This seems like a pretty good group, but I also thought that about Hannah's season and she ended up with the absolute bottom of the barrel so that doesn't guarantee success.

Is "Claire is 39" the new "Colton is a virgin"?

I wonder if the Page’s tattoos were a deal breaker for Clare? He seems way too intense and temperamental to me. Good he went home. Tyler seemed too effeminate for Clare so not surprised he’s gone.
Did the boy band manager get sent home? Please say yes.
I don’t get very good vibes from Dale. He seems like a take it or leave it kind of guy though he does have a kind demeanor about him like he appears to be listening. I hope it’s not a bait and switch, too good to be true thing. I’d hate for her to get hurt again.
Can’t wait to find out who she gave that nice send off speech about in the previews. I was like, “yes ma’am!”

Caveat: I've never seen this show before, I might or might not watch it ever again, but I had it on in the background while making dinner and doing stuff.

I just wanna know if the dude in the straitjacket did that on purpose or if the pickin's were so slim that they visited the local House for the Criminally Insane to fill out the cast (it's 2020, you never know these days).  I mean, I assume you have to be a little bit insane in order to go on a TV show and makeout with 20 randos in hopes of finding your true love and not the clap but the straitjacket was a choice and I appreciated that every time I looked at the screen, there would be Straitjacket Dude just kinda lurking in the corner.

Straitjacket Dude 2020: You'd be insane not to choose him.

That's Kenny and he's still there. To his credit, he's 39, a plus in my book.

I kept a list as they got out of the limo so I would know who is still there and how old everyone is. I missed a couple of guys but figure I'll catch up with them next episode or two.

The previews are AWESOME! I hope this lasts for many eps before I have to bail because ... well, you know.

I don’t think it is just about showing up per se, the show was delayed months and then they had to come and quarantine 14 days fir a show that is usually filmed over 45 days, max.   So those guys who went home the “first night”, have actually been there for weeks already only to get rejected night 1 of filming.

Wait, so they don't do their own silly little prop/opening whatever thing? The show just takes them to a Spirit Hallowe'en warehouse and what you get is what you get? I guess that makes sense. You can't expect 30 IG models to all be both handsome and witty.

Straitjacket dude should have looked at his call sheet and been on time. This is why I'm always five minutes early to everything - that way, I don't get stuck with the straitjacket.

Also thinking about the time they had to take off from work during a pandemic when jobs are on the line anyway. It would be annoying to be sent home night one.

I’m not convinced Clare wants to find love.  Dale said “like” every third word in their convo.  He could’ve just been nervous but I couldn’t see what she saw as a 40 year old woman.

I was disappointed in the ages of the guys no 27 or 30 year old is going to be that interested in her for that long.  If she wants kids it needs to happen yesterday. Unfair but true.

I think some might like older woman.  My friend is 42 and just had her first child with her 28 year old boyfriend.  It happens.  But most of these people just want to be on tv.  I just can’t handle the gimmicks and how the Bachelor/Bachelorette has to act so surprised and happy.  It’s so contrived.  It all seems fake to me.  Like Claire almost in tears because one guy broke the rules and reached out to her during quarantine?  To be that emotional over something trivial from some guy she hasn’t even met?   Doesn’t she have friends and family to talk to?  Quarantine was that hard that some guy she doesn’t know reaching out to her reduces her to tears?  I mean come on.

I think that's the mantra because that's what her deceased father had said about her, having courage or something to just keep showing up. The phrase that annoyed me was her endlessly saying "I love it" after every little gimmick the men did after their limo exits. I would say that I hope that won't be this season's "let's do the damn thing," except that we all know what is expected to happen shortly.

Color me extremely disappointed about those little kid ages. There were 11 in their 20s, seven that were 30/31. A 38 and a 40 got sent home. Blake the professional manscaper is the oldest at 41. Boy Band Kenny is 39.

“Whenever I had my daughter...” Sir, do you not know when you had your daughter? Oh, he’s the Here for the Wrong Reasons guy, so his poor grammar is the least of his problems. They are from the same random small town?

that is a weird affectation I have heard from young people recently.  they substitute "whenever" for "when" and the sentence doesn't mean the same thing.

I really hate that we're supposed to believe the guys came up with all these gimmicks on their own, instead of being assigned gimmicks by the producers.  And I hate how  awful some of them were.

I feel so sorry for any of the guys who waited, quarantined, met Claire and then were sent home.

Really tattooed hands guy?? You're surprised to not be making a good enough first impression and having been sent home? I'd guess this will be a theme in your life. There are multiple hand tattoos going on there, which means lots of planning but not much consideration of what the real world would think of them. I'd say that's a walking 'not the sharpest knife in the drawer' red flag. Here's a hint: find someone with tattoos or someone who at least likes them maybe. There are ways to find people who do, try that instead.

Why does straitjacket dude have to keep his straitjacket on all night (and into the morning) but suit of armor guy gets to take his off (and leave it out in the yard)?? Not cool. I bet he was dehydrated by night's/morning's end!

Oh, I didn't realize how much I missed everyone till I started reading the comments!  (Does that make me sound pathetic?  If so, I'm ok with it.) Yeah, Straitjacket Guy.  Could he not get out of the straitjacket and no one would help him or what?  Either way, I salute you, sir.  You played it till the end (i.e. the RC, where he received a rose.) Bosawks, I love your dogs!  Maybe we should all post pictures of our pets!  Clare started it, bringing her adorable dogs with her to her covid-free locale.  We can all follow suit, virtually!  Wasn't Nick Viall 39 when he was The Bachelor?  I don't recall anyone making a big deal out of his age, no catcalling about him being one of the oldest bachelors. Per the previews, looks like the contestant pointing out Clare's age got his ass handed to him by her.  Nice.  I totally get Clare's reaction to Dale.  I went on a tour to Europe when I was younger, one of the 4-countries- in-2-weeks-with-1-suitcase type of tour and met an Irish guy in a pub in Dublin.  It was thunderbolt city for me.  We spent the next day together but parted without plans to keep in touch.  I was a very young 26 and just wasn't ready.  So I say to Clare, you go, girlfriend.  If it feels so right from the beginning, see it through to the end; no regrets.  Eazy for the next Bachelor?  I'm in!

Nick is now 40. He was around 36 when he was The Bachelor. I think fly fisherman Byron was our oldest Bachelor. He was either 39 or 40 iirc.

Clare is so pretty and has a great figure but I don't know that many 39 year old women who would be that interested in men in their 20s or even early 30s. I think 35-44 would have been much more appropriate.

Oh that short legged pants without socks look is just awful! Especially if they are short enough to practically ride up on your shins, like they did on that extremely tall guy who called himself "a tall drink of water" when meeting Clare.

I have sat with my notebook and pen in the past and took note of everyone. Their name, age, occupation, and area of living, like saber, lol. I didn't this time, but am glad we have a secretary on top of these things. I used to give one through five stars also, according to my own thoughts on attractiveness and who I thought was a good catch.

Maybe saber can refresh my memory the name of the tattle tailing attorney who's name starts with a T. If any of the contestants ever watched these bachelor shows they should know that being a tattler, and "outing" another contestant for their "wrong reasons" for being there, to the prize person they are all vying for, they should know it NEVER works in their favor.

I liked Blake and his howling hound dog. I do wish Clare would give these guys a chance to show their inner selves, instead of deciding from one look who she felt the most attracted to upon first glance. Dale has kind of a presence to himself for sure, and I get the instant attraction, but it doesn't mean he's perfect husband material for her. It means she finds him hot.

Not the best determination for a life mate. There's plenty of hot looking guys who have a strong presence vibe to them, out there. Alot of them are in love with themselves. I think she is being immature with her sudden choice of he's the one without really getting to know each of them. Sexual chemistry is one thing, but the rest of life is much more than that.

Apparently everyone thought either Madison or Hannah Ann(both then 23) would be cast, so they picked young guys.   The Covid break gave them the opportunity to add a few older guys, but they didn’t have the time (or willing bachelors?) to get more older guys.

How can they have the rose ceremony if she didn’t talk to everyone yet?

The lead never talks to everyone despite how long the night lasts. That's why there's always some panic and freakout when Chris Harrison announces the rose ceremony is about to start and some start boo-hooing about having no time with the lead. Original Tyler C never spoke to Hannah on Night 1.

I had the episode playing in the background for most of the two hours and so I missed most of the specifics. But I call bullshit on the "love at first sight" crap with Clare and Dale and instead I feel positive that they maybe DMed each other or something and began talking online, before filming started.

I THINK these men wear ankle socks.  Very very very tiny ankle socks that you can't see.

There was a Twitter poll where the majority of people said that shoes without socks is disgusting, and I personally know people (both men and women) who wear those little things in their shoes so nobody sees socks because GASP socks are so UNATTRACTIVE.  I've tried to wear them but they won't stay on my feet so I gave up.

I always find it amusing/perplexing when Somme’s profession is “former something or other”.    It this because that was the most interesting job they ever had?  Are they retired?  Unemployed?

Dale was listed as a former football player.  If he had played longer, retired would be possible, but an injury cut his career short after 3 seasons, so unlikely he accumulated enough money to retire.  I’m guessing aspiring model, actor or influencer.
