All those people in that room and nobody noticed that boy was alive. And if I was Hanna I would tell Katherine to kiss my butt from now on, I couldn't belive the way she tried to dismiss Hanna. She's the one who asked Hanna to come over there in the first place.

Right! For 32 hours at that! Didn't anyone ever check Wyatt for a pulse?

So D.A. Sallison waits until it looks like she is at fault for Wyatt before bringing up that Amanda might have been murdered. She probably wouldn't have come up with this theory otherwise, unless it could get her next to David.

Jeffrey is not looking good, not with all that confessing he keeps doing. He needs help, in a big way.

David shed some tears when talking with Jim about Wyatt. I wonder how Veronica would feel about that if she saw her husband crying...never mind,  that woman feel very little for anyone but herself.

This was the most rediculous thing I have ever seen on TV in my life! So nobody from the coroner's office was sent there? Sorry to be gross, but after 32 hrs wouldn't a body start to decompose? They didn't notice that wasn't happening?

The way that Jeffrey ferociously stabbed mommy dearest didn't look like a superficial stabbing to me. He went deep and hard. So what do we get out of it? Veronica insisting she doesn't have implants.

Why wouldn't David go to Maggie Day's funeral? Maybe he wasn't in love with her but he definitely cared about her.  He needs to show some respect for Maggie.

Amanda was murdered? Are they kidding.....

I like Jeffrey and Candace's friendship even though they keep pulling each other down into each other's messes.

So Candace didn't know about Wyatt. Wasn't it all over the news? It's  hard to believe that she stays so out of touch with the real world.

What the what? Maggie the mistress gets a state funeral? Since when does a mere campaign manager merit the kind of recognition former presidents get?

Wow, they might be revisiting Amanda's death. Wonder if we'll finally find out she was pregnant after all? That would be a hell of a call-back and it wouldn't surprise me at all if the dirty professor or his wife did kill Amanda.

Justin's a nice boyfriend, climbing out of his warm marital bed in the middle of the night to help Jeffrey. I guess Jeffrey must be that good.

Wyatt. OMG, this ridiculous show. Jim and Katheryn will probably put Wyatt in a cage under the house to keep him out of trouble now.

It's great that he went. Too bad there isn't tape for Veronica to watch with him balling out over her coffin saying that she, Maggie, was truly the only woman that he ever loved.

I'm sorry, Veronica is one evil snake. Bitch is too nice of a word to use on her, pure evil and I don't know what reason she has to be so damn evil.

David has long gotten on my last nerve, but I'm liking him more as long as he keeps hating on Veronica. I haven't seen this episode yet, but here's hoping that he doesn't give a shit when he learns that Veronica was stabbed. He needs to focus on getting Jeffrey out of any culpability for trying to put that snake down.

Oh, he's back on my shit list then. I want Veronica to disappear. As I've said before, she's not even the typical soap character that you LOVE to hate. She has absolutely no redeeming qualities.

I long suspected Wyatt to still be alive, as killing both him and Maggie off at the same time always seemed a bit too much. Truth be told, I would have preferred they kept Maggie alive as she was the more interesting character.  Also, they had set up her potentially being pregnant with Davids child, which would have driven Veronica even more nuts.

Hannah dragging her feet about calling the ambulance was everything and I liked that she was protective of Jeffrey.

Oh, if only Maggie had gotten knocked up, oh the justice, the  karma in that story, sigh.

I laughed and laughed and laughed for the first time watching this show. It's actually the first time I absolutely loved Hannah. I don't hate her but she can annoy the shit out of me. But in this episode, she was hilarious, it was everything.

Okay, I've figured it out. This show is aimed at people who don't speak English as their first language. That's why the characters talk so slowly and repeat everything over and over. Right?

Not sure what made Jennifer think it would be a good idea to deliver the news about Wyatt to Katheryn personally. There's never going to be any brownie points for her to score with the Cryers, especially not with Kate.

Oscar is not smart to be hanging around in town unless he's trying to reel Candace in for the catch. Again. Meanwhile, I wonder if his date has graduated from high school yet?

Speaking of "dating", what's Candace's galpal Erica doing with Colonel Sanders? Trying to score herself a free bucket of extra crispy? And why does she carry around extra phones that she can just leave wherever? Is that an escort thing?

Oh, Jeffrey. Now he's gone from being under his mommy's thumb to putting himself under Justin's. Meanwhile, wonder if the busybody neighbor noticed Justin was at Candy's house? For sure she saw (and heard) that gigantic, noisy tow truck, LOL.

Look at Benny trying blackmail Jeffrey with a worthless threat. What a moron. Meanwhile, Candace has become all around clueless, hasn't she? People are always having to bring her up to speed.

Re the previews, aw Jeffrey. Now that's why you don't bring a butter knife to a gun fight.

Lol, Mitch's family must be some kind of redneck mafia or something. Poor guy, still carrying a torch for Candy. If he really wants to help her he should just have War killed. All problems solved.

Wyatt was unconscious for 30 hours from a drug overdose and he's gonna be okay? Is he from the planet Krypton?

Oh come on, David will see Erica coming a mile away. And if he doesn't surely some of his cronies will recognize her because they've likely all "dated" her too. Plus psycho Ronnie will now be on Erica and that's a fatality in the making. Candace's schemes always blow up eventually.

Jeffrey's all, "Bish, don't try me" and Ronnie's all, "Not only will I try you, I will end you and your little friend Candace too." Such a loving family.

This show. Two judges going all gangsta with David pulling "clean" guns on people and jailbird Jim talking about how he'll come back leading the pack. Honestly, you'd think this stuff was written by preteens working on fantasies of what grownup life must be like. And I keep watching it, lawd help me...

Nice of Hannah to take a break from involving herself in both the Cryers & Harrington family dramas to remember she has her own family problems and a missing grandson to find. And what was up with that play area setup in the hospital and the bizarre nurse who was happy to let her talk to the boy one minute and changed her mind the next?

Erica is really annoying. I'd actually be fine with Veronica taking her out next..

Ok I'm guessing that mitch's dad is going to be Oscar since Candace said mitch never introduced her to his family and Oscar seems to have the same kinda swag mitch has. I'm just pretty sure that's were tp is going with this. Meanwhile whatever happend with celest and her son that's Jims son. I'm wishing that a big shift will change to keep me guessing.

Geez, I'd forgotten about the gangster Malones. So Mitch does indeed come from some redneck mafia types.

Erica's fluorescent lipstick is certainly attention-getting. Sorry but it's not believable to me that David would be interested in her other than as a temporary bed mate. I could see her accidentally falling in love with him though.

Yikes, wonder if Oscar/Brandon's wife knows that he sleeps with other women as part of his job?

I feel bad for little Q and would hate to see him go into the foster care system where there's a good chance he'd get abused. However, I also think neither Candace nor Hannah should have him. IMO they're both toxic in their own ways and he doesn't need to be around either of them. Adoption into a good stable home far away from people who know him would probably be safest for him.

Um, Katheryn, do you want to get murdered? When Candace finds out about your will you'll get a big ol' $5 million target on your back. Plus, it looks like  your BFF is gonna make you an accessory to a literal kidnapping. Sheesh.

What are the odds O will renew this show for another season? Greenleaf is a smash and it makes THATHN look like a middle school production in a place where English is not the  first language. Expectations are that the upcoming Queen Sugar will be as good if not even better than Greenleaf. Maybe it's time to let TP move his two pathetic soaps over to TLC to join his upcoming new one (that allegedly is a ripoff of, er, homage to Scandal).

Erica blows Candace away in the looks dept. but yea, that lipstick. It's weird to me that they have Erica with those big, red lips and Candace with NO lipstick on, just her dry, ashy lips.  Are we supposed to believe that David is going to cave to Erica's seductive wiles when he held off from sleeping with Maggie (for a long time, anyway)?

I thought Tika Sumpter did a great acting job in that scene with Jeffrey on the bed. It's as if she knows her days are numbered and she's exhausted herself from all the games she plays. I see she's in an upcoming movie based on Barack and Michelle Obama's love story. She plays the role of Michelle. She's also very, very pregnant IRL.

So Hannah's on the run, and by on the run, she's staying put in the Cryer guest room.

Veronica went to Yolanda's House of Wigs and got herself a Maggie Day Do.

On a serious note, I did enjoy the scene between Katheryn and Hannah.  These poor actresses are given the worst scripts, yet somehow, magically, they seem to make it work.

Jeffrey was cracking me up fake calling out Wyatt, Landon, and Justin's name. I'd be surprised if Veronica hasn't put cameras in that bedroom to make sure they're really having sex.

"He would've locked her ass up...if he wasn't in jail himself." These people. (And what's going on with John Schneider? I can't remember the last time we saw Jim outside of that jail cell. They must be getting Schneider's services on the cheap. At this point he could do his role via Skype.)

Oh yeah, kidnapping children is hilarious, Katheryn. That's why we have Amber alerts now,  because stealing kids is so funny.

Batphone. I love it. Actually though, I bet Mitch knows how to get rid of a body, even one that's been barely buried for a while. Too bad Benny and Candace don't know he's from a family of actual gangsters.

Geez, Quita is as over-the-top as Ronnie. A little of her goes a long way for me. Too long.

Oscar/Brandon has a fake family set up in case someone tries to follow him home? FFS. Now he's put a target on some innocent children and their mother.

Speaking of Tika, I've seen a trailer for her new movie. She seems okay with her part but the guy playing Barack Obama is awful, IMO. He's sorta got the voice down but probably the only Black actor they could've gotten who looks less like Obama is Wesley Snipes. Whatever, everyone knows Will Smith has the definitive Obama biopic role on lock. Seems to me this current movie was more about letting Tika play Michelle Obama. It's so low-budget I'm surprised it didn't go straight to DVD.

That was a chilling scene when Candace was telling Benny the whole saga (well, the high points, at least) of her and Jim and War. Benny looked destroyed as he realized a) he was about to lose everything, and b) his sister is the kind of monster that eats itself and everything else in the vicinity.

Of course Jim mentioned the gun stashed in the safe to Katheryn. Chekhov's gun. Now it's just a matter of who's going to get shot.

Does DA Jennifer really still expect to use a drug addict who almost just died from an OD as her star witness? And bringing in Quita to confront Candy with a photocopy of a floor didn't seem like a professional move. Neither of them were under oath.

Bet Erica is going to fall for David despite trying to run game on him. At least David was smart enough to have Oscar/Brandon do a background check on her. He seems like such a naif sometimes though.

Any word on whether this show has been renewed?

Heh, but still, Greenleaf makes this show look so bad and it wasn't looking all that great to begin with unless you'd never seen a soap before. (And English isn't your first language.)

I tried watching TP's new soap and as soon as I saw the president of the US making out with an intern in the Oval Office I was out. TP can't be serious about biting on Scandal/Shonda Rhimes. The production looks like it cost $1.49 tops.

I tried to watch the new show, but the acting is so bad IMO.

This show on the other hand, better make David suffer otherwise I'm going to be done with this as well. I can't stand that man.

And of course I want Veronica dead, but I really want that smug expression wiped off David's face.

He's going to pull a gun out on "thug" Benny, for his son as if Benny isn't someone's son, someone he damn well knows too.  David is a piece of shit behind his high and mighty facade, no wonder he fell in love with Veronica eeew to both of them, they literally think their shits don't stink. I don't know why Tyler Perry thinks he needs to keep winning, he doesn't deserve it.

This show is on it's last leg for me, unless Perry starts spreading the bad karma around fairly.

Candace, that's what happens when you lie that damn much, and cause that kind of destruction.  Your brother doesn't believe you when you say you were raped, and you were, repeatedly.  It's a damn shame.

I'm sure there will be at least one more season, but  I think the launch of more opulent looking shows like Greenleaf and Queen Sugar are going to lead to the end of Tyler Perry's reign as the Shonda Rimes of OWN.  Notice that Too Close to Home is not even airing on OWN! I think Oprah wants OWN to move away from theses tacky looking shows and into quality scripted programs that have a chance of getting her network some Emmy nominations. I enjoy THATHN as a guilty pleasure, but it really does look extra cheap when the air commercials for the GL & QS alongside it.  I wonder also, if Tika Sumpter will stay with the show much longer. Her career is really on the rise with that Obama movie and I'm sure she'll bolt from this show once her contract is up.

Heavens to Murgatroyd!

My finger is sore from constantly replaying the scene where Veronica slaps the shit out of Queefa!

I know, right. But contrast that with how she looked at the end of the episode. The woman who scares everybody in Savannah, was terrified of her bestie and she should be. Don't mess with Katheryn or her offspring and think you'll walk away unscathed.

TP does have some exciting  and satisfying scenes throughout his shows, he just makes you sit through tons of confusing and annoying dialog to get to see them.

Having Queen Sugar (and earlier in the summer, Greenleaf) debut right after THATHN shows a stark difference in production values- from the scenery, musical score, and editing. Writing too, I suspect, but I'll hold off on judging QS as it just started and I'll need more time to get into the story line. But good start, so far.

Link to comment

What a contrast, indeed!  Queen Sugar communicates more with one wordless, brief scene than a mountain of Tyler Perry's circular dialogue.

But I gotta hand it to my girl Renee Lawless, always thought she was too good for this show, but dammit, when Katheryn walked away after shooting Shari Headley and straightened out the floral centerpiece, I just about died.  She's awesome.

Was that the first time Jim called Katheryn Kate?  I don't recall him every doing that before.

Justin's willing to help cover up a murder for Jeffrey? I didn't realize it was like that between them.

Aw sookie sookie now. Ronnie thinks she's gangsta? Behold Katheryn, the queen of giving zero fucks when you push her too far.

Wonder if they're going to write in Tika's pregnancy? Candy could have a WTD situation between War and Oscar. Ugh, that poor baby. Meanwhile, it cracked me up to see Candace going all Stewie on Brandon.

"Greatest attorney in this country"? Oh please.

Apparently this show is being renewed because on IMDb the titles for next season's episodes are already listed. Still, TP is setting up some predictable cliffhangers. I think most of the storylines could easily end now: "...and absolutely none of them lived happily ever after."

Apparently last week's episode was the season finale because the future episodes that were listed on the show's Wiki page and on IMDb have been removed.  However, there is a season finale spoiler out on the interwebs which describes events which haven't aired yet. So, maybe the show's just taking a little time out? Meanwhile, If Loving You is Wrong's new season has premiered this week and usually it doesn't start until THATHN is finished. Hmm.

And in showbiz gossip/news, apparently Tika has revealed the father of her baby: Nick James, her co-star who plays officer Justin, Jeffrey's boyfriend.  That should be a gorgeous baby.

Link to comment

Okay but it must have been a fairly late decision to designate it as the finale. There were still additional episodes for this season listed on Wikipedia up until a few days ago and there is a spoiler for the season finale out in the wilds that includes things which haven't happened yet. This show. Why am I still watching it?

Love crazypants gangsta Katheryn. Guess she and Ronnie both realized they weren't really besties after all. This is going to be an amazing Cryer vs. Harrington war as soon as Jim gets out jail.

It was funny to see Tika beating up on the guy we now know is isn't her real life baby daddy. (It's the actor who plays Justin the cop and Jeffrey's sorta boyfriend. My mistake.) Their baby must be gorgeous.

Ugh, I think Hanna is such a miserable, hateful person for someone who claims to be so sanctified.

LOL, what was up with the low-rent Obama imitator? And his Michelle is dead?  Seriously, TK? Heresy! (It'll be hilariously ridiculous if he turns out to be Brandon's mark.)

A bit of retconning going on in this episode. Now we find out Veronica is mortgaged up to her eyeballs? And Brandon is an ex-con?

Of course Wyatt  wakes up just in time to hear Jeffrey's confession about killing and burying Q. Why in the world is he confessing anyway, to a cop, without counsel and in front of someone (yes, Wyatt was unconscious, but still)? I know Veronica is a mother from hell, but she had to have passed some legal knowledge to her son about dealing with the police. But that's this crazy show.

Also, I'm wondering how many episodes will it be before  anyone else realizes that Sallison is missing and on the Cryers' living room floor.

You could tell there was a body double for Katheryn in that stabbing scene on the staircase. Those kinds of scenes are apparently tricky to film even for showrunners more technically adept than TP.

Wyatt is a total waste of space and air. Why isn't he under guard anyway? I thought he was a key witness in big case.

Don't waste your time, Benny. You might as well be talking to the radio. There's no getting through to people as hatefully sanctimonious as Hanna.

Wait, why did David call him Oscar? Isn't his real name Brandon? Whatever, David is the biggest fool walking.

Mitch is probably not going to jail any time soon because it looks like all the cops are at Candy's house. (Oh wait, saw the previews, nevermind.)

Was it really necessary for Quita to have those ashy lips? She reminded me of Dave Chappelle in his crackhead skits, and not in a good way.

The kid and I did slow mo and rewind to laugh at the terrible stunt double for Katheryn. Only about 60 lbs lighter, no one will be able to tell. This is why Tyler Perry will never glow up to the next level. From his shitty casting to off the street extras mouthing words to terrible stuntpersons to high school play level sets, he is too cheap or too blind/ignorant to step his productions up.

The story with David and Erica is going way too slow and if they were trying to lure in new viewers, they would have no idea what was going on with that dinner date scene.

I hate Hanna and her sanctimonious ass. I also how with every episode they take Quita more and more into ignant Tyrone Biggums territory. I'm still thrown on how a hood chick with a murderous brother would let Veronica slap her in front of everyone in the hood.

Speaking of Bad Bad Leroy Brown from the southside of Chicago, she let a sedentary fat White lady chase her around and whip her ass? Come on now.
