Athena December 28, 2019 Share December 28, 2019 Quote Graham presents his traditional New Year’s Eve talk show, with guests including double Oscar-winner Tom Hanks, starring as American children’s TV host Mr Rogers in A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood; his co-star, Welsh actor Matthew Rhys (The Americans); Strictly judge Motsi Mabuse; top British actor Stephen Graham (Line of Duty, Rocketman), discussing new drama White House Farm; rising British star Florence Pugh (Midsommar, The Little Drummer Girl), who is in the new movie version of Little Women; and boxing champion Anthony Joshua, fresh from regaining his world heavyweight titles. Plus music from Melanie C feat Sink the Pink, performing their current single High Heels. Link to comment
dubbel zout December 29, 2019 Share December 29, 2019 Anthony Joshua is so charming. I can't wait for this ep! 3 Link to comment
dubbel zout January 4, 2020 Share January 4, 2020 It's so disconcerting to hear Matthew Rhys's native Welsh accent. He so often uses an American one. If I were Tom Hanks, I wouldn't be so proud of not reading Pride and Prejudice and Jane Eyre. Little Women is more understandable. Anthony Joshua was really a good sport about his loss in America. 6 Link to comment
Ailianna January 5, 2020 Share January 5, 2020 I don't think Tom Hanks was bragging about not reading those three books. He's simply acknowledging that they are three books that a lot of women have read (especially women who have been to college), and that far fewer men have read, but women often assume men have read them. Or should read them. It's much easier to nod along than to get into a discussion of why he should read them or not. I haven't read any of them either, and I have an English degree and read for pleasure as much as I can. I know certain facts about them, but no strong desire to read them. I tried Little Women when I was in the young teen female demographic that seems to adore that book, and I couldn't finish it. I did think it ironic that they were discussing Pride and Prejudice as something he hasn't read though, considering there is a long scene in You've Got Mail about that exact novel. I don't follow boxing, but I really enjoy Anthony Joshua on Graham's couch all the time. So naturally I am rooting for him in any matches he may have! 6 Link to comment
TexasGal January 5, 2020 Share January 5, 2020 Florence Pugh’s dress was beautiful. On 1/4/2020 at 2:03 PM, dubbel zout said: It's so disconcerting to hear Matthew Rhys's native Welsh accent. It is odd to hear Rhys’ real accent, but I love it! I love Jane Eyre and have read P&P, but I missed Little Women somehow. I keep thinking I should read it but have never gotten around to it. 2 Link to comment

I found it cloyingly dreadful and couldn't even finish it. Link to comment
