  1. Dorothy: You and the animals had the same doctor? Rose: Yes. It worked out fine until the doctor started drinking hog liniment and tried to neuter the Swenson brothers.
  2. "In a Bed of Rose's" is one of my all-time favorites. Lots of great lines. "Fine. Let a dead guy lie there. It's gonna be 98 degrees today. It won't be pretty." "You could light firecrackers in his nostrils - you won't wake him." Blanche (commenting on Rose's new dress): It looks sorta old-fashioned. Rose: That's the style. The girl told me. Blanche: What was she? A Pilgrim? Rose: Well, I'm off. Sophia: Totally!
  3. Rose: They were probably looking for drugs. Dorothy: We have Maalox and estrogen. Now how many junkies do you know have gas and hot flashes?
  4. Yeah, I remember how Dorothy's son, Michael, was around 30ish the first time he was introduced on the show. Then he suddenly became one of the world's oldest-looking 22-year-olds in the episode where he married his pregnant, 44-year-old bandmate, Lorraine, who, by the way, also appeared quite a bit older. And that never made sense because I thought Michael was supposed to be Dorothy's oldest child and the reason for her and Stan getting married ("You had a blowgun wedding?!!!") If that was the case, then he should have been closer to 40ish when his character was first introduced.
  5. Not exactly a continuity error, but I just watched the "Vacation" episode in season 2 when the girls were sitting in the bar area of their fleabag hotel and recognized it as Sophia and Sal's Brooklyn apartment set with a different paint job and accessories. Same staircase, doorways and everything.
  6. I hated the "Nice and Easy" episode. Every scene seemed to be the niece going on in that dreadful southern accent and then quickly waltzing out of the room saying, "I'll see y'all lat-uh!" The only funny part was when Rose and Ed the doofus policeman were discussing their mutual love for "Miami Vice."I've always thought the first three seasons were the funniest and then things started to get a little more hit-and-miss in season four. Beyond that, I wasn't as wild about the episodes. The Marc Cherry years seemed to be the least funny to me. I didn't like how the character of Sophia seemed to change so much. She seemed more the funny, grouchy old lady in the first three seasons, but after that seemed more of a really mean caricature of an old lady. Not as believable in the way she acted or the things she said. Can't quite explain it.
  7. Dorothy: Rose, we've been over this a hundred times. You cannot get pregnant using the toilet at the mall. ***************** Sophia: Dorothy, thank God. I broke my glasses at the mall - I can't see a thing. It took me six hours to find my way home. Dorothy: Why didn't you call? Sophia: I did, but every time I put in a dime and dialed, a condom popped out. Here, Dorothy, I've got five in my pocket - a lifetime supply.
  8. Botox can sometimes cause an effect known as "bat brow" (overly high/arched brows, esp at outer ends) if used incorrectly or in excess. That may be why Heather's eyebrows look so unnaturally high.
  9. She can't help it, Blanche. She has to blow her nose. Or is that a banana?
  10. "I only hear from him at Christmas when he sends me a cheddar cheese Nativity scene. I'm Catholic. I can't spread a wise man on a Ritz cracker!"
  11. Could their "smallish" main house be a rental just for the tv show, as some of the NY housewives have done?
  12. R is for Robert Culp, who played Blanche's boyfriend, Simon. S is for Sheree North, who played Blanche's sister, Virginia.
  13. M is for Mario Lopez, who played Dorothy's top student also named Mario. N is for Nan Martin, who played the girls' nasty neighbor, Mrs. Claxton, as well as Sophia's old friend, Philomena.
  14. H is for Harold Gould, who played Miles. I is for Inga Swenson, who played Rose's annoying sister, Holly. J is for Jenny Lewis, who played the little brat who held Rose's teddy bear for ransom. "Just cut the crap and get back the damn bear!"
  15. J is for the Jumpsuits Rose and Miles wore when skydiving.
