  1. It's weird but I find Garret very hot, always have. I guess I have a thing for goofy sharks. Chris somehow has the look of an 80s movie villain who works long hours at a factory, drinks too many beers at home and abuses his wife. NOT saying hie's a wife-beater, but he reminds me of a specific character that I can't quite place. Bye John, you were totally my type as well. Hope you get some action in Paradise. SO happy both Jordan and David are gone.
  2. Sebastian reminds me of Dave Franco. Maybe it's the eyebrows and curved upper lip. I thought Kellyn's trip to Ghost Island was soooo tedious and seemed to go on forever. I can't stand her whiny and strangely loud voice and really didn't need to hear her story (again!) for five out of a forty-something minute episode. Chris can go any minute. I dislike the giant (and tacky) golden cross hanging over his oily chest. Great effort at Tribal, too bad it didn't pay off. Bradley came off really badly in this episode. I did enjoy seeing him literally gulping at TC like a cartoon character who knows he's in trouble. I hope Laurel and Michael go far, they're my favorites right now.
  3. Arie looked completely nauseous and hammered during his conversation with Annaliese. I thought he was going to vomit. I hope he tones down the drinking in future episodes.
  4. Ugh, this wasn't a great episode for Tim. Ever since the unfortunate Ashley win and the article, I've felt like I can't trust Tim to be objective and rational in his critiques. I feel his bias and favoritism and it's like he doesn't even try to hide it anymore. He felt emotionally connected to Margarita and encouraged her not to ditch her BUTT-UGLY dress because he sympathized with her emotions. Then at the runway he just couldn't.shut.up (which I think he should unless asked specific questions) and defended the dress "I LIKED IT!!" nearly tearing up with frustration like a petulant child. I'm surprised he didn't stomp his feet while saying it. I used to love Tim and wish he would give actual feedback even to his favorites. And I have nothing to say about his use of the TGS on Margarita. I haven't liked any of her looks. I think Brandon's looks all belong in the same collection, which in a way is brilliant. I feel like I know his aesthetic and inspiration, from video games to hip hop and street wear. I could see tons of artists wearing his stuff on stage. He produces high fashion looks week after week instead of ready-to-wear pieces. I get why people are frustrated with the repetitiveness of his looks and I agree that on PR, it would be more exciting to see different colors and silhouettes from the designers. I still think he is miles ahead of the rest of the group, but I don't think it makes for very exciting TV. I like Kentaro a lot and think he has interesting ideas. I wish he wouldn't panic when designing for larger models: if he had made the grey sweater larger to start with, he wouldn't have had to make the black moomoo. The sweater already looked tight on his own head and he is TINY! How could he not predict that it would never fit his model before he stuffed her into it? I felt bad for the model. However, I liked his final look and it screamed Japanese warrior to me. Ayana is improving and I liked the wacky overalls and thought it was her best work so far. Kenya made Lyris look stunning, and I though Lyris's hair and makeup really worked for her as well. She has never looked better. The dress didn't scream high fashion to me, though. I still like both of them and I'm just keeping my fingers and toes crossed that Margarita goes home next week and all 4 make it to FW!
  5. I don't think Liris is obese or otherwise unhealthy looking. She has a rather small waist and an hourglass figure. She isn't chunky in the middle which is unhealthier, as with apple shapes the organs are surrounded by fat. She has healthy, glowing skin and she looks quite toned, not flabby. I think she sets a good example for bigger women who want to look and feel fabulous. Like someone said, the body positivity movement is not about telling people to gain weight or somehow idolize obesity. It's about people of all shapes and sizes being accepted and feeling good about themselves. Eating disorders are often caused by depression, low self-esteem and peer pressure and the worse you feel about yourself, the harder it is to be healthy, whether you're starving yourself or stuffing your face.
  6. No no. I love Clueless and appreciated the reference. I agree with this: I like Batani's personal style and have liked some of her outfits. I question her construction skills.
  7. SUPER unpopular opinion here. i don't hate the twins and I don't think they're the worst designers in the competition. Both have produced looks that I like. This episode made me dislike just about everyone except for Brentaro, Ayana and Michael. Margarita is very unlikeable in her THs, not just bitchy but really she seems like somebody I wouldn't want to deal with in real life. I didn't like her winning dress as I thought the collar and chest area looked messy and tortured. It was also too short. Batani is gorgeous (reminds me of Janet Jackson circa The Velvet Rope) but she has overstayed her welcome as well. I thought her velvet dress was cuet yet very 90s and something Cher or Dionne from Clueless would have worn: There was some serious ugly going on with Kenya and Amy's looks, especially the pointy-yet-droopy-boob pantsuit. I think Amy should have gone home although I bave enjoyed her observations.
  8. I hate to admit it, but Shawn's look was by far my favorite this week. As soon as they said it was a sleepwear challenge, I thought someone should make a wide-legged jumpsuit (stretchy enough that you wouldn't need zippers to get out of it). i absolutely hated the fabrics provided by Heidi (as per usual) as I like to sleep in stretch cotton, jersey or flannel. I really don't like satin as it has zero stretch in it. However, Shawn's was gorgeous and her print looked a lot less fourth grade craft project than most of the others. It actually looked like a printed fabric out of Mood. I also liked Claire's pink piece. Brandon's was cool too, and Batani's was really sexy and beautiful. I didn't mind the winning look, it was quite beautiful but I thought the neckline was a bit too high in the front for comfy sleeping. Even though it was by far the worst runway show of the season, I actually liked many of the designs, Ayana's and Samantha's were cool too. The bad ones were just so, so bad. The colors, the fabric, the lack of design. Ugh. Aaron needs to go and take his yellow shorts with him. I don't need to see his tighty whities ever again.
  9. Poor Katherine, what a depressing outcome. I felt so bad for her. She reminded me a lot of Pennsatucky of OITNB. I just wanted to reach out and give her a big hug.
  10. As a linguist, I really have to comment on this. I have researched African American Vernacular English quite a bit and even wrote my bachelor's thesis on the subject. The "done" structure absolutely is a documented feature of AAVE among with many other characteristics. It isn't grammatically correct, textbook English, but it is also not a sign of lazy grammar or lack of education. AAVE shares many characteristics with Southern regional dialect as well. Nobody has said that bad grammar is unique to black people. I don't see how you jumped to such an appalling conclusion.
  11. Wow, that was heartbreaking! I feel so bad for Team Fun, I was rooting for them to get to the final leg. I hope they come back for another All Star season! I still like Tara and Joey, they're really solid and Tara handled Joey's crankiness on the boat beautifully. They are kind to locals and really appreciate the countries they visit. Epic fail on the mannequins though. Read the damn clue Tara! And Joey is a beast for finishing these exhausting legs while feeling unwell. I don't care if Mom&Dad dislike Brooke, I can't stand her either. What an awful racing partner. I feel so bad for Scott, he is basically carrying Brooke through the race. Scott is this season's MVP for me, he has the patience of a saint and I find his snark hilarious and not too mean-spirited. Matt and Redmond seem pretty much unstoppable at this point, and I don't mind them. I love how fun-loving they are, especially Matt, and they just live for this kind of stuff (unlike Brooke). Redmond comes off as a bit of an ass every now and then, but I don't actively dislike him either. London and Logan are somewhat boring and lack hustle, but they support each other through the tough parts. London kinda reminds me of Ellen DeGeneres with those twinkly blue eyes and kind smile. However, out of the final 4 they are my least favorite team. They took forever on the stupid ladder task! I hope the teams get to a cooler climate soon, I'm sweating bullets through my Nordic skin just watching them suffer from that heat.
  12. The Blower's Daughter is one of my favorite songs and I think Matt killed it tonight. What a great performance, it gave me chills. I also love Damien, Taylor and CWB, but hated the song choices. Better luck next week!
  13. I definitely agree with the results. I heavily disliked Reagan from the beginning (she could have used Usher's don't-lose-your-breath bootcamp), and Anita was so off-key, I was cringing all the way through her performance. The women this year have really not been as good as the men, and I expect Danica to be out soon, too. She needs more current, less belt-y stuff to work with. I notice many people who dislike country music are rooting for CWB - count me in! Country music isn't popular at all where I'm from, but his beautiful, warm, deep tone and confident stage presence make it seem like I'm watching a seasoned artist with a story to tell. (It doesn't hurt that he looks like Sawyer from Lost LOL.) I also love Taylor, Damien and Matt. They all have incredible voices, and Matt and Taylor have been given great songs. Damien needs to get more current ASAP in order to stay in the competition (same goes for Luke). I don't hate any of the singers left, but I wouldn't lose sleep over Danica or Chris, really. Ryan and Luke are in the middle for me, they're either good or meh depending on song choice.
  14. I was a bit disappointed with the cast, as there were so many designers from seasons 10 and 11, and there are dozens of Bravo-era designers I'd love to see again. I'm so over Kate (why would you invite her to compete for a THIRD time when there are so many more interesting people to choose from?) and Helen, but I'm thrilled to see Chris, Dmitry, Jay and Fabio again. Oh, and Alexandria! As a fellow Nordic I'm rooting for her by default - I just get her quiet, dry personality and sense of humor, and enjoy her aesthetic. As for the designs seen this episode, I was really impressed with Fabio's and (ugh) Helen's looks. Patricia was definitely the right choice for elimination, I wasn't a fan of hers on her first season, either. Hope Kate goes next.
  15. UO: I've never liked Andy, ever, at all. He's such a man-child and too dumb to function, it makes a good-looking man like Chris Pratt very unattractive to me. He's become such a caricature of the old Andy who was an unlikable slob (pretending to be injured so he wouldn't have to get up from the couch) but not necessarily an idiot, I don't find him credible at all as a character. I don't think I've ever even laughed his scenes, ever. Oh wait, I loved the "network connectivity problems" line but that was improvised by Pratt, who seems to be doing the best he can with the IMHO terrible writing. Whew, I feel better already! I love this thread!
