  1. Looks like Nicole is starring in a London revival of Sunset Boulevard, limited 4 month run starting next week.
  2. I rarely watch the US House Hunters, but tuned in last night since I am also somewhat familiar with the area and coincidentally commuted into NYC from Connecticut for about 5 years. I agree there was no way they should have been looking at the west side of the Hudson that far north if they needed to get into the city daily. I checked the monthly fair pass on the train to Grand Central is almost $450 from Beacon. The other factor to keep in mind if you are commenting by rail is the need to build in a time cushion for delays, plus the time to get from Grand Central to wherever you work. If I were the teacher, I'd be looking for a local job immediately. The guy seemed to be involved in the theater, which if not a daily commute, I'd think would involve some late evenings in the city, which can be hard to manage with the commute as well.
  3. Ninjas is really no different than sports like baseball, football, basketball, etc. Athletes lose a step, get overtaken by younger competitors, and eventually have to retire. The odd thing about the show is there seems to be a gap between the older competitors and the 15-18 year olds. Where are the competitors in their early to mid 20’s? I guess it has to do with a decision by production to change how they recruit contestants and stop open casting, among other things.

PGA tournaments are not held in the summer in Arizona even now, they are held in the early spring. No one is playing in 100+ degrees. A better golf comparison is something like the Fedex Championship, which was held in Atlanta a couple of weeks ago in ridiculous heat and humidity conditions, like this year’s US Open. Those Deep South tournaments may need to be relocated northwards.

FWIW, confirmed by the NY Times, there is no AC when the roofs are closed at the Open. There is an air circulation system to keep moisture from accumulating on the courts, since closing the roof usually increases the humidity in the stadiums. There are openings in the walls for air flow from the outside, but you need breezes, and the last week has not been windy in NY. So the decision to close the roof due to heat is complicated. The other alternative would be to postpone the matches.

Funny, I like Eubanks, but I prefer Blake. I heard Stevenson and Shriver commenting on a women’s match together this week and the incessant chatting made me turn the sound off.
  7. I think they’re currently on Amazon Prime, if you get that.
  8. It might not be a budgetary issue, but people don’t usually get ahead by solving 40 year old cases. You get ahead by working on the priorities of your higher ups, which would usually be reducing current crime statistics. Actually, I think it’s an awkward attempt to create tension in the show. Too much domestic angst for me in this first episode, and I think after whatever the period of time since Cassie’s death (since there have already been two temporary DCIs, it must be a few months), Sunny should get over it, or get some counseling.
  9. Baseball season runs April through October, if you make the playoffs. The Oakland A’s are trying to move to Vegas, but it hasn’t gotten final approval yet. Interesting idea on why they are filming two seasons at once, but I don’t think it would be that hard to film somewhere else in Vegas or a different city.
  10. If I closed my eyes, the language in this show sometimes could make me think I’m watching an episode of The Sopranos.
  11. At the end of the show Dr. Lee mentioned he had returned to San Diego three times subsequent to the first treatment series shown on the show, for treatments with five different lasers and a lip lift procedure.
  12. Right. Another day she was "under the weather". A week long vacation at the time of year is not unusual though.
  13. I don’t know, for having undergone that long series of laser treatments, the poor guy with the birthmark didn’t look that much better to me, as far as lightening the portwine stain. What did make a difference was removing all the bumps on his face.
  14. While I am enjoying the foray into musical theater and especially Martin Short this season, I do agree the balance is off and it doesn't seem very concerned with the mystery at all. The lack of any apparent police investigation is one aspect of this and is just weird. The musical rehearsals seem to have been going on for a while, so the case must have been investigated. Even if the conclusion was that it was accidental, it would be nice to know that, and the details of why. One visit to the white room was more than enough.
  15. Thanks! I only knew it as a town and county in Nova Scotia, and couldn’t figure out what connection it might have to New Mexico or the show. Must be the poem.
  16. Granted, I haven’t seen him since the last election cycle, but nice to see Kornacki can afford a new pair of pants. Now maybe he can work on getting a new tie.
  17. The Grubers are brother and sister. Not sure if they mentioned the reason for the suspension.
  18. Sort of an odd show last night. An “incomplete” on the psoriasis patient, especially since similar medications stopped working for him before. While the other two patients were improved, the results for both fell short of what we usually see on the show.
  19. Not that I'm stalking the show or anything, but as a regular viewer, I've noticed that Savannah has been off for one mid-week day, seems like every week this summer. This morning is an example. Strikes me as odd, since it's not like having a long weekend.
  20. This show nails my sense of humor and 2 episodes in, I’m really liking it, although having lost my mother not so long ago, the bit with the ashes made me a little queasy. I had been thinking, “boy, is this a low budget show with such a small cast”, then I read because it was filmed during the pandemic, groupings of actors, etc. were purposely kept small and distant. Glad to hear there is a season 2.
  21. Sorta curious why they had to blur the jacket of one of Simba Jones (?) supporters.
  22. Here's another possibility, just speculating. At Loretta's audition, Oliver is the only person in the room. Maybe we are seeing her audition from his perspective, not objectively? Maybe he finds her attractive, maybe he's not the best judge of talent. Maybe that colors the way he sees her. At the table read in front of a whole cast maybe we are seeing her the way she really is and why she hasn't gotten a lot of parts. Or maybe it's just bad/cheap writing.
  23. I thought I heard her say at the beginning of the season that masks were still required indoors in the clinic in California, so they would continue using the parking lot. I have no idea about current rules in CA or when the shows were filmed. Could have been filmed last year.
  24. The bomber’s facial wounds sure healed fast.
  25. I’m really curious how filming back to back will work. Are there teenagers in reserve to appear in the next season but not allowed to compete in this one? I had to chuckle when they asked, “ Is this Najee’s last season?”when they were probably filming the next season the following week. With so many competitors falling, I’m finding close to zero excitement in the semifinals. At least in the old format, there was suspense until you saw the finishing times.
