All I can do during this show is watch Nonno Gorga and his crazy facial expressions!! 🤪

I still cannot believe that any of them took real offense to Melissa’s comment about Jackie winning because of her frugal nature- it seemed clear to me that she was simply defending her friend who was feeling ganged up on. Defensive much?!?

Teresa basically confirmed what everyone else knew about Juicy. She also confirmed that she will lie about things she doesn’t want to acknowledge.

I can’t imagine having David deliver my baby- his bedside manner must be atrocious because he has NO personality.....

Bingo! Teresa is the queen of denial...she lives in a constant state of denial and spin. And you are so right about David...he seems detached, unemotional and disinterested in anyone but himself. Also, I think he's pretty unattractive and creepy. I would feel real uncomfortable with him as an OB/GYN...eccchhh. He doesn't want to commit to Delores and probably could care less if she leaves him. They don't have a real relationship because David never makes time to do anything with her...she even said so. Her nagging him for a commitment is not going to make him do so...quite the opposite. She thinks she's so smart but apparently she's pretty dumb when it comes to men and relationships.

EXACTLY! Good grief! That was so over the top! And I'm sorry, "little" Frankie at age 21 or 22 going to a high school prom looked absurd. And all the fuss over him from Delores...just stop! We all see how in love you are with your baby boy. Gia has a major crush on him...that was obvious. Not one boy her age from her school asked her to the prom?

Maybe she turned him/them down. A previous poster said that Frankie was 20 at the time of Gia's prom.

I am not really understanding what's so over the top? Different areas do different shit. For example, I don't think this area where the HWs are goes nuts about Homecoming like other parts of the country do.

Look Joe Guidice is a dick. I know it. We all know it. Teresa damn sure knew it. But... I want him back in America to mock Joe Gorga. He seems extra insufferable these last 2 seasons going unchecked by everyone. I like Bill, I get he has to maintain respectability since he has a career but I cringed seeing him shake Joe's hand. He doesn't deserve it.

The petty was flying this episode. Melissa with Jennifer and thenot Marge and Jen competing to connect with Teresa.  Melissa is trying to copy Caroline with a Danielle meeting. Okay.

Gotta cosign every bit of this. Joe Gorga is an unchecked ape these days. At least he's nice to Gia. Glad he stepped up for her, along with Nonno. I do think it speaks VOLUMES that Gia is always thanking Uncle Joe and never has a kind word to say to Melissa. Guess Auntie can't be bothered to make any special effort. She shows up if a camera is there to catch a new outfit.

Melissa can miss me with her tough girl act, especially where Danielle is concerned. She talks a good game but that's a girl with zero street cred.  I don't think she'd have a go at Jennifer, never mind Staub. And let's be real, only someone with a death wish would go at Staub - that one is unstable at best. But, dear friends, lest we forget, Mel OWES Staub - that's how she got on the show.

Only by contacting Danielle and spilling the tea on the Giudice/Gorga feud  did that story ever get out there. Danielle brought all Melissa's lies and venom to the season 2 reunion and then was shown the door to make way for Melissa. As much as Missy owes Tre for her fame, she owes Staub just as much. So for me it's RICH to see Melissa sitting there acting all high and mighty. You didn't just lie down with the pigs, honey, you were banging down their door to get on TV.

So Melissa isn't even at the level of a Caro copycat - Caroline didn't need Staub to get on the show.

Ok so up until last night I really didn’t give a shit either way about Melissa.  Being from New Jersey I see women who look like her every day. Don’t get me wrong, she looks great, but there’s nothing original about her.  However, last night made me really dislike her.  Drumming up unprovoked conflict with Jen at dinner was stupid.  AND THEN, that look she gave when Marge said she didn’t know Jen worked.  Bitch, take a seat.  She hasn’t worked at anything her husband didn’t buy for her since she got married.  That’s cool, but She Is No Better than Jen, Jen just married better than she did and is infinitely more entertaining.  Melissa is boring  and basic.  Fuck Her.

This. As a school employee who has supervised dozens of high school dances, I can tell you that the chaperones would have had extra eyes on him the whole night. We're talking a 20 or 21 year old on the dance floor with 15 year olds? Nope. In fact, many schools have an age limit of 19 for guests. It's especially weird because they aren't even dating. Just go with friends, Gia. Both seem mighty thirsty for camera time.

15? Wasn't this the senior prom?

Well, from what I've seen, many of these girls are very experienced with older guys as well as boys their own age if you know what I mean. So having a 21 year old around is no big deal. As long as he sticks to his date or cheats with the 18 & olders for his own sake! It's not like most of the high school girls these days are innocent virgins.

The asking really could go both ways...Gia  could have asked a young man from her school/church to go, just as well  as she asked Frankie  Jr.

I wonder how much of the prom "date" was for us viewers? Meaning did Frankie Jr go about his way at the actual venue and the real date ( who was probably  just as handsome) takes over. Was there any commentary good or bad, from Gia or Frank Jr, about how the prom or date was - or is that next week ? These 2 moms are quite noisy - I'm sure they want to hear all of the details🍿

Wonder if Gia high school was his former high school.

now- whose son is next to take Gabriella?

Speaking of which Tre said on the bravo video Gabriella was ok NOT going to visit Juicy  because she wants/likes to earn perfect attendance. Hmmm.

I don't get all the fuss about Frankie going to prom.

In June 2019 Frankie was 20 years old and had just finished his sophomore year at Sacred Heart.  Gia was 18 years old, graduating high school and was soon starting her freshman year at Rutgers University.  We know that she thinks he is hot, he thinks she is pretty and that they have hung out socially before.

Frankie turned 21 in October 2019.  Gia turned 19 in January 2020.  There is a 2 year 4 month age difference between the two of them.

Can we please stop acting like Frank is a 37 year old perv escorting Gia to the high school dance?

Yup.  She's a basic bitch.  I've been doing a RHONJ rewatch and I'm early on in season 3.  Melissa was just such a better character in season 3.  And she looked better too.   Perhaps Melissa needs a reminder.  Her mantra early on?  "Be a lady in the parlour, a cook in the kitchen, and a whore in the bedroom."  I've never heard Jen describe herself in such a demeaning way.  Just saying.  Team Jen on this one.

Right. Are there any pictures of them at the actual prom?

And I do agree with schools/ schools systems saying who, by age or non-student  status having a clause as to whom can attend, or how they can attend.

just a quick check on the 1st alphabetical HS in our system -there is a contact nbr at the bottom of form for "further questions":

Teresa did host the prom party for Gia and her friends AND their families.  It was on her IG story at the time.

At least that makes the OTT balloons and party planners less ridicuous than if they were there just for Gia and Frankie.  Gia did look lovely in her prom gown.

A few episodes ago I noticed that the Cadillac insignia was blurred out on a car (maybe Joe G's?).  In this episode Chanel was once again on prominent display, from Jen's daughter to Jackie's large tote.  Now I'm beginning to wonder if there is a product placement deal of some kind.

Exactly!  I don't get the negative comments about this either.  It is less creepy than an 18-19 year old senior attending the prom with a 14-15 year old freshman.

As for Melissa stirring up trouble during dinner...she's been on this show long enough to recognize her story isn't bringing it this season and that Marge and Jen are taking the spotlight away from her.  Her poking at Jen seemed more a ploy to pull attention and create some drama she could star in.  That ridiculous sister who may or may not exist story went nowhere last year as is her pregnancy storyline this season.  Production hasn't been focusing on that boutique much either aside from the fashion show.  Her and Joe G seem to be grasping on by simply shit stirring most of the season.  They can't really go after Teresa much considering what she was dealing with during the time they were filming which was widely reported upon.  Marge knows how to bring it.  She already came out the victor after taking on Siggy and Danielle.  Jen is Housewive gold!  The only one who isn't competition is boring Jackie.

The biggest Yentas on this franchise are the the two on screen Joes  and Frank Senior!

There was a party planner? Teresa was putting produce-department crudites (likely from the nearby Shop-Rite that was such a big deal first came to town in the late '80s!) on the table.

I used to think any time you saw a logo on tv it was a sponsor. I cant picture Chanel paying to be on NJ but maybe. Or in the case of the car Bravo could have another car buying ads so they have to block out a competition logo being shown on screen. Lexus or BMW could be actual advertisers on the network.

As much as I really don't like Danielle I hope she goes out in a blaze of reminding Melissa how Melissa got on the show. Danielle's a nutcase but she knows a lot of shit.

Spoiler

There was a preview on WWHL last night. Melissa was meeting alone with Danielle and Danielle claimed that after puttng Marge's purse in the candle during the boutique incident she was urged to pull Marge's hair by both the boutique owner and Teresa.  She's going to set herself up as such a liar that anything she says will be doubted.

Joe Gorga is ridiculous. He really believes he is the star of this show. Marge is rude. She has a very high opinion of herself. Melissa is dull. Jackie's arms make me want to overeat. They look like matchsticks. Why do I still watch this show?

David always looks so uncomfortable on the show, like he's always holding his breath waiting to be put in a compromising situation or something. Plus he's ugly! (sorry not sorry)  How can Delores stand to kiss him? 😝  I think he's getting a deal on the house from Frank and Frank's encouraging him to marry Delores and get her out of HIS house so he can stay there.  But I think the minute the new house is finished then David announces to Delores that he's just not that into her anymore, thanks for the help on his house... and bye.  We'll probably see her at the Reunion saying yeah, they broke up and she and Frank are still together in their house.

Frankie seems neither mature or to be honest that experienced. He is a coddled momma’s boy going as a friend to a chaperoned event with Gia who is legally in adult. I doubt he was the only 20 or even older person there as a date.

You may be right.  I just had a little light bulb moment the episode he had lunch with the doc and was really pushing for a commitment.  If I'm remembering right, he even said something like,''Then I can get her out of the house or my house" or something like that that made me think he's thinking IF he can unload Delores on some other guy then soft hearted Delores could be talked into letting him keep the house.  That's just the impression I got.  I also think he does whatever the show wants him to do for that Bravo paycheck and sleeping on a twin bed in Delores room would be easy.

But hey, I'm on pain killers for knee surgery so I could have dreamed it!

Just watched.  The Prom?  I thought it was beautiful and on par.  FFS, we had a parade basically and that was tradition for my town, like even from my ma’s days.   It was the the first time I got my nails did, my hair did, and got to go tanning for weeks before.  We went to the florist to get the corsage and boutonnière.  All the families including our neighbors and my dates families came over and took a shit ton of photos.   Then follows us all around.  But, we only had a senior prom. So if ur not a senior you don’t go.  No 15 year olds!

Frankie is a family friend, it’s like taking your cousin to prom.  He’s not creepy and I’m willing to bet he still has close friends at the school where they went to the prom at.  If the families all grew up together it’s not weird.

What if it was a 20 year old college junior asking an 18 year old college freshman to their winter fraternity formal?  Is it the age difference or because it was a college student at a high school dance?

I guess I just don't see it as that odd if they are friends and "in like."  I know plenty of college students who came back to go to prom with their younger graduating high school girlfriends.  Most were a 1 yesr age difference, but the 2 year age difference was there too.  Those same girls went to the senior prom as sophomores in high school.

And why are we assuming that Frankies maturity is at play here?  They are going to a dance.  Socializing with Gia's friends. Eating dinner.   Dancing.  With faculty chaperones.  Then they are either going into NYC to a club or to a prom after party at somebody's home where the parents don't care, before leaving to spend the weekend down the shore, out in the hamptons, or in the poconos somewhere, where other friends of varying ages who did NOT go to prom, will join at a weekend bouse rental.  Tis the Jersey Prom Weekend Way.

I thought Frankie greeting Gia was sweet. He knew the drill, let the girl come down while they all take pics, tell her she looks so pretty , take pics, hold her hand and walk her to the limo.   Nothing about that screamed inappropriate to me.  Not to mention, with all Gia has been through, maybe she just wanted to go to prom with somebody she felt 100% comfortable with.  They have known each other forever.  Dolores has been hanging around since season 1.

God.  Why do I care so much about this?

I go through phases where I just hate Jennifer so much but then she pulls me back in only to lose me again-in one hour. This was one of those episodes. I like her support of her brother & I actually like Bill. It’s a real roller coaster over here.

I took my 20 year old boyfriend to my prom. He was a year ahead of me so he had just finished his freshman year but was 20. We had a lovely time-like we did at his the year before-and he managed not to be a sexual predator to any of my friends.

I think it’s so interesting that the scene of Gia and Frankie going to the prom sparked probably more discussion than anything else, and greatly outweighed discussion of Teresa admitting that Joe cheated on her.  It reminds me of how much discussion Jackie’s birthday party for her sons garnered.

I think it touches on so many things—finances, social norms, relationships, freedom, safety, expectations, traditions, etc.  So everyone has an opinion, rightfully so.

Everyone knows my opinion—I think it’s strange for a 20 year old to be at a prom.  I don’t think it’s indecent.  I don’t think it should be banned.  I just think some things should be just for high school kids, the prom being one of them, although I’m not calling for a formal rule.  People experience things at different ages, and their exposure to certain elements tends to widen with age.

Let’s say half of the students brought a 20+ year old date.  If it’s a high school class of 500, and 400 are going to the prom, that is 200 people in their twenties gathered to party in the same room.  This completely changes the atmosphere.  There Is a higher likelihood of drinking on the way there, because of the access to alcohol. What are the chaperones going to do, strip-search everyone for oxy and tiny bags of coke?  Drugs and sex are just much more normal for people of that age.  Of course high school kids drink alcohol and have sex, but most of them are at a point where their parents can contain it, whereas most 20 year olds are operating outside the authority of their parents.  Gia is 18, yes, she’s technically an adult, but she’s bringing a man to a high school event where very many people who are rightfully there are under 18.  When I graduated from high school, half of the people were 17 and half were 18 (roughly).  And, if there is a senior going out with a sophomore, and he wants to bring her to the prom, there will be 15 year olds there.  I’ve never heard of a senior prom that was relegated to seniors only.  Certainly if Gia can bring a college man, someone else can bring their sophomore boyfriend or girlfriend.  But even operating off the seniors only, I don’t think it’s great atmosphere for 17 year olds to be hanging out with 20 year olds, the way it might be more ok if they went to a baseball game.  With proms, drugs and sex are always in the air, even if not everyone is preoccupied by them.

Just to reverse the situation for a second—when I was 17, a college man took me to a spring formal, followed by a booze cruise, and, while I had a really, really good time, and (hoping my parents don’t read this 😱) I can admit now that I had no business being there.  There was an open bar at the dance, and obviously on the cruise.  Everything was completely different from a prom, because college people are different from high school people, and I’m lucky that the worst thing that happened to me was that I got blackout drunk and someone put me to bed.  And there were chaperones from the school there.  I’m not entirely sure why my parents let me go, but I would make a different choice if it were my theoretical kid—college students belong with college students, high school students belong with high school students, the lines often get blurred, especially in that summer between high school and college, so I understand there are no hard and fast rules.  But maybe that’s even one more reason to let the prom be primarily for high school students.  It will be their last time doing that.

I’m just wondering...does anyone think there should be an upper limit on the age of the person a high school student takes to the prom?  Should a girl be allowed to take her dad? Should a girl (who is 18) be allowed to take a man she is sleeping with who is as old as her dad?  What about the eighth grade dance?  Would it be ok for a 13 year old girl to take a 16 or 17 year old boy as her date?  Is there any limiting principle?  (I am actually interested.  I’m not being rhetorical).

—————————————

Aside from everything I said, I do admit bias.  I don’t like Gia or Frankie, but I especially dislike Frankie.  I don’t like his type.  He is exactly the type of guy who would want to go to a high school prom, which causes me to renew my objection:

I would think a guy that age, even if he turned 20 today and he was 19 yesterday, would tell his girlfriend he’s not interested in going to a prom, and she should go and have a good time.  What college guy wants to go to a prom?  If Frankie likes Gia, I think the classy thing to do would be to very nicely turn down the prom as something for which he is slightly too mature, but he would love to take her out to brunch the next day and look at the pictures and hear all about it.

The type of adult man who wants to go to a prom is Frank Catania (Junior or Senior, take your pick).  A guy whose glory days are behind him, a guy who peaked in high school, so he wants to go back, hoping that all the girls will gush over him and be jealous of Gia, because her date is so “hot,” and he can be the big fish in the small pond for one night before his chariot turns into a pumpkin and the cutthroat real world returns, where life is grim, and, if you’re anything like your dad, you’re headed into a world of white-collar crime, lies, cheating, divorce and disbarment.  Frank Jr going to a prom smacks a little too much like Al Bundy reminiscing about his high school football days.  Move on, bro!

Totally agree with all of this.  I ended up wearing an old bridesmaid dress to my prom as I had just been in my cousin’s wedding, but it was the first time getting my nails, hair makeup, and all that jazz.  We also all met up at my house and took pictures and had a limo.  Frankie is a longtime friend and I see nothing wrong with him taking Gia to prom.  It was over the top, but nothing shocking.

Why do you care so much??? Good question.

I am re-watching this episode, the group just walked in to the restaurant and I caught a glimpse of Tre wearing those awful royal blue shiny blue leggings...oy that walk! It is almost like she does not extend her legs fully, like she is squatting down and walking, just odd.

Oh I forgot about the blue pants!   If you can’t wear shiny blue pants to go out clubbing at the shore, where can you?

They were something....that’s for sure.

Hahahaa, not in my experience--they rank about equal on that front. Plus, if Gia's 18, she can go out with a 65-year-old if she chooses (and sometimes those are immature too).

My experience with my two sons when they were 20 was they wouldn't be caught dead going to a high school prom. They're already pretty ensconced in the social life at college and had zip in common with any high school girls. But that's just my two sons...the whole Frankie /Gia thing was a set up by the moms...let's be honest. And guess what...I really don't care...move on.

What? I haven't been nasty to you and neither have other posters. People are quoting your posts; you didn't need to reply if you "don't care" anymore about the topic of Frankie's age. Meanwhile, because it was part of the episode, the rest of us aren't required to "move on."

As interesting as it was to hear about the burner phone and that Tre admits to knowing about Joe's wandering dick during their time together I wonder how their girls are dealing with this news, this seems very deliberate on Tre's part.

I thought about that too. Teresa said either this episode or the last she doesn't bad mouth him to the girls... but it's all going on tv. They'd be better off having to hear it once behind closed doors. These girls have to go into school after this airs. Teresa doesn't have to suffer in silence but there's a huge gap between keeping it inside and putting it on basic cable at 8pm.

Re: Melissa and Joe Giudice.  Melissa's on some shit for a while now attempting to act like she had some sort've positive relationship with Joe. Joe Gorga's acting like it's new that he never liked Joe. WTF? Tell them rewrites of history  never work.  Joe Gorga started all the physical fights between them then tried to gaslight that JoeGo was the victim. Melissa acted like Joe Guidice was trying to kill Joe Go during hairdye gate when really JoeGo charged at a man he couldn't take down. Guidice didn't do damage and provided the "he's biting my nuts!" Line. Joe Guidice called them Horsey face and Josephine. They DGAF about each other.
