jewel21 January 23, 2021 Share January 23, 2021 A cop is murdered, and suspicion falls on someone who has been holding a grudge against the officer. Intelligence works hard to solve the case, but Deputy Superintendent Samantha Miller is hesitant to defend him until she knows the whole story. Airdate: 01/27/2021 Link to comment
Guildford January 28, 2021 Share January 28, 2021 (edited) Run Halstead....RUN....so day one of your relationship and Felony Barbie is already lying to you. It's becoming quite the habit for her. Those two together literally suck the oxygen out of every scene. There is not a skerrick of chemistry or personality between them. Halstead looks like he can't muster a fuck to give about anything. His lines are just a monotonous drone. And Felony Barbie has to make everything about her again and throw a tantrum in the hallway. Her constant need for attention and reassurance is really bloody old. I can't even remember what the case was about, but the ending did feel like it was their ham-fisted attempt to whitewash away the Atwater dirty cop fingerprint they left behind barely two weeks ago. Tied it all up in a nice little bow. And what happened to the two story mansion Upton was sharing with 'she who is is completely forgotten' - now she's in a one bedroom squat with the bathroom in the living room. Was she making the rookie pay all the rent? Wouldn't surprise me, she seems like the type that would slip out the back when it was time for the bar tab to be paid. Forgettable episode, total snore. Yes, to all of this. Took the words right out of my mouth. I can't stand that Hailey is already lying. Jay is a decent guy and deserves SO much better. He was only trying to help. Also! - I thought that her story about being abused was just an act to get a perp to talk. Now all of a sudden it's true? I guess I totally missed that somewhere. I remember the first day she walked in, she thanked Trudy for being the cop who helped when her family restaurant was robbed when she was a child, or something like that. Have they totally retconned her family history, or did I miss a lot? I could easily have missed a lot, since I don't really care about her character... I think her "new" apartment is the result of budget cuts, and a remodeled version of Erin's apartment. Sigh. Everything Hailey does/has/says is a remodeled (sometimes barely) version of something Erin did/had/said before. The previews for next week?? 🤢🤮 Why on earth would CPS place a traumatized little girl who watched her entire family be murdered with a cop!? "Here kid, I know you just saw everyone you love be shot to death, but we're going to place you with this lady, who gets shot at for a living on a daily basis. I see nothing that could go wrong here." 😖 3 Link to comment

Everything Hailey does/has/says is a remodeled (sometimes barely) version of something Erin did/had/said before. The apartment thing really bugged me. Hailey's house was shown in several episodes. The dumb thing is that the bedroom was the same as the bedroom that Hailey had when she slept with Adam. I feel like Hailey's reason for not wanting to see her dad was not entirely clear. I thought that the hallway scene after the interrogation hinted at worse abuse than she has let on. But, since it wasn't explicitly said, another interpretation was that she was just afraid of seeing her dad really sick. The scene of her at the hospital staring into the ICU did nothing to clarify the situation. I liked that Jay encouraged Hailey to see her father. I am not sure that I buy these two as a couple. They lack the fun quality he had with Erin. I thought Voight would figure out that Jay and Hailey were together after they stopped at the crime scene on the way to work. He busted Adam and Hailey's affair based on them being at a crime scene together early in the morning. I like the consistent writing with Voight with respect to his efforts to help the family of the deceased officer. He has done this in multiple episodes and it gives his character a sympathetic side. SuzieQ January 28, 2021 Share January 28, 2021 Hailey & Jay have as much chemistry as drying paint!! Why can't the writers see that? Didn't mean to insult paint! There was one episode where she opened up about Daddy was not all that great, had a drinking problem, slapped her mom around, etc., so that whole hospital thing has some basis, but honestly I just don't care about her and her daddy issues. 1 3 Link to comment
LittleIggy January 29, 2021 Share January 29, 2021 Question here: How is COVID being handled on ABC and CBS dramas? Except for the MIA “Evil,” the only network dramas I watch are the Chicago shows and New Amsterdam. The Chicago non-medical shows pay lip service to mask wearing but basically act as if COVID doesn’t exist. I know no actor wants to act with a mask on his/her face all the time (I hate teaching wearing a mask!) so I guess it’s that or have the shows in a non-pandemic alt-reality. 1 Link to comment
BigDfromLA January 29, 2021 Share January 29, 2021 What happened to Rojas? I liked her a lot, a heck of a lot more than Upton. She just disappeared off the face of the earth in this new season, without a mention. That really sucks. 3 Link to comment

(The actress said on IG that it wasn't her choice, they cut the character). Maybe the writers were scared they'd have to hook her up with Atwater and that would be bad for two reasons: A) it would give Atwater something other than his usual black v blue story or the go to undercover drug/gun guy OR B) it might actually be more popular than Felony Barbie & Blandstead. And we can't have anyone taking the attention away from Eid's obsession now can we🙄 1 2 Link to comment
Sake614 January 29, 2021 Share January 29, 2021 I’ve become so bored by all the One Chicago shows lately that I didn’t even make it through this episode. I hate Upton. The character has no redeeming value whatsoever. She came on the show as a Dudley Do Right and has morphed into a mini-Voight. Except even Voight doesn’t like her behavior. And yet the writers seem to love her. 5 Link to comment

I watch Grey's Anatomy and Station 19 on ABC, and they are engulfed in it. On Station 19, there was one scene where the characters rushed out of their car to help with an emergency, and one said "oh, I have extra masks in the trunk, I'll get them!" and they put on their masks. GA, obviously set in a hospital, has it as their only storyline. I don't want to give away spoilers in case anyone here is interested in that show too, but two main characters have COVID and the other doctors are shown trying to fight the COVID outbreak; one lost a family member to COVID as well. GA is a bit too real for my liking. I also watch Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist on NBC, and they are completely ignoring it - alternate reality where it doesn't exist. 2 Link to comment

From mid season four onwards Erin became the most depressing character ever and they wrote her and Jay down the toilet as they knew Bush was leaving - before this though they had a lot of fun moments which balanced out their more serious ones. The other two are just all angst, little else. 1 Link to comment

Shes Lindsay 2.0 but less likeable and less Attractive. She gets higher billing than Trudy and Kim who are better actresses and been there since the Beginning and like Gabby/April/Natalie from the other Shows gets away with bascially everything . At least Gabby is gone. 2 Link to comment
jabRI January 30, 2021 Share January 30, 2021 I was just going to say,, she's being written just like Gabbie. Self-righteous, implausible, perfect, stick in the mud. 1 Link to comment
jabRI January 30, 2021 Share January 30, 2021 If the writers would read these fan forums, they would know that the show should have 60% more Kim, Atwater and Trudy. The rest should be filler. It's really shameful how this has become the Halstead/Upton snooze fest. I actually feel bad for Halstead, I think he could do better with a better script. 1 Link to comment

And Atwater would have a romantic storyline. Halstead needs to find his balls & personality & interact with other people & he might just be likeable again. He's pretty feckless right now. Seriously I think they only read twitter where the rabid Upstead tweenagers hang out & are currently trying to explain why lying on day one of a relationship is a good thing & trying to convince people that Upstead carry all three shows on their backs. Perhaps Eid needs to log off twitter for a while. 1 Link to comment
BigDfromLA January 31, 2021 Share January 31, 2021 Send Upton to FBI permanantly and bring back Rojas. That would solve a lot. 1 1 Link to comment
jabRI January 31, 2021 Share January 31, 2021 I think if they would let Upton show some humanity and humility (like Kim, Atwater, Olinsky even Voight) not just this constant deadpan smirk it would go a long way to making her more approachable for viewers. 1 1 Link to comment

The NCIS franchise is like the Chicago franchise in that it only seems to exist on one show, New Orleans and Chicago Med. On ABC For Life just entered the pandemic and ran a prisoner release episode. The shows that I watch on FOX are medical and paramedic related sho they show it. 1 Link to comment
WinJet0819 February 3, 2021 Share February 3, 2021 This show is ugh. If I was LaRoyce Hawkins, I would seriously think about leaving the show. He is a prime example of a token black guy character. The only storylines they give him are racially motivated or dealing with police misconduct toward blacks. In every other episode, he is minimally used, and wasted. The show seems to only revolve around Hailey, Jay, Kim and Adam. Kevin hasn't gotten a serious relationship storyline, once. The only one he did have was with a woman he wound up having to put in jail. The Hailey-Jay stuff is already tiring. Hailey is being given the Gabby treatment, and Jay seems to have no balls anymore, much like Casey. 1 Link to comment
Avabelle February 3, 2021 Share February 3, 2021 Hayley is a total Gabby - as much as people complained about Erin when she was on the show I don’t feel she was ever as Gabby like as Hailey. Even her last season where she became the most depressing character ever we weren’t I never felt we were supposed to be siding with her or thinking she was awesome. As for any of the actors leaving the show - I’d be shocked. Crappy writing and character development aside this show is a total cash cow for those actors. I could see it going on for years to come. I could only see an actor wanting to leave if it was to do completely different projects and given most of them don’t seem to be taking many side jobs (pre covid) i think they all seem pretty happy. 1 Link to comment

I am assuming that the focus on the 'ships' is related to COVID and that they will likely be severely restricted to how much shooting they can do on location and the amount of 'extra's and guests' they can have on the set at any one time. I think we are in for a whole season of 'smaller' cases & more personal stories therefore Halstead is tethered to his master & resigned to following her around whitesplaining away her shitty remarks or propping her up when she feels the need to trot out another sob story. Ruzek & Burgess have paired up, and who would've thought even after last season they'd be the mature ones....and then there is Atwater just sititng out there like a shag on a rock again. I mean I am glad the toddler cop is gone because I think they tried to force that pairing & bailed out when they realised there was no chemistry between the two of them thankfully...but Atwater needs something...female, male, gender neutral, hell I'd even take a relationship with a blow up doll at this stage, but give the man something FFS. 1 Link to comment
