I think “safe” often means something along the lines of “makes me feel good/better about myself” when they use it about themselves. in the case of Mykelti, I think Robyn is implying that Mykelti was willing to make Robyn feel good about herself by telling her the news ahead of Christine. Defining “safe” with this crew is futile as it a moving target depending on who is using it.

So I am halfway re-watching this episode and Kody asks about how it would be if they lived apart and the kids were more like cousins. well, Robyn never lived with the other families. But the 3 originals and their kids lived together in Lehi which probably worked fairly well. Then they move to Vegas where they lived together for a full month in that big rental before scattering to various rentals where they lived separately and then to the houses they all build next to each other. Maybe they could have added another unit to the Lehi house for Robyn and the Robynettes, but adding a wife a decade younger than the others and adding 2 caboose kids was unlikely to produce unity. I always think of Savannah being so excited about Breanna being close to her in age, but it seems no closeness between them ever developed. Sad

This article made me even more disgusted with JB, which is quite remarkable as I was already appalled by him. I thought he raised his girls to respect the “headship” of their husbands, but I guess that only applies if the husband wants them to obey their dear old dad JB.

I wonder if that is part of the reason she married him. I went to about a year of Al-anon meetings because of my alcoholic aunt. There were discussions about geographic cures and dry drunks. If being married —and a lot of pregnancies—stopped her drinking, then it isn’t surprising her drinking issues resurfaced after leaving him.

I wondered if the trip was courtesy of TLC to have something to film for another season.

That reminds me of the trip the entire family took to Europe years ago. Does anyone recall how old Jana and James were on that trip. I don’t recall if they also went to Italy or just the UK

I thought Meri’s unit was the smallest, so she got it because she had only one child. I think I am over this show, and ready for an update where-are-they-now type show every year or so. I am also over Jazz and her mother, too. I do hope to see on social media whether they can unload coyote pass and whether they can afford to keep Robyn in her ugly big house.

I will be interested to see what she has to say. It must be tricky to criticize the Gothard cult without making the parents look bad. Of course, I do think that JB and M were pretty awful. I am glad she is on her journey of freedom. I think in some/most pictures she is trying to be photogenic. She looks better than okay, but the camera doesn’t love her. I am wondering if her book is successful by the church standards, whether she will appear on their merch. I can see a book that is a collection of “her favorites”—prayers, meditations, Bible verses—- or maybe a few Bible study guides ala Beth Moore.

I think birth order plus temperament put Mykelti in the role of rebel. Maddie, Leon, and Aspen are all bunched up—almost like triplets. Then along comes Mykelti. The three older girls all seemed pretty well mannered. On the trip to Wyoming she rides the horse that the kids were supposed to avoid, and she is thrown off. In one of the older episodes she talks about not wanting biological children because she wants to adopt. I think she needs to stand apart from the mob. There were several boys in the Duggar family that are called the “lost boys “ in the Duggar forum. Maybe this is almost inevitable in such a large group of kids. I hope she is not prominent in whatever follow up seasons TLC shows.
