S08.E04: Don't Do It, Brittany

Recommended Posts

I can’t determine if it’s me aging or if these shows aren’t as good but VR was must see for me at one time in my life and now I struggle to get through an episode.

I still love the opening and music.

I hate Brittany.  When she was telling us how she had forgiven Jax for his cheating all I wished for was that marriage to crash and burn  .  She’s smug and acts entitled.

All the girls ganging up on Kristen is boring.  They’ve shamed her into her situation and she doesn’t have the nerve to say “I don’t care if I support him- ok!”

Stassi is coming to my town in March and I bought tix and and going with another VR fan. I find her funny and smart. I also suspect I won’t believe how pretty she is in real life bc I do find her very attractive.

When Brittany kept crying about ppl needing to celebrate her love with Jax it made me laugh. She’s so ridiculous. I wish ppl the best but I don’t go to their Bachelor party to worship and celebrate their epic love. These ppl and their expectations are just so idiotic.

Aww, you are very kind. I actually did work in a department store in the summer after my freshman year of college. I think we manually entered the style numbers, etc., at the register. Yes, I am that old.

Me too! Did you also use the credit card flatbed for manual transactions where you slide to the right, then back left again?  I actually want to get that as a collectable for the retro/antique cabinet at home.  I also love rotary and wall phones.

FI and Stassi were on okay terms when the show began, but then people were taking sides between Stassi and Jax on the cheating and FI was going all "I am LIVID" at the rumour about Jax 'getting a porn star pregnant in Vegas' thing and chose Jax (gag).  Then in season 2, Stassi was up his ass about cheating on Kristen (again in Vegas) and making out with Ariana and then their 'friendship' soured more and more.  Stassi was always friends with Schwartz (kind of), but not really with Sandoval.

Hee! Yes, I did! Did some customers ask you to give them the carbons, so that dumpster-diving thieves could not use the credit card numbers?

Those flatbeds would be a fantastic collectible! I also love rotary phones. We actually owned one of those O-shaped phones that you reposition to look like an S. I can’t believe my mom threw it out.

What’s in the retro cabinet so far?

I am really annoyed with all of these new people being featured on the show.  I said I can take exactly three new people—Max, Dayna and Brett—and I thought they would be incorporated with the other guys organically.  All of these other new people—Charli, Danica, Valissa—can really go take a long walk off a short pier.  And the other newbies shouldn’t get to have a show-within-a-show.  It’s not entertaining.

Schwartz sat next to his wife on the plane!  That’s a good boy, Schwartzie, Schwartzie!

Sandoval’s apology was bullshit.  He was wrong, and if he would have just apologized, Stassi would have been knocked off her high horse hard.  The excuses go to your co-“owners”, Flat Iron, not “the customer.”  If Schwartz doesn’t know how to clock-in, that’s on Schwartz and the people who decided to go into business with him, not Stassi.  This pains me to say, but Beau was 100% right there.  Stassi should not have yelled at him in the front of house though, and they were his customers, or at least 5% his customers, so one and one twentieth of a point to Sandoval.

Sandoval can quit using literally” as a superlative anytime now.

Did Stassi call Ariana a “whore” in the flashback to the airport?!?  Girl fight! Girl fight!  I missed how the book connected to Ariana suggesting that Tom Schwartz was at the root of it all.  Can someone clue me in as to how Ariana managed to get there from here?

Lisa really needs a more supportive undergarment.  In the black dress, on the phone with Miami, her girls looked like they were touching her belt.  *Literally*

Just when I thought Beau was being a good guy, shooing away a stripper, he does a TH that Stassi “scares the crap out of [him].”  He emasculates himself without any help from his girlfriend.

Stassi’s commentary on the assorted wedding dresses wasn’t funny or accurate or clever.  It’s tacky for Ariana to be in a wedding dress because she doesn’t plan on getting married?  That’s not the right use of the word, unless she thinks Ariana is being “cheap and vulgar.”  I mean, this entire show is cheap and vulgar, but I don’t see how Ariana wearing a wedding dress makes it more so.

I love how Stassi is smirking about being drunk and crying in a hotel room vis a vis Brittney.  Wasn’t that Stassi’s MO last season at her birthday and in Mexico with Beau?  Stassi, hypocrite be thy name.

Scheana looked so bored when Brittney was freaking out.  It’s not about her, an Apple Watch or a TV that was hung in seven seconds, so what is there to care about?

Brittney is so dumb that the wattage of her brain power would only lightly toast a piece of bread.

Lala has officially admitted she fucks for gifts.  Notice how shocked Lala was that all of Kristen and Carter’s sex toys fit into one box.  (But Lala was not wrong that Scheana is jealous of Dayna).

Katie and Tom are just depressing and low-energy and maudlin together In the hotel, but they both had a fairly good episode, all things considered.

What is Jax’s damage?  He wants Flat Iron to rent a bigger, better boat that the three-story one he rented?  For a marriage that is going to last about three years?  Why are people—including good friends—expected to spend down payment sized money on their friends because their friends made the personal decision to get married?  I’ll never get that.

I’m starting to see why Kristen’s friends no longer want to hear about Carter.  Mentioning twice, not once, that she had sex with Carter after she moved away from him...what are her friends’ responses supposed to be?  Seriously.  What does Kristen want?  It seems like they would be ok if Kristen and Carter stayed together; they just don’t know what to say to her when it seems like she’s trying to get support for her breakup and her relapses.  Her reaction to Lala’s suggesting she be single says it all.  She and Scheana are starting to have a lot of unfortunate parallels.  But Kristen is 37 years old.  Scheana is the only single person she’s ever met???

Countdown to Scheana trying to get with Peter in five...four...three...

This was the best episode of the season yet, despite all my misgivings.  They are always so good when they go to Miami!  (Too bad next week looks like the same old grind in their shitty new houses that are on tiny pieces of property.  Seriously.  There was a shot at the beginning of the episode out of Brittney and Jax’s corner window, and you could see like five adjoining properties.  Out of one corner window  😒)

That's not just their neighborhood.  Land in CA is at a premium.  Most everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, is on postage stamp land.  It's just too expensive to have even quarter acre property especially anywhere close to LA.

I would simply LOVE for you to challenge Lisa on the way to run an event at a restaurant.

I suspect that we will see the upshot of this on this week's show.  Last week, Lisa did the appropriate thing and questioned EVERYONE directly involved in the situation.  She's got all the information she needs to take FI down, the way he needs to be.

Stassi didn't need his permission, given she'd spoken both to Lisa and the other Tom.  And his BS that he knew nothing about the event was caught on camera.  He loses this one completely.

I’m not sure I agree with you. There’s a good amount of space in the Calabasas and Malibu area, as well as the Antelope Valley. Glendora has some properties for sale for the same prices they paid that aren’t crowded like that. When they showed Raquel’s childhood home in Thousand Oaks, it didn’t look nearly that crowded.

None of the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills—each of whom live in LA, few in BH—seem to have the problem of looking up from their newspaper at breakfast and making eye contact with a bunch of neighbors. I think it comes down to money and location more than it comes down to space.

So if they wanted space, they can just drive. None of them really work at Sur anymore, so they can just move to the places where there is room and drive together to film.

Now...if they want to live so close to WeHo that it’s not a far drive, then of course they’re going to live on top of each other and still pay high, kind of like people who work in Manhattan and love Manhattan so much, but can’t afford to live there or Westchester. They might move to move to a house in Queens, which is also expensive, and the homes are super close. Ok, fine, that’s their choice, but I don’t think it’s desirable. I don’t think it’s nice. I don’t think it’s impressive. And I definitely think there were other ways to have done it that could/would be impressive if they have 1.7 - 1.9 million to finance housing.

I’ve said in posts earlier this season that I would sooner live in a nice apartment like Scheana’s than have my own house on that small of a lot.  There’s more privacy that way.  Save up $ and then move somewhere nicer in a few years. My opinion.

Yeah, the one with the carbon paper underneath and the shop keeps the original and the customer gets the copy.

And the slider that makes the impression on the carbon paper. I remember using those when I worked at Maas Brothers over Xmas break.

Indeed.  I purchased and live in my folks' Northern California tract house built in 1951 and purchased for $10,000.   Granted, there's not much to the closet and the bathroom (only 1!) but my side windows are at least 20 feet from my neighbors and I have a yard big enough for my dog to run in!!  My friends in newer homes could hand their neighbors a jar of Grey Poupon by opening their kitchen window.

On re-watching the confrontation at Tom Tom with Stassi, I offer a simple solution:

Stassi should ask how much the event cost and write them a check for the full amount.  Then never give them another shred of business ever again.  Close the book and move on.

Worked at Nordstrom late 90s - I remember customers asking WHY we still used them, they were obsolete!  The whole transaction was on a computer, really no need to scan the card, except to show that the customer presented the card to us.
