  1. The dialog sounded strange to my ear, too. The speech patterns and word choices sounded very contemporary. As for the eff word, they used it so casually it made me wonder if women of that time may have used it more than I realized. And if it depended on how and where you grew up: urban vs rural, working class vs middle class, etc.
  2. I just have to say that this may be my favorite sentence I've ever read on here. I laughed out loud at work.
  3. Contemporary/Jazz/Ballet (Nick, Sabra, Jeanine, Lauren, Melanie, Eliana, Chehon, Amy, Ricky, Lex, Hannahlei - making it 11/17 who've won a non-junior season. Thanks!
  4. I think that speaks to the biases for/against certain dance forms. The ballet/contemporary dancers are allowed to be "good enough" in just their dance styles without having to be versatile in other styles. Just out of curiosity, does anyone know which dance disciplines have been most represented among the winners?
  5. Yes it does, and to state otherwise is elitist and demonstrates a bias towards certain dance styles. I have competitively danced many different styles throughout my life, and I put just as much work to do hip hop than other styles. It has history, and movements are codified, and dancers practice just as hard as other dancers. Thank you, @hula-la. You hit the nail on the head. To be done well, hip hop ABSOLUTELY requires constant and consistent work, effort and commitment. It's a relatively young dance form and it doesn't get the respect that it should. Everybody can't just wake up and dance like that. We've all seen the struggles that dancers in other styles have had trying to do hip hop. Ah, I see what you did there. TBH, a cross-trained dancer in ANY discipline would have an easier time picking up moves from another dance form. So, by your logic, a dancer trained ONLY in ballet or contemporary would struggle to pick-up hip hop moves, while a cross-trained hip hop dancer would have an easier time picking up ballet or contemporary moves.
  6. Ha ha! I love this! I totally felt this vibe. Honestly, I thought they were sexy and had great chemistry. I really enjoyed the dancing on this episode! It was so great to see the all-stars. The skill levels are INSANE. Comfort is effortless AWESOME. She is the only all-star I recognized. My fave dance of the night might have been the zombie hip hop. It was fun and I thought the dancers' moves were crisp, tight and well in sync. Ah, Beau. Sigh. His routine didn't center him AT ALL. I know he's not considered an up to par dancer compared to others, but he could have gotten a routine that allowed him to display his talents and centered him more. I feel the other dancers were pushed and allowed to shine, even if the dance wasn't in their style. Beau was just marginalized, a prop for his all-star Who were the dancers who did angsty contemporary in the shredded fairy dresses? That may have been my least favorite dance of the night.
  7. 17 YEARS???????!!!?? *****crumbles to dust screaming***** Ressurrected by video of Twilex performance. Thanks @HerkyJerky!
  8. Oh, it totally was. They played that clip more than once, with Hawley spotlighted.
  9. THANK YOU! That song was totally wrong for the costuming. My thought when I heard the song was that it sounded more 90s than 80’s. I looked it up and it was from 1988. So many much better songs the show could have chosen. This choice felt like sabotage.
  10. NOBODY? REALLY? Come ON, this show is so much FUN! Ayanna was ROBBED.
  11. I was thinking this. It's been true in the Black community as well.
  12. Kelly Rowland was like a Fairy Goddess Mother that came down and blessed everyone with her mere presence. And she gave good feedback, too.
  13. I did too, with the exception of the one they referred to as the singing twink. I thought his costume was awful.
  14. Here you go, @luckyroll3: On Jameela: Seasons served: 3 Category Is: • Personality: 7/10 — It’s fine. • Judgment: 8/10 — It’s getting better. • Looks: 7/10 — Also getting better, but she still needs to switch up the hair more. • Willingness to fight: 5/10 — She has yet to competently read Law Roach. Score: 27 Look, Jamil is getting better. Our least qualified and most controversial judge seemed to spend most of her time on previous seasons apologizing just for being there. This season, she took baby steps to finding a voice. On Law: Seasons served: 3 Category Is: • Personality: 10/10 — I like drama, what can I say? • Judgment: 9/10 — I like drama, what can I say? • Looks: 9/10— The green bodysuit didn’t work for me (for me!). • Willingness to fight: 10/10 — This is his category. Score: 38 He’s clearly having a blast on that panel, whether he’s noting the House of Revlon’s Schiaparelli references or asking Mara Makaveli if they want to meet him outside. Excitement over Law’s contributions to the panel will vary, but if you come to the show for drama, Law’s gonna give you drama. On Leiomy: Seasons served: 3 Category Is: • Personality: 10/10 — She’s crazy, she’s sexy, she’s cool. • Judgment: 10/10 — What, I’m gonna criticize Leiomy’s judgment? • Looks: 10/10 — The anime look lives in my mind rent free. • Willingness to fight: 10/10 — Always ready, never excessive. • Gag-flag challenge win: +5 — Her use of it was truly funny. Score: 45 Leiomy maintains top-dog status as Legendary’s resident ballroom expert, 360 creator, and no-bullshit taker...There is only one judge whose innovations form the basis of an entire Legendary challenge, and it’s Leiomy. There is only one judge who could refuse to evaluate a battle and then proceed to walk off the show because it was so bad, and it’s Leiomy. On Keke: Seasons served: 1 Category Is: • Personality: 10/10 — Took her role seriously but still had fun. What else do you want? • Judgment: 9/10 — Point deducted for the Mission Impossiball incident. • Looks: 10/10 — Has anybody ever looked better than Keke in that pink swimsuit? • Willingness to fight: 10/10 — “Law, you’re just so tired” was the line of the season. Score: 39 Palmer walked into the season with big shoes to fill as both the only new judge and the person replacing Megan Thee Stallion. Was she intimidated by the challenge? Nope! She had some truly great lines this season, including the indelible “Y’all still talking about that?” in response to the discussion of her (admittedly wrong) choice to give House of Makaveli a ten at the Mission Impossiball. Guest Judges: We’re not including the guest judges on the roster because they’re too diverse in quality to quantify generally. Just know that the best were Leslie Jones, Dominique Jackson and Kelly Rowland, and the worst was the twink who sang.
  15. I ain't mad at this: https://www.vulture.com/article/legendary-season-3-judges-scorecard.html
  16. So looking forward to @Stardancer Supreme's recap of this finale! In the meantime, here are my thoughts. I do think that everyone looked so GOOD and brought their A-game! I'm thrilled that the show got D&G to provide those luxury garments. And the judges seemed truly engaged and excited! I know a performance is going well when Leiomy jumps up and starts screaming, "Fuck it up, fuck it up!" I also appreciated the moments when Leiomy and Law took the time explain how well a move was or was not properly executed. I think Yamamoto put up a great fight, and their full house performance was their best one this season. Clean, precise, synchronized, and they looked AMAZING. They delivered better on some of the element challenges. HOWEVER. As much as I enjoyed this finale, it was somehow lacking for me. It seemed to lack substance, or maybe drama/suspense. I don't think there was any real doubt as to who was gonna win. Juicy Couture was just such a cut above from the beginning. I truly wish that Revlon had made it to the finale, I believe that they would have given Juicy a run for their money. I absolutely loved when Juicy started voguing for sheer joy when it was announced that they won. So thrilled for them! They truly deserve it. And we got to see the ascension of Brooklyn. High may she soar and long may she reign. I enjoyed this kiki with you all! Can't wait to read your thoughts! Already looking forward to season 4!
  17. You NEED military grade weapons to protect your property when 30 - 50 feral hogs come rampaging through. I wish I was being sarcastic, but there are folk who actually say this.
  18. Co-sign. I liked the playground theme, and hated that they had to do tricks on playground equipment. Some of it was shaking during the performances and I felt that production didn't do a good job of stabilizing some of the pieces. Performers shouldn't have to risk serious injury for entertainment purposes, and I sincerely hope that Nunoy is OK. I was so sad to see Revlon go. I am loving Keke Palmer! Her energy and personality are a perfect fit! I hope she continues as a judge. I've seen complaints on other forums about her being "too much" or "overbearing". Not this show, but on other shows she's been on, like the View or that Michael Strahan and Sara Haines talk show. I see Black women referred to this way far too often. I think she's just bold, confident, and unabashedly herself and that intimidates less energetic or confident people.
  19. I loved the way she did it, but even if there was no treehouse, wouldn’t the tree itself be blocking her view anyway? I keep wondering if that's gonna come back and bite her in the ass. Getting sued by the owners or some such thing.
  20. This was so beautifully expressed.
  21. Ooooooh, so she's NEW money. NEVER the new. - Agnes van Rhijn.
  22. YES! My cat recently vomited in our bed in the middle of the night. You best BELIEVE that mr. rollercoaster and I got up, cleaned it up and changed sheets IMMEDIATELY. Also, upon finishing the episode, I'm gonna have to agree, Ayan is a ball of insecurities that is trying WAY too hard. She was so rude at Nina's party. I kinda felt sorry for her, she looked like a wounded little girl at the end. So much FOMO and so desperate to hang with the "cool kids". Is Caroline (dogpis)S one of the cool kids, though? I totally felt sorry for my girl Nina, who just wanted to host a lovely evening with friends. Her sad lament that the sage doesn't work made me chuckle.
  23. Sooooo...Caroline and Sergio were just lolling around in the same bed that Caroline repeatedly said that the dog had peed in. OK. Nasty, nasty, nasty. Just from that, she's my least favorite. From the previews, this iteration seemed to offer a level of opulence that leaves the US versions in the dust, plus a variety of gorgeous women of color. I'mma give it a shot. I didn't have any problem understanding any of them. Ayan tickles me. She is definitely discount Iman. I wouldn't wanna be her friend, but I would enjoy watching her generate chaos. She gonna ruffle some faux classy feathers! So far, I actually like Nina. She seems authentically gracious and elegant. And Sara, too. Love how she helped her son get over his fears.
