Yes, the ring is given in anticipation of marriage, but the marriage didn't happen, so she needs to return it to Mike.

If Natalie wasn’t so convincing in her grief, I would think this is fake.  I can’t believe TLC went along with going back.  It would have been like torture for Natalie.  Then asking for the ring!  What the hell!  I would have slept in the airport before I would go back again.  Considering she is flying to Europe and seemed unsure as to how to get back to her home, how can she not have her own credit card or some cash??

Brandon  is thick as a plank.   Stupid.  You can have 2 ceremonies that are special.  One doesn't preclude the other.  I do think Julia is correct to be concerned that there is no money for a big wedding and reception.  But Ma Brandon is so into the wedding, that maybe she will make it happen as long as it isn't on a day that is special to her.
