  1. No, not unless you have a Neilsen box, and even then, I think you have to verify that you are actually present and watching.
  2. Haha! Wouldn't that be something! I generally think they both suck pretty equally and deserve each other... but Rayna is fighting hard to take the lead in the suckage contest.
  3. Yeah, I couldn't believe how she said that to Deacon. Just when I thought I couldn't hate Rayna any more than I already did. I really hope Deacon finds happiness with someone better than Rayna. He's too good for her.
  4. Thank you Mojito! That was very well-said.
  5. Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. I think a lot of people that tuned in for Selfie were turned off by it and either tuned out during or just after deciding not to watch the next show because they were disappointed, annoyed, or frustrated by the first show of a comedy pair. I know I tend to get like that sometimes. The people I know who have been watching both prefer Manhattan Love Story over Selfie. But I also know people who were frustrated with Selfie and just turned the television off or changed the channel because of it, never giving MLS a chance. That and the early bad press of course, which considering how bad most of the other new comedies have been, I don't think was deserved at all. Analeigh was great in this, but so were her co-stars, in my opinion. I liked that it wasn't cartoonish or gimmicky like the other new romantic comedies seem to be. The acting here was very good to excellent, and the cast had a very nice, easy chemistry. Jake McDorman was very appealing as Peter, who could have come across as a very douchey guy in the hands of a lesser actor. I also really liked Nicolas Wright as his bearded brother David. (I had to look up all these names.) How cute was he in the episode with the baby? So adorable! Their sister Chloe was a very fun character too, and I could totally buy those sibling relationships. And Kurt Fuller is always great, as he was here playing the dad. The actress playing Amy did a nice job with a character that could have otherwise been super annoying. She did seem to have a bit of a vocal fry thing going on though, which could be grating, but at least it wasn't a constant thing. I am getting increasingly frustrated watching the other new romantic comedies, and may just ditch the rest of them in protest. I wanted to see more of this story play out. Did ABC really have to pull this one so soon? I guess they will just double up on Selphies, but won't they just end up running out of episodes too soon?
  6. I agree with this so much. What they did to Avery this season has retroactively ruined season two for me. I pre-ordered the DVDs from the library last summer and they were delivered last week. I can't even bring myself to watch them now, because Avery and Juliette were the best part of it for me last season, and now it all just seems like an empty lie.
  7. Oh man, that is terrible news. I'm so sad that it's gone already. I think the early bad press killed its chances, unfortunately. I don't think it was "edgy" enough for critics. I thought Manhattan Love Story was sweet and fun to watch, and I loved the actors/characters. It wasn't super hilarious for a comedy, but it was more realistic and down to earth than most sitcoms. I found it very enjoyable and will miss seeing this story play out. (I wonder how many episodes have been filmed? I hope they put them online sometime.) Damn. I wish more people would have watched this. The leads were adorable together and I enjoyed the family dynamic too. It was getting better with each episode, and didn't have any ridiculously annoying characters that all the other new shows seem to feature.
  8. I hate that this show is making me start to hate Avery... he used to be my favorite character. His drinking, whining and overall nastiness has just gotten to be way too much. And he's made plenty of mistakes himself. I was so invested in Juliette and Avery, but now I think Juliette deserves someone better. I still love Glen though. He is just made of awesome. And the reckless driving scene was just so ridiculous. Never in a million years do I believe that someone who recently almost died from a reckless auto accident would be whooping it up during and after a near miss like that. This Rayna is a pod.
  9. This show is so freakin' cute. I really like all the characters/actors involved. This was another strong episode, and I liked Jason's continued character growth. I hope the ratings improve, somehow. I think this show is better than both Selfie and A to Z. It totally sucks that hardly anyone is watching it.
  10. I had the captions on and I still missed most of it.
  11. Yeah, that was the first thing that I thought of when I saw that scene. How did they miss something so obvious?
  12. This really did seem like it should have been the second episode. The last episode would have made more sense airing after this one. I liked this one much better too. I really enjoyed the Happy character a lot more during this episode, and I liked getting some clarity on the government guy's motives for putting the team together. (Sorry, can't remember the character's name, and too lazy to look it up right now.) This series is totally implausible, and I normally hate any kind of procedural... but this show has been pretty entertaining thus far. Katherine McPhee is still the weak link though, and I find her presence kind of distracting. But I do like that the characters acknowledged the fact that she doesn't seem to belong.
  13. Ah, I see. Thank you for the links galax-arena... they were very interesting.
  14. I think this show is pretty cute too, and I don't think it deserves the derision it has received. A to Z did a very similar second episode, and I actually liked the Manhattan Love Story second episode much better. I think the leads are cute, and I generally like the supporting characters on this one much more than the A to Z series. (Don't get me started on that show's annoying, bearded work friend - he is awful!) I like the family dynamic on this show too, and that the secondary relationships don't seem forced to me, which is always a plus. I also think the lead actress on this show (don't know her name) is pretty adorable. Conversely, I really don't see the appeal of the actress on A to Z. I didn't watch How I Met Your Mother, so perhaps I would like her and it more if I had. (I do like Ben Feldman on A-Z though, but that show is already starting to bore me.) Oh well, ratings for this are terrible, so I suppose this show is not long for this world. I will continue to watch though, precluding any major dip in quality.
  15. I agree with you that she is probably age appropriate for Deacon. And all this snarking about her looking old makes me kind of sad. Deacon has way more lines and wrinkles than she does, but he's a guy so he's still considered "hot". Life is so unfair... especially if you're female and past a certain age.
  16. What evidence of fraud do you have?
  17. Nah, Sheldon would have just put that in the plus column - more proof that his and Amy's relationship is the better one.
  18. Yeah, I almost turned it off at that point too. I think it's pretty stupid to put something like that in a television episode, but even more so in a pilot with which you really need to capture and retain the largest audience possible. Not a good way to win over romantic comedy fans. My mom was planning to watch the pilot, and I had to warn her about it, hoping that if she was forewarned, she wouldn't just automatically turn it off at that point. The Mindy Project had two episodes in a row their first season which included vomiting scenes. I'm pretty sure a lot more people are put off by it (and put off the show) than the small number that find that kind of thing humorous. Showrunners and writers... don't be so dumb if you want your show to stay on the air - consider your potential audience. They also should have figured out a better way to promote a show like this, instead of running clips from the pilot over and over again for months. People really get sick of those kinds of things, and the more you see it, the worse it starts to look. Instead, they should have written some cute, original promos featuring the leads, who are very charming. At least the ratings ticked up two tenths of a point though... so maybe this show isn't completely dead yet. I'd like to see more of it.
  19. I don't understand this kind of thinking. So they shouldn't have hired this perfectly lovely actress, who did a nice job in the role, because she's overweight? I had extremely low expectations but really enjoyed the pilot. (Except for the vomit scene which I hated.) I liked the online version much better than the one that aired last night though. I know they had to cut some of it for time, but I don't think they did the show any favors, especially with the new ending. The original was much better IMO. It's such a shame about the ratings. The promos made the show look pretty terrible, so I guess it's not surprising. A lot of people watched the pilot online though, so maybe the ratings will tick up a bit next week? Yeah, probably not.
  20. I hated the live performances because they screwed up the closed captioning, making it lag way behind the dialogue. Plus, they ended up looking fake compared to the rest of the show, ironically.
  21. I hated her hair in the first episode, but liked it a lot more in the second one. I thought she looked pretty cute.
  22. I hate the crazy nephew too, and hope he will be arrested or killed off as soon as possible. Man, Javier is the perfect boyfriend, isn't he? I'll take one of those please. I will find it difficult to believe if Zoila chooses her cheating husband over gorgeous, sweet and generous Javier. Then again, her one true love is Genevieve, right? ... They're so cute together. ;) Those two and the Powells are by far the best part of the show for me. Tucker is so fricken adorable! I would love to babysit that cutie-pie. I am always so distracted when they show Nick and Marisol's mansion. It is so obviously filmed in Atlanta, and the house itself looks super familiar to me. I'm trying to figure out if it's famous or I just recognize it from when I lived in the area. Anyway... with all the verdant landscaping and trees, it doesn't look anything like Beverly Hills to me, and every time they show the exterior, it totally takes me out of the show. I hope this show gets renewed. It is literally the only show I'm watching this summer.
