I think the star of this season is Hannah.    Adorable, and very smart.

Ari is just looking for her ticket home, so nothing Bini does will be good enough for her, or her parents.    Deavan, don't get me started on the train wreck that is Deavan.

I bet Jenny and Sumit will find out that once they are together permanently, that life will not be so much fun.

Yep from a afar they are the star crossed lovers that no one can keep apart!!!  EVER!

Ari is looking for her ticket home and being so unattractively passive aggressive it is sad.  She is painting him as a shiftless loser to her mom and dad, complaining, allowing THEM to say "Hey look you need a bigger apartment" when it is HER who wants it.  Avi is HER BABY HER BABY HER BABY!!!

Watched the 20 minute preview this evening.

Ari's parents - your daughter chose to get involved with an entertainer. One from Ethiopia. She cannot expect the same creature comforts she has in the US. Bini is not going to turn in to an office worker. She made her decision and now she has to live with it. Or find a way to hi-tail it home and go back to babysitting her kid, going off on adventures, and going to yoga class.

Some of my aunts and uncles were farmers and I knew where the nice, fresh chicken dinner we had came from when we visited them. People just see the nicely packaged chicken in the store.  Ari's parents being doctors and being freaked out by a live chicken soon to become dinner? Really?

Cheezy's mom and aunt sure didn't stay long.

Only a few seconds of Brittany and Yazan - mainly her being 'tipsy'.

Jenny, that lanyard or whatever it is will not protect you from Covid. Did enjoy the scene of her putting her makeup on. LOL. You should be talking to the US Embassy folks about Plan A, B, C, etc. about your plans to stay in India and your visa regarding Covid.

Cheesy's aunt didn't even say a word or get out of the apartment her entire trip!  She had one beer upon her arrival. never to be seen until the farewell.  Nothing says "right decison" and "true love" like Cheesy's wailing in Meyleeza's arms as soon as Mommy left.

Ari's parents are visiting Ethiopia to perform their own wellness check on her.  Her mother's remarks and efforts, including the hotel room, are efforts to keep Ari calm or stable.  This is the first episode where Avi isn't crying nonstop.  (Kenny remains champ.)

Ari is upset that Baby had to go to work on her parents first night in Ethiopia but her parents did not seem upset, I am sure they were tired from the trip so they were probably glad not to have to anything, just get a good nights sleep.

If Baby did not go to work he would not have any income, Ari fails to put 2 and 2 together.

Mother and Father Ari is taken for a little sight seeing trip to what seemed to a market where live chickens are sold, Baby wanted to buy one for dinner but if they are staying in a hotel where would that chicken be cooked?

Why wouldn't Baby show the parents a botanical garden or Haile Salassie's home or something that did not look like their daughter had made a horrible decision moving to a country where the residents are trying to leave for a better quality of life elsewhere.

Tim and Meylezza...I am pretty sure they have been repeating the same lines in every single episode.  They are not in a committed relationship as in a marriage, it is not going to work with them, forget the stupid cheating thing I do not see any chemistry between them.  Why do these numb nuts have to squeeze the life out of a relationship when there really is no relationship between them? Aunt Tim just sort of disappeared didn't she.

I swear I have never seen anyone look more like a deer in headlights than Submit when Jenny said she wanted to just do the ring ceremony after the lawyer visit.  Now he is pumping the brakes on the whole marriage thing which makes not sense, he had to get a divorce ASAP because he loves Jenny so much and they want to be together and now he is like, "hey, what's the rush, we have all night baby."

Baby won't show the parents the nice sites of Ethiopia bc of TLC. Same reason Brittany and her friend took a stupid walk through the market then went to a bar when they could have gone to many different ruins or even the dead sea.

I wonder regardless of the talk if Sumit still is waiting for his parent's approval ? Unless Michael is fishing for a bigger richer fish?

When did Colombia become a WEEKEND destination for Americans?

We spent ONE DAY in Cartagena on an escorted cruise ship shore excursion.  We did a lovely walk through the historical part of town but felt unsafe at several stops, and were even warned by our (Colombian) tour guide about how to take precautions.  If we're ever on another ship that stops in Colombia, we're going to enjoy a spa day on the ship.

I think that if Sumit's parents, or anyone else object, that they will not be allowed to marry.

In Jordan, I bet that if the producers even ask about filming at historic sites, that they would be turned down, especially if anyone is familiar with the show, or see's Brittany and how she acts and dresses.

I never had kids, so I don't really know about the hormonal issues after having a baby.   Is Ari's up and down emotionalism and disconnect from reality normal?   Or did her parents come to Ethiopia because they think she's unstable, and in danger?

Very true, no matter how developed the country, we are shown squalor, abject poverty, chaotic traffic and several loose wild animals in every street scene.

This is the perfect trip!  You don't pay for the ticket or the accommodations and you don't make an asshole of yourself on national television.  Free trip! Not to Jordan with your friend who wants to make a spectacle of herself!

Postpartum hormones can be a challenge, especially with the fatigue mixed in.  I get the sense that Ari's had mental health issues in the past, which could make her parents more on the alert for her having postpartum depression.

I agree with this. From the very first episode though, Ari has had difficulty connecting with reality. She seemed to think that everyone was just so impressed by her going to have her baaabee in Ethiopia, like it made her special. I don't think she ever made the connection that she was actually  going to have her baby in Ethiopia! When she arrived in the country, she was completely disconnected from what was going on around her (apartments, his job, etc.). She is disconnected from Bini, the baby, and everything, but this isn't something new, I don't think. The post partum certainly seems to be making it worse, but there were MANY issues long before she had that baby.

I think Ari had a romantic fantasy about having her baby in Ethiopia, without realizing that she would be having her baby in Ethiopia.

Compare her to Tiffany, who married a South African (with a serious gambling addiction) and got pregnant.  Though she was pretty delusional herself, she changed her tune pretty quickly when she saw the condition of the hospital where she would have her baby.  Ronald didn't have much money so she was like, "no thanks" and came back to the USA and had her baby.

Hope Armando comes to his senses soon. His little girl is very well behaved, and asking for ice cream and a little inexpensive girl purse is not at all outrageous. I get the impression Kenny just dislikes women, and this poor girl will pay the price. And what kind of work could Kenny get in Mexico, where he doesn't speak the language and has alienated everyone already?

Completely agree.  Ari isn't quite alone as a young woman in a completely foreign culture.  The secret is that most capitals have International or American Women's clubs.  Addis Ababa:  https://www.facebook.com/International-Womens-Club-of-Addis-Ababa-508024936005797/

Why isn't she meeting people at the club?  Seoul has one and I'm sure there are these clubs in India.

Not only does the card make NO sense in general.. they also kept saying that it will protect you for up to a meter or whatever.  That makes even less sense.  The card doesn’t protect you from germs even further away?

Why am I trying to make sense of this??

There is a bit of a hormonal up and down but also she’s just kind of a bitch.  I don’t even get where she stands with everything.  Is she happy?  Does she want to stay in Ethiopia?  Doesn’t seem like it.  Is she trying to decide if she should stay or just call it and get out?  Seems like it.

Amit and his new wife obviously think this impending Sumit/Dimwit (aka Jenny) marriage is a horrible idea: she was just too nice to say anything (or maybe she didn't want to get in the middle of the brothers' relationship). And now even Sumit may be trying to sabotage it by telling someone who could clue the folks in. As dumb as Jenny is, she correctly senses she's being played. Methinks their enforced quarantine together made his fantasy of bagging an American woman less appealing.

A badge around your neck to ward off COVID??? Words fail me.

Ari was clearly hoping her folks would volunteer to pay for a bigger apartment.

Cheesestick and Ice Queen just need to go their separate ways.

I'm probably in the minority here but I don't think Yazan and Brittany have had sex yet. I think that's part of the problem and why he's so obsessed with seeing this through-the anticipation and fantasy of what she's going to be like is probably killing him (or going to get him killed).

This is a show about stupid ugly Americans (mostly) seeking love and marriage from other stupid uglies wherever they can find them....there’s not a lot of beauty here.

I thought Sumit's eyes were going to pop out of his head when Jenny said they should go ahead with the ring ceremony. I think he deliberately withheld from her the option to have a secular wedding  which his parents would be unable to stop. He was back pedaling so fast on all the aspects of approaching marriage that he's  lucky he didn't end up in the ocean, lol.  It seems he wants to see his parents not so they will give their blessing, but so they will stop it.

Ari's parents were cringeworthy. They had plenty of demands for this poor dude who's barely keeping his head above water.

If I have to se any more of Brittany and nasty Melyza, I will probably go jump into the ocean myself.

A lot of crazies, for sure, but I think there's been a lot of beauty in the franchise:

- Hannah loving both her dads

- Alla admitting that she wasn't in love with Matt, yet, but still treating him with friendship and respect

- Olga and her baby

- Danny and Amy conquering racism and cultural differences

- Kiralym and Alan playing charades

- Josh's mother crying as she hugged Aika on their wedding day

- Kyle willing to giving up everything to follow Noone back to Thailand

-  Michael's kids making Juliana a welcome cake

As far as attractive people go, IMO there have been quite a few good-looking people: Juliana, Amy, Kiralym, Devar, Noon, Alexei, Loren, Paola (pre-surgeries), Tiffany, Olga, Kalani, Molly, Olivia (Molly's oldest daughter), Evelyn, David, Anfisa, Cassia, Chelsea, Yamir, Alla, Johnathan, Fernanda (not necessarily to me, but some think so), Nikki, Aleksandra, Chantel, Andrei, Emily, Sasha, Hazel, Anny, Syngin, Natalie, Jesse (when he's not talking), Antonio, Abby, Ximena, Miriam, Avery, Omar, Maria, Jeniffer, Avery, Ash (when his eyes aren't bugging), Varya, Stephanie, Erika, Lana...hell, even Jorge is looking pretty good since he got out of prison.

I don't know why studios still get a kick out of poverty porn. They do it where I live, too. There will be a line of beautiful farms and the only thing they'll show will be the house with the yard full of car parts and garbage.

Ari and her family...ugh!    Bini talked about how this was the biggest, nicest and most luxurious place he had ever lived, and they crapped all over it... this isn’t good enough for Ari and Avi.   And get a job with regular hours and a steady (and bigger) pay cheque.... like he had never considered that.   The guy is working five jobs, hustling to make a living.  It isn’t like there are a ton of opportunities available to him.

And then there is Brittany who still doesn’t get how torn Yazam is between his family/religion and her.   It isn’t about him being his own man. It is about staying alive.   She has kept him on a string for years... I can’t see it ending well for anyone.

And Jenny... she may finally be getting that the great love story is all on her side.  I don’t know how she didn’t realize this when he married someone else.

Kenny doesn’t get that everyone isn’t against their marriage.  The clerk turned them down in accordance with the rules she has to follow, BUT gave them detailed instructions of how to go about getting married.

Tim....he is just a drip.   Nothing else to say.

5. We all get tired of drama ~ Sumit looks like the sickly kid who never had the right grades, was always creating some sort of problems for the family and everyone had to help out. Amit looks like the responsible sibling who has it together -- a good job and a level headed wife. If Amit supports Sumit in marriage, then any future problems, Sumit might come to Amit for help. Would Amit be willing to help if Jenny falls sick? Amit might be okay with a relationship that has no real future but a marriage? Then Amit & his family has to share in all those consequences (social, emotional as well as financial) and it is clear neither he or his wife want that.

This. And the fact that I think Sumit also might have in mind of becoming a Bollywood actor (hence the over the top drama).

We never saw Ms. Ex-Sumit but I bet she was a better choice than chicken Jenny.  I honestly wonder if Sumit just thinks Jenny has money.

Jenny’s complaining about Sumit’s parents accepting Sumit’s sister-in-law but not her was infuriating. Did I miss the episode where the brother embarrassed the whole family and cleaned out all their savings? Until that happens, I think it’s pretty clear why the parents accept one relationship more than the other and I don’t blame them. I’m really over Jenny’s bitching and whining about Sumit’s family in general. If she hates his parents, his brother, and the idea of him having any relationship with his family that much, why did she move to India? She knew exactly what she was getting into in that respect, even if she didn’t realize she was also wandering into a mess of a marriage.

Ari/Avi/Bini:  Why are they involving family in the baptism decision?  Oh yeah - Ari can't go to the bathroom without her parents approval and Bini is the coddled youngest who had others do things/make decisions for him - why should that change now?  If we hear "I need help with the baby" one more time.......What, pray tell, do you need help with?  Are you expressing breast milk or supplementing with formula adn want to nap?  Frankly, I liked being home alone with my newborn.....no one yap yap yapping in my ear!

Jenny - you are in waaay over yourhead, you always have been, girl.  I stand by my earlier statement that he never intended to marry her.  I was not surprised one bit to learn last night that there is an option they can take advantage of to marry ASAP.  I am shocked Jenny did not hail a cab right away and get thee to a temple.  Sumit HAD to know about that option, he just neglected to tell her.  I felt for the other DIL - she had this look like, "What he hell just happened?"  Hey other DIL - go and give your MIL and FIL a grandchild and you will be GOLDEN.  Forever!

Yazan/Brit:  Don't care - he has some idea of her that is false and man those love goggles are on tight!

Kenny - stop your indignation.  Said it before, I will state it again:  Prior to summer 2013 you were not able to wed in the US so slow your roll, player!  Why the rush to marry?  You want to get a job?  Where?  You seemingly speak zero Spanish, so........

I was on the phone with my college age son during Devan and Company - I would have muted her and her weird Mom anyway......doubt I missed much.  I heard they are planning their seventh wedding ceremony..

2. Health & ageing ~ These are huge concerns from a financial perspective for many. Private healthcare is expensive and public healthcare is overcrowded to say the least. While Jenny may argue that she is healthy, the practical response would be "Yea, that's now but what about later? Who is going to pay for your hospital expenses when you get sick? It is not a matter of if but when because that's how life is; one can only hope it is not serious and expensive." Given that Sumit is diabetic, it means that his family would want a healthy partner to help him if he develops any sort of added issues related to diabetes.
There is no government support unless you worked in a government sector job and are eligible for pension. Sumit has burned through much of the financial savings of the family for the divorce. How will that impact the retirement of the parents?

I think if Jenny were a millionaire Sumit's parents wouldn't give a fuck about how old she is.

I fucking HATE Ari's parents, from my generation, two entitled boomers who don't realize that when THEY were young, your salary could actually pay your expenses with no problem, and people actually could work their way through college.  Bini is doing the best he fucking can.  Ari wanted to have a Disney fantasy but reality is kicking her in the ass.  Ari's parents are like parents of drug addicts who provide their children with dope because they're afraid.

Both Sumit and Jenny seem like real drama queens even without the cameras. He used Jenny as an excuse to break his marriage and get a divorce but he never had that "I am in love and so I will conquer all mountains" kind of attitude. At the lawyer's office, it suddenly dawned on him that this is real and based on his reaction, he really does not want to marry her. It is also possible that he is simply not ready to leap into another marriage as the last one went so wrong for him.  More than Jenny, he wanted freedom and definitely, the camera and attention.

I think he also doesn't want to lose his parents, which is abundantly clear is what will definitely happen, even if he wasn't completely sure earlier on.

Well, at this point he has almost certainly realized she doesn't.   She would've paid the $20k for the divorce if she had the money.  Now that all the obstacles have been removed, Sumit is going to have to rely on his parents to provide the final nail in the coffin to Jenny's marriage hopes.  He probably has asked his parents to object strenuously, and he probably provided the "over my dead body" language.   At some point Jenny may realize that Summit knew all about the alternate marriage route, but if he did, why would he go to the marriage attorney who would almost certainly tell them about this option.  So maybe he didn't know.  He isn't the brightest light in 90 day candelabra.  The only way I see him marrying Jenny is if her daughter and DIL arrive with a shotgun.

Ari and her parents make me want to slap them with my remote.  Her parents have different religions, and Ari and Bini have similar differences.  Mama Ari and Ari should have had discussions about this.  Or maybe Mama Ari never thought Bini would want his child Baptized.  I would guess the rite is similar to the Catholic one in which the parents and godparents promise to raise the child as a Christian.  It is more than a sprinkle or immersion, and the service lasts maybe 15 minutes.  Several other promises are made.   I thought at the beginning Ari was wearing a rather large star of David necklace;  that has disappeared.  She went to Hebrew school, but we aren't told for how long.  If she were as Jewish as she sounded at the beginning she would not only not want the child Baptized, she would have almost certainly insisted on the ritual circumcision.  At least I think she would, but I am not Jewish so I can't stay for certain.
