  1. It was considered innovative at the time, a new genre.
  2. I tried but couldn't reach the end. I thought the scene with James Baldwin was preposterous. You know it did not happen. Murphy or whoever wrote it just put it in so there could be a narrative of how blacks and gays were treated at the time using 2024 terminology and thinking. The writing is lamentable.
  3. That was the daughter of Annette Bening and Warren Beatty playing John's daughter in the show. I saw the name Beatty in the credits and looked it up. She's gorgeous and was quite good in her scene. Was very disappointed in last night's show. Found it dull. I'm fairly certain that the Slim/Paley affair was fiction, as was Babe's desire to reconcile with Truman. I never heard of a second ball either. I guess what is missing for me is that we don't get to know the characters well at all except in their superficial lives. Babe Paley's lung cancer must have been much more painful than the show portrays. I doubt she'd be able to dress and groom herself that well every day given the lack of pain meds at the time. And where is Amanda Mortimer Burden in all of this. You don't have a clue about Slim's life except she lunches and has affairs. CZ lost her house and then what happened? So it gets a little dull. And there are four more episodes?
  4. Bethenny bought an apartment in nyc. Curious if that means she is abandoning stodgy old Greenwich. She deserted nyc during COVID because of the dirty city, the homeless, the bums, etc. I’ve noticed she’s gone to way more events in nyc lately. Maybe she is trying to raise her celebrity profile a bit. Wonder where Bryn will go to high school. And look how easy it is to buy and decorate an apartment when you have her incredible talent. https://www.instagram.com/reel/C2iVE3vvxgk/?igsh=NngwZWdxeGQwMDRt
  5. I'm so sick of the way she exploits Bryn for likes and views and engagement. "Bryn is such a beautiful girl and so talented" says the typical response. In the past few days we have been subjected to Bryn in Aspen (I thought Mommy couldn't go there because of the altitude/dryness resulting in dehydration), at home for Christmas, and now in Turks and Caicos (or St. Barths, I get them confused). Oh, I forgot to mention that one of the IG lives was filmed in a private jet, with Bryn dancing up the aisle.
  6. I'm actually enjoying it more than I thought I would. Kelly looks like Caitlyn Jenner. I feel sorry for her because I gave her the benefit of the doubt on Scary Island, but she hasn't grown from that at all. She should never have returned to the show. Wonder if she is as much of a real estate success as she claims. I'd tend to doubt it, as she is so hard to deal with. For all her talk about being in the present, she never seems to be able to hold a normal conversation. She also seems to forget that she lived in that gorgeous Police Building apartment courtesy of Giles B, and must have gotten some change from that beautiful Southampton home. I'm enjoying Lu. She looks fabulous. I get a little nervous when she thinks she can drink a glass or two of wine. Ramona is being Ramona, forgetting names and places, being late, botching words. Sonja's act is a bit stale to be. She's showing desperation. Kirsten is fun. I like her. Dorinda is a little too conscious of being on pause. All in all a success, and I'm happy Bravo didn't table it because of the Ramona situation. It's better than the revamped NYC.
  7. I agree. Last week when Julie was saved the jury seemed very happy. They like her. Austin is a good guy. He has to grow a little. Maybe the two betrayals by Dee will jolt him a bit.
  8. I was praying for Austin to give his amulet to Drew. I wanted to see Dee's shocked face. I don't like people who use flirtation to get ahead. Dee is so full of herself; I hope it backfires on her and Julie wins it all. Drew's the kind of guy who has never had a moment of pretty privilege. He's awkward looking and scrawny and wasn't ever picked for childhood games. And he wears glasses to boot. I felt for him.
  9. I remember learning this from the original and far superior Upstairs, Downstairs. Mrs. Bridges was the cook and what an endearing character she was. She had never been married. That was a series in which one could get invested in all of the characters, both upstairs and downstairs.
  10. Is it possible that Julie just couldn’t write down Austin’s name because he gave her his idol? And how did Austin take the chance of not playing his amulet? Did Julie convince him she was voting for Emily and he trusted her? The question remains to me as to why Austin didn’t demand that idol back from Julie right after the Tribal council before which he gave it to her. It never made sense to me how he let Julie think it was hers. I liked the show. Nah, there will be no relationship between Dee and Austin after this is over. Dee cares for herself first.
  11. I'm sure you are correct. He's not an engaging character so maybe I forget about him.
  12. Thanks. Drew's a good player who doesn't get that much screen time.
  13. I loved this weeks episode. I thought I would miss Kaleb more, but I didn't. The show kept moving along and the variety of the auction was fun. I was shocked when Bruce won the immunity challenge; I was picking Austin. Who masterminded the selection of Kellie out of all the women to be ousted? Was it Drew or Austin. I guess I didn't keep that straight. Does everyone know that her ousting gives Austin's amulet more power?
  14. 6 hours ago, weaver said: Chris to me is completely unbelievable as an anchor (though I haven't watched any actual morning shows in quite a while, just because of the nonsense they do). How so? She's always projecting a silliness. Don't know if that was the actress' or the writers fault. Course one of the reasons I gave up the network morning shows was because of the silliness, so maybe she nailed it.
  15. I thought this episode was the best of the season. It wasn't all over the place; it pretty much had a straightforward narrative. The whole show is a bit too soapy for my liking but I love Chip and I Love Corey. And I love Holland Taylor, more of her please! Didn't buy that Paul Marks who is suspicious of everything would blurt out the Hanover name to Alex so soon after he had seen Bradley's phone. Didn't buy that Laura would get a merger arranged so quickly, and I don't see how that solution is very good for news. Chris to me is completely unbelievable as an anchor (though I haven't watched any actual morning shows in quite a while, just because of the nonsense they do). I don't see the need for a next season but I guess its already planned. Knowing me, I'll tune in. I was going to cancel Apple, but the Buccaneers looks promising.
  16. Wow, close one. If not for Kaleb and Emily I wouldn't be watching. I like Austin too. Drew The third person with an amulet is Kellie. She is promising. Id like to hear more from her.
  17. I couldn't get through it but was what Andy said true about how successful the show is? I won't be watching another season. I found this on "We Got this Covered." This would describe a massive flop I would think. The remaining installments (episodes three, four, and five) are among the season’s lowest-rated, each drawing in around 475,000 live views or less. Episode five’s haul of 439,000 was not only the season’s worst-performing but also the lowest-rated episode in RHONY‘s 15-year run.
  18. Somehow I cannot get invested in the storyline or any of the characters even though I love some of the actors, Paul, Cory, Stella, Mia. Loved Holland Taylor and her character too. I found the Cory/mother scene boring. I wanted to FF. I guess the incident just didn't fit in the narrative and seemed fake to me. There had to be other ways to show his background, if it was even necessary. The development of the story line just isn't smooth. I can't pinpoint what I really don't like. When I think of Succession, I think of how I was involved in who the successor would be and the future of each of the characters. Not so here.
  19. I almost FF'd to the end but thank heavens I didn't. I'd love to see Kaleb and Emily at the end. They are both interesting personalities. Surprised Emily screwed up with puzzle instructions; I thought she'd be good at that. But then I t hought about myself. I would be good at puzzles if I had time to think them out; under pressure I don't think so. Sabiyah got ahead of herself in trying to get out Kaleb. He would have been a good ally for her for the next few weeks. It's too early to get someone like him out. I won't miss her as much as I would have missed Kaleb. I felt bad for Lulu cuz they got saddled with Brandon in the first two challenges and no way they'd win anything with him around.
  20. If anything, she is trying to get more deeply into it. She did two podcasts with NeNe and apparently dumped all over Andy and the whole franchise. She's trying so hard to stay relevant in the current culture. Andy asks inappropriate questions on WWHL, oh yeah? So why did you bring your daughter with you on your last appearance on WWHL which was less than one year ago. When did these revelations about the abusiveness come to you, when they brought you likes and clicks and $$$$$.
  21. Only made it to the 30 minute mark because I could tell it would be just more of the same. Ubah, get over yourself. I didn't like the "you white people" comment. That reversed would have caused a furor. Erin, lighten up a bit. Brynn, shuddup. I still like Jenna. Maybe you can't mix so many personalities with such different backgrounds without a mess ensuing.
  22. Agree with just about everyone above. Can't get invested in this cast. I do like Erin and Jenna but the others give me nothing. Ubah has gorgeous clothes and looks great in them, but I'm not getting anything else. Brynn is trying way too hard. She isn't as all that as she seems to think. Sai and Jessel are OK, but just that. No one has the oomph factor.
  23. Bryn is hawking GOOP products, including eye cream and exfoliater. She’s 13. Her IG name used to be iambrynhoppy; now it’s iambrynpeanut. Any association with Jason is wiped out.
  24. I think 90 minutes is too long when there are only 5 contestants, or else I'm just bored with these five. I thought Laurence and her attitude should have gone home but I guess they want to see her tailored leather looks in the finals (so do I). I guess Brittany's style was referential to the Gucci collection, but I thought it was good. I hate that style on a man, so its hard for me to judge. Rami's didn't impress me. It seemed like his draping but on a man and the model was so pale it just blended in. But I think they want Rami in the finals. So I think Rami and Laurence will be in the finals. Of the other three, I'd actually like to see Brittany. But I suspect Brittany will go and it will be Bishme. I love Christian, but the judges are falling down at the task. Brandon offers next to nothing.
  25. Bethenny's answer to that comment about starting her own network was "it's too much work." She doesn't have the skillset nor the money to do that but she'd never admit it. Even Oprah had to drag in Tyler Perry to do some shows to bail her out; her network was not profitable for ages. And Bethenny can't manage one person properly, never mind a big organization. I think her best bet might have been a Sirius show, but she screwed that one up. Jeff Lewis is really doing well. She's probably making a bundle now on the podcasts showing on all sorts of social media platforms but it isn't too prestigious and I think has a fairly short shelf life.
