Was the Hamilton question the best one MM could come up with for John Bolton given all the stuff in his book about the administration?  Did she think that what we all  care most about, with respect to his information,  is whether or not he understands that Hamilton fans are upset with the title?  Really...this from a “pundint ”?

Who's Tom?  And Whoopie talking about his "Great White Way" comment at the end of that segment was so odd and out of nowhere.

From the 'net: Tom Leonardis. For the past 23 years, Leonardis has been Whoopi Goldberg's business partner on every front. Leonardis president of Goldberg's overall company, Whoop, Inc. and acts as Executive Producer and head of development for their company One Hoe Productions.

From me:  That "overall company" is not her fashion line.

It's amazing that the sophisticated, educated world traveler, Ms. McCain, has never heard of "The Great White Way."

I thought Sunny asked interesting, probing questions of John Bolton--the same ones a couple of times.  I don't think she listened to the answers because her mind is made up...on all aspects of his book, his tenure, his responsibilities as she defines them, his politics, and his mustache.

I think he fought the good fight and defended himself well and politely.

Glad to know I wasn't the only one who thought it was laughably superfluous for McCain to feign offense over the use of Hamilton lyrics for the title of his book. We know she hates all celebrities, so no way does she give a crap about Lin-Manuel Miranda anyway.

WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!

"I'm less an identity politics person than I think the rest of the hosts on this show".

I've never been more shocked by something Meghan's said.  Truly.

And what does more women in politics have to do with it?  The others were just saying Biden's doing the smart thing.

Meghan just randomly mentions Hawaii.  And she not mad anymore about being in quarantine, apparently.  I guess seeing what's now happening in the states that reopened without following any guidelines has changed her mind.

Is Meghan pretending she's in NYC again?  Or maybe she's back.

One of my very best friends is a health care worker in California.  She recently tested positive. Thankfully asymptomatic and is now testing negative.  You know where she thinks she contracted the virus? Home Depot.  She is an avid gardener and needed some things. She wore a mask but said many shoppers were not. Whoopi is exactly right. This is a health issue not a political issue.

And in Illinois, I was at Home Depot and EVERY employee and customer had masks on. Because it's the rule. And in Illinois, covid 19 cases are going down, because masks are required in public places, and businesses were delayed in opening up.

You’re lucky. Here next door in IN I’m often the only person in the store* (aside from employees) wearing a mask. Stupid people. Cases are still going down but it’s not license to be reckless.

*I’ve only been to the grocery store and Lowe’s a handful of times.

Meanwhile here in West Virginia our cases have been low compared to other states. However some our residents thought it would be a good idea to go on vacation in Myrtle Beach and instead of bringing back souvenirs they brought back the virus. So now some summer sports for kids which had been allowed to start are now cancelled.

Meghan is content to continue quarantining? She must have finally gotten her crib. Or someone close to her has covid so it's real to her now.

I'm here in IN too...I was at the Mall over the weekend(I know, a crazy thing to do!), and very few people were wearing masks!  Gads, are people Not listening to what is happening?!  Or they just don't care?

this is the same MEghan McCain who ALWAYS brings up if something happened in a blue state or a red state (ignoring the fact that NO state is 100% either way) .  she is the one who prefaces statements with "as a conservative",  and says to a guest ,"you and I disagree politically" before she compliments them.

Meghan McCain is a wealthy white woman who likes guns - that's her identity.  And her politics go along those lines.  She is naive enough to  thinks she's such an anomaly because she's a republican who has a gay friend.

Me too in Indiana. I was just in a hardware store and my husband and I were the only people in masks. Not even the employees were wearing them. We got in and out quickly. I want masks!!

They did mention that Jed had Covid and Abby's Dad (after I read about it in the newspaper), but I didn't know about Abby.

I never heard them mention Jed having COVID - maybe I missed it ? I Know back before COVID they wished her congrats on her new baby (I think it was born the end of January) but don't recall them mentioning COVID.

No, she was pearl clutching on behalf of Lin Manuel Miranda. She was offended, offended I tell you, that Bolton titled his book with a phrase from a Hamilton song.

I guess he couldn't find a catchy title from a Clay Aiken song ?

I believe Tom has been the one who co-produced 'Sister Act' as well as her stand-up comedy acts, too. He's been with her since the beginning. I recall Whoopi saying last year that she was reviving Sister Act in London this summer (before COVID stopped everything) and she and Tom were working on another B'way musical, but she didn't say much about the new project.  So she and Tom have ties to B'way, and 'The Great Bright Way' sounds great.

For Meghan, "identity politics" is an underhanded way to be dismissive of her co-hosts, particularly when the subject of race comes up.  If a Republican politician gets in trouble for saying something racist, you can count on Meghan to decry identity politics before breaking into "both sides" blather with a generous helping of "intellectually dishonest."

I doubt that Lin Manuel Miranda was the first person to write "the room where it happened", since things that happened in the oval office have long been described as happening "in the room".  You'd think someone who has been a pundint (sic) since she was in utero would know that.

Also, in an interview on Letterman before the premiere of Hamilton, LMM described how reading a historian's book made him think up turning Hamilton's life into a rap musical.  He was so enthusiastic that I had to find the book in the library and read it.

Good lord, that footage of those Palm Beach residents...I'd make a Florida joke but I have my fair share of stooooooopid people in Michigan.

Even Meg was astounded by their stupidity. I was half expecting her to jump to their defense. Well, a broken clock can be right twice a day.

I had heard about that Palm Beach meeting earlier this week and all I can do is just shake my head. I creep on someone's FB page (don't judge me) and she lives in Florida and calls herself a holistic life coach and she proudly posts all kinds of anti masks and hoax articles.  It should be mentioned she lives in a gated community and hasn't been out in public in over three months.

The fact wearing a mask is a political issue is so beyond ridiculous. My local news comment sections is filled with comments from people I can only describe as too stupid to live. Sorry not sorry. We are in the midst of a global pandemic and people are equating wearing a mask to help prevent the spread of a potentially deadly virus to concentration camps.  And the reason for that is because as Joy always says it starts at the top.  Not wearing a mask is the new drinking the koolaid.

I wonder if this kid running for Congress wears a mask. Or does that limit his freedom?  It appears he did not at his rally. Good thing he has great health care.  I wish someone would have pushed back on his claim that the admin response to covid has been good or disputed some of his other contentions.  I guess no one wanted to work too hard for the second taping of the day.  They were already thinking about the weekend.

He’s just another mouthpiece for Trump.

Don't like Cawthorne at all. He sounds just like other conservative Republicans. He is getting media attention because he is young.

And maybe our Canadian posters can tell us if what he said about rationed medical care is true.

I think they were surprised.  From the way the show's announcer had been describing him all week I was expecting someone who was going to be moderate but everything Cawthorne said sounded like it came from the Republican talking points. He even threw in the word socialism.

I wish they hadn't picked that clip of the woman who was saying masks are literally killing people, mentioned citizen's arrests, and said that people there were obeying the devil's law.  And also the clip of the woman who said they "wanted to throw God's wonderful breeding system out the door".  Because then I wanted to know what exactly they meant.  At least the last woman's comments were decipherable.

Meghan thought it was funny?  Just laughing and laughing and laughing and then laughing some more..  Doesn't she realize these are the people she's usually defending?  And that people who are talking this way are a big reason the numbers are skyrocketing in certain areas.

Meghan - "The infamous Alexandria Ocasio Cortez".  "The rise of socialism on the left".  She's back in her lane.  Ooh, he actually complimented AOC.

Well, Madison Cawthorn certainly has the talking points down.  But if he'd been paying attention, he would be aware that in the last few days quite a few Republican politicians are now acknowledging that more needs to be done to get the virus under control. and are no longer comfortable parroting what the White House is saying.

You know, you might be right.  It does make more sense.  Lol.

I always have the closed captioning on, and it said "breeding system".  I guess coming right after the first woman, who definitely did not make sense, the closed captioner's take seemed plausible.  Usually you can tell when they get a word wrong.

I'm 10 minutes in. Boo! No Ana. I really had my hopes up that she would be there since George is her friend.

I want to see her too.  Nothing against Sara but I think we've only seen Ana once on the show since the pandemic hit.  That's not nearly enough.  What gives?
