I've been meaning to ask this for multiple episodes (seasons?).  What happened with Dr Bell?  Didn't he used to kill patients because he was no longer capable of doing surgery?

That's ancient history. Bell has morphed into a new man and a good guy although he's not in good graces with the new management (Red Rock).

Doesn’t the doctor who discovered the virus in the dead woman have to inform the US Center for Disease Control?  And even if he doesn’t do so how does Cain expect to hide it once people start getting sick?

Because he's Cain, infallible Cain.

This is likely to be his comeuppance, if it doesn't play out for the rest of the season and become a cliffhanger.

If I were the writers, I'd head to the nearest casino and try my luck.  This superbug storyline had to have been written well in advance of the current virus situation. 

Please let this be the downfall of Cain / Kim.

I have a hard time believing that someone as neurotic and needy as the wife/med student is blood related to the awesome Dr. Kit Voss.  Heaven help any future patients she may have. 

The actress playing Dawn Long had to earn the easiest paycheck of her life for this episode. 

Two episodes in a row of no Mina.  Should I be worried?

Why is Devin moonlighting at the vent facility?

Yeah it's hard to believe that the protocol for that infectious disease thing is just one phone call to the ordering doctor. There should be far more mechanisms in place once the lab guy discovered the infection.

Oh...well this episode came at an unfortunate time. Goddamn, when they had that "in recent of recent events" disclaimer, I was waiting to see if it was related to what's going on now. And then the last five minutes happened.

I'm just confused as to why Cain stopped and did basically nothing once he got to Dawn's room and saw it being cleaned. He saw the guy wheel out the equipment, right? If he knew there was a superbug, he should have stopped him immediately. 

Not a bad episode, but I'm still waiting for Cain and Red Rock to be taken down. It's taking too long. 

Kit's back after several episodes of being absent! And I thoroughly enjoyed her story with her family. I really liked her daughter and I enjoyed their scenes together. 

Bell's TV Doctor storyline is not bad so far, but I fear that it's just the start to another bureaucratic arc for next season (should the series get renewed). So, at the moment, I have it at arm's length.

Based on the quickie preview, Cain is going to try to blame Conrad for the epidemic. 

So because Dawn was kept 'alive' for 6 months, Red Rock is allowed to officially count the 'mother of all surgeries' as a success?

I was expecting when Bell was talking to the soccer team owner on screen that he'd (the owner) have a heart attack or start coughing up blood. Still don't understand why or how Bell can be a full time surgeon and tv star (is the show daily or just weekly?)

Same. I couldn't figure out why he was still on the screen if it wasn't going to lead to drama. I guess a catch phrase was worth it.

I think Bell is not grasping what it takes to be the star of a daily daytime TV show if he thinks he's also going to be in surgery. You've got production meetings, any sort of pre-tapes, all the promo work (and that can be anything from doing v.o. for radio, taping little bumpers for every station that airs your show, photo shoots, interviews to travelling to NYC or LA to appear on other shows) and the actual show which takes more than an hour to tape. I have no idea how he thinks he can do all of that and maintain a regular surgeon's schedule.

I laughed at the superbug not because I don't take it seriously but because it's finally something that Cain can't bully and Kim can't manipulate into submission. As we've all learned, a disease doesn't care if you're a rainmaker or you're good with numbers. It will fuck up your entire life. I care about the other patients and hope they keep them safe (Kit's son-in-law just started chemo so that's not great) but I am looking forward to seeing Cain and Kim get their ass handed to them by a superbug.

Not so sure that Cain/Kim won't be able to maneuver the situation to place the blame on someone else. Like maybe Devon, Nic, Conrad, etc. Or perhaps the facility where the woman was transferred from. His narcissistic personality won't allow him to take blame for this.

I can see Kim placing the blame on Cain because I don't think Kim likes him that much anyway.  In fact, once Cain is gone I can see Kim doing a 180 (kind of like Bell) and actually working with the rest of the staff.

Farfetched, I know, but it's fun to speculate.

He had a hand tremor which has been successfully treated (so far, at least) with medication.

He wanted to figure out how to blame someone else first, i.e., saving his own ass rather than saving anyone's life.

Red Rock owns the vent farm so that doesn’t save Kim. And that vent farm is full of Cain’s patients. Those two assholes can try to wiggle out of this but it’ll come back around to them every time.

Is Bell's tv show a local show? If so, the commitment is a lot lower, especially if they bulk tape a week in a day.

I think they had the scene with the family of the deceased woman to show that they are now all infected. Also Cain was touched by the person on the way out of the room.

I'm not sure if/how Barrett "My Stats!" Cain will cover up that Dawn was patient zero and he was responsible for her.  Even if her death was expected after the Mother of All Surgeries and her long stay at the vent farm, I think they will still do an autopsy, and it'll be performed by Pathology, not Cain.  I'm not sure if Cain can stop an autopsy, or if he would have to convince the oldest surviving daughter of Dawn's to deny one.

I also think Barrett Cain being so so so so insistent with nurse Skyler Day that Dawn's tests be in his name may come back to bite him in the ass, big-time.  When it happened in the episode, it seemed like the only purpose was to keep Devon or any other doctors out of the case, so Dawn could make it past six months.  There was no reason to think at the time it would fit any other narrative purpose.  But maybe he'll try to spin some lies about someone else being responsible, and the paper trail will show otherwise.

And if this is a case of "the cover-up being worse than the crime," he may get caught by trying to change the audit trail.  But oh well, why would anyone care?  Barrett "My Stats!" Cain has amazing stats (in case you didn't know) and has saved the lives of Winston Churchill and Willy Wonka.

I find it hard to believe that someone that neurotic can be in medical school and have a daughter, unless her husband really was her rock. At least she showed some competence by reading the EKG and got over her anxiety to be there for her husband.  It’s good to see Kit again even though she’s getting such a sad storyline.

It was nice to see Austin giving Bell a hard time. Austin has become one of my favorite characters.

Where in the world is Mina? Taking care of her friend’s baby?

So, I think the stats they gave for Kit's son in law were a bit inaccurate - assuming "aggressive B Cell Lymphoma" is DLBCL - then that has something like an 85% survival rate - and it is curable, which is rare for a NHL.

Also, didn't they say they were giving him R-CHOP? It didn't see the red devil on that IV pole!

Uh oh, I wonder if Dr. Cain's virus is going to sweep through the hospital, from the bottom floor up to those luxurious penthouse hospital rooms.

They got at least some of their homework right regarding DLBCL. Mrs. Torqy went through this 8 years ago. Handled R-CHOP chemo well, now Dr. is talking cure instead of remission.

I'm impressed when hospital shows get something at least half-right.

Yeah - 5 years is the cure mark for a good deal of cancers (especially blood cancers)

It'd be nice to see a medical show get a chronic cancer right, though - they usually forget chronic cancers exist.
