Isn't the custody 70/30 in favor of Kevin Federline?

That’s what was reported a couple of years ago but that was supposed to be new. She completely lost custody at her lowest point.

In other news, you probably won't recognise the name Zoe Roth, but you'll probably know her as Disaster Girl. Little kid smirking while a house burns down. She's 21 now, and has sold the image as an NFT for half a million American. Full story.

My thoughts on NFTs and cryptocurrencies aside, good on her for taking control of her own image.

The house in the picture was a controlled fire by the FD, so she wasn't celebrating someone's tragedy.    The tragedy is one of the first things she is doing with the money is  .... paying off her student loans.

As for both Smuggar and Lady Ga-Gas dogs, investigations take time.   For Smuggar, the Feds REALLY take their time so they have rock solid proof before they come down like a ton of bricks.   In the dog case, yeah we all KNEW the "finder" of the dogs was probably involved but you can't arrest someone on what everyone else knows.   They had to take the time to find the proof.   They were probably tracking her and tracing her life to find the guys who did the shooting.   Which is who really needed to be caught.   Sadly its not like on tv, where the CSI guys come into work and by the end of the next day the case is all sewn up and the bad guys are in custody.    Also the detectives are working more than one case, also unlike on tv where they spend all their time dealing with the Case of the Week.

Saves Gaga a cool 500K (which I'd give to the dog walker if I were her.)

I suspect the whole thing was a deliberate sting.  The optics of Gaga offering the reward were always so bizarre, potentially disastrous for her image if people had come down harder on her, that I always suspected she was told to do this by the authorities. It did work, apparently.

I thought the same thing. Particularly when it was announced the woman who returned the dogs had to go to the police department to meet Gaga’s representatives. Nothing says “no questions asked” like a police station.

Josh Duggar Charged with Receiving and Possessing Child Pornography, Pleads Not Guilty

Quote

Josh allegedly used the internet to download material of child sexual abuse, "some of which depicts the sexual abuse of children under the age of 12, in May 2019," according to a press release.

If he is convicted, Josh faces up to 20 years of imprisonment and fines up to $250,000 on each count.

Is TLC going to keep showing this family with their 4,000 kids on TV?

I really, really hope not. The Duggar sibs have all started to disable comments on their IGs. Jinger/Jeremy released a statement, as did Jill/Derek. (Those are the two siblings that are farthest removed from the family; Jinger lives in LA and Jill/Derek are estranged from the fam. for reasons). Jim-Bob/Michelle released a statement as well.

They already don't show Josh, but that was the compromise to keep the show going under it's current name.     They never kill a show off that they can make money from.

I don’t see how they can keep the show going. A TV show built around a wholesome, Christian extended family known for having lots of kids, and a member of the immediate family (whose wife and kids do appear on the show) gets indicted on child porn charges? There is no way for TLC to get enough distance from that.

"TLC is saddened to learn about the continued troubles involving Josh Duggar," the network said in a statement to PEOPLE on Friday. "19 Kids and Counting has not aired since 2015. TLC cancelled the show on the heels of prior allegations against Josh Duggar and he has not appeared on-air since then."

But Anna and the M's have, and Jim-Bob and Michelle.

You'd think that even the fact that their statement had to say "continued troubles [involving Josh Duggar'] would make TLC do a little pause and reflection, but apparently not.

I suspect as others have said that the almighty dollar is going to be what decides things for TLC but perhaps not.  In fairness to them I can see where they might want to tread carefully and not rush to cancel the show based only on accusations.  Although these accusations aren't exactly the kind of thing you can handwave away.  Also  based on a quick look at their website it looks like a lot of their shows appeal to the kind of audience who would scream "cancel culture" at them.

Josh Duggar was indicted by a Grand Jury. He's going to have a very uphill climb to beat the charges against him. His parents, the infamous Jim Boob and Mechelle, should be banned from the show (again) for supporting him in their statement earlier today. I'm still incensed that those two cretins weaseled their way back in front of the cameras over the course of the past six years since the original Joshgate scandals broke.

If they engaged in such analysis, they would never have given this family a show in the first place, let alone one that completely ignored the hideous tenets of their particular strain of Christianity, instead presenting them as just this oversized quirky family who really likes their bible.

Well, by the fact that TLC  either , at best, failed to uncover the younger Mr. Duggar's serious crimes or, at worst, DID uncover them but opted to ignore them when greenlighting the series when employers are SUPPOSED to vet employees' criminal records before hiring them, that shows me how much they prioritized wanting to maximize their bottom line instead of  protecting victims and/or keeping criminals from potentially profiting.  Truly, unless somehow the parent company gets bought out by those who DO care re what should be cared about  and fires those who've had the priority of greenlighting shows that contribute to abusers and abuse-enablers' bottom lines, I seriously doubt even this horrific charge will have any longterm change re their policies!

P.S. I hope the authorities are diligently looking into finding the nearest relative and/or adult  family friend who will do all they can to protect the sicko's offspring from him and his enablers the rest of their childhood- and give them custody.

Didn't the youngest Roloff kid come out and say he was molested by a TLC producer?     I mean that's pretty serious.  TLC has had negative press in then past. Let's not forget the Gossling's.  Kate was a nut job.

Not to let TLC off the hook but the producer actually worked for Gay Rosenthal Production. TLC generally tries to shunt the blame off on the production companies and act as though they are completely hands off. TLC deserves the negative press but the people who develop, produce and sell these realty shows to networks like TLC should face more backlash than they do.

The entirety of the TLC channel lineup reads like a how-to manual on exploitative programming.  The other common denominator is viewership appetite; apparently the public can't get enough of this trash television.

Eliminate the latter, and the former won't stand a chance.

It's strange because when he's actually excited about something he can look energetic. Like I'm this clip from a zoom conversation with his GONE GIRL director David Fincher last month, he looks younger than he has for a while.

It's a sad reflection of just how shitty things have been the last year+ that waking up to the news that Bennifer 2021 might be a thing has made me feel really happy this morning.  And I am not even ashamed to say it.  This is exactly the type of headline my battered soul needed.  I look forward to every single paid for pap stroll; including the much anticipated coffee runs.  Bring it!

TLC is a dumpster fire, and with apologies to the people who DO watch it, I can't understand why you do, or how you avoid the moral wrangling I'd expect to accompany that.  I'm sure I've seen most TLC shows once. Probably exactly once.

The shows I used to watch on TLC years ago and in the past few years during their brief revivals were Trading Spaces along with While You Were Out. I remember trying to watch Jon & Kate Plus 8 for awhile too but Kate's behavior towards everyone made sure that didn't last long.

I remember when TLC first started and they had documentaries about surgeries. My Mom and I tried to watch one about breast reductions since she had one done in the 70's but it was a bit too much for both of us at the time. That was when they showed stuff people could learn things from hence the original not shortened channel name.

My wife watches a lot of TLC shows and I don't get it. It seems like a modern version of the old time circus sideshow. They have little people, giant fat people and families with a crap load of kids including families with multiple-birth kids. All they need is a show about a bearded lady or one about a fish man with webbed fingers and toes or something.

Yeah, Bennifer is exactly what my social media timeline needed. I'm looking forward to the coy non-denials by both parties too. Should be fun.

Did the "L" in TLC actually ever mean "learning"? I mean, I know factually it did, I'm saying did the programming ever actually reflect that?

I guess it HAD to in the infancy of the channel. Now it's just letters.

Does anyone have actual memories of educational programming on it?

Trauma: Life in the ER - actually nominated for Emmys and while not a show I watched, it was definitely watched by some of my family and they thought it was good.  I also recall they had some pretty decent kids programming back in the before times - by before I mean before the reality TV craze took over and crossed over into what it has become now.

Great Books is the only series I can recall by name, but, yes, I remember coming across interesting documentary programming, especially about science and medicine, on TLC way back when.

The second Connections series was on TLC in the mid-90's. It was really well done. I rewatched some of it a few years ago and it still holds up as really good.

The one I always feel fell furthest (only because I watched it back in the day) is A&E.  All that seems to be on it now are marathons of shows like Storage Wars and Intervention.

Those founders take this from a mere ironic fall to an epic tragedy. From NASA to shows about exploiting Toddlers. From DoH to shows exploiting little people.  From DoE to shows exploiting massively, morbidly obese people.

I think it's been literal decades since that was a channel that I had and watched; but yes, they had informative, non-fiction, documentary programming. Not sure if most of it could be classified as 'educational', though.

It did in the beginning.  It changed radically in the late 90s.  Here's an article about it.  It goes into detail about the whys and when of the change from The Learning Channel to TLC.

(I hope this is allowed as a way of tying things back to celebrities.)

I used to watch Say Yes to the Dress in the very early seasons and also Extreme Couponing. It's weird that spending thousands of dollars on a sheer corseted ballgown and organized hoarding are two of the more wholesome programs. I don't know their entire lineup but it really has become something of a freak show and I'm not sure the vast majority of these people should be famous. Whenever the stories pop into the rest of the celeb news feed, it just feels... dark. However, I don't really pay attention to their programming anymore so maybe stuff like "I Am Jazz" or even the numerous shows exploiting fat people are fine. Aside from baby news (which I don't care about) the stories that reach mainstream celeb gossip sites never seem to be about success and happiness.

I'm surprised by this but have no idea why.  Other than reasons in the late 80's/90's, Bill Gates never really stayed on my radar nor did his wife.  Now that ugly house they once built and might even still live in?  That I remember.
