While Elizabeth struggles to keep her budding relationship under wraps, James finds himself at the center of the rumor mill. As the crew welcomes a group of experienced boat people, Izzy starts to feel under the weather. Ultimately, when a drunk charter guest crosses the line and defies Captain Lee, he is forced to lay down the law.

Elizabeth really is incompetent.  And yet somehow I can't feel sorry for Francesca.  It's a Gordian knot of mystery.

I LOVED how Captain Lee just totally lost his shit on that lady!  Can't wait to see how fast they pull up the anchor and get the hell back to the dock!

Oh wait.... Lady has to get back on the boat first! Hmmmm......

He should just leave her.  Captain Sandy would probably complain that the the slide and other toys weren't out for the lady to play with.

Sandy would have blamed the crew for 'allowing' her to jump in.  There is no rhyme or reason to Sandy's decisions.

So does Izzy have covid?  Or she's just regular sick?  Could she even be tested for covid back then?

Is the charter over for just the woman or ALL of the guests?  I actually gasped when she jumped in.  She's shark bait in her white dress!  I'm only half kidding.  Something I don't understand is drinking so much when you know you're going to be on TV.  Dumbass.

Sandy would have blamed Hannah even if Hannah were asleep or in the galley, while praising Malia for jumping in to make herself a further nuisance and spouting "maritime law."  Regarding the charter, Lee seemed pretty resolute about telling the guests in general that their charter was over, and directing Eddie that they were going back to the dock.  Whether that means he is going to actually kick them off the boat before their time is up, I don't know, but it does look like they don't have any water toys or beach picnics in their future.  Hopefully they will blame Drunk Diving Delores and not the crew.

Why are all the crew so bothered that Elizabeth and James may have hooked up?  Bravo encourages this kind of thing.

Izzy referenced James' j--- in the hot tub and didn't want to have them hookup in the bunk below hers.

Ashling and Rachel were both disapproving, but why?

James was flirting with everyone so maybe they liked the attention.

When the guests were asking for several different things, it seemed like they might not go with whatever was scheduled, like riding horses on the beach or whatever.  Shopping would not make for good TV and they probably wouldn't be able to take camera crew into the shops.

That's why the charter agendas is probably controlled by production, so that they could film what they want, not leave it to the guests, in case the guests go where cameras can't go or they want to just relax on deck, not do anything but drink and eat.

They can't have a normal dinner, it always has to be theme dinners or else it might get boring to show them dining and going "Ummm, so good" repeatedly.  They also have to do food porn because standard food, without much presentation, wouldn't go over well on TV.

These guests like the theatrics though, getting excited every time a champagne bottle was uncorked.  They even requested to have them opened in their presence so they could see.  There was these guests who kept sabering champagne bottles on another season of one of these BD shows.  They were horrible guests too, but they must have loved them slicing the bottles off the champagnes with a big knife.

I often wondered in the past when guests are so inebriated if the crew and producers worry that one of these guests in a drunk stupor will go up on the deck and fall over after everyone has gone to sleep. Seems the goal of some of these guests is to get as drunk as they can on this expensive vacation and just pass out. Doesn't sound like a great vacation to me. But hey to each his own

My guess is Capt Lee will fume and rant and rave, then have a sit down with everyone of the guests.  He will give them some rules and the charter will continue.  I would prefer the whole lot of them get their collective asses left on the dock, but that doesn’t make good tv.

Rachel is a good chef, but her personality is annoying.  Izzy complains too much, aside from being sick. Elizabeth is useless.  She still hasn’t figured out her job after being told time and time again....keep the drinks flowing without having to ask the guests if they want anything.

My sister and her ex were boat people.  I stayed with them for a weekend on the boat.  I have to say boat people are the heaviest drinking group I have ever been around.  They drank 24/7 while on their boat.  After a full day of drinking they would do a midnight cruise drunk on their asses.  In the morning they would get up and have Bloody Marys and start all over again.  I tapped out half way through the first day.  Crazy bunch of people.  And this group didn't disappoint.

As far as stopping her, there was no way to do that unless that person wanted to get wet.  She would have taken them in with her.  And all of the crew knew not to go against an angry captain Lee and assumed she did too.  There was no warning when she decided to jump.  And the lack of concern from the other boat people, especially the ones still at the dinner table,  you could tell she does this A LOT.  None of them were concerned even when they heard her hit the water.

It will be interesting to see if cooler heads prevail in the morning and Lee lets them stay but maybe not leave port.

Hey Rachel, hold Delores’ lemoncello/wine/champagne/shot/Jim Beam drink....she’s going to outdo your drunken ass act....

Delores belching at dinner was a gross prelude to her possibly vomiting.

Her lower esophageal sphincter was overly relaxed from being bathed in booze the past 10 hours...stand back Captain Lee...she’s gonna spew....

As Delores’ drunkenness escalated, someone used the term “your friend”.  So I don’t think she’s friends with most. The lady who witnessed Lee’s rage seemed positively gleeful that Delores was catching hell.

Yeah, I really don't think it's the crew's job to endanger themselves to stop the guests from doing intensely stupid and reckless things.  I mean, multiple people told her "don't go into the water" and "it's not safe."  If she jumped in, that's on her.

I can see the night thing and the drunk thing without any issue, but the shark warning did seem a little weird.  Aren't they generally allowed to swim there anyhow?

Weren't two (non-drunk and closer to shore, granted) stews in the water at night just the last charter?

You could tell the drunk woman was an add-on and not a close friend by how much the other guests didn't give a single f--- about her. I will give her one thing - she was pretty skilled with the jetski! But back to the sloppy drunkenness - I am a strong swimmer and the last thing I would do if drunk is go swimming - especially in a dark ocean at night!!! Her crazy questions which her "friends" barely discouraged and everything - no one cared enough to help her. Just a random side comment to drink water and then a whole bunch of not my problem. I'm also surprised that they don't put a chain up or gate or something to block off the stairs to the stern platform at night.

Re James not diving in and in no rush - he needed permission from the Capt to go in it seemed. I'm guessing there is a rule that states no swimming after dark that even the staff has to abide by. Francesca did try to stop her but wasn't able to quite reach her quick enough before she would have been pulled in too. What a mess.

There does seem to be a lot of shade being thrown around about the hookup which is a bit obnoxious but you know is mostly producer driven with specific prompts. One of the crew summed it up well - was it Ashlynn? that Elizabeth is fully falling for him while James just had a little fun. This is not going to end well.

Regarding Elizabeth and Francesca - While I think Francesca is a decent chief stew and totally back her on her frustrations. She doesn't seem to give specific criticism. Unless that is being edited out. Give her a list. Give her a time limit for a task. Give her some specific goals instead of just be better type stuff. I have yet to hear Francesca say to Elizabeth that you don't fully listen, I tell you X, and you take forever and miss stuff. On the galley talk ep Kate mentioned that she wouldn't have demoted Elizabeth but would have promoted Ashlynn - giving them both equal rank. so same results without the negativity of a demotion - which I completely agree with. I do think Elizabeth has ADD/ADHD which adds to the challenge so I would think she would do much better with lists and deadlines that will help focus her.

Ashling and Eddie were on WWHL.

Ashling said Elizabeth just wasn't getting the job done.  Because of miscommunication from Elizabeth, Ashling changed 6 or 7 bedsheets when she only needed to do one.

She also said Francesca told Elizabeth to write things down on a note pad but she didn't comply.

Says Elizabeth is 30 and she is almost 26.

Andy referred to Izzy recently coming out as lesbian on social media.  Eddie said she is brave.

I do not disagree that Elizabeth was an incompetent employee who wasn't getting the job done and was incapable of following directions.

I would disagree that a good manager would tell someone that they already knew was incompetent to relay their directions to their only other staff member, and THEN not check on them at any point following.

But she didn’t say to have Ashling do it, she told Elizabeth to do it and Elizabeth at least did some of it because she walks into the laundry room with her hands full of sheets and says she is sorry it’s a lot of laundry. Ashling’s job then was to make the stripped beds with clean sheets but it wasn’t a game of telephone, Elizabeth was told to pull the sheets from the master and she did it for all of them creating the extra work for Ashling.

Fair.  I didn't remember that bit.  I feel like I had remembered in Ashling's re-telling to Francesca that the delegation wasn't the problem (indicating to me that the delegation was expected), but simply that Elizabeth couldn't bother telling Ashling the right thing.

I guess ultimately my whole issue with this thing (and I obviously have SOME issue with it - why yes, I'm bored out of my mind, why do you ask?) is that (EDITING FOR MY ERROR): laundering 6 or 7 sheet sets takes a lot of time.  At some point in what I imagine was at least an hour if not two of work Francesca would have happened upon Ashling - or made it her business to happen upon her - and asked her WTF she was doing.  Or maybe asked Elizabeth if she had done was was asked of her and had Elizabeth tell her what she told Ashling to do.

Again - I grant that Elizabeth was a crap employee.  It's just difficult for me to have a ton of sympathy for Francesca because I just don't think she's handling it that well.

Exactly,

Francesca told Elizabeth that the primary had requested that the master bedroom sheets be changed.  We then saw Elizabeth change all the guest room sheets, Ashling was only involved because Elizabeth brought the sheets to her in laundry to wash.

Elizabeth doesn't listen or has some issue that affects her comprehension.  That's not on Francesca.  In addition, her lackadaisical attitude directly impacts the guest experience. She lacks the necessary sense of urgency required in customer facing roles. That's likely why she's bounced around freelancing in yachting for almost five years and still has only one stripe.

What I don't understand is why are the crew allowed to keep serving obviously drunk guests alcohol ? In most bars, the severs have to refuse guests if they get too drunk because they are legally responsible for those guests. I would have thought, that considering you can't take drugs on a boat, and with all the safety rules, that similar restrictions would apply !

Even then it is just common sense to cut guests off when they have had too much - just from a health and safety point of view !

We see it time and time again on Below Deck !

I agree that Francesca, at least in what is being shown, isn't giving a lot of specific feedback now, but even when she did in earlier episodes Elizabeth didn't seem to pay much attention ("check on the guests if they need drinks", "bleach the clothes outside").  I think the bottom line is Elizabeth is not a good fit for the job - at one point she even said she is a bit messy and disorganized.  I can sympathize, I am too!  But, I would be shitty at this type of job and so is she, it really needs someone organized and officious, and also who doesn't require constant oversight and direction given the fluid nature of what goes on on these charters.

That charter guest was disgusting; I can't imagine wanting to embarrass oneself on TV like that.  I hope the Captain follows up on his bluster and kicks these people off the boat, but I kind of doubt it.

The dates at the beginning of the episodes this season really do take me out of the moment, all I can think is "t minus XXX until the world goes totally to hell".

It shouldn’t take nearly that long* unless you’re Elizabeth, making a bed like a toddler, wildly waving the sheets and then giggling when they settle over her head. How long did it take her to find her way out from under that sheet, I wonder.

I think it's different. I mean we got a cheesecake shot of James (nearly) naked in his bunk, and we get shots of backs, (mostly clothed) bums, and pecs of the guys as well as (bending over) bum and bra shots of the girls. But zipping up shorts is (IMHO) completely unsexy and honestly kind of gross.

These guests are boat people, AKA yachties.

Yes, yachties drink a lot but Delores disobeyed a direct order from the captain. That is unfathomable to me. The last time I was invited on a friend’s boat we all got the “I am the CAPTAIN” speech”, perhaps he was concerned we’d just assume our regular goofy relationships would carry over to the sea.

Delores was a sloppy, coarse, and vulgar drunk. Thinking she, of all people, was going to tattoo an un-tattooed person was embarrassing. If it was a joke it didn’t fly.

She should have been seated as far from the captain as possible. And someone needs to be able to quiet her. “Shh, Delores, you’re talking too much.”

The captain doesn’t need to captain the boat but should frolic naked with the guests? Who da fook does she think she’s dealing with?

When she was on the swim platform looking into the water, her friend tried to entice her back with red wine.
I mean, she didn’t seem like an ugly, mean drunk but she did seem like a coarse, vulgar, sloppy drunk.

How about the other guest when the table learned Delores went into the drink, “Oh no, the captain won’t like us anymore!” Honey, he never liked you!

I did like that they recognized how beautifully maintained the boat was. One noted the polished chrome and was grateful he didn’t have to polish it himself.

I like the female primary’s cute dress she arrived in. Would love to buy and wear that myself!

I think the reason that none of the crew jumped in immediately had less to do with Captain Lee’s wrath (he clearly would have known it wasn’t disobedience on his crew’s part), but it was dangerous. Trying to coral a reluctant drunk in the dark open waters...just think if Delores were violently protesting their attempts to retrieve her, or even just got scared and started to flail or simply lacked the self-awareness to know where she and everyone else as and sent an elbow to a crew member’s temple...

She was stupid, it was a dangerous situation, but it wasn’t an emergency (which would have resulted in a more immediate and robust response (or not...).

My problem with Francesca is that she ridicules more often or points out problems, rather than correcting them. For instance, last (?) episode when she noted how Elizabeth pours wine. She didn't correct Elizabeth - at least we didn't see it - but rather made snotty remarks about her technique. I feel that Bugsy and Kate certainly would have taught her how to hold the bottle properly, and not do so meanly.

While I think Elizabeth is making a lot out of how Francesca is treating her, I do think there's something to her thought that there's a personal dislike there.

Also: I love seeing Captain Lee get mad! Cut short that charter!
