said!...

It's almost like no one clued Chris's family in on "Chicago culture."

On that note, according to Chris's version of "Chicago culture," "you don't disrespect your spouse." Like having sex with a spouse 2x then saying you don't find them attractive is respectful???

I find Chris not only unattractive & Paige to be the MORE attractive half of that couple- but he is dumb as hell. I mean really, he has to be the one behind serving the tuna with "not one scintilla of tuna fish" in those subway sandwiches. That said, I've always been a Blimpie's girl, myself.

I think a lot of countries have closed their borders to the US (and I think that’s more likely what the deal was when this was filmed - I’m not sure what the deal is right now, today, but I ain’t going nowhere so it doesn’t matter) due to our failure to contain the pandemic.

I have no beef with a domestic honeymoon, I just really hate the desert. If they’d said San Diego I’d have been excited.

I don't understand Erik's first 'marriage' - were they in love or did she just need a place to crash?  He said he didn't even wear a ring.

Paige would've been better off if Chris had never come back.

A lot of military servicemembers get married quickly while in the military because there are a lot of special privileges for married couples (financial, housing, ability to see each other). I think he was alluding to being able to have his girlfriend stay with him if they got married. My impression is that it’s someone he cared a lot about, probably thought he loved her, but that he got married way earlier than he would have otherwise and probably realized later on that it was a mistake.

On that note, according to Chris's version of "Chicago culture," "you don't disrespect your spouse." Like having sex with a spouse 2x then saying you don't find them attractive is respectful???

I'm pretty sure he meant you don't disrespect the spouse, parents or family of another.  Meaning she shouldn't be disrespectful to his parents.  He can treat her however he wants 🙄

You forgot that he is about a -100,000 in the intelligence department.

I don’t see what he sees in her either. The only thing is that Erik seems at least 10 years older than his real age. My uncle is 45 and look a lot younger than Erik...so maybe he sees her as a hot young thing compared to him?

Chris is an embarrassment.

Agree.  There are things to see.  The four times we went tho, it was about 104 degrees outside.  I had to stay in the pool.  I’ve never smelled pot tho .. maybe because it was years ago before it became legal?  Now that I’m thinking, even Cancun and Jamaica are out of the country and maybe not allowed. ☹️

And then the camera zooms in on his ringless ring finger. WTF?!! We haven't seen it since the wedding day, WHERE IS IT?? That's a message right there if he's doing it on purpose. 😅😂 She's not wearing hers either, nor the necklace he got her.

she had the necklace on.

Didn't look like honeymoon suites, no rose pedals or anything.

Their beds were all strewn with petals.  Oddly, some of the beds had sunflowers on them. I always think, "what a way to ruin the bedspread and carpet."

The bed flowers matched each bride's bouquets.

The sunflowers were in Virginia's bouquet and on the Lake bed.

The ATL flower game was strong, the vendor did a great job.

I find Chris not only unattractive & Paige to be the MORE attractive half of that couple- but he is dumb as hell.

No question.  Also, regarding your last point, I'm not well versed in "Chicago culture" (and really don't want to go there to try and interpret its different aspects); however, when he often uses words like "whatcha" and "didja" his pretentions of urbane sophistication, high class and business acumen quickly collapse.  😃

And I'll bet he was shaking in his boots when he heard about her job and home ownership - she beats him in those regards too!

ETA:  not boots - pretty bejeweled slippers 😄

I actually found my mind wandering during the show to whether there might actually be some criminal statutes that could be used to hold the show accountable for offering Paige up to that useless piece of protoplasm to be sexually abused.

What did he do that would constitute sexual abuse?

As if the show couldn't get any worse, on Unfiltered they bombed Paige with the scene of Chris & her friends  - she hadn't known the things Chris said - her friends did. not. tell. her.  She looked exhausted, miserable, & drained.

Wow! I was actually going to try to watch that tonight (since I usually pass on anything that has to do with Jamie O), but I thought it might be interesting to see how that payed out. Poor Paige.

Maybe, if she needed any more, maybe that was more than enough to prove that she didn't have to stay with him. He is disgusting.

I feel really bad for Paige, especially hearing Chris say he still isn't physically attracted to her despite them being intimate several times. Was he hoping sex would make him attracted to her? If he really feels like he's trying to give the marriage a chance, then why not also do things outside of the bedroom to get to know each other's personality? That's generally how people become attracted to someone who isn't their type initially.

At the same time, Paige knows what show she's on. The producers commonly match up people for drama, and the success stories are far outweighed by the sad, tragic tales of couples who never should have been matched.

Well, to be real, they just got married the day before and are being required to do the family thing and then leave for their honeymoon, so there really hasn't been much time yet. I think he is probably hoping the honeymoon will give them time for that (even though he has already made up his disgusting mind).

Chris was hedging his bets by declaring on camera he wasn't 100% attracted to Paige and shows what an off putting selfish, self centered, conceited, ego maniacal, arrogant ass scum looks like.

If Paige is out of her mind sexually freaky, all portals open, no desire unmet once Chris gets her bedded then her numbers may improve...

Her AZZ seems to have met his grotesque approval...

Her body and wedding dress checked out fine upon his superficial examination.

Why is he too cowardice to say he doesn't like her face?

He's danced around it by saying she doesn't look like a trophy wife, but is hesitant to explain himself further...

All his backhanded insulting needs pushed back because it is ruining the season....Chris is a pustule.

Yeah, no abuse there. The impression I got from both of them was that it was totally consensual. He's a selfish, cruel and manipulative tool but not an abuser.  He also doesn't know what the real meaning of "trophy wife" is.

The more I think about his manipulation the worse it gets.  His grilling her at the wedding "do you have a high sex drive? I haven't masturbated in 3 days.." - not to mention his Big Daddy telling Paige in not-so-subtle terms that it's her duty to satisfy him daily after his long work days- followed by the crocodile tears after disappearing (he apparently will be crying again as the season progresses), which suddenly turns into him villifying Paige for "discussing his personal life with his family"- disgusting.  Also what's with his extreme vocal fry? Paired with his limited eye contact and scowly face, he is an utter turnoff.  Paige's hopes are seriously coloring what is obvious here.  He is just not a  nice person.

On another note? Virginia?  Needs to stop with the uptalk?

Classic abuser behavior: Chris manipulatively turns the tables to make things Paige’s fault because she let others know about his horrible behavior. This also kills two birds with one stone by taking the first step in separating her from her support system by shaming her for discussing his horrible behavior to those that support her.

Definitely major red flags already.  the emotional abuse has already begun.  His body language when he was angry and going off about his Chicago ways certainly didn't give me hope that it won't turn physical too.

ETA: I wonder if Paige has had so many boyfriends partners that were with her just because she's very open and adventurous in bed, but weren't really there for a long-term type of relationship.  I've gotten that impression.  She may think that she can turn Chris with her horizontal party tricks.
