  1. I read an article posted here about Derek and his Broadway show. Seems that he is not the only person associated with the Broadway show that has their hand in other fires. Just FYI from the article. ETA- The costume of the Rockette's- in the pics of this article- seem similar to the one created specifically for them by a "project Runway" contestant. I could be wrong but I don't think so. The article I quoted from another poster http://nypost.com/2015/03/21/can-derek-hough-save-the-rockettes/
  2. .Thank you CED9 for this information. It also explains Keo as he is getting what happened to Maks, Tony D. and Jonathan R. in their early season's. Hopefully, they will get some new men with Ht. I say this as the show likes to recruit Model's and other women of Ht. I am really surprised that the show hasn't recruited taller men either as a pro or in the troupe for this reason. I say this because as a woman of Ht myself , It is what drew me into the show from season 1. Seeing women of ht dance and so on. Not the only reason because I had already been watching PBS when they showed the Ballroom/Latin final's before the show premiered but the show gave me hope that a woman of Ht could dance. YMMV. just my own thoughts
  3. I was going by her own remarks in interviews during the season and the reason she had to wear low heels. Good to know that Val is 6 foot. How tall was Maksim then. I do recall her addressing the height issue during the show and the after show interviews . Maybe I imagined it. My main point was that Val took it as a creative challenge and worked with it.
  4. speaking of Height and pairing's, Now that Maks is gone. Which men are the tallest. In the earlier season's this would be a reason that Maks, Tony D and Jonathan Roberts got the women they did. Does anyone know which 3 males of the current cast/troupe are the tallest. It was nice to see Val with Zendaya even if she was taller than him. So I know that Height isn't the only factor when assigning partner's but it does play a role in it.
  5. This is where I get befuddled with the Holly/Nia thing. I kind of don't blame Holly for saying this because I think she and Nia get called out on "social media" and that this prompts Holly to make these statements on the show about her reason for staying loyal to the studio. This is when I don't know if it the signed contract that prompts this or if it is a true statement to Holly's loyalty to the studio. It may very well be that Nia has bonded with one of the instructor's at the studio as well. Holly started spouting this when Christie and Kelly were around. I noticed that they were persistent in reminding Holly of this fact.
  6. This show has been very , very circumspect as far as ethnicity/race and dance styles. Holly's argument's have been about the treatment of Nia and any opportunities afforded Nia based on her talent ability alone. Holly could have called the race card season's ago. I feel that Holly's approach, her education level and the fact that Nia is not bi-racial, has been a huge bonus for the show and network. It has kept the race card safely at bay for the show. Which is why I like Holly so much. She is able to see past it and look to the future - an individual being graded on their merit. I truly commend Holly for looking past this and viewing Nia ( as well as having Nia view herself as an individual who should be rated by her peers - rather than a statistic). That being said, the show has escaped that particular bag of worms for because of them. The Network should be giving them props for this. That being said, when Nia ages out, I wonder who will take her spot. I guess Kalani (is she Hawaiian or is she multi racial)\\ BTW, this refers to the show only. I know I have seen other ethnicities, races represented at the contests.
  7. I think Holly and Abbey have a kinda/sort of understanding in regards to the show and the taping of the show. I think Holly is able to talk to Abby behind the scenes in a less confrontational manner and verify that Abby know some of this drama is for "the show". I also think that she expresses this to Melissa. I really don't think Holly is a vindictive or mean person but that she really and truly does want Nia to be able to experience certain things like the other dancer's. This includes the potential to be in TV show's and considered for video's. Wouldn't it be GREAT if Beyoncé ( or an artist of her ilk/credibility) decided to put Nia in one of her video's ( even in a small part). She is not good enough for lead. I wonder how THAT would change the show's dynamic. What am I saying!!! Abby would just take full credit for this as well. Back on topic, It seems like Melani's mother is taking over Holly's former role as the quiet one who tries to point out logic in a crazy situation, like Holly once did. So once Nia has "aged out", are the TPTB going to actually make Melissa display some sort of backbone and not just a sycophant to Abby. ( yeah, right)
  8. Yes, I remember that the Mother was answering a question directed at her and that was trying to answer, then Abbey cut her off. I got the impression that it was more TBTP driven to keep that particular story low key for whatever reason ( probably because it would create more pity or attention to Brynn- and Brynn's story line is to kind of give completion to Maddie. So having that story play more of a part could change the Maddie/Brynn dynamic). I really don't know. Mainly, that was just my take on the way that whole scene played out. I could be totally wrong.
  9. Razzleberrypie Yes, Thank You. It isn't just that Abbey continually brings this up at any opportunity- confessional's, talking with the Mom's and the kids. When she mention's it, she gives herself a whole lot of credit for it. I don't blame her, she should be proud of her student's accomplishments but I just wish she wouldn't shove it down the viewer's throat's so often. I also wish she was just as complimentary of ANY work any of her student's get, this would include being a background dancer in a music video or getting any cameo role's.
  10. they are "confirmed with Australia" ? what does this mean? please, I hope it is a good thing.
  11. Thanks so much to "Once sane". I truly and really appreciate it. I think Holly shows how difficult it can be to try to balance teaching a child good work ethics and standing "by your word", yet I truly believe that the show wants to fit her into a certain role now that those other two Mom's are gone. Notice that Holly never says that Nia is the "best" dancer. However, we, the audience, do not get to see how much or how little work is being done to correct Nia's feet. I know Holly has other children but at this point, should she not have extra income(from the show) to have Nia do extra classes. I just don't know what to think because a) Is Holly becoming a pawn of the producer's and following script. Nia is getting close to "aging out" of the show and by being following the show's producer's she chooses to follow script which might get Nia even more follower's. Or b) Holly is showing how the years of this show has changed her thinking and it may not be in Nia's best interest. To me, Holly was the one who could get the most honest response from Abbey in the past. Now it seems like the show is willing to portray Holly as unloyal yet they want to show how little Abbey does to promote Nia. I do not envy Holly. I think she is in a damned if you do and damned if you don't situation and when she chooses her child over Abbey, the show capitalizes on it.
