Episode Discussion II: The TFGH

Culture Check: How can we discuss a character's or actor's appearance without objectifying them? How can we express likes or dislikes and still respect an individual's humanity or be mindful that a character represents a person someone else might relate to or identify with?

Both Olivia and Robert are still on the clothes that they were wearing more than a day ago. Ewww. Their suitcases were on the WSB plane, why not freshen up and change?

I thought about that too. Although Olivia looked pretty hot in that dress holding a machine gun, it's gotta be a little...uh, gamey by now. 🙂

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I’m having a disagreement with a friend.  Ned and Alexis did hook within the last decade right?  Which left Julian and Olivia out in the cold to console each other and then came Leo?  My friend was acting like their flirting today was their first time since they split.

They dated for a few months in 2014/2015 between Alexis/Julian break-ups. I can’t remember for how long since it was hard to tell they were together half the time but they definitely slept together the same night Julian/Olivia had their ONS.

If Nelle is going to sell Julian up the river (on the Pennsylvanian side!), could she at least have something incriminating on the She-Beast in her letter?

She probably had written if she was dead that Carly was the one that killed her.

I do not know why, however, they had her speak and then did the DUN! reveal of her.  Her voice is...kinda recognizable.

I actually loved that!  She said something like, "Good' and I immediately knew it was her and got so excited!  Kudos to the writers because I did not see that coming.  Wasn't until after the show that I thought, wait, how is she out of prison?  I'm guessing Robert might have had something to do with her release since he wants Peter so badly.

I did get a chuckle out of Nelle's "PSYCH!" letter to Julian.  It was very Nelle.

Also thought that was hilarious, especially the way she started the letter, something like, 'you're so predictable'  because she knew he'd go after the letter. Of course, I have no idea why/how the letter got to Ryan.  Did she mail it right before she died, knowing she was going to die?  Did she leave it with someone other than Martin and told said person to send it once she was dead?

Did they have their suitcase with them?  I thought the point of Ned getting the call that Olivia was in the honeymoon suite was that she had left some stuff behind, including her phone.  I assumed that the three of them had left Monte Carlo in a  hurry and hadn't taken their stuff with them.

Yeah, I do remember Ned/Alexis dating ( again) about 5 years ago, and Olivia pining for Ned. It stuck with me because of a particularly terrible promotional tie-in with the Denzel Washington Equalizer movie. Ned took Olivia because Alexis wasn't an action movie fan. They had Olivia hype that movie to an embarrassing degree.

And I'm impressed with Nell's forethought, she had that letter to Ryan ready to go, although I'd expect that mail to a serial killer would be screened (although I only know that from tv/movies).

I don't care how Leisl got to call the shots here. I just want her to crush Peter and get rid of him once and for all. Bonus points that Lulu gets shown up, too.

It looks like Dante's being brainwashed Manchurian Candidate style with the clicking pen as a trigger, but I don't quite understand why Anna was included, with the doctor making sure to say "Get rid of your preconceived ideas."  Is the implication that Dante went easy on Peter because he didn't want to hurt Anna?  Rather strange is you ask me.

I did like the Valentin/Martin scenes in that if Nelle did have incriminating info, then it's out of her attorney's hands--and I guess in Ryan Chamberlin's 🙂

Yes. The clicking of the pen was the trigger to put Dante in "mission" mode.

One, probably, because Obrecht hates Anna; also, Anna is Heinrik's biggest fan and supporter right now, so she obviously must also be included since Dante had a good working relationship with Anna when she was Commissioner.

Yes, and then Dante quickly said "I must complete the mission," which I hated cuz that was the same line the super evil Raag had him endlessly repeating. I don't know why Leisl has to do this to him unless she thinks Dante will hesitate about the mission when he finds out how attached Lulu, Anna and Maxie are to Peter.

Which also means that Robert has nothing to do with plan. While he hates Peter, it is not to the extent that he would  use Dante against his will where he may put those close to Peter idanger like Anna, Maxie, Lulu James, Georgie and unborn baby.

Yes, very Manchurian Candidate reminiscent--and I'm not totally mad about it, tbh.  I think I'm just tired of seeing Dante away from everyone and want the interaction with Lulu, Olivia, etc.  And if Peter dies in the fallout, all the better.

No way, no how, does Robert help Dr. O with ANYTHING.  Look, he hates Peter for.... being born I guess, but Dr. O. did, literal, physical and psychological harm to Robin.  I don't think he's a good parent, but I can't see him being enough of a douche to put his own feelings about Peter ahead of keeping that woman locked up and unable to do anything else.

Now Frisco... well...

That was my thought as well, when Obrecht was begging Robert to help her. And he thought about it. Or tried to help. Because he hates Heinrik more? I don't know. But he told her he couldn't do anything. And she was carted away.

And yet, here she sits like a queen at the desk at WSB.

Frisco's probably under mind control as well. Because while he's been a lousy father, (thank you, Show, for always going to that well whenever an actor leaves this show to move on to other things), he was also one of Robin's Godfathers and he loved her. So I can't see him helping Obrecht, either.

Of course, I could never imagine a hot headed fool like Frisco becoming the head of WSB either, so there you go.

Unfortunately no one would believe that was true since it's well known that Nelle and Calry hate each other. Nelle has accused Carly of trying to kill her at least twice before (the fall on the stairs and locked on the roof overnight).

I think that Ned got a phone call saying that she'd left her phone behind in the honeymoon suite to ensure that Ned feels that Olivia is swanning around Europe in an affair with Robert. It doesn't make sense that they left their suitcases since the WSB plane would have waited for them.

She's been watching everyone in Port Charles kiss Sonny's ring for years.  Not surprising that she wouldn't trust Dante, shot by Sonny and now kissing his ring.

It's could also be to show us that Dante is still under mind conditioning in case they want to actor to go away again after this arc.

Or everybody would believe her, but it's not exactly proof.  Just because somebody has motive to kill you, or you think that they will kill you, doesn't mean they do/will.

Yeah, and it didn't seem like they had to leave so quickly that they couldn't have called ahead and had the hotel staff pack up their things. Such a dumb plot point. I'm sure when Ned sees Olivia in her (admittedly awesome, if by now rather ripe) fancy dress, he'll go all "J'accuse!" and be an idiot.

Unless he's in bed with a drunk Alexis. Then Ned and Molly can bond over their indiscretions because they thought their partners had left them.

Ned will likely be a jackass regardless. Drama, you know. *rme* Not that Olivia is helping things by leaving useless messages, not going home immediately upon returning to PC, and generally deciding her marriage is over when it's really just going through a rough patch and she and Ned need to sit down and actually talk and listen to each other.

Olivia is acting like a 20-something who doesn't really know how to handle being in a long term relationship with someone.  It's not all great all the time.  The problem is that Olivia has never really been in a deep relationship before (from what we know).  She barely dated when Dante was younger and has never been married or with a guy for years on end.  She's being stupid, but I sort of understand why.

Ned should freaking know better.

They announced the show would be preempted today and the rest of the week, too a couple weeks ago.

Apparently I missed that announcement.  Have been sitting here for the past 1/2 hr. looking through the DVR trying figure out why there was no recording today and nothing is scheduled for the rest of the week.  Why did they even bother showing an episode yesterday?  Geez.  Well thank God for my British soaps this week then because  I need my daily soap fix and  Days has been dismal.

Catching up on last Thursday's episode.  Sonny really needs to shave, or find someone to shave him. He's looking like a homeless addict.

Nik goes to Julian asking if he's heard from Ava. Ned goes to Julian asking if he's heard from Olivia. What is Julian, the town crier?

Michael asks Elizabeth if he should still have Wylie's surgery at GH. Maybe ask your grandmother, the former Chief of Staff at GH and a cardiac surgeon instead?  She would know better the quality of surgeons at GH, although Elizabeth could tell you about the care he'd receive on the floor.

Where I live, referrals to specialists have to be made by the family doctor. Can you just pick one and go directly to her/him in the US?

It depends on the requirements of your medical insurance.  Usually if you belong to an HMO, you need referrals and I am sure some surgeons require them, but it's also possible to go directly some surgeons.

I was shocked how rough he looked!  Were they going for the "I am in grief " look??  I'm not really liking the extra scruffy Dante either.

Nurses are the ones who really run the hospital, so Elizabeth would know if the quality was slipping. As to giving a specific recommendation, Monica would be the one to ask that.

Michael is not in HMO. Forget having the first tier in medical insurance, he could actually afford to pay for Wylie's surgery out of his pocket.

You mean to tell me in the years that Robert has been so anti-Peter, he has not spoken Frisco to warn him about Peter getting close to Maxie and his grandchildren? And Frisco as the head of the WSB has tried to get something concrete on Peter?

The whole thing wtih the WSB quickly declaring Holly dead with a very clean ring and rushing Robert out of town, and Dr O just chilling in the WSB facility, points to Frisco having lost any control of that agency.

I have no doubt he was easily ousted in some kind of coup.

Do we know that LIesl is actually ini charge of the WSB.  Her office looked awfully spartan, I don't even remember anything on her desk.  Is it possilbe that she commandeered some empty office that she's working out of and that no one even knows she's there.

This is just the "facility" in Switzerland where Dante was "supposedly" getting treatment. I don't think it's the headquarters of the WSB itself.

But this is HackFrank! so it will change as plot! demands.

All I know is the post from the media thread that stated the show would be preempted on the 29th and Oct. 2, I think? Or maybe the rest of the week? Either way, my comment was to explain why there was no show yesterday. That it wasn't out of the blue, but that it was reported ahead of time that show would be preempted.

Liesl is probably the medical director, hee.

Maybe there's a show on Friday depending on how the baseball games go? I don't know if the playoff series has been shortened or not.

I'm so conflicted. I have hated Valentin since he first appeared. Believing him as the most evilest Cassadine ever whom even Helena feared never worked with his "I was a teenage hunchback obsessed with Anna" storyline or how he is such a spineless freak when it comes to Nina of all people. But, I absolutely love JPS and have believed him far more capable than what the writing has given him. But lately, I'm liking him and wondering if they are trying to make him a good guy now. I liked him with Alexis and he hasn't been ridiculous with Lulu in a while. He seems genuinely interested in making money for ELQ and pissing off Sam was a delightful added bonus. I'm actually liking Valentin. Now if they can just have him challenging Sonny... oh, and maybe he could be matched with immature Brook Lynn. I can see him not putting up with her bull and making her finally grow up. Plus, with him in the Quartermain family, people could get over him owning much of ELQ. Not sure about him with BL, but want something so he can stick with ELQ. And making trouble for Michael.

I don't know.  Valentine just firing Michael and maybe Ned and then installing BL in a high profile, low responsibility job that would piss her family off would warm my cold little heart.  No need to pair them off.  But... if the chem was there, it would be pretty awesome.

Depends on your insurance, but the short answer is yes. I can go to any doctor I want, without a referral. Other plans are more restrictive

Probably will be on demand too, I’ll check tomorrow.

Why are they pursuing the Nina storyline with the dumb necklace, if Nelle is dead?  Unless they change it to Willow or something.  I’m ok with that if it gives Willow something to do other than being Michael’s stepford wife.
