Well, I very much enjoyed the naked Adam fight - maybe we could have naked fighting in every episode?

Adam's Yakuza family ties are a great thread that was somewhat wasted IMHO when he was first brought into the team so maybe the writers will address this further.

Thought it was very nice of Boss McGarrett to allow Adam the day off claiming "we have nothing much going on" while he was looking at three murders. And that when Danny was also off AGAIN!!!!!. Interesting how new girl was filling the Danny role as Steve's second. I really only watch the show for the McDanno stuff so I was rather surprised at myself for following this one through when it became apparent that SC was away once more...guess that naked fighting really drew me in!

Yeah, we definitely got a cargument there with Quinn, fine by me. I'd even be okay with Law taking over Caan's part completely. But I wondered if Steve's health problems are not a bit more serious than he let on. 

I appreciate shirt-less Adam but let's face it we've seen this plot about a hundred times by now.

Just really they have ran the Adam plot through and through. Think either he gets fired or resigns. He needs to either prove his loyalty to Steve or to the mob he thought he left.

No Danny nor Eddie but really Quinn could indeed take over the Danny role.

Lou I wish would be given more screen time. But love him and the "kids" together.

As someone who can't eat certain foods, I did not find Quinn rubbing it in Steve's face that he can't eat this yummy yummy sugary food funny. I've had people do that to me IRL and it is never funny. 

I agree with others that Quinn could take over Danny's role.

Really though. We've been saying this for years. It's completely laughable and absurd at this point that he can get out the door without tripping over his shoelaces. As ridiculous as this show is, I can roll with the stunts and fights, but I can't suspend my disbelief at this point that Adam is actually competent.

As much as I rip on the show, I think Katrina Law has been a good addition to the cast. I've been finding Steve rather boring, and the interactions with the rest of the cast are more interesting. Not Adam though.

Considering how Kono & Adam’s relationship was supposed to initially be a secret, at least where Five-0 was concerned, I think the title of this episode would’ve been equally appropriate for that episode. Just saying.

Oh, & congratulations to Ian Anthony Dale (Adam) & his real-life family on the impending birth of their second child, a daughter (he mentioned it in an interview I read in the last few days; it might’ve been about this episode primarily).

Every episode that Danny's not in, I can't help thinking about how the show got rid of two fantastic actors so they can keep paying someone who can't be bothered to show up for a full season. Really bothers me.

Also, I don't mind the addition of Katrina Law's character but it doesn't sit right with me that they're trying to force a similar relationship between her and Steve that it took ages to establish with Danny. It rings false to me, and like a *very* unsuccessful attempt to disguise Danny's absence for so many episodes.

The strength of having Law on is her mentorship with Tani. I can't really buy that she puts up with Steve's bullshit anymore than he's the Five 0 overlord and she's tolerating him because she really finds the job rewarding. 

The actor seems to genuinely enjoy the role. She posts pics on social media all the time.

I don't mind the new character.  I do mind that they're obviously giving her the Danny cargument "poke-at-Steve" role. 

I do love Ian Anthony Dale on my screen.  I just don't like the Adam character.  He's not been well written, so he bounces around from being the uber!cop-savant with both the computer table as well as a genius investigator in addition to being a crack shot and a hand to hand combat specialist to being the hapless "I'm a Yakuza, get me out of here!" idiot. 

Maybe the writers think they're being clever by bookending the Adam experience.  First he's a Yakuza scion with a secret cop girlfriend.  Now he's a super-cop with a secret Yakuza girlfriend.

Part of it smacks of the desperation of having a not-white guy regular. It's not the actor's fault, but Adam just isn't a character that needs to be there all the time. They just don't know what to do with him. If he remaining working on 'becoming legit' and Five 0 came to him from time to time as a CI, it would have been a more logical fit. Then once and a while you do an Adam Episode.

I just can't buy him being anything remotely as an action character. It's ridiculous.

I don't know what TPTBs are thinking, but they gave him an entire organized crime plot, and he got his CI killed and lost millions of dollars. He shouldn't be entrusted to go buy sandwiches.

Really someone who said they found Steve boring as they had toned down his control issues and with the exception as wish Danny would stand up and grab the keys away to his own car,, really like Steve this way. Problem is he kind of came off an arrogant egomaniac a*s but they have toned him down in recent seasons.

Oh, Hawaii Five-0, you're such a stupid show. I watch because I went to Hawaii for two weeks, thirty-five years ago, and I'm still in love with it. Ian Anthony Dale, you're a beautiful man. I love Scott Caan and his NJ roots and sense of humor. But as preposterous as this show is, I'm embarrassed that I watch. 

I know the show is never realistic but sometimes things are so glaringly dumb for plot purposes. For one example...sure, let's have a hangout for Filipino murderers who have a cardboard sign on their clubhouse door that says "Closed," but the door is not locked. There's no surveillance. Adam comes in with his mask and gun, grabs a hostage, but the thugs don't shoot him while his back is turned as he loads the hostage into the trunk. No, they conveniently wait until he's in the driver's seat and speeding away before they begin shooting. 

The show has always been replete with nonsense but I do enjoy the physical and human beauty displayed. I've never been a fan of the carguments, too forced, but without Danny it's even more ridiculous.

Yes, Arkay hit the nail with the observations about the Filipino gang. First of all, never sit with your back to the door. If the guy he grabs isn't the big cheese, wouldn't the other 12 guys figure he is expendable and shoot at Adam? To me, though, the look on Adam's face when he delivers the thug to Masuda, and is told a meeting is already arranged and it is taken care of, was just priceless. It was the "oh my gosh, I just kidnapped this guy for nothing"!

Now, to the meeting/ambush. Kenji was one of the 2 guys who snuck up from behind to knock out the Filipino thugs and take their guns. Consequently, if he did indeed shoot Masuda, as Adam alludes to during a face to face confrontation at the end, why does Adam think he would use his own handgun to do so instead of the Filipino thug's weapon? Genius. Also, it is odd that I can't find the age of Sonny Saito who played Masuda, but there is no way he is very old and I thought that was a BIG stretch to think he was 60 or so. I do think that they made him up to look older in this episode, though?

Someone needs to explain "home security" to Tamiko. Of course, they might as well explain it to McGarrett as well since his home has been broken into multiple times.

Now, the big question in the upcoming Fall finale is "the watch". Does he take Tamiko with him to explain his actions? Does he say he was mugged earlier and the watch was stolen? Does he simply say he went there to talk to them about letting Tamiko go and left the watch as good faith that he would return? I suppose they could find some slugs from his gun as he shot at the guys when he was leaving and they first came out of their super-secure secret hideout.

Finally, why was Adam aghast that Kenji was going to kill the kidnapped thug? What did he expect them to do when he turned the guy over in the first place? Give him a good spanking?

Thank you for helping me pinpoint why I watch this show, give or take a few sentences.  You're absolutely right.  It's a show on a beautiful island with beautiful people that they are trying to make fun.  I guess that's what sets it apart from every other CBS procedural show.  I suppose the more serious tone of NCIS or FBI would be wasted when we can view beautiful beaches, oceans, and nature, taking away our laid back Friday nights.

I never hate-watch shows as some people do but I have a list of shows for snark-watching and Hawaii Five-0 takes pretty much the top spot. The show being so unapologetic over-the-top makes it even more fun. I mean we had nuclear bombs, serial killers, terrorists of various ilk, biochemical warfare threats - it's almost as if Hawaii is the favorite holiday location of the Four Horsemen while looking extremely pretty!

More serious tone of NCIS? I guess I look at it as a franchise  and the first thought that popped into my mind is the happy music playing interludes as the couples try to find information about the WMD's about to destroy the world.

The show is absolutely ridiculous. McBride is a very good actor, so he's at least watchable. I do enjoy the fight and action sequences. They do that well.

I wish TPTBs would step back though and take a look at the characters. Danny is better when he's doing actual detective work and not bitching all the time. Steve is an ass on a good day. Adam is useless. I actually don't care if Five 0 = jurisdiction over everything, but take a harder look at these characters.

Yeah I actually struggled with the right word to use.  Maybe i meant a darker tone instead of lighthearted fun.

I agree with what you said about them utilizing the characters effectively.  Chi McBride is hard for me to watch.  I've seen him in a lot of things, Boston Public being one of them.  It is not easy for me to watch him play second fiddle to McGarrett instead of being in a leadership role.  He has a very commanding presence and I think it is wasted on this show now that he is part of 5-0 and not commanding SWAT.

McBride is clearly the superior actor on the show. Caan is good in scenes but he's not overall engaged in the show. That's fine. He has a limited role but they reduce him to bitching. 

I mean it's a Friday night show. They could take some risks. Knock Steve out of commission for whatever reason and let Lou really be in charge. 

He needs to be saying, 'bitch, I'm po-lice' once every three episodes at the least.
