And it is possible the students are using the prep class to try out for something else. Good dancing, learning new choreo fast, and practicing is a great opportunity , regardless if it for the DCC.  The class held at the Star facilities beats going to Friday night Zoomba held at the rec center.

Do the prep classes teach the jump split? There was a HS dance troop from CA/TX? on the Kelly Clarkson   show recently who finished their routine with the jump split. I am glad to see the challenging advanced move has made its way down to the HS level.

 

I've actually seen a few HS dance teams doing them over the years...but what I see most are the dancers coming from the competition focused dance centers doing it.  The past competition for UDA (HS level) the jump splits these girls do are amazing...better the what the DCC do.  I have several friends with daughters on dance teams so they had tons of videos posted.  My 13 year old niece does jump splits in a group routine they do.

Julie doesn't stand a chance....................after the bombed Media training, her bad reaction to it and the F bomb.  It's not happening.

I'd love to see her confronted in interviews.  I believe she would sink herself again.

And yes she's outdanced by Sarah.  Besides her media flub, I thought Julie was getting outdanced by the time she was cut.

Julia looks better than I’ve ever seen her in the past.  I am sure Sarah is helping her and encouraging her to audition again (Julia has always been Sarah's favorite).  She is on the new Mavericks Dance team that will be performing at their first game in March.

Returning vets--I'm definitely #teamChandi. Chandi may not have the most power yet, but she dances clean, she's consistent, has long legs, gorgeous eyes and smile, and I think she has tremendous potential to advance on this squad. Plus, she gets extra points from me for doing strength training to tone up. If you follow her IG, you can see how solid she trains every week.

Gina--If she tries out again, I hope she's mastered using hair products to combat the sweat during practices.

Julia, Malena--I hope neither tries out again. Ugh. I've never been a Julia fan. Malena is drop dead gorgeous, but her head takes her out of the game.

Bret from Utah--I like her but she needs to loosen up. She's not rigid like Ashley Paige from S08 (remember that waddle and her cringe-worthy talking head interviews??). But Bret's stiff when she dances and stiff when she talks. She needs to flow and she needs to shine. If she loves to dance, I want to see the joy.

Katy from UCLA--If she tries out again I hope she's tightened her midsection. I know Charm LaDonna kind of excused her, saying, "School, life." But everyone has to deal with life, many DCC have school, and others showed up to auditions lean and mean.

Brianna Wilhere--One of the most classic beauties to ever set foot in The Star. I would love to see her try out again, but only if she wants it.

None of the hopefuls named on this thread strike me so far.

There's a dancer at OU I'd recruit for tryouts: Elle Owen (IG >> el.marie.2). She masters Michelle Keys' choreography, and she has a healthy, all American look.

DCC judges--I'm a big Melissa Rycroft fan, so definitely want to see her again this season. No to anyone from Access Hollywood or the like. Hoping Kelli's Anthony Ramos fascination is over for good. I'd like to see Charm LaDonna return this season. I'd pass on Neil McCoy. I don't know that he understands the organization well enough to choose anything but what he considers smoking hot sexy.

DCC dance assistants--I know I said "over my dead body" to Jenn Amburn eventually replacing Judy; Jenn always came across to me as kind of snooty. But after watching past seasons more (thanks to the cruel person on this site to alerted me to Pluto TV, ha), Jenn has grown on me. I can see why Judy has named her her "right hand man."

I amazingly agree with you on all of your observations minus Jenn Amburn. Since I haven’t had the opportunity to watch Pluto TV, Jennifer has not succeeded in changing my opinion on her.

I love Elle Owen already and she sure has a fresh look that could easily be glammed up! Two thumbs up!

I am happy to report that Katy from UCLA did exactly what Charm said she would do and she toned up. She has what it takes!

I also keep on hoping on the return of Brianna from New Jersey! That would be the stuff that dreams are made of! Back as a woman of the world, and as a DCC better than Nicole Hamilton!

Let us not forget the multiple WTFs that came out of her mouth and caught by CMT cameras. Although, had I been a TCC, I would have been caught as many times 😂 I thought she was a good dancer, but to quote HRM of DCC, she ain’t “game” ready because this team is literally 50% talent and 51% the culture. No, I’m an accountant so I know the math is right 😜 If she were to come back, she better be prepared to talk her way into the team. 

Regarding people posting pre-audition videos, can we just help them and cut them now? Or encourage in a toxic way and watch the meltdown on CMT. I almost want to take some of the clunky no’s now and be like, girl. Look at this video of *your fave DCC*. Look at your video. No. NO. Take another year WITH classes.

Agreed on most of these assessments. The only one one here who’s really captured my attention has been Ryan Wayne but she’s apparently moved to NY so I guess she’s not auditioning. Maybe she’ll surprise us?

Girl, ain’t no shame in being a lil salty. We sit through SO many disasters every year (and so do the judges!) that I would honestly love to have a more rigorous vetting process before prelims. You would think the rise of social media would make it more obvious to some of these girls that they’re not ready.

Found some more potentials if anyone else is feeling speculative, including a few current DCC siblings? I had no idea so many of these girls had sisters coming up behind them. 

Anna Kate Sundvold (annakatesundvold) - Caroline’s lil sis, cheers for TCU, and recently spotted at prep class with big sister courtesy of a video from Dad last week. Still in college, so maybe not ready to audition this year, but definitely a possibility for the future. 

Morgan Peterson (morganpetersonnn) - Alexis’s younger sister, has attended several Cowboys events but haven’t video of her at a class yet. Second year in SFA pom squad, so again, not likely this year, but possible. 

Megan Franc (meganfranc_) and Emma Vega (emmav3ga) - Cavs dancers that traveled to Dallas for prep class last week and posted a story with the “I wanna be a cowboy, baby” part of the DCC theme song playing. Kinda obvious they’re interested, we’ll see how it goes for them. I wasn’t impressed by the video, you can find it in Megan’s archive labeled “Prep”

Anyone else find promising candidates? I feel like we might be totally surprised by who ends up in finals this year. I’m not seeing the fire in most of these girls.

So far, she's the biggest stand out for me.  Not much of a pool to choose from this year....yet.  Maybe with so few retiring, the best hopefuls are going to wait until several leave 😛

Yeah, she was in my first big roundup post when this thread started! I like her, but she's not as clean as I'd like her to be? Hopefully that continues to improve as she takes class - she's been at almost all of them! I feel like she's at the point where she'll make finals, and maybe TCC if there's enough space. But idk. She's not a big WOW for me.

Yes, and that girl next door quality is something that's been somewhat lacking on the squad for a few years now. I don't know if the show is to blame, but the organization needs to do some soul searching and actively recruit the brand of young women they want to see on the squad. I'm tired of seeing bolt on boobs, lip fillers, and nose jobs.

Raven is on the new Dallas Dancers team and she is thinking about auditioning again for DCC.  She was the girl who was late to DCC auditions last year and got cut.  DCC Tara is also on the new team.
