I have always wondered what they negotiated to be on set per episode - maybe 5 of 8 days?

But skilled writers who cared about the lead characters could have handled it 1000% better. It's not like they asked for 3 day weeks or extra weeks off. Reducing the episode number alone should have given the writers ample room to work with.

The fact that they cut their time on set is what made me give them a lot of latitude for the bigger cast...I didn’t even totally hate Jack and don’t mind that he became God. Hated what they did to Chuck though. Don’t take away all of their good work by saying they’ve been manipulated all their lives. Fewer episodes probably would have been the better way to handle it, I agree.

I finally watched this episode. I'm assuming that Jensen's "We're finally free" refers to their release from the show, because, dang. That was not good. Cute dog, though.
