S12.E07: How Ya Like Them Apples?

After seeing Sawnya's hedonistic behavior continue, I think I agree with her "I wasn't a trophy wife" rant.  She was more like a high-end call girl.  She sold her vagina for the trappings of an old money lifestyle.  Now, she can't see anything past booze and money.  Asking the orchard owner how many acres he had, then trying to work it out in her head how to equate apple trees to cash-on-hand.  She seems to only value people by their balance sheet and how they can prop her up.

I didn't find the apartment tacky or shabby at all.

I am sure that Leah's apartment cost plenty and maybe she is not that into interior design but Lu was rude in saying anything about it, Lu does not practice what she preaches, Lu has no class.

I miss the cheerfully oblivious version of Sonja that forgot her bloomers for the Marie Antoinette costume and I'd rather watch her caburlesque show than Luann attempting standup.

I also miss seeing the apartments like in the earlier seasons. I am fairly certain Sonja still has the townhouse - I follow Q on Instagram and she has posted from the townhouse recently. Note: actually I just Googled it, it's on the market for $10.75 and the photos are gorgeous.

I haven’t read through all the posts yet, so someone else might have suggested this, but maybe the women treat John so disrespectfully because they (Dorinda included) blame him for getting her into drugs. Dorinda mentioned that he continued some “lifestyle” issue when he knew she didn’t like it. Maybe she got hooked on something in addition to her beloved alcohol.

She's still angry about him dying.  It's not right that she's taking it out on Tinsley, but she still has a lot of anger.

I am.  For the exact same reasons as Dorinda.  I planned on driving around the country in an RV and being camp hosts and bickering at each other and always having to cook extra bacon so there's some for the table.

There is always anger.  You should however, learn to channel that anger so your not screaming at somebody.  Sometimes I get so mad, I well up with tears, but I do try not to effect other people.   It's not a constant thing, but sometimes when life overwhelms you, you become acutely aware of how alone you are.

The alcohol, John, unable to cope?  Richard's death has a root in all of it.

It is something you can't understand until you experience it yourself.  I dont mean that as a slight, but the gauntlet of emotions you experience doesn't have an expiration date on this one.

I, for one, would love to join you RVing across the country, bickering over nonsense and eating bacon with you. I know someone that has the proper license, and can drive us...we had planned (with the woman from the sandwich shop he frequents), to move to our own private tropical island (our spouses living on the other side of the island, if allowed at all), but this is on his bucket list, so I'm pretty sure I can talk him into it.

I just need a few yrs to tie up some loose ends, and for the market to bounce back so we have some money to live off of. but I'm there for you, sign me up!

on topic: I hope Dorinda's not going to be like this all season (tho I fear she will). This episode started out light and fun, and Dorinda drove it deeper into the toilet than Sonja's Blackberry. We just (thankfully!) got rid of a bitter, nasty harpy, we don't need someone to fill her SkinnyShoes.

There are people who do things from their heart and expect nothing in return.  Dorinda makes it nice at Bluestone Manor, throws a couple of chickens in the oven, gets dresses for people from a designer, then thinks she owns you and throws favors in your face, forever.  She didn’t lose a husband, she lost her identity of being married to a worldly guy who traveled the world and associated with important people.  That is what’s gone, her life, not Richard.  I’m not a shrink, but the woman is having a nervous breakdown clearly.  If she would now find a guy with the same credentials as Richard had, she would do a 180 back to normal and be happy again.  She hates her life as it is now.  I have a feeling John had enough of being used and dumped her.   Does Bravo think this is entertaining?

I am so sorry.  Sending you virtual hugs.

After seeing the much more pleasant way they treat each other in some of their non-Bravo videos, I can only believe that these women are only doing this because the Bravo producers are coaching them & goading them by tempting them with huge sums of cash, asking to pick fights & behave as terribly as they can when they are filming the show. What else can explain such awful behavior?  It's all smoke & mirrors, isn't it?

In what world would Dorinda get a worldly rich man to want to be with her?

She would have trouble getting a homeless guy.

She needs to borrow Sonja’s address book to get the numbers of some escorts.

If Tinsley would stop trying to answer back to Dorinda, Dorinda would have nothing to get loud about.  I find that the louder someone is, the less they have to say. Tinsley should know by now that she should let Dorinda yell all she wants and in the end Dorinda will look foolish.

I think there is only so much hate you can take and remain quiet ... you become the doormat .... No one has the right to just unload on you anytime they feel like it and not have some kinda repercussion and that is what Dorinda has been getting away with .. Dorinda uses the fact that Tinsly doesn't really fight back in her favor .....That's what bullys do ... Some one ANYONE needs to step up and stop it

Tinsley did respond. She stopped filming. At a certain point it is just not worth.

Yeah, and plus, the argument you are responding to makes it seem like Tinsley is actually doing something to invite Dorinda's attacks, which she really isn't. Bullies tend to go after the people that they perceive as the weakest, which is the reason why Dorinda is targeting her. Standing up to her may or may not end the bullying, but Tins has tried the "stay silent" method and all it has done is cause Dorinda to escalate her attacks.

Its classic textbook blaming the victim for what the aggressor is doing .. that's like telling a battered wife if she would just cook that meal the way they want or if they would just not do that ONE thing they know that they don't like then they wouldn't get beat ... The person could act like the perfect spouse and still be beat ... its not the victims fault its the one that cant control their angers ....

She wouldn’t find a guy.  I meant “if”.  She should have considered herself lucky to have had John.  I only hope he doesn’t cave and want her back.  She did insinuate she could do better after evaluating her life.  He would be a fool.  Now she’s going to say his business was so good because of her, lol.

Also interesting for Ramona to confirm that she's afraid of Dorinda.

So this is a big revelation for me this episode, but Dorinda is... the new Bethenny? Angry and crying at every turn, offended by Tinsley's existence, jealous AF of Tins because she's younger and prettier and doesn't have money worries, and has the whole group on eggshells, terrified to call her out on her behavior. WOW.

I have no clue how or why the group allowed Dorinda to speak to Tinsley like that. WTF did Tinsley ever do to ANYONE, let alone Dorinda?! It's a farce. It's a big nasty show for the cameras but it's pissing me off. Tinsley is harmless, and quite frankly, it smacks of desperation that Sonja and Dorinda are so obsessed with bringing her down.

That tennis bracelet/small dick comment was way fucking below the belt. Sonja, you wet-brained sop, if Tins was just looking for a guy with cash she could find one. And she'd be out screwing half of Manhattan, as you've done for years. Tinsley loves Scott and can't get over him! The comment was not based in any reality.

Dorinda has not moved on from Richard. Ok. I get it. Sonja yet again chiming in about "losing" her husband does annoy me. Divorce isn't death. Both are painful, though, and neither have moved on. I don't care that Dorinda isn't over Richard or wants to go on and on about him. And John knew exactly what he signed up for when he swooped in on a grieving widow. If Dorinda treats him badly, he should move on too. But there is no excuse for weaponizing grief to grind some girl into powder who doesn't deserve it. That's when you need to apologize and seek therapy.

That lunch table was a Mean Girls high school cafeteria. Everyone watching Dorinda slice and dice at Tinsley and no one standing up for her, because they're all afraid of the Big Bad Wolf. I wanted to dump rose on all of them for their lack of moral fiber.

Interesting to me that it's been the last two seasons Dorinda went from crumbs-on-the-mouth weirdo when drinking to full-on front assault mode. And then it occurred to me that this nasty turn coincides with losing Carole as a castmate. Carole, the fellow widow and Dorinda Whisperer, is no longer around as a grounding force. She understood the grief, wasn't a heavy drinker, and I think generally brought out a lightness in Dorinda.

Sonja, Ramona, and Lu are close with Dorinda but they're also wino-partying whackadoodles and that's not what Dorinda needs. All the close friendships in this cast are bringing out the worst in her.

I really didn't enjoy what I watched tonight. I also had a huge issue with Lu getting snooty about Leah's apartment. It's lovely, and she enjoys it, and that's all that matters. It's nicer than Sonja's by a mile!

Speaking of Sonja... I have rewatched season 3 a million times. Where did that beautiful, classy, level-headed woman go? Was it all lost to the bankruptcy and booze? I have a hard time believing these two women are the same person. She's SUCH a mess now, and it's hard to watch. I used to think she was acting for the cameras but it's too frequent and embarrassing now.

I think Tinsley is misplaced in this group. She's too young for this cast, too light, and too full of positive energy. They can't abide her happy persona and are trying to smother her. It must be like dealing with 6 of her mother, so no wonder she flips out.

Great post.  One thing .. Dorinda is not grieving Richard .. she is grieving the LIFE she had with Richard.  Just because she said she loved him doesn’t mean she did.  How would we know?  Lots of women stay with their husbands not out of love, but what they have because of them.  Maybe she was rough with Richard too.  We don’t know, and she’ll never tell.  Look how she treats John and all her friends.  She has a vicious mouth, and probably always had.   This episode gave me such a freakin headache.

I think at the end of the day this is a job and work for them ... would it be ok for a coworker of yours to belittle you and slam you every time you worked? NO they would be removed and reprimanded .... No one has the right to treat you like shit and get away with it at your job.... Emotional distress and bulling isn't something to just be laughed about .... I love that we all pretty much are united in the fact that what Dorinda did is NOT ok.. Dorinda is already doubling down on her excuse so its gone over her head ..... This really has killed any good will I had for her ....

Grieving your love and the life you had go hand in hand.  It is entertwined with each other and also separate from each other.

We start new chapters, but it doesnt mean we wish the book hadn't taken off in a different direction and had kept the plotline and characters.

I do agree that we are united that what Dorinda did was not okay, but I'm still going to root for her to figure out what she needs to do.

I am not trying to come off as insensitive but you cant just blame an issue on something all the time  and do ABSOLUTELY nothing to correct it .....But instead blame everyone else around you for "triggering" you ... That's not how that works ...

She also criticized the way Tinsley was walking down the runway which ruined Tinsley's high from doing something she loved. Nope, she really hasn't been that nice. Bitchy Ramona is alive and kicking. I'm sure she's going to rear her ugly head soon enough, the season is still young. Although, it looks like from the previews she goes in on Dorinda so I'm holding out hope she directs her nastiness at Dorinda full on.

I need "The Soup" to cue the music for Unlikely Voice of Reason because that title would go to one Ramona Singer.  There is a plethora of reasons I should hate her, but I can't.  She was like Sonja on Scary Island level of sane this episode.

As for Sonja, I think she was drunk, but I still think she likes to portray the wacky drunk person, so I'm not sure some of her performance wasn't amped up to that end.  The whole "peeing in the cornfield" thing didn't bother me a bit.  We've seen this for ages: Bethenny did it on her wedding day in an ice bucket, and she did it on the way to AC; a few Dallas women did it last season in Mexico; there were some OC women who pissed on the Whistler mountains.  I'm sure I'm leaving some out.  I'm not gonna get pissed at these ladies needing to piss, or I'd have checked out many, many seasons ago.

Leah's apartment reminded me a lot of my sister's first NYC abode, but that was Columbia student housing.  Luann wasn't wrong (even though she hasn't had a place in the city in years).  And that clear lucite "coffee table" was beyond sad, even for student housing.  But we can't expect much from Leah, as she's got a *brand* that has fewer options than the Rinna children's does.

Tinsley needs to hang with Martin more.  Even if he calls her Tinsdale...because that's fuckin' appropriate, with Dale being her mother and warden.

Really don't care if Lu drinks or not.

And that brings me to Dorinda.  Lots of people upthread have wondered what she'd do if she encountered some of the prolific "argue on their feet" ladies of Atlanta or Potomic.  I'll tell you what she'd do: she'd ask them to hang up her coat.  She has been a POS since her first season, when she relayed two stories of her mistaking POC for service workers or beggars and when she berated John in an Italian restaurant (she was wearing her first season trademark red plaid skirt) for being too familiar.  That shit ain't grief.  That's who she is.  And if she really was Susan Sharon, she's been that way since she was married to Lynch.  Furthermore, she's on the backside of the curve, at 55, to be blaming anything on menopause.  She's using her grief, maybe in part for Richard, but mostly for her dead life style (therwise, she wouldn't have shot at Nello, an overpriced shithole) for her reaction.  And that's not to take away from any viewer's reaction to her grief...I get that sympathetic vibe...but I find Dorinda so manipulative about her loss that I can't get sad for her any more.  And if Tinsley is as memorable as a dissolvable mint in her mouth, why get so torqued up about her?  Just ignore.

However, and maybe this post will seem like evidence to the contrary, I still want to know where these ladies go, what they do, and how they fightt.  It's far better that BH...there I don't really care.  They are all shtty actors, and that's it.  With these women, I only suspect about 15-20% acting.  BH is about 85-90%

Yes, and that is essentially what Dorinda said to Leah last night - essentially, she was saying that Tinsley "forced" her to be abusive to her. (The whole "she wanted a bitch, she got a bitch" and everything that came before it).

Last year, there was a scene where Dorinda and Hannah were talking about the time right after Richard died, and Hannah alluded to things being bad when they lived in their apartment. And if this is the way that Dorinda behaves on-camera, I can only imagine how much worse it was for Hannah behind closed doors. I think that Dorinda is an emotionally abusive narcissist that blames her victims for her behavior.  It must be very difficult being her daughter.

I wonder what Dorinda’s Mother and Sister think about all of this.  Hmmmmn.

YES! I will never forget early Dorinda. She was always a horrible person. I remember both of those instances. She always treated John badly. I also remember she was yelling at him in a restaurant because he wanted to move in together and she lost it on him. She somewhat hid her love of booze in the beginning. Now she's all out there with it because it's beyond her control now.

I just watched it. Dorinda has no remorse for anything she said or did to Tinsley. She's disgusting. All she said was that everybody had been drinking for 4 hours before the fight. She also said that Ramona needs to fact check her statements because Richard did not go to Harvard, he went to Ohio State then to Yale for his masters degree.  She also said Ramona needs to keep her mouth shut about John because she doesn't talk dirt about Mario. Yes, folks, that is what she was concerned about. The woman will not take any accountability for anything!! Dorinda, delusion is thy name!!

Wow. As with last year's charity event, where Dorinda was acting like she was raised by wolves, when Ramona comes off as the calm and mature one, you know you've lost the fight. But I'm not surprised she doesn't take any responsibility for her bad behavior. Narcissists never think they've done anything wrong.

I know that everyone grieves differently. But Dorinda was married to Richard for 6 years and he has been dead for 9 years. If she can't come to terms with her grief and move forward after 9 years she needs therapy. Yes she will always miss Richard but her alcohol fueled rages are so self destructive. And now she is on the I've grown and my expectations have grown I no longer need John. I would love to know how many times he had to carry her drunken ass out of parties when she lost it on someone.

I'm always hesitant to say anything about her because her grief is so raw and real, and I sympathize with her...to a point. Her "this is not what I thought my life would be, and it's not fair" really explains everything about her. And, yes, that is a terrible realization, and, yes, that is sad, but it is not unusual. That is the story of every woman who has suffered the loss of a spouse through divorce or death and of many women who find themselves struggling financially for a multitude of reasons. Not all of them are bitter. The "not fair" always rubs me the wrong way, as does not having the wherewithal to know it's not an appropriate on-air statement for a wealthy tv star with a successful, stable child and a family support system. Not that she isn't entitled to FEEL that way...just show some perspective on the world and how the majority of people live.

ETA: I certainly don't mean to imply that money could ever compensate for the loss of a loved one. Just that she is fortunate in so many other ways, and it is hard to watch someone who cannot acknowledge that. There is no fair, and no one is deserving of a "perfect" life over anyone else.

Dorinda crying that when Richard died she had nobody, nooooobodyyyy. Umm you had your mother, father, sister and daughter to start with. Stop with your revisionist history. Then with her "I was a good mother, a good wife, I didn't deserve this!" Well, I don't deserve listening to your bullshit anymore.

😂😂😂😍😍😍

Tinsley is the only one who is going to be a wife. She’s got what they want. She gets the last laugh.

I believe they are jealous of Tinsley, though I think it's because she is born into a life they married into and lost once their husband's were gone.

I'll also believe it when I see it, Tinsley and Scott marrying. I don't even know why she'd want to marry someone so unreliable.

i missed this last night because I couldn't find my remote. And I think I'll continue to pass.

I'm a recovering alcoholic and watching this the last couple of week makes me feel like I'm participating in illness.

I've tiptoed around it because part line in AA is that only an alcoholic can diagnose themselves. It's step one, admiting to yourself, your higher power and another person that you're an alcoholic. But these women aren't there.

It's no fun watching people slowly kill themselves and destroy their lives.

I do hope it at least annoys her that everyone in the episode is noting how ridiculous her claims about Tinsley being "invisible" to her are because she's actually obsessed with her.

Tinsley actually tried to make that point but Dorinda was screaming over her. Tinsley can’t win, even when she just sits there and doesn’t say anything Dorinda attacks her. Hell last week she went after her because the second time she wanted Tinsley to fawn of her for inviting her and Leah to lunch Tinsley replied that it was a good idea rather than using the word fantastic.

One doesn't have to like her to see that Dorinda's targeting of her is perverse and wrong. Dorinda, the bully that she is, used the abuser's excuse in last night's episode - a version of "look what she made me do" - because that is who she is.

Oooh, good insight

Why shouldn't we believe that she is a mean, horrible person at heart? What has she shown us that should make me believe she is supposedly the kind, nice person she is obsessed with thinking she is?

She roasted two chickens for everyone .. at once.
