  1. I can see why Len gave Paige a 9, but what about Bruno's comments seemed like a 9. He said he loved it and gave nothing bad about it.

The judges dances were nice but the scoring was dumb, why bother if all got the same score?

It'd be a shame if Paige is gone in next week's double elimination, she's clearly the best dancer left (yes, better than Nyle and Wanya), but I wonder about her fanbase. I hope it's grown since the start, but the show is really pushing Ginger. Both of her 30's this week and last, didn't seem like 30's at all. Tonight's Argentine Tango felt jerky in spots and the lighting was dark I could barely see her sometimes.

Wanya in jeopardy twice in a row is odd, but I wonder what that means. No winner has been in jeopardy more than once, if at all. Maybe he really isn't getting votes, could he be a surprise boot next week?

I think it's unfair to discredit what Nyle has done and is doing. Paige is a superior dancing because she has a lot of dance experience. Wanya is a different type of dancer. I think he has more natural rhythm than Nyle for sure. The show has never been about the best dancer and they don't always win. Some years yes, but some no. Sometimes it's about progressive and growth. Nyle isn't just the "deaf guy" on this show. Obviously, that appears to be a majority of the focus, but I find that to be producer driven. That doesn't discount the work he's put in and the talent he's put out. I'm more offended when the show has celebrities with obvious dance experience, but to each his own.

I'm not saying that; I'm saying from a point of view of TPTB, they are so loving that a disabled contestant is most likely gonna win, because it means headlines and media attention, and they want as much of that as possible.

Would a Wanya or Paige win bring those types of headlines? Sure the day after, but Nyle brings the "First deaf DWTS winner" type of stuff and they are like dogs salivating for a treat waiting for it to happen, he can dance so it's not farfetched to imagine him winning but still they are so wanting this to happen.

The scoring snafu with Bruno is the buildup to when he gets his first perfect score and they can finally say "Nyle finally gets his first legitimate 10 from Bruno", the same way they built up Donald getting his first Len 10.

I'm a Paige fan and would like a win from her and another overdue Mark win, but there is absolutely no way Nyle doesn't win. Maybe Wanya or Paige bring a sneak win in the finals if their freestyles steal the show, but he places at least 2nd, I bet.

  3. TPTB is salivating at this right now, honestly. With the intense recent pushes of other "special" contestants like Noah and Amy, the fact that they could really have a celeb with a disability win the entire show is something they probably have the headlines already set for.

Paige and Wanya are really the superior dancers but they will gladly throw them under the bus if need be to get Nyle the win. That packaging and editing last week was simply to knock him down a peg to level out the playing field.

  4. Paige is something like Katherine Jenkins who probably came in with a smaller fanbase, but grew as the season went on and she managed to get to 2nd place, even beating super pimped William Levy and Maria Menounos.

I could see Paige sneak into 2nd place, maybe beating Wanya, I don't see much online support for him, he could be a classic case of judge pet, but not much voting support. Maybe the jeopardy was a tactic, i'm not sure, but the only shocker, IMO truly would be Nyle getting anything less than 1st or 2nd place.

  5. Paige's Jive was easily the best dance of the season so far, possibly one of my favorite Jives i've seen in a long, long time.

I don't care if she has dance experience, she's not the biggest ringer ever (Hello Riker "competed in youth ballroom" Lynch), but she's excited to watch because she dances well and performs well and it's so nice to see Mark giving his best and enjoying his partner. She probably won't win because the agenda has been very "we want a male winner" but if she can manage 3rd or 2nd, i'll be very happy!

Ginger was good, but more like 28/29 good, not a perfect score good.

Von almost dropped Witney in one of the flip lifts and i'm glad he went home after that.

Kim was really surprised she left? I mean, she's good, but against Nyle, Paige, Wanya, Ginger? Really Kim?

  6. Part of why I hated this theme last season and tonight is because I don't want to see recycled ideas and recycled choreography. Too many times tonight it was just the same stuff from what they were basing it off off. Paige was one of the only ones that seemed to be more original and not just a complete recreation or borrowing at least 85% of the original.

I can see why Len gave it a 10 because of the detailing, the athleticism, and the fact that it felt more refreshing and fun.

  7. My cable cut out and I missed Nyle's pre-dance package. Could someone please tell me what Nyle said?

    Thank you.

He said Val is his biggest competition, not the stars, and that he doesn't think of of the pro dancers are better than him. (roughly what he said)

  8. I was mad about Paige being in jeopardy, because while she may not have actually been there, it makes the audience think you are and I hope she doesn't go next week in the double elimination.

She's my number 1 this season and for her to and have to deal with 4 more weeks without her would be very boring, IMO, because Nyle is being fawned over and the men just in general. I get TPTB want a male winner after only having 2 win since season 14, but Wanya is the only one who actually dances the best, granted he's not my favorite by any means, but The agenda just seems very "the men are AMAZING" this season and then they throw out a men vs. women team dance and I can't see a scenario where the judges allow the men to lose that.

    • Love 3
  9. It dawned on me that Nyle got the first 9 and 10 of the season so I did a little info digging on Wiki to see who of the people who got the first 9 or 10 went on to win and who didn't.

First 9 and won: Drew Lachey (S2), Apolo Anton Ohno (S4), Kristi Yamaguchi (S6), Brooke Burke (S7), Nicole Scherzinger (S10), Hines Ward (S12), Amber Riley (S17), Alfonso Ribeiro (S19), Bindi Irwin (S21)

First 10 and won: Kelly Monaco (S1), Kristi Yamaguchi (S6), Brooke Burke (S7), Nicole Scherzinger (S10), Jennifer Grey (S11), Meryl Davis (S18), Bindi Irwin (S21)

First 9 and lost: John O' Hurley (S1), Mario Lopez (S3), Sabrina Bryan (S5), Melissa Rycroft (S8), Aaron Carter (S9), Audrina Patridge (S11), Chynna Phillips (S13), Katherine Jenkins (S14), Sabrina Bryan (S15), Zendaya (S16), Candace Cameron Bure (S18), Nastia Liukin (S20)

First 10 and lost: Stacy Keibler (S2), Joey Lawrence (S3), Joey Fatone (S4), Sabrina Bryan (S5), Lil' Kim (S8), Mya (S9), Romeo (S12), Ricki Lake (S13), Katherine Jenkins (S14), Gilles Marini (S15), Zendaya (S16), Christina Milian (S17), Janel Parrish (S19), Nastia Liukin (S20)

So what can be gathered from this is the majority of the stars who earned the first 9 and 10's went on to lose their season.

9/21 winners got the first 9, and 7/21 winners got the first 10. Nyle got both, and only 4 other winners managed to get both and win (Kristi, Brooke, Nicole, and Bindi). If Nyle wins, he'll be only the 5th star to nab the first 9 and 10 and the only male celeb winner to do so.

So all in all, while it's not unheard of for the winners to get the first 9 and/or 10, but the stats show the majority of them don't win.

  10. Maks talked to the press line and basically said he and Bruno told Len to write down 10, but because it was so loud after the dance, Len thought they said 9.

I still think it's fishy. This has been 22 seasons now and apparently these things still happen. I think during the lovefest of his judging and the crying from CAI, they changed their minds and wanted to make it a 10 and thought they could get away with it.

That or Maks told the truth and Len misheard, all the more reason to invest a little money into a digital pad the judges to enter in a number each instead of writing things down where it leads itself to get info wrong, especially when only 1 judge writes it down.

  11. A lot of people see the top 3 as Nyle, Wanya, and Paige and it got me thinking of how similar it is to the top 3 of season 14

William to Nyle, the sexy eye candy who is no stranger to showing off their body who are good, but get away with a whole lot.

Donald to Wanya, the entertainer who knows how to get the audience engaged and knows how to play the DWTS game with a blonde pro who had never won.

Katherine to Paige, both partnered with Mark. Beautiful blonde natural dancers with previous training who as good as they are have a questionable fanbase.

  12. He's a great dancer and the likely winner, but at what point do they start talking about his posture. He sticks his butt out and hunches his shoulders at times.

This is primarily why I don't like these types of contestants on the show because it seems the judges are often too swayed by their story/journey to do any critiquing. They slam some for lack of content or mistakes and what not, but give Nyle a pass for emotion? 9's were appropriate for that dance and I think part of Len's 10 may have come from seeing a proper VW after Keo's.

He's good, but the "can you really not hear" thing has to stop. TPTB are wetting themselves at the possibility of this type of contestant winning with their pimpage of people like Amy and Noah in the past couple seasons.

    • Love 4
  13. I felt like Maks brought down Paige, when Len says it had more content than he did, you know something was up. He gave it an 7 and some made up criticism to make sure that Val's original partner, Ginger, had the higher score.

I personally felt like a 9 or two could've snuck into Paige's scores because I felt like it was soft and emotional which is something new for her to show this season.

Paige getting a 31 for that great Rumba seems wrong because it was way better than that. She's the most natural dancer for the female celebs and I don't feel like they score her appropriately except for last week's Quickstep, every other dance I feel it's too low.

    • Love 1
  14. Maks and Len seemed especially mean and grumpy tonight. I do feel some of the merit was there on the couples’ mistakes and lack of content, but the way they went about it just felt harsh and mean spirited. It also felt like a deliberate way to hype up the Chmerkovskiy family. It’s not a coincidence that Mak’s fiancée’s original partner, Mak’s brother, and Mak’s brother’s original partner got the best scores and best critiques of the night, why coming down on anyone who poses a threat to Nyle and Ginger especially. Paige was the biggest victim of underscoring as her dance should’ve easily been in 34-36 territory.

A few thoughts on the dances:

Kim/Keo: The second the dance finished I knew it would be slammed. It was very American Smooth styled where open work is allowed, but even I was like “Where’s the in-hold parts?” I feel like using height difference is a poor excuse. Many others in the past have dealt with the height difference and to even more than Kim and Keo. I did like her lyricism and sultry performance and I agreed with Carrie Ann in that regard. This just was part 1 of showing why Keo is a weak pro. I hope these scores and early slot in the order doesn’t send Kim home before Doug

Paige/Sasha: This was a great partnership, and very nice to see Paige open up about not being used to trusting people coming from a sport where everyone is your enemy. I loved this dance and I loved how soft, and feminine her movement was. I have no idea where Maks’ comment came from because I saw plenty of Rumba content, more so than some previous people’s dances and more so than his “Rumba” with Meryl, so it felt kind of hypocritical to say it. Seemed like a dig to one of his brother and fiancée’s biggest competition.

Nyle/Sharna: : Nyle is a more dynamic dancer and performer than Wanya; there I said it. It was his best dance technique wise, but not yet a 10, I did see moments where his posture would stiffen up a little, but having said that, easily the best male celeb dance of the night. I think in terms of the score snafu, Bruno and Maks went with 9 but after critiquing they wanted to be part of the lovefest and thought they could get away with it. Seems fishy to me.

Jodie/Val: Part 2 of showing why Keo is a poor pro; Jodie has her best dance, technique wise and performance wise with another pro. Keo never would’ve given her choreo like this. I’m glad she got a boost in scores and got the pimp spot. I hope it was enough to save her from last week’s scores, because she has all the assets to make the final, I hope Keo can get his choreo exciting after seeing this, but with his Kim choreo tonight I have my severe doubts.

  15. I like Erin now but I always found her bitterness and petty attitude towards Nicole and/or Derek very offputting.

There have been many ringers on the show that were pretty destined to win from day 1, whether it's a dance ringer or a fan base ringer, while Nicole was always a dance ringer, I had my doubts about her winning due to some comments of her personality and the general knowledge of pretty, young singers not ever winning the show before.

So, is it any different competing against Nicole versus say Alfonso , who was a dance AND fan base ringer destined to win basically from the cast announcement? His competitors never sounded nearly as bitter as she did, so it sounds to me the typical case of "ugh, I'm good, but why is there someone better than me here?" types of comments from Erin. She still discusses it to this day, and I don't think she will ever truly get over losing to Nicole.

  16. I usually love Disney night, but I think the initial complete BS over scoring of Antonio put me in a sour mood.

    Some thoughts:

Antonio/Sharna: TPTB needs a footballer deep in the season and based on the package and scores, they seem to be backing Antonio for it. Supposedly he only logged in 10 hours of rehearsal the whole week to do other things. This was a simple Jazz really and he didn’t even shine with the pro guys behind him.

Nyle/Peta: Clearly they gave him a theme to get him an undressed as ABC would allow for a male celeb. He did a pretty good job, but I notice he takes really big steps and it makes some of his footwork seem clunky. Samba is tough but he did a solid job, maybe not 9 worthy but still very solid.

Jodie/Keo: Poor girl just can’t get the judges completely on her side because she’s much better than her scores have been showing us. Ok, here’s the issue with tonight. Number 1, I get why she got off if she couldn’t hear the music. They practiced all along hearing it well and didn’t add the surrounding crowd until the live show so it through her off. Number 2, I barely noticed the mistakes and neither did the people I watched with. Take out those couple mistakes and it was a very solid Cha Cha. Plus the second jeopardy in a row and it’s like they want to play mind games with her.

Ginger/Val: I think Ballroom suits Ginger more than Latin, which is still fine, but this was her best dance from a perspective of being memorable and strong technique. She made the perfect Belle too and Val the perfect Gaston for MANY reasons! Haha! I did think it took a while to start, but it felt like I was watching Beauty and the Beast on Broadway.

Wanya/Lindsay: I liked the simplistic staging for it, with not many props and such, but I felt like it wasn’t his best dance. I wanted more traditional Samba and I felt some of his lines weren’t hit with as much sharpness as usual. It was a good performance and he still did a good job, but I didn’t think it was his best, which I still think was his Week 1 Cha Cha.

Paige/Mark: I worried for a second because Mark (and Derek) tend to do crazy stuff with Quickstep and get slammed for it. But I’m glad it was still a recognizable Quickstep. I’m also glad Len didn’t go mad for breaking hold in the middle because it felt appropriate and not disruptive to the dance. They made a great Woody and Jessie and she’s such a strong dancer. She keeps going like this and she’s finals bound

Elimination: The second the told Doug he was safe I knew it was Marla, but I would've rather seem 2 more weeks of Marla than 2 more weeks of Doug struggling honestly and it's a shame she never got an 8 from the judges. Exception of Len's 6 for their Week 2 Argentine Tango, she got all 7's every week.

    • Love 1
  17. Mark's dilemma was: how do you compete with a partner who is only at the competition to support someone else?  Alexa made it very clear that she was "competing" only to support Carlos and it's not like Carlos reciprocated.  Alexa supported Carlos and Carlos supported Carlos. It's a wonder Alexa lasted as long as she did.

All the more reason that had she competed without Carlos, she would've come off better to viewers and been more focused, cause the dance talent was there.

Mark doesn't seem to ever hold ill will to his past partners; maybe some he's not close with anymore (Kim K, Kristen, Bristol, Christina), but I think he still liked Alexa, but you can definitely tell that he's so happy with Paige. Mark's been a vocal UFC fan, so I think he's excited to choreograph for her.

  18. I don't even think you need to look behind the scenes to see how happy Mark is with Paige. In the 2 dances he's performed with her so far on the show, Mark has been just BEAMING. So much, he was in good spirit even with Len's comment last night about the paso.

I don't agree that Mark didn't like Alexa, though. I think they really did have a connection, but there were other things that made aspects of their partnership challenging.

I think they connected, even more so towards the end with their Contemporary, but I think having to deal with the "married couple" angle, he probably felt uncomfortable around it all because Mark is a very affectionate with partners (Sabrina, Katherine, Chelsea come to mind) so he didn't know how to connect having Carlos literally breathing down his neck.

Alexa was a tough case for me, she was a great dancer, but I wish she got 3rd and Alek got her place (6th) instead. If she was on the season without Carlos (I think she holds more actual star power than him) she would've been finals easily. Not to mention that Tamar situation where she would've moved onto the next week had Tamar just stayed at the hospital and withdrew on the Monday.

  19. I’ve stated that TPTB want a male winner this season. Only two men have won since season 14 and in an effort to even up the balance that’s what they want to happen. They seem to be backing Wanya and Nyle. Wanya because he’s an entertainer and has gotten good treatment thus far. Good packages, his placement in the order each week is in the second half and nothing lower than a 23, plus a full on “AMERICA” themed dance tonight. Nyle because they’d love to have the first ever winner with a disability. He probably has the votes and also notice how he’s been in the second half each week as well.

The two strongest women, Paige and Jodie, are creeping up so they naturally wanna knock them down a peg, more Jodie than Paige. They want a female in the finals for sure, just not to win. Paige has gotten good scores and good packages, but her downfall in the placement. 2nd, 4th, and now 7th, which isn’t bad but still her dance was right at the start of the second half. Jodie has gotten horrible treatment. Each dance underscored, bad placement overall (4th, 1st, 8th), and tonight’s in jeopardy. They want to make it seem like she doesn’t have the votes, and the “in jeopardy” gives off a façade of “well she’s going home soon” type of thing. No one has won being in jeopardy this early before, 2nd and 3rd yes, but not winning.

    • Love 1
  20. I like Latin night overall and think aside from Ed Sheeran and Justin Bieber, all got fairly decent and appropriate songs for their dances.

A few opinions on tonight's dances:

Jodie/Keo: She suffered from going first because her score should’ve been a point or two higher compared to some other dances. I like that she lived up for this Samba. It had fire and attack from her. Would’ve liked a Samba roll or maybe a little more bounce action, but all in all, a strong Latin from her.

Paige/Alan: I wasn’t sure exactly how Paige would fare with Latin, but I was quickly impressed by this. Lots of rhythm, great hip action, and I loved the fast, sharp turns. Lifts were great and fearless. I have to commend her for adjusting so well to dance with someone new so early in the season. Makes me confident the switch up won’t trip her up. This was easily my favorite dance of the night and of the season so far.

Antonio/Sharna: Antonio is someone who was an early projected winner and not since Hope Solo was a pre-season frontrunner have I been this underwhelmed by it. There is talent there but it’s very rough around the edges, plus he’s coming off cocky and arrogant a bit

Nyle/Peta: Tonight and last week were both a bit hectic and jerky. Last week he got a pass because it was fast and it was surprising how well he did for being deaf, but I can see this being a constant problem.

Wanya/Lindsay: He’s good, maybe the best male in terms of ability and showmanship and Lindsay has fun, fresh choreo. Like Kim, it’s hard to really gauge how well rounded he’ll be with two back to back party dances. He could be hard to beat though, and we all know TPTB want another male winner after only having 2 since season 14

Ginger/Val: I hated how long it took to start and even more so the song they got saddled with. She's good, but needs to watch her shoulders, they creep up sometimes on extending her lines. She strikes me as "shock elimination" as much as I like her.

    • Love 2
  21. Paige totally reminds me of the type to be good but not looked at as the best, and steadily improve. I'm seeing support for her.

Usually we know the winner or at least the top 2 by the premiere ending, but I feel like this is a different season. Not saying Paige will definitely win, but she reminds me of the type to steadily and stealthily improve based on her dance and athletic background.

She's giving me Shawn Johnson vibes.

    • Love 1
  22. I hope Mischa gets another chance only because i'd hate for Artem to be gone so quick.

I can live without Geraldo or Doug for that matter.

Von and Antonio won't both make the finals, if either at all. Nyle is good but I wanna see more to see if this was a fluke.

I wish Jodie and Paige were later in the show cause their scores would've been higher.

Kim and Marla happily surprised me, both were better than I imagined.
