Having said that, 13 minutes in and I already loathe Gina for the way she treats her wife, and forcing her to pick up food from a restaurant. She's even too lazy to call in herself and demands that Beth do it... not only for her but for all the hungry elephants on the house... despite Beth's willingness to come home and slave at the stove to cook for them.

And Gina's mom has the audacity to trash talk Beth behind her back and complain that Beth isn't treating Gina well???

Aaaarrrrgggghhhhh

This all pissed me off, too, but I was also frustrated the Beth not only gave in to avoid conflict all the time but often did so in a fake chirpy voice like she was happy to help. I hope Lola is helping her with boundaries.

“Carolina Girl:

That scene in the beginning where Beth, who had worked all day, was ordered to pick up food for the human mountain range (and apparently also the boyfriend that showed up conveniently at dinner time) and wanted to just come home and cook really pissed me off.  Snotted at by Gina when she asked if the lazy mound of fat could call ahead.  NO YOU CALL!  Because apparently dialing the number would take too much out of that sow.

And then her mother saying "you shouldn't be treated that way."  What the ever loving FUCK??  I turned it off at that point.  I knew it was going to be one of those "I'm doing everything (chomp) I (chomp) can! (chomp).

I hope Beth finds someone who appreciates her and divorces that worthless sack of shit.  Anyone have a Twitter address for her? “

Why couldn’t someone else gone to the diner and picked up dinner? I did not see anyone say thank you to Beth when she brought in the food or offer her any money towards their meal.  In my opinion, Beth seemed beaten down or depressed.  Beth has the patience of Job and she deserves a lot better than Gina.

And, jeez, I can't (and to be clear, do not want to) imagine the smell coming from a woman who eats nothing but massive amounts of junk food every day and, I assume, is still menstruating if she only bathes  washes herself with a rag on a stick once a month because she's forced to!! Ye Gods! Then she complains that Beth refuses to have sex with her!

Ugh! I can't imagine it and don't want to try. I'm surprised Beth doesn't have her own apartment just to get away from the smell. Why would you in God's name want to have sex with that??

I bet that new mattress was stanky within a few weeks.

After watching years of this show, I now avoid all hotels I have seen on these shows. I will only stay in a place I know they would never be able to afford or comped for them.   Even in the nice hotels I will spray Lysol until the can is empty.

Another part of the show that now is like fingernails on a blackboard to me is the sound of the extra large paper bag coming out of the drive-thru window.   It makes me stabby.

I’m trying to figure out why they had her admitted to the hospital and IVed up and everything BEFORE he weighed her? A waste of time and resources. Some poor orderly has to sanitize that cubicle now.

As noted, Beth was pretty big, but when she was seated next to Gina at the Dr Now’s, the size disparity was shocking. Gina is IMMENSE.

Having had surgery last year, you are admitted, they do the IV and get you all set and then you wait..... It took about a half hour until I was brought down to pre-op and saw the Doctor and the rest of the team.

Yes, Beth was big but she looked dainty next to Gina.

Hell, has no one in NJ ever heard of GrubHub or UberEats? It's not like getting a food delivery is that hard.

My guess is that they don't want anyone to know how much everyone in that household is eating. By having Beth do all the ordering and delivery, Gina and her kin can avoid having their faces and names linked to the mountains of food poor Beth lugs home. Seeing Gina pile three (THREE!!!!) takeout containers on her vast belly and start shoving food into her mouth with barely a "hello" to her wife just shows how absolutely a troll she is. I don't blame Beth for holding onto some resentments over having to do everything for that waste of skin and organs.

They are all assholes, sitting around no offering to help cook or get the food. They didn't even greet her or say thank you. They just sat on their asses waiting for the peasant to bring them food. Cue to mom waxing on about how horribly Gina is treated by the long suffering Beth. Really? Beth is a modern day house servant. I hate to say this but I wonder how abusive daddy really was if momma is in tears about Gina being annoyed.

Tuckerton is the next county south of me and it’s a whole different world down there!

I live about an hour north and it's gotten so crowded here (and I'm not even in "North" Jersey). There were tons of cornfields around my neighborhood when I was a kid and they're all McMansions now. I have a friend down in the general vicinity of Tuckerton and driving there, once I get past Great Adventure, it's just a whole different landscape. Long stretches of almost nothing but road and woods and little traffic. (Other than worrying about deer, I really enjoy the drive, at least during the day. It's a little scary at night because it's so dark and isolated.)

We might be neighbors! I'm in a Monmouth County shore town and I know what you mean about it being desolate when you get down in the Pine Barrens. Nothing but marshes, sand, pitch pine and scrub oak. It is hauntingly beautiful, but you couldn't pay me to live there. You can understand why the legend of the Jersey Devil originated in the area. But it is much more affordable and way less crowded than areas farther north and west, so that attracts people.

I'm sad that both Jersey participants on the show, Robert who died during filming, and now Gina were both failures. Jersey gets a bad enough "rap" on TV.

I never had the feeling that she had hit rock bottom. She could walk, she wasn't really in THAT much pain. She never gave an actual reason why she needed to do this. The "saving my life" is years off. She will die at 48 not at 29. She doesn't have horrid lymphodemas. She seemed downright proud of being declared disabled at 18 and becoming a breadwinner (bread eater). There was just not enough motivation for her to change. I know Dr. Now has used the phrase: you want to keep doing what you have always done. And that was so true. But what really bugged is she had this lying phony voice full of platitudes that she would spurt out at Dr. Now. It was not the real her AT ALL. He saw right through it of course. The Scale doesn't lie. It was hilarious the way she would read the script: I've done EVERYTHING possible and I've worked SO hard. When her goal of 50 pounds in 2 munt, if she had done the actual diet she would have lost 70 pound in 2 munt and Dr. Now knows this. That is why 23 pounds is cheating, lots of cheating. Losing 5 pounds is your morning shit/being good fr 3 days before your appointment hoping to "trick" the scale.

In ten or fifteen years she'll be like all the other pathetic creeps we see on this clusterfuck. She'll have lymphodemas, and arthritis, and heart problems, and type 2 diabetes. And she'll fail then too, because she does not want to change.

lol, I went to Dunkin this morning. (I don't usually but I watched Tuesday's This Is Us last night and there were so many donuts in the episode. That combined with a gift card I got for Christmas* and, well... (But I got two glazed donuts, which, calorie-wise, are probably one of the safer choices, not two dozen.)

*I just used it once last week, and I've decided I can use it once a week until it's gone. It's only ten bucks, and two donuts is $2.32.

I think the difference is that the apartment bathroom had a tub or shower, and the bathroom where she lived in NJ was a half-bath with no tub or shower.

The Jersey house appeared to be a townhouse and she lived only on the first floor where there was a half bath and two couches for sleeping in the living room. The full bathroom would have been upstairs. In Houston, everything was on one level.

By the way, I randomly started following her channel about a year ago (it came up in my suggestions and she SEEMED like a nice person) and her YT weight loss journey was every bit of a failure as her M600LL journey was. She deleted all of those videos and left this one up. She actually had more recent videos posted but they're all gone now, too. From what I could tell, she hadn't lost any weight on the more recent ones.

I noticed she was moving pretty well while on the diet even though she either didn't lose or gained.  She didn't move because she didn't want to.  I cannot imagine the stink in that house.

I'm over their sad stories that resulted in them being overweight.  She says she was abused but by her dad but it seems like the worst of the abuse was her mom and dad allowing her to grow to 500 pounds by the age of 19.  Someone was over feeding her since she was a child.  I can't imagine being disabled at age 19 due to just being FAT.  That is the stupidest reason to qualify for disability when you have so much life ahead of you.

It's too late for this season but I want to see some people who are angry at their abusers and want to get fit to go back and kick their asses.  And only after the ass kicking can they tell us why.

Her mother was awful.  Saying she cannot believe Beth treated her that way when she didn't want to stop for food but was willing to cook.  Eff that noise.  Both Gina and her mother are the same person, years apart.  I didn't like them at all.

Ok, I'm going to be a lot more generous to Gina than she deserves. I totally get that things are hard for her to do physically. When you're that big, standing for any real length of time can be a real struggle. And I wouldn't be surprised if she's got anxiety/depression issues due primarily to her weight. That can make things a vicious cycle that it's hard to pull out of.

Having said that, she is still 100% responsible for the situation that she's in. She had total control over making changes that she needs to make. Being completely incapable of telling herself "no" or being willing to tolerate being uncomfortable (physically or emotionally) for even a few minutes is totally on her. This isn't an easy thing to do, and the bigger you are, the harder it is. But Gina apparently expected everyone else to do all the heavy lifting (no pun intended) for her. She was completely unwilling to do any of the work herself. It's the same weakness that we see in all of the people who fail out of Dr. Now's program.

I lost track of how many times Gina blathered on about how hard something was for her, or how she was putting too much stress on her body or how she just "couldn't do it," while footage played of her sitting in a chair, being waited on.

The editors were particularly savage this episode.

Also, Gina was thoroughly unlikable.

I find it suspicious that Gina and Beth married so quickly. Gina was on the hunt for a caregiver with low self esteem and found one. I suspect she only revealed her true nature once they were married.

While I don’t totally disagree, it’s also kind of a lesbian thing, perhaps. There’s a reason for the joke of what does a lesbian bring on a second date? (A: a u-haul.)

Beth could use some self-esteem. Also, it seemed that by the episode end, she’d lost some weight. (Insert obligatory: and Gina found it.)

My guess is that everything we saw from Gina, and her entire family was a lie.    I bet the downstairs 'bath' once a month was just for the camera.   No one seemed to recoil from Gina through the filming, and a once a month bath would be a total stench surrounding the person.     I don't think anything but Dr. Now's office and hospital visits were real.    I think it was all a ploy to get on TV, and lead to other things.   There is no way that Gina filmed the video in June 2019, and then staggered around on the episode.

I doubt every single thing she said, and everything Beth, and her family said.

I'm wondering what the Bonus Scenes for Friday's Supersized episode will be.   Typically this season they've show massive amounts of drive thru visits, but they showed at least some last night.  So I wonder what's left to show?

About genetic obesity, years ago I worked with a woman who was healthy, but a little on the thin side, to help with her arthritis.    She ate very healthy, and maintained her weight.   She walked a lot, and ate well.   When I saw pictures of her Mom, and siblings I was shocked, because they were all huge (Not Dr. Now show huge, but big).   I don't know if it was genetic, or if it was how they all ate in her family, but keeping a healthy weight can be done, but it's difficult.

/sigh

In the first 5-10 minutes I told my husband, "There is no way this one will succeed." From the victim mentality ("Oh poor me, my mom paid more attention to my sister!") to the morbidly obese family (ALL of them) to the disgusting behavior towards her wife (that her even-more-disgusting mother fully endorsed and encouraged) - I just knew. There is no hope for her.

God, I hate saying that. As horrible as she seems to be as a human being, she is still a human being. She learned this behavior from her shitty parents. But she has no drive to change. She seemed happy to be on government assistance. Happy that she had someone to boss around and buy her food. Happy to be eating whatever and whenever with no regard for her body. To hear someone like this say that eating is the "only thing that makes her happy" is so perverse. Does she seriously think that feeling is happiness? Seriously?

I 100% disagree that this is genetic. It's environmental. I don't believe that obesity is genetic at all. I believe we are all genetically different and some of us are bigger with a propensity to gain faster and lose slower. But obesity is not natural and therefore, IMO, not genetic. The human body doesn't want to be obese (or underweight) - it craves balance, nutrition, movement and sleep. The human mind, on the other hand, creates a shit-show of problems if you let it.

Yep. I came here to say I am convinced Gina is suffering from an undiagnosed/untreated anxiety disorder she's self-medicating with food. It doesn't look like she exhibited any symptoms during her appointments with Dr. Nowzardan or Lola, so I don't think either of them are aware an anxiety disorder may be an issue relating to Gina's weight.

I do agree Gina is a horrible person. An anxiety disorder doesn't cause someone to treat others the way Gina does.

But if I'm right about her, being diagnosed and having access to the right therapy (which might include medication) could mean the difference between Gina dying in her 40's due to medical issues relating to being morbidly obese, and Gina being able to successfully lose enough weight to qualify for WLS and eventually get down to a normal, healthy, weight.

The other thing that was hilarious is that she was trying to tell Dr. Now that she ate like a bird. Saying "I can't finish the 400 calorie meal in one sitting so I eat 250 of it and put the the 150 calories away and snack on it later." Yeah, you get too full because you are so petite.  Now if that were true, she would have lost weight and more than the amount on her goal. If you eat exactly 1200 calories a day, and weigh 600 pounds, it really doesn't matter how many times a day you eat, you will lose if its 200 calories in 6 meals. But 2000 calories in 6 meals, no.

We have to remember Dr. Now is dealing with all these clowns simultaneously, He probably just got off the phone with Bethany, who didn't get her magic solution. He didn't require her to lose enough before he approved her for surgery. There was another one that didn't quite make the goal but he approved her anyway, which I am sure he regrets. If you do the diet, you will surpass the goal! Not making the goal should be a red flag that there is cheating going on. if 50 pounds is 44 pounds, you cheated cause if you stuck to it you would have lost 65.

She is the first one to have surgery cancelled. Both JT and Bethany, after losing for only one segment and after continual failures, managed to lose more over 2 months with the promise of surgery at the end. Not Gina. Gina was given 3 months. I am positive she left the office and said I have 3 months to lose it, so I don't have to start now, let's celebrate with fast food. Then the second month rolled around and she still figured she had time. During the first 2 months she gained 70 pounds and the 3rd month she actually dieted and lost 60 pounds. This left a 10 pound gain that she couldn't understand how it happened.

I had to bail halfway through last night because I had to get some sleep. I caught up on the rest this morning and can only shake my head at how utterly pathetic Gina is and that there was nothing that Dr. Now could do for her. All we heard from her were excuses. It's nothing that we haven't seen before, but it's pretty rare for us to see delusion on that level. Am I sympathetic that her father was abusive? Of course. No child deserves to be treated like that. But everything else? That's all on Gina and she takes responsibility for absolutely nothing.

The idea of being "forced" to bathe once a fucking month is disgusting and I don't blame Beth for cutting off the nookie train. Whining that anyone asks anything of her while she lays on that couch doing nothing more than counting air molecules. And once she was under Dr. Now's care, she finally ran into someone who saw right through her and made it clear that everything that happens is all on her. Dr. Now was right - the hard work has to be done by Gina no matter what is going on around her and what anyone else is doing. Everyone else is eating unhealthy food? What does that have to do with what she's putting in her mouth? There's a big event happening? What does that have to do with getting in a tiny bit of activity and eating according to the plan? All we heard from her is how hard it was and how overwhelmed she is... it was pathetic.

I'm going to use myself as an example - we had both bathrooms and my bedroom renovated over the past few weeks and I had a long stretch where I ended up sleeping on a very uncomfortable couch. I'd come home from work and have to clean because we were chocking on dust. We ended up eating dinner out a lot because it was impossible to cook at home, and all this was going on during my two week surgery prep. That didn't stop me from sticking to my plan and doing what I needed to do. And this was after spending nine months of weigh ins, doctor appointments and every kind of medical test you can imagine. It was all on me to do what I was supposed to and I'm now cruising to my surgery on Monday.

I just have no patience for people who are their own worst enemies. There was no help that Dr. Now could really give her because Gina refused to do the work that she needed to. It's unfortunate that a 28 year old woman is looking to be dead by 40, but it's up to her to make the changes that need to be made.

Sending you good thoughts for your upcoming surgery. I think Gina would faint just thinking about being as responsible and prepared as you are. And of course need massive quantities of food to cope with the stress!😊

When I was a kid we rented a house in Stone Harbor, NJ (beach town near Wildwood) every summer and there was a shower on the side of the house for rinsing off after coming from the beach so people wouldn't have to track so much sand inside. Just a shower head hooked into the house's water, a small concrete slab, and walls made from wooden fencing. And a drain pipe, I guess (it wasn't meant for real showering so it might not have had a real drain). If they have the yard space they could probably do something like that easily enough. Might need a plumber to for the water part, but any reasonably handy person could probably do the rest. (Though in NJ it wouldn't work too well in the winter.) Though if you've gotten to the point where you're considering building an outdoor shower because your bathroom isn't big enough perhaps you should be rethinking your life choices.

The other thing that was hilarious is that she was trying to tell Dr. Now that she ate like a bird.

Well, in reality, most birds eat, like, all the time, so...
(One of the google results I found on the subject said "On average, birds eat approximately 1/2 to 1/4 of their body weight every day. For example, a 2 lb. cardinal, a seed-eating bird, would consume approximately 1/2 to 1 lb. of seeds per day.")

I hope not to get slammed, but I'm wondering if Gina is actually a lesbian. She smacks of someone who would say yes to Beth asking her out and then--WHOMP-they're married, because, as noted, she needs a caregiver and a loyal one at that.

Gina seemed extra fake during the painting date, "We're on a date!" It just didn't seem genuine at all. I think she's putting up a front.

I really want to know whose idea it was to paint an elephant. Of all the options those places have...

ITA about becoming so disabled at such a young age. What was the name of the poundticipant that became disabled AND unable to use a toilet because it might break at the age of 21? I think her name was Schenee and, according to her and her doormat boyfriend, she had a lot of "intelligment" going on.

I won't get into who's getting or deserving of receiving disability nor want to encourage any back and forth discussion here about that topic -- a Primetimer no no -- but just want to say that new government rules regarding who can continue to receive disability benefits will be a rude awakening for many of these folks. Specifically, if you are assessed as having a disability that can be fixed/improved upon to restore you to a non-disabled life, which I assume would include weight loss, you will be required to do so. Thus, the gravy train--pun intended--would come to a screeching halt and the person would no longer have the luxury of thinking about whether or not they want to lose weight. That decision will be made for them.
