ElectricBoogaloo January 27, 2020 Share January 27, 2020 Quote Nora and Grandma go to Atlantic City, where Nora gambles and runs into an old acquaintance on the boardwalk; Grandma and her friends battle to use a casino power outlet. Original air date: 1/29/20 Link to comment
ElectricBoogaloo February 1, 2020 Author Share February 1, 2020 I thought the fight over the outlet was silly but in a fun and realistic way. But FYI to Nora's grandma - that's why I travel with a power strip. If you offer to plug that into the outlet, you can share both use the outlet and everyone wins! I felt bad that Nora's high school friend was so embarrassed about "failing" that she pretended not to even know her. I went to a high school where just about everyone went to college so I get feeling like you aren't measuring up to everyone else's success, but it's okay not to follow the same path as everyone else. Ha, I loved that Nora was so bluntly honest about the fact that her plan for a day when the house was empty was to get high and masturbate all day. 1 5 Link to comment
Matt K February 4, 2020 Share February 4, 2020 I loved Nora being like "I'm just counting cards here, that's not a problem right?". I loved Nora at the blackjack table. I was just in Atlantic City over the summer (Brother's bachelor party) and the dealers are more than willing to explain the game to you. Same with other players. I loved how Nora and Grandma both got kicked out of the casino. Was not expecting Grandma to start a race war though. 3 Link to comment

Not only did she think it was totally not a big deal but she was explaining how to do it while she was sitting at the blackjack table which totally cracked me up (even as I was yelling, “GIRL, NO!!”). 1 1 Link to comment
AuntiePam February 6, 2020 Share February 6, 2020 Did Nora understand that those chips represented money? The way she seemed to be donating them to other players, I wondered. For a minute I thought she was going to win a lot of money, but it makes more sense for her to get kicked out. Love grandma. I get the feeling that she's always been strong and feisty, that it isn't just the old lady trope we've seen so often. Link to comment
idiotwaltz March 1, 2020 Share March 1, 2020 Watched it and enjoyed it, except I find it hard to believe Nora wouldn’t have learned to play blackjack earlier in her life. Every Chinese kid growing up in US/Canada I know, myself included, learned to play blackjack and Big 2 from their cousins, usually while the older relatives were playing mahjong. Once we hit 11 or 12, we got to sub in at the mahjong table while grandma checked on the food. I loved grandma starting a race war. “Don’t talk to the Chinese about books. We invented paper!” “Don’t talk to Koreans about chargers, we invented Samsung!” 1 Link to comment
