S03.E10: Blake & Kiersten

Recommended Posts

I hope Kendra watches this episode and realizes how much of a horrible person she came off as being. Selfish? Check. Ignorant? Check. No realization that your actions have consequences and can affect people negatively? Check. Horrible dresser? Check.

I just didn't get her anger as well. Telling max to shut up? She's lucky he didn't go off on her and cut the whole interview! She's lucky it wasn't me in his place because the producers would've had to hold me back!

And then there's Blake. Hot dude trolling online like this and so desperate that he fell for her two fake profiles? I have no words! Oh yeah I do: call ME Blake! Lol!

I am so sick of people on this show saying "I made a mistake" when what they do is deliberate, intentional misrepresentation of who they are. Anyway...

Blake is another example of the fact that no matter how successful and together you might think someone is, underneath they may be a gullible, needy fool. I think he was so fixated on that original blonde Sara (whose unglossed collagen lips will certainly appear in my nightmares) that no matter what truth he found out along the way, he hoped that at the end of the line would be another "hot" blue-eyed blonde. I can't feel sorry for a victim of his own delusion. As for Kendra, I think she's a straight up lunatic.

One thing I found annoying about this episode was the constant recapping. It really wasn't that hard to understand Kiersten wasn't Sara Grace and Kendra wasn't the other brunette, but I felt like Nev repeated it after every commercial break.

Did Kendra really have a son? And was he actually sick and possibly being admitted to the hospital? I kept thinking that she was using that as a ploy to gain sympathy. Though maybe I am just a horrible person for thinking that. I hope that was actually Kendra's sense of style, because I thought she styled herself to look like the pictures she stole from the second girl (forgot her name).

I think he was so fixated on that original blonde Sara (whose unglossed collagen lips will certainly appear in my nightmares) that no matter what truth he found out along the way, he hoped that at the end of the line would be another "hot" blue-eyed blonde.

Those lips will be in my nightmares too. For some reason Blake being in contact with Sara Grace made me laugh and roll my eyes. Of course he is.

Right?? I mean, I kind of found it interesting because it's usually some dude falling for pictures of a girl way out of his league looks wise, but this guy was seriously good-looking and, from the sounds of it, professionally successful and could easily get a beautiful woman in real life if he wanted.

But seriously- if it doesn't stop being a fat chick at the end 99% of the time it's a female catfish, I'm going to lose interest. Like someone said on some forum either here or over at TWOP, the show should just be called "Fat People Are Evil" or something.

ETA: And yeah, about the sick son in the hospital...lady, if you are honestly filming a Catfish episode instead of being with your child when he's being admitted to the hospital, you need to check your priority list.

I'm about as positive as I can be there was no sick son "being admitted to the hospital right now."  I mean, as she was rushing out to go to the "hospital," she stopped to talk to Blake and force him into a hug?  No way, no how.  It was more manipulation and it was disgusting.

Every time anyone questioned her actions, she fell back on, "You're being mean to me during this difficult time with my sick son."  I just wanted to smack her.

As soon as we heard Kendra's voice on the phone I had a pretty good idea of what she was going to look like (and act like) in person.

Sadly, my suspicions were confirmed. I felt like she sounded mean, if that makes sense, and sure enough. I also don't believe her son was 'sick' and 'going into the hospital' -- I actually doubt she had a son at all. We never saw any pictures or video of him, did we? Or any concrete proof of his existence?

Everyone who was surprised when a fat woman showed up yell ME! Hello? anybody there? I hear crickets. Yeah, I knew she was going to be fat, & for wearing that 1980s Olivia Newton John headband (twice!) she should be shunned from society. Oh, I also loved how Blake was all "I want to see if we can work it out" even after she lied about who she was twice, but as soon as he saw what she looked like, it became "you lied to me! you're the lyingest liar who ever lied!" (even though she is)

Those lips! they were terrifying, I'm surprised that she let herself be shown on TV with absolutely no makeup on, but I give her props for it. When they first showed her pictures & said she was a model, my first thought was "for porn?" because with that bleached out hair & her 3 tons of makeup, she looked more like a porn star than model to me. But of course, who is Blake now talking with? The girl whose looks he likes, not the one who he supposedly wanted to try to make it work.

Wow, Kendra was so incredibly blase and blame-shifting about this whole thing. "People make mistakes every day"? Really? Yea, sometimes I burn the dinner or forget to put the trash on the curb or go the wrong way on the freeway. Those are mistakes. Intentionally deceiving someone over and over, to the point that you can't even keep your own lies straight, for months on end isn't just an "ooopsie".

Good on Blake for continuing not to believe her. What was that crap about making fake profiles to give out to guys at the club who may be creeps? Who hands out social network profiles anyhow? Is that a thing now? Don't people just give out their numbers? That sounded fishy to me. I suspected she was lying about having a son as well. No one questioned it, but what kind of mother leaves a kid who is so sick that he might be admitted to the hospital, to appear on a tv show??? I just bet she made the entire "sick kid" thing up as a way to garner attention and also make excuses for why she can't meet up with the people she's catfishing.

And, yes, I said "people" because I highly suspect she's doing this to others. I didn't believe for one second her contrition to Nev and Max during the update, that she was going to stop "being bad". Please. The entire time she was more interested in blaming Blake for bringing the situation on tv than accepting responsibility for fucking with someone's life. She's a hot mess.

How interesting that Blake is now talking to the real girl from the pictures! That would be kind of unique, funny story to share if they ended up together. Also, Blake = Peter Facinelli.

I just didn't get her anger as well. Telling max to shut up? She's lucky he didn't go off on her and cut the whole interview! She's lucky it wasn't me in his place because the producers would've had to hold me back!

She was so incredibly rude! What was the bit about calling Max and Nev "Oprah and Gayle"? She was a real piece of work.

I noticed that the "porn" look was just in the pictures the producers used to lead off with and go back to later as a reminder of who Kendra was pretending to be. Most of her pictures were more normal.

When Blake saw Kendra you could practically see a "OMG, she's huge" thought bubble. I gather he doesn't watch the show, or he wouldn't have been so surprised, or such a douche.

The real twist here is Blake.  This guy is good looking, likeable, intelligent with an ambitious career.  Definitely not the typical loser troll that is on Catfish.  Definitely someone I can see the real Sara Grace clicking with.

Then this is fat, ugly Kendra.  Physically unappealing with a horrible disposition and personality.  She continued with her lies when she said that Blake wasn't someone she wanted in her life.  Whereas the truth is, he dumped her.  No way would someone like him want anything to do with this lying, manipulative elephant.  So glad Blake, Max called her for what she really is.

Shenanigans surround a 'lost' episode from last fall that forms the first half of Catfish's 'two-part season finale' of totally unrelated episode.

http://previously.tv/catfish/why-doesnt-mtv-want-you-to-see-the-story-of-blake-and-kiersten/"> Read the story

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who thought "porn star" when they first saw Sara Grace. Instead of getting pissed off, maybe she should think about the fact that the first thing they think of when they see her pictures is that she's in porn, & possibly get herself another look.

I wonder what the problem was with this episode, I remember wondering why Nev was on crutches at one point, but stopped thinking about it, so I didn't connect the fact that it happened last year. I wonder if "Kendra" (if that really is her real name, I'm not sure at this point) blocked it?

They all say that they've made a mistake. Except for the Catfish Queen Carmen.  This was a great episode. I felt bad for everyone who was Catfished. Kendra was a bitch. She cared more about the episode than her sick son. I bet that was made up BS!

By "sports firm" I presume Kendra meant something like Sports Authority or Dick's.

When Kendra said she took over a fake profile that somebody else created, did she mean that she had someone else create it for her?

The Twitter meltdown by the woman claiming to be Sara Grace's sister was EPIC, especially for someone who is apparently an optometrist. Way to look professional to literally anyone who googles your name. Of Note: Apparently, the porn star look is a family trait.

How has nobody mentioned the Eyebrows on Sarah Ordo? Oh, for all that is holy, those EYEBROWS were insane!!!

I think Kendra wore the headband & fake eyelashes so maybe they would think the photos of Sarah were actually her....about 100 pounds ago.

I looked up Sarah Grace's sister on LinkedIn. Her "professional" picture looks as stripperish as her Twitter profile picture.

When Nev and Max land in Houston, they show a Texas flag where the star is "blued out". Why would they feel like they needed to do that? Weird.

Blake looks like Emilio Estevez.

An interesting twist on yet another angry, stampeding obese woman. I'm sorry, but they could have stretched this episode into two. I'm sure that they didn't even scratch the surface of all of the cons this crazy elephant was running on countless other stupid dudes who really should have known better.

And why was she wearing a belt around her head?

I looked the sister's Twitter and she is hilariously dumb. My favorite is when she asks for everyone's favorite planet, hers is the sun. Of course it is. And then her 6th grade science teacher face-palmed himself for the failure to teach this gifted student the difference between a star and a planet.

Not to defend her, but that might be a quote from the Will Ferrell Harry Caray sketch from SNL a million years ago.

Kind of a much less hot Emilio Estevez with pretty bad skin.  Bad skin at that age is not the end of the world and will improve with time, but probably one of the reasons he felt "shy" about meeting girls in real life.  As for Kendra, she is one of the least likeable catfish we've ever seen on the show..

I understand Kendra's motivation to catfish. She's an obese miserable person who probably lives at home with her parents  and goes to her job at Foot Locker every day. What I don't understand is Blake. Dude was good looking, not obese, and seemed to have a good career. Why meet women online? He must be a huge introvert with self esteem issues.

Loved that "Kendra" (I'm not even sure that is her name) kept lying and making up stupid stories even when confronted. She must have know that Sara Grace was in Florida, so how could they have possibly gone to parties together? I seriously doubt there was a son. Her dad texted her to make sure she was ok, not to update her about her fake son.

I guess I just don't understand the whole social media thing. Who "friends" people they don't know? Both Saras let her into their profile without knowing her in person. Why? Unless you are a celebrity and use your profiles as a way to build a fanbase, what's the point? You run the risk of people creeping on your pictures and personal info. It makes no sense.

I do wonder what compelled her to wear a headband for the meet up. The look on Blake's face  when he saw her was priceless

Oh, wow, I thought the exact same thing!

When she came sauntering up in her headband and that eye makeup, I was thinking, "Do you seriously think they're going to believe that was really YOU in those pictures?"  Even despite the vast weight difference, there wasn't even really any resemblance but, yeah, I seriously thought she worked that look on purpose thinking she could fool everyone.  Which would make her even more delusional than she clearly was.

I think this chick was a whole basket full of crazy.  The looks on Blake's face when he first saw her and as she kept trying to spoon-feed him a bunch of lies were just awesome.

And I agree with those above who said those overinflated lips on Sara Grace were nightmare-inducing.  I'll never comprehend what makes people inflict such grotesqueness upon themselves.   *shudder*

I couldn't remember her eyebrows (which are pretty fierce) so I Googled her image. I can't be the only one who thinks she looks like Boy George's twin sister

I'm disappointed by the number of people confusing Kendra's weight with a personality trait. There's no need to hate on a chick because she's fat. You can hate her because she's a deeply unpleasant pathological liar. And you don't have to sympathize with Blake because he is good looking. He's clearly a gullible, shallow loser. Good genes don't equal human value. His "huge mistake" face was so transparent and shitty that I nearly punched my TV.

Also sidebar. I love Tara, but I am always sad when a grown woman feels the need to make catty mean-girl remarks about peoples' appearances, whether it's their lip injections or their questionable fashion sense.

Also, the item on the bucket list about Max holding a big boy camera can be crossed off now.

What I just don't understand is since the show is reverse engineered, that would mean that KENDRA called producers to have her lies exposed on national television. She wasn't tricked or deceived into signing a waiver or unaware of the premise of the show since she called them, right? For what? I wondered the same thing during the Kidd Cole episode. Some of them like Antoinette/Albert just wanted free publicity, some wanted revenge like Antwane/Tony/Carmen, and some were just bored like that John/Kelsey ep. Kendra just willingly elected herself to public humiliation.

SO. BIZARRE.

Is this episode not available? My tv broke(ugh) So I've been watching Catfish on MTV's site but I don't see the episode uploaded on their site. iTunes, Amazon Prime, nor my cable provider has this on demand anywhere. Was this a one time only showing or something?

It's not fat hate, it's a women using fat as an excuse for horrible behavior. It's no different than a person taking any other physical characteristic of themselves (very short, a big nose, bad skin) and basing their behavior on the defense of it.

"I'm really short, and was always picked on".  "I have huge ears, so I was always teased".   "I have a lazy eye, so people made fun of me".

Lots of people have negative attributes, but don't lie and hurt other people because of it.

I hear that, and I try not to comment on the aspects of people's appearance they can't help. REALLY excessive lip injections and dumb headbands are affirmative choices people make and, to me, don't fall into that category.

I think they said that it's common for episodes to actually be initiated by the catfish, but that it isn't always the case, so maybe this was one where the person being catfished was actually the one to contact the show - I even wonder if it might have been one of the Sarahs.  Like, I'm sure this is overthinking it, but what if Blake and Sarah Grace had actually been in contact *before* the episode aired after realizing they were being catfished by the same girl, and one or both of them was the one to make contact with the show.

I presumed that was her prearranged escape hatch, like some people set up when they're going on a date they're not sure of (or used to; it's such a well-known ploy, I don't know if anyone still does it).

He's an "entrepreneur". He's spending all his time trying to get rich at the expense of going out and meeting anyone.

The most interesting part of the episode to me was that Sara Grace was so flattered by a random person and her niece that she went to the trouble of doing whatever they asked her to, in this case taking that picture with a paper that said "Kiersten." Am I just too suspicious, or would anyone else be really confused/creeped out by that? The show is based on gullible people really, but somehow I am always shocked by the level of naivete and how casually it is accepted.

Right? How highly do you have to think of yourself to not be weirded out by some random asking for a picture of you?

I can't imagine anyone but an obnoxious Kim K saying "of course you want my pic, I mean just look at me!"

But people have different levels of security/insecurity. While one person with a big nose who constantly gets picked on because of it, but has a lot of self-confidence or a strong support system so it doesn't bother them, another person with the same issues might be much more affected by it for lots of reasons, and then act out based on their feelings, and their experience with the issue. I'm not excusing bad behavior at all, I just see where it's coming from, even if it's not how everybody acts.

I assumed this too.  She had someone text her at a certain time so she could pretend it was about her fake son for sympathy or as a reason to get out of there.  There's no way that kid was real. She changed the story on him so many times, that he was just sick, then that he was being admitted to the hospital, then that he was in the hospital.  Most mothers of real boys would be at home/the doctor's/the hospital with their sick son instead of filming for MTV.

The first time she mentioned that he was sick, I turned to my DH and said "let me guess, he has Leukemia" since that seems to be the go-to disease for Catfishers to give their pretend family and friends.

I had to turn it off after I heard Kendra "Friends don't do this to their friends."

I would've walked away from that bitch the second she tried to pull some shit like that on me.  Her need to be the victim would've been enough to end a relationship with her.  Regardless of Blake's reaction to her in the beginning there was enough there for me to sympathize with him and his choice never to speak to her again.

Bullies don't generally pick on someone because of a physical characteristic. They use the physical characteristic as ammunition to get at someone they want to pick on. If their initial guess at what might work doesn't, they move on to something else (physical assault when all else fails).
