Language is a large part of culture and ethnicity and represents a large part of someone's heritage. I'm not trying to slam anyone who lost access to the language at any age because that may have been their choice (dependent on age) or the choice that their parents made for them. Still, they may have had access to their heritage through other things. Not going to go into that debate because it all depends on the individual, their family and the importance that person and their family place on how culture, heritage, language and everything else impacts them and even what the definition is! Granted, this year is pretty diverse in that a quarter of the squad represents those of non-European descent through heritage and other aspects, but, sad to say, the girls don't LOOK like what the average person thinks of when someone mentions Latina, East Indian, Middle Eastern, etc. (and I can be as guilty of that as the next person). I'm trying NOT to put a percentage of what would be "acceptable" as that doesn't determine appearance or anything else. However, the majority of these girls LOOK white or what people think of as vaguely Hispanic/Latina, etc. They see girls with pale skin and lighter hair. Even the girls with darker hair have paler complexions. The girls that aren't African-American, but have some color in their skin seem to have hair that tends towards being more of a light brown (whether through changing the color or highlighting it because of Kelli). The average viewer, who doesn't know the squad like we do, tends to see pretty "white" girls and a few African-American girls. It seems that Kelli has gone for the Generic Girl look and away from the more "ethnic"/"cultural"/"stereotypical" girl that DOESN'T look like many of the girls who are of that race. Granted, I can be as stupid-blind as the rest of society at times (and have worked to get past that), but there are young girls of many races/ethnicities/cultures who are just getting into the dance/cheerleading scene (and who don't know who the individual DCC are or their backgrounds/heritages) and don't see girls who look like them. Showcase one dancer a week and you've got 36 weeks of content right there! agree completely...its distracting to see these in lobbies/hallways, and filmed at weird angles. I do NOT miss Shannon asking the girls if they have a boyfriend (for the thousandth time)! He was not my best thing. I thought Courtney got a lot better towards the end of TBAMFT but she was so into the girl talk she forgot to cut the cheerleaders off when they got boring (cue twenty minutes on Molly losing her phone on calendar shoot... the dullest story ever!) I like Kelli a LOT and wish Judy spoke more, I enjoy Kristi too - I thought I wouldn't love Hailey but she's ok. I just wish it was more about cheerleading! The oscars spiel went on for SO long and I know it's Kelli's biggest deal in her life but I could have done without it. Hope they keep the podcast but have more cheerleading segments - I was SO SO happy to finally hear about Amy's probowl experience! 6 Link to comment

They have an official social media account that the organization sets up, but I've seen this claim on here a few times about the girls not being able to have their own personal social media accounts and that just isn't true. Most of the girls have their own accounts and post whatever they want. I'm sure they're watched, but they're not DCC controlled...and while I think the angle of Hannah's body is too severe to make a good photo, this photo fits within the DCC image so I doubt anyone would look sideways at it. 2 11 Link to comment

I totally agree! I am so happy for her! Her cheekbones seem to have a lower elevation than in her younger years, hell, than a half year ago, and it makes her face look less round. Her longer hair also gives her a longer face. Maddie is bringing the glamour in her 5th year, and I am all for it. I always liked her but I always felt like she wasn’t up to par on the glamour department. If she keeps changing like this, who knows how she would look like in her 6th or 7th year! Not only did it obviously stand out (in a not so flattering way) compared to how the uniform fit on the girls around her, but the improper fit did her a disservice by making her look more bottom-heavy than I think she actually is (or was).
